Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Lothian

Great and clean house approximately 40 min. away from the city center. We were with the 4 of us and 2 of us had to sleep in the living room, but if you're not home that much that is not a problem at all. The neighbourhood was nice and quiet, and despite it not being close by any of the main tourist attractions of the city, the public transport to and from the city was relatively fast. The hosts were nice and easy to communicate with. Overall, a great place to stay! Would definitely recommend :)

Melissa’s place is amazing. 5 stars! There are a lot of wow characters in her place. The place is huge for just the two of us. The kitchen is spotlessly clean. It had everything we needed. The room is very comfortable and warm. We did not have to use public transport at all to get to all of the tourist spots. It is close to lots of the main sight seeing spots. Very convenient. Melissa is very friendly and helpful. She is very proactively with her communication. We supposed to contact her before we arrive but I did not read the instructions. She contacted us and sorted things. We only stay 2 days in Edinburgh, which we could stay for longer! Would stay in Melissa’s place again! Highly recommend it!

Great location with views of fields whilst being within easy access to Edinburgh. Friendly welcome on arrival. Very clean and tidy. Well furnished with everything you would need in the kitchen. Lovely stay and I would highly recommend.

This place is a gem! Andrea has thought of every little detail and provided proactive answers for every question a guest could have. The space is comfortable and perfect for site seeing in Edinburgh and Dunfermline.

Our booking was a very last minute family emergency situation. I was dealing with Charlotte who was absolutely brilliant. The house was made ready at only a few hours notice. The house provided everything we could possibly have needed, especially peace and comfort during a very stressful time. Communication throughout was outstanding with genuine care for our situation. Absolutely exquisite gardens and gorgeous castle! Magic! Loved every minute here - the garden was in full bloom and we had super weather. Carola was wonderful and very helpful when we had calling issues with our phones. One of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed! Would highly recommend this place - we had the entire downstairs, complete with calling bells and voice tunes like Downton Abbey!

You can't find a better location or a better apartment than this in Dunfermline! Debbie was an absolutely charming and friendly hostess, so helpful and thoughtful, she made us feel like royalty! The flat is immaculate, stunning, and modern with historic views right in the center of the old town center. Shopping, bus, and restaurants within a very short walk, park with loads of walking paths, the castle, abbey, and Carnegie library literally across the street. It truly doesn't get any better than this. Thanks for a truly lovely stay (and the delicious home baked bread)!

I can’t say anything negative really. It is a nice little flat directly by the Bay. The neighborhood is quiet and cozy, like the flat itself and the view is fantastic. Once you leave the house every morning you get greeted by the fresh air of the sea. The communication with Jak and Kerri is fantastic and always fast. If you need anything (which you’ll don’t, because everything you need is there) you can always write them and they answer fast.

This place was great! Perfect for us three travelers (two adults and young kiddo). It's cozy, walkable, and not too far from Edinburgh, but away from the hustle and bustle. Mind the heat! We turned it on and struggled to bring the temp back down. Luc provided great instructions for how to get into the building. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone.

The house was just as expected - beautiful peaceful location, well furnished, cozy feel. Local pub and shops within walking distance as well as several bus lines making it very convenient to get around. The Penland hills park was roughly a 20 min walk away through nice quiet neighborhoods which made for a nice day trip. Highly recommend!

The Butler's Basement is one of my top 3 Airbnbs. The space was fabulous, the area superb to local attractions, and transportation and restaurant options plentiful. I immediately felt at home, thanks to Gemma and James-Lachlan. My travel ans hit a snafu and they couldn't have been more accommodating. I will definitely be back soon!

Lovely single storey apartment which was a nice change from carrying luggage upstairs/ downstairs. Flat entry. Easy parking. The apartment is very quiet, stylish and comfortable and equipped with everything you’re likely to need. Having a washer/dryer was a bonus. Highly recommend.

Aileen was an amazing host! The place was amazing and in a perfect location. Everything about the apartment was awesome. I would recommend staying here if it’s available. I will definitely be looking to stay here again next time I am in Edinburgh!

An exceptional apartment with an exceptional host. The place is quiet, spacious, super clean, super comfortable. The entire apartment was beautifully decorated and had useful as well as interesting books. The living room/dining room is huge and pleasant to relax in. The kitchen had everything we needed and was stocked with lots of staples. The outdoor garden sitting area is beautiful. We really enjoyed staying here. Pierson is a great communicator and was helpful from our first inquiry all through our visit and checkout. Stockbridge is a perfect area to stay in: walking distance to all attractions in Edinburgh but a village in its own right with great shops and food. Do not miss I. J. Mellis Cheesemongers. They have so many cheeses from local UK and small producers. Their staff is friendly and happy to offer samples and teach. We had a wonderful long afternoon at the nearby Botanic Garden. We will be back!

It was really something special to stay at Kinghorn Town Hall. The accommodation is just as beautiful as in the photos and even after a few days just as impressive as at the beginning. Kinghorn is a cute little town, right by the sea and with a few stores and a delicious bagel café. We found it a great base for exploring the surrounding countryside as well as going to Edinburgh (also good access by train). We would love to come back someday.

We had a wonderful stay here and would definitely return. The location is perfect - with the sea just across the road, very close to the pier/harbour area and a couple of minutes from the end of the high street. North Berwick is a lovely little town, perfect for a short break, and was particularly good for our needs with a wheelchair user / someone with mobility issues. Would highly recommend both North Berwick and this accommodation.
