Excellent winter residence (12 weeks). Ability to use the garage was very important (bicycles and golf equipment) and it worked wonderfully. Highly recommend this property for a week, or a month, or 3 months!!! Hope to be back next winter!!! Erika

We stayed at Navi and had a blast! The food trucks across the street were perfect when we didn’t want to cook. Being by the brewery and park was an added bonus that we had not anticipated. The place was great for the three of us. Highly recommend and would love to come back!

Townie One

MichelleRating, 5 stars1 month ago
This was one of the best airbnbs we stayed at in Brevard - our son plays baseball at Brevard College and we have been traveling to Brevard for 4 years - the home was very clean - Marisa was great - we could not figure out how to adjust the ceiling fans so her husband came by to take a look and he went out and got new batteries which we were fine doing but he wanted to - very impressed! Very nice and easy to communicate with. The house is adorable.

2 Good 2 Be True golf cart paddle board kayaks

JillRating, 5 stars1 month ago
The house was clean and spacious and the views were calming. The living room was really a place for gathering friends and watching the final four on the lovely sectional couch and giant loveseat chair. We ate our dinner around the dining table with plenty of room. The beds were very comfortable and there was plenty of room in each bedroom for our belongings. We walked to the beach and took the golf cart to the beach as well. The neighborhood was peaceful and quiet. The only downside was there was not enough seats on the outside decks where we spent most of our time. There were only two chairs and a love seat. We would stay again!

Simple Living @ Vineyard 6 Beds-4BR w/ 2 -1/2 Bath

Having lived in the area previously and visited regularly, this place was 100% worth the price. Not only was the location great and the price excellent but the hosts were accommodating and responsive. There was plenty of room to rest and socialize and the glow in the dark stars in the kids room were such a nice surprise for my kiddos! Thanks Nic and Rach!

Comfy, chic spotless. Your home in Asheville

BhavinRating, 5 stars2 months ago
We had a short stay and not enough time to really enjoy it. The home was cozy and spotless, just as advertised! Gayle was helpful and flexible with our changing schedule, and even went by to turn on the lights for us when we weren't going to be there until dark. We would definitely stay there again!

Near Town/Deck/Hot Tub/Fire Pit/Views

BrandyRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
It was really easy to find due to the directions that were given to us before arrival. There was a book on the counter with places people enjoyed going, take out menus, and reviews of local attractions. The space was clean and had everything we needed. It wasn’t as private as some of the others we’ve stayed in but it was a nice area.

Cedar Ridge Hideaway (True Cabin Retreat)

KimberlyRating, 5 stars9 months ago
This is just a lovely place up on a mountain! Even if you don't have an SUV or AWD, don't let the driveway scare you. Our Miata NC made it up multiple times with no problems. Take the advice of the cabin owner and go slow in low gear. The cabin was clean, comfortable and spacious. It is a peaceful, quiet and scenic spot. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch rockers and relaxing. You will be away from the action/hubbub of Fontana Village and Bryson City, but can get to either in 30-40 minutes. This was much better for us than renting several hotel rooms. The kitchen has everything you need. The hot tub area was nice, too. Owner communicates well and quickly. Thanks, Christina!

Creekside Too

CherianRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Went for mini vacation for spring break with wife and our aussiedoodle from April 6 - 9, 2025. Found the cute cabin, we drove past it and when we came back we found it. As soon as we went in, loved the ambiance, the simplicity of the layout, very easy check in and it had all the amenities. What we loved best is listening to the river water flow as soon as we get up and when we go to sleep. Ample place for our dog to run. Saw a number of ground hogs ( I think ) Loved the porch with rocking chairs and also LOVED the hot tub. But what we loved was sitting by the river. The bathrooms were big, very clean. The beds were ok comfy. Creeks a lot :-) . But I have to say kudos to host Tina & GSCR for being very responsive for all our needs. We are sure to come back to this beautiful cabin. Thank you for hosting us.

Cherry Treesort "Big Nick"

StephanieRating, 5 stars1 week ago
The Big Nick was perfect for my daughter's 12th birthday sleepover. My daughter and her friends had the larger cabin, and my husband and I had the smaller cabin. The girls felt so "grown up" having their own cabin, but we were only a stone's throw away. While we had a lot of rain the night we stayed, the girls were able to enjoy the bounce pillow the next morning. The fire pit would have been great at night for smores and hanging out if everything hadn't been so wet. Would come back and stay again.

Breathtaking Boutique Treehouse nestled in clouds

EbonyRating, 5 stars5 days ago
This tree house was definitely true to the pics! Well designed and off the grid. The fireplace was the focal point and the view was great for nice morning cup of coffee. A few things I would note when visiting. Try to get groceries and necessities before you get these because it is up some steep hills. Also if you plan on cooking you may want to bring cookware. There were a few items there but no frying pan. Other than that the place is a great getaway and The host was very responsive to all our needs. I recommend Stonewalls for a great dinner. The steak is great and the dessert was good as well!

Beacon Treehouse

LindseyRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Our stay at Chris + Torie’s treehouse was magical! Love the patio & twinkle lights… they greet you with such quaintness from the start. So many special touches in the treehouse. The bed is the most comfortable and coziest spot with the heated blanket! Also loved hot water in the outdoor shower. My daughter and I had the best time zip lining at The Gorge, and coming back to a fire at the treehouse afterwards. The location is fantastic as you are close to Flat Rock, Saluda & Hendersonville with amazing restaurants to enjoy. We hope to be back!

Whip-O-Will Cabin: Secluded Log Cabin Treehouse

LauraRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
The "Whip-O-Will" Cabin was just as significant in making Our Birthday Celebration Weekend EXTRAORDINARY, as was the FESTIVAL we attended. From the moment we arrived, we were " Over-the-Top" excited!! We kept running around the grounds and Cabin like 17 yr.old girls - shouting out " Look at This; OMG, See what I found; How cool; I Love This; You've got to see this"! BTW - We are 70!! not 17, and we were Thrilled at all the Magic here. We can now check off " staying in a fresh, unique, inspiring, & comfortable " Tree House Cabin, from The BUCKET LIST. The decor was amazing, & there seemed to be surprises thru each door & in every cabinet, to enhance our experience. The weather co-operated & our short visit was just THAT...WAY TOO SHORT! Thank you, Sherry, for your prompt responses to questions; For providing info up front that eliminated most questions! Thanks for all the special treats & thoughtfulness you put into giving us a 5 star experience!! "WE'LL BE BACK"!!

My friend and I were so pleased with everything. The communication was so welcoming and helpful. The setting was absolutely beautiful - the woods, the creek, the pond, the house. The books and movies that were available were such a nice part of the setting, as well as the numerous options for sitting outdoors and relaxing. It really couldn't have been any better than it was.

Your guide to North Carolina

Welcome to North Carolina

North Carolina has a little bit of everything: city life, mountain getaways, coastal fun, the most visited national park in the country, the Great Smoky Mountains. Whether you’re into urban culture or Mother Nature, the state has got you covered. Towns run the gamut from tech hubs like Raleigh to smaller bohemian communities like Asheville. On the Eastern Seaboard, there’s the port city of Wilmington, home to one of North Carolina’s more popular seaside getaways, as well as the rugged Outer Banks, which span more than 100 miles of pristine coastline. And, of course, there’s the largest metropolis, Charlotte, a center for the state’s pro sports franchises as well as the famed Charlotte Motor Speedway. One of the country’s top craft beer destinations, North Carolina also boasts more than 340 breweries and gastropubs.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in North Carolina

Spring and fall are generally the best time to visit North Carolina for guaranteed good weather. Overall, the summers can be hot and humid, while the winters can bring below-freezing temperatures and snow into the more mountainous regions of western North Carolina. The coastal areas are particularly busy during the summers, so book one of the state’s cabin rentals for shoulder season in late spring or early fall if you want to avoid crowds. The annual Grandfather Mountain Highland Games in July is a great opportunity to come learn about North Carolina’s Scottish heritage.

Top things to do in North Carolina

The Blue Ridge Parkway

The 469-mile Blue Ridge Parkway starts in Great Smoky Mountains National Park near the Tennessee-North Carolina border and winds its way northeast into Virginia, offering scenery galore paired with glimpses of Appalachian culture and Cherokee life. Popular stops include Grandfather Mountain and the Mile High Swinging Bridge with its 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains.

Carova Beach

If watching wild horses roam a sandy beach sounds like something out of a fairy tale, then you’ll want to add Carova Beach to your itinerary. The northernmost community in the Outer Banks is accessible only by unpaved beach, and the 100 Corolla wild horses that populate the area are descendants of the Spanish mustangs that arrived by colonial ships in the 1500s. Other herds are scattered throughout the barrier islands. Be sure to keep your distance and never feed the animals.

The Biltmore

The largest home in America looms just outside Asheville. Built in 1895, the 175,000-square-foot mansion once served as the home of George and Edith Vanderbilt. Take in the fascinating history of their railroad dynasty while on a self-guided tour of the 8,000-acre estate, which includes a winery.
