Vacation rentals with lake access in Forest of Dean District

Carthorse Barn is just simply stunning ! So spacious and beautifully decorated, we felt right at home . The day we arrived weather was not the greatest so having a wood stove was blissful. The cottage is very spacious and has everything needed for a comfortable stay , kitchen is fully equipped, downstairs toilet a welcomed bonus. Upstairs both bedrooms are immaculate, spacious and have very comfy beds . I loved the window bench in the kids bedroom, such a wonderful nook to relax. The main bedroom has the biggest and comfiest bed I have ever seen , such a beautiful wooden headboard too. I loved the free standing bath. The farm is also lovely and we enjoyed going to see the pigs and walking round the lakes.

Our stay at the barn was wonderful. The home is spotless and has everything we needed. Beautiful views from the garden and lovely neighbours with an equally lovely dog! Sally is a fab host who came and introduced herself and provided lots of info on the area and local recommendations. Would recommend to anyone seeking a rural getaway in a beautiful location. Will & Amanda go above and beyond to make their guests stay wonderful. Check in was so easy with very detailed communication. They provided a lovely welcome book with info on the area, what’s to do, places to visit etc . The house was immaculate and very comfortable with everything you needed. The surroundings were super tranquil and just the perfect spot to relax with family. It was so lovely to simply sit and watch the wildlife outside and activity on the lake ❤️ Highly recommend for anyone wanting a relaxing getaway from a normally fast paced life. WOW! WOW! WOW! Fabulous place, very clean, very tidy, lots of light, perfect weather, lovely decking area, lovely to watch watersports, very peaceful, comfortable beds with clean linen, good size bedrooms and bathrooms. Lovely gesture from the owners leaving us some milk, coffee, tea and pizzas! We will be back, you won't be disappointed, book your stay and you will walk into this place and jaw dropping, it's an amazing place! Thank you Andy and Anne, we've had an amazing time!

We had an excellent stay at the rainbow lodge. It was even better than we expected! the lodge was immaculate, spacious and had stunning views of the lake. We also utilized the on site play park and took walks around the lake. We stayed as 2 couples with 2 young children and had plenty of space and everything we needed.

The hose was absolutely gorgeous, we were a group of work colleagues there to compete in a triathlon nearby and we were delighted with only being 6minutes away especially as it was a very early start. Everyone was super happy with the location and the property so thanks

Great location, just steps away from the lake. The jetty was right by the back door to get on to the lake easily.

Great place in a great, walkable location. Marina has restaurants, coffee shops, coop and more. The flat was lovely, spacious and very clean. Host was amazing with clear, quick communications.

We had the most amazing stay at Mandy’s place! She was so helpful and my girls loved all the animals!

Really cosy, comfortable lovely barn, set amongst picturesque lakes and commutable to lots of gorgeous towns.

The apartment was even better in reality than in the photos - lovely decor and comfortable beds/sofas. As we had lovely weather for our weekend stay , we sat outside on the rooftop terrace relaxing at every opportunity, listening to birdsong and lake-watching the wildlife. We hadn’t appreciated the amount of activities on offer at Lower Mill Estate but used the outdoor heated pool, recliners and sauna before we checked in - it really started our weekend in relaxing mood. We went to Ballihoo restaurant during our visit and this was a great family restaurant, very casual with good food - a few minutes walk from the accommodation. We did some Cotswolds sightseeing on the Saturday and it was lovely to know our penthouse and sundeck was waiting when we returned in the afternoon. Jane recommended a local restaurant for the Saturday evening and we weren’t disappointed- the food was absolutely delicious and it made the weekend perfect. Jane & Nico - thank you for everything:-)

We loved it here. Our hosts were lovely. The house and gardens are beautiful. The apartment perfect and tasteful and homely. Perfect. In fact, I'm slightly resentful at having to put up this review, because more people will want to go to "our discovery". Without doubt, the nicest and most delightful AirBnB that my partner and I have stayed in! And the bird life in the grounds is wonderful.

A cosy, clean and comfortable place to stay. Powerful shower. Nice dining area. Very friendly host and good food from the chip shop. Nice little high street and pretty walk around the lake.

Amazing stay, so peaceful and lovely. Location is great, secluded but close enough to drive to takeaway spots or Tesco. Not too far from the Brecon Beacons where we travelled to for the four falls trail. Would visit again, thank you :)

What an amazing cottage! It has such a calm peaceful feel to it,probably helped by the surrounding hills,pretty much on the doorstep,and the abundance of very warm & friendly locals! I'm also pretty certain the bed is magic as I haven't slept that well for ages! John was so helpful with all necessary details. He has left very useful instructions for local walks etc in the cottage,along with lots of historic information about the area,all extremely interesting. We absolutely loved staying here,and hope to return. A very special place.

We had a wonderful stay, we only wish we'd booked for longer. The cottage was beautiful, exceptionally clean, spacious and had everything that we needed and the Aga was wonderful. It was quiet, peaceful and surrounded by beautiful countryside. Victoria provided us with all the information we needed for the cottage and the local area and was available if we needed to make contact. We will definitely be returning soon. Thank you for a wonderful break to celebrate our 20 Year wedding anniversary.

Our stay at Jacqueline’s cottage was superb. It is quite spacious, airy and bright. The house is nicely appointed and extremely well equipped. Jacqueline was very welcoming and a very responsive host. We would definitely stay again. We had trouble finding the place using the Airbnb map. It took us to a totally different location. Entering the address in your own satnav/gps works though.

We had a wonderful stay at the lakeside barn. The view from the barn is truly beautiful. We came with our 8 month old baby and it was a great space for her to roam around (We brought our own travel cot which the bedroom had plenty of room for). Anna was so friendly and kind. She communicated well throughout our stay. We would definitely recommend. Thank you!

What a lovely place - Fran could not have been more helpful and generous, allowing us to drop our bags early as we were attending a wedding nearby, and even offering us a lift to get there. The cottage was lovely with everything we needed for one night - and even a log burner we would definitely have enjoyed using if it was winter! Overall a very enjoyable experience - thank you Fran (and the dogs!) for looking after us so well

Fairhazel was a lovely cottage. Spotlessly clean with many thoughtful touches and lots of goodies. Lower Mill Estate is a lovely place to stay with lots to do - paddle boarding, swimming, walking, tennis and cycling. We would definitely recommend and will return. Thank you Jason

This is an exceptional cottage which matches and exceeds the very clear and full description. Sally provided friendly and professional check information, a full guide to the area and what to expect, and made us feel very welcome. Homemade cakes a special extra! The location and presentation of the cottage and garden were wonderful, being homely yet high quality and authentic to Brecon and Wales. The cottage is within easy walking distance of the town amenities, while being peaceful and also close to the fantastic natural attractions of the area . We would also recommend Priory cottage as an excellent base for visiting the nearby Hay festival.

Lovely property, very clean and had everything we needed. The garden at the rear of the property was perfect for the dog. Good location with easy access to Bath and Cheddar, which we would highly recommend. We loved the Salt and Malt for takeaway fish and chips!
