Cottage vacation rentals in Forest of Dean District

Lovely stay at this beautiful cottage within Weston super mare. Booked for a birthday celebration and was an excellent choice. Location was brilliant, within walking distance from the pier and beach, as well as a few shops, restaurants and pubs etc. parking also avail on street for free or within a car park- £4 approx for 24 hours which is absolutely fine. Cottage itself was simple yet chic, adding an element of luxury with simplicity. Really lovely decor and amenities. Bed was supper comfy which is important for us. Kitchen was stunning, clean. A huge thank you for the local produce you provided, this was really appreciated and made it that extra special for us. Hot tub was great, situated in the garden and made private with beautiful fig trees and outdoor lights. Was really a special time away. Really great communication from the owners too. Overall could not fault the cottage and would definitely return.

Really enjoyed our stay at Humbug Barn! Gorgeous property, really picturesque location, a really warm reception and felt looked after at all times. Was lovely to meet the donkeys and can’t wait to be back!!

Amazing stay at the Yarlington Dairy. The cottage was stunning and had everything you needed. The views were magnificent and the cider was also lush! Laura was a wonderful host, super friendly and very responsive. Thank you for a great stay celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary! 🤩 x

I stayed here recently and honestly, it was perfect. The place was spotless and so spacious, with stunning high ceilings, loads of natural light, and a really calm, welcoming vibe. The open-plan layout made it feel really luxurious but still cosy and homely. The garden was such a dream—completely private, beautifully kept, and the view from the hot tub at sunset was unreal. I could’ve stayed out there for hours just soaking it all in (literally!). Bonus points for the adorable ducks wandering around too. Inside, everything felt fresh and high quality, especially the bathroom—it had both a big walk-in shower and a gorgeous freestanding bath, which was such a treat. I also loved waking up to those big windows and the peaceful views. If you’re looking for somewhere relaxing, clean, and with loads of space to unwind, this is 100% it. I’d go back in a heartbeat.

Traceys place is a fantastic cottage to base yourself to explore the Forest of Dean. A short drive to the main visitor centres and several walks available from the door. Lovely little place to come back to after being out exploring for the day, it's perfect for couples. The garden isn't secure, but they do have a ground spike with a long line on (or another cottage with a fenced garden). There is also a meadow field which is great to take your dog up to. Tracey and Dave were lovely hosts with what was probably the most comprehensive recommendations email we have ever had.

We had an amazing stay at Jeremy’s place. Went for a mini moon after getting married and it was absolutely perfect. Looks exactly like the photos and the scenery is beautiful. We absolutely loved the hot tub, so private and amazing views. Would definitely stay again

This was our second visit to Elmside and we would 100% recommend anybody to stay here. Lovely and clean, and a hot tub to enjoy. Great location too. We hope to come back for a third visit someday. Thanks Lynda & Gary for being fantastic hosts.

A beautiful cottage in the heart of Malvern Hills. Everything is of superior quality. The decor, plates, cutlery, bedding, washroom facilities. Extremely peaceful and fantastic views - great walks as you step outside the door and Holywell spring water - 5 mins walk up the road. A great location to explore The Cotswolds.

We had a lovely stay at this beautiful place. It was so quiet and peaceful. The property was really clean , well equipped and had a super comfy bed and large shower. There were so many lovely places to visit nearby. The station ( just over a mile away with free parking) was great for a day trip to Bristol. Quiet lanes for cycling and dry safe bike storage area available. Fern responded really quickly to any queries we had.

There are SuperHosts and then there’s Pete!! What a star - he likes to chat to newcomers if he can, and we found him full of really useful info. He even managed to get us a table at the local pub, The White Horse. It was packed, but the service and food were excellent. He also recommended a walk up to the Kymin, which was fantastic - what a view. Pete also gave us the most generous welcome basket of goodies we’ve ever had!! All in all, the perfect, peaceful, pad in a great location to get anywhere in the Wye valley, Forest of Dean or wider Monmouthshire. And Pete!

What a gorgeous place if all you need is peace and quiet and the sound of the birds this is for you. Even better is it’s only 25 minutes from Abergavenny and it’s Waitrose 😉. Wilma was lovely and updated us with everything and replied with answers to our queries . We are only annoyed that we took so long to find this little gem!

Lovely stay at the old dairy! We were in Gloucester for two nights and it was perfect. We didn’t get to do as much as we wanted but you can’t predict the weather. It was cosy and comfortable. Gatsby says thank you for his treats! He sniffed them out straight away! Thank you for a perfect stay.

This a lovely cottage with a historic railway story, nestled in a beautiful part of the country surrounded by peace, quiet and nature. The property is very well equipped and has all you need for your stay - everything has been thought of. The local pub (Cottage of Content) serves excellent food and drink and is just 5 min walk down the lane. Excellent local walks all around the area, this is an excellent base for exploring. The host was friendly, responsive and accommodating. We would certainly stay again in figure if back in the area - it’s a big thumbs up from us.

Wyewood Cottage was a fantastic retreat for the long bank holiday weekend for us with our two children. We immediately felt relaxed in the fantastic surroundings. The extensive, communal gardens were so beautiful and allowed our daughters to run around freely and safely. The cottage was very clean and more spacious than it looked on the photos. The view from the front windows was amazing! The beds were really comfy especially the king size bed in the main room and the amazing shower was lovely hot! The cottage is in a magical place right by the hand ferry to cross the river or a short walk to Ye olde ferry inn on the same side. You can take a walk from the cottage along the river bank both ways and Symonds Yat rock is a great walk up on the opp side of the river. You can even see the famous chalet from Sex Education series from the cottage! With limited traffic and beautiful surroundings this cottage is the perfect place to unwind. Susannah was an amazing host who was so helpful.

- Extremely peaceful location, just wonderful to sit in the patio area watching the fields, wild birds, pet pigs, goats and chickens. No noise, just wonderful and relaxing. Perfect sun trap on a sunny day. - The property was perfect, clean, tidy, no clutter, and adds to the surroundings of being able to relax. All amenities we needed it had. Two bathrooms, one for each room either end of the property, with the kitchen/diner/living room in between. Perfect for two couples going away together, or a family. - Pig and Goat food left, and to be able to feed them was just delightful. They are clearly used to be being fussed over as they were so friendly. - The huge field with a slight hill for the dog to run around was amazing. Even better, was the table and chairs at the top, meaning you can sit, relax and soak up the sun watching the wildlife and dog. - Debs and her husband were really lovely people, communicated and well, and came across as warm and kind people.

The Stable is a spacious property with everything you need for your stay. The bedroom is upstairs with a large & comfy bed & ensuite bathroom. The lounge area has various board games, books & foosball table to keep children & adults entertained. The kitchen & dining room is large and sunny. There is also a downstairs bathroom and utility room with washing machine. Yvonne was great to communicate with - quick to answer any questions. The fresh milk and scones on arrival was a nice touch. The Stable is well located for walks directly from the property or a short drive to the Forest of Dean. We enjoyed pizza & beer at the tap room at Bespoke Brewery in Littledean, dinner at Post in Newnham (highly recommend) & cider tasting at Severn Cider in Awre. We had an absolutely wonderful stay! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with freshly baked bread and a thoughtful basket of goodies — such a personal and generous touch. The space itself was beautiful, cozy, and spotless, with every detail carefully considered. But what truly made our stay unforgettable was our hostess. She was incredibly kind and welcoming — warm, helpful, and genuinely caring. It’s clear she puts her heart into making her guests feel completely at home. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and can’t wait to return. Highly, highly recommended!

We had a fabulous stay at Peter and Victoria’s Coombe Cottage. We truly could not have asked for a better arrangement and setting. The cottage sits on the crest of a hill overlooking the lush landscape below. The cottage itself had all we needed; a comfortable seating, comfortable bed, and the shower was great. The Farm Store just outside Wotten has great meals, simple to prepare at the cottage for the evenings that we didn’t want to eat out. The only disappointment was that we couldn’t spend more time getting to know Peter and Victoria as they left for a trip shortly after we arrived. They are a lovely couple that live in the main house adjacent to the cottage.

I would highly recommend the cottage, which is perfect if you’re looking for somewhere in a rural location, but which is easily accessible to all the amenities the Forest of Dean has to offer and near to Monmouth. Miranda welcomed us on arrival and was able to help with any queries we had, she was also available if we had any problems during our stay. We will definitely be returning.

Doris and her husband were wonderful hosts. They were so warm, welcoming, kind and generous. They went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. We had special little treats like pastries daily. Were given fresh eggs on arrival from their own hens and wine.

We loved the cottage. There are a few challenges that are well communicated by the host due to the age of the house, but in my estimation, this only adds to its charm. the surrounding village and countryside are amazing! Highly recommend breakfast at Henry's.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights over the weekend while attending a nearby wedding, and absolutely loved it. The place itself is beautiful – full of charm, peaceful, and surrounded by stunning countryside. It felt very private and wholesome, like a perfect little retreat. Kirstie was brilliant – extremely responsive, kind, and helpful throughout. You can tell they really care about the space and their guests. We also loved meeting her lovely dogs! Everything was clean, well thought out, and comfortable, with lovely touches that made it feel like a home away from home - thanks for the brownies and breakfast! We’d happily return and would definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a tranquil, characterful place to stay in the area.
