Woodcutter’s Cottage - Magical riverside location

HelenRating, 5 starstoday
I cannot overstate how amazing this place is. I was looking for an escape into the woods and it was exactly what I wanted. The setting of the cottage is stunning, right on the river and surrounded by trees. It feels remote, even though it's only a short walk into the village. The welcome was really friendly, you can tell that the owners are very active in their community and have put together loads of local info. I particularly liked the map of the community forrest which made me feel confident enough to explore walks by myself. The cottage itself is beautifully kept, with everything that you need, and then some. I didn't want to leave.

Dog friendly stay with hot tub & 4 swimming pools

ApinyaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
This little estate is beautiful, the wildlife was amazing, I went with a toddler and my husband and very pregnant. Walkable playgrounds and a trampoline, swimming pool in the spa is lovely inside outside pool. Perfect for little one. Really enjoyed the peacefulness. Bank holiday weeks are very busy and everything requires to be booked so we were grateful to have several days without the peek of the holidays. House has lovely bedrooms. Was a much needed break after having to cancel a holiday to Greece due to pregnancy complications we picked this little village and was totally worth it. Day trips out to Cotswold wildlife is a worth a trip and Cirencester (we’ve been a few time is still a beautiful little town) worth bringing some essential you may need if cooking within the house.

Great house, very private, and great location, with shops, coffee shops and restaurants, and The Down’s all in walkable distance. Lovely public park and children’s play park next to house. Good communication from the host ahead of our stay. Lovely housekeeper who welcomed us and showed us round the house, and was on hand for any additional queries. Lovely welcome pack with breakfast food too. Pool and garden were fab additional amenities. Recommend.

Boundary Court Barn, Selsley common, Stroud

CharlotteRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
We loved our stay at Mike and Joan’s barn. We were a mixed family group including three generations. Everyone loved the pool - which was so relaxing and clean and the perfect temperature. Two of our group couldn’t get out much for health reasons but they both loved the character and comfort of the barn and feeling so connected to nature even without leaving the property. We loved watching goldfinches on the common from the dining room window and my daughter slept on the mezzanine sofa bed so she could wake to the spectacular sunrise. Both Mike and Joan made a real effort to meet our slightly complicated needs (autistic teenagers, elderly grandad having cancer treatment) and Mike was incredibly kind letting me and my horsey daughter enjoy wonderful times with his beautiful horses. We had an amazing trip, made some precious memories and very much hope to come back soon. Big thank you to Joan and Mike.

Deluxe Coach House at Bretforton Manor with pool

AmandaRating, 5 stars6 days ago
Had a wonderful long weekend at Bretforton Manor. Lucy was the perfect host and made us feel very welcome. Everything in the Coach House was spotless and well equipped and we loved having the use of the swimming pool and gardens which were beautiful. Our visit coincided with Bretforton open gardens weekend which was hosted in the Manor garden so we also got to see other gardens in the village as well as entertainment and delicious refreshments on our doorstep. The Fleece Inn pub is a 5 minute walk and we recommend the food there too. Perfect location for exploring the area with Hidcote Gardens and Kiftsgate a short drive away. Will definitely return in the future. Thank you so much Lucy Rob and Aslan x

Luxury Cottage with Heated Pool

BrionyRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
We absolutely loved our stay at The Coach House! It was exactly as described and very comfortable. Charlie and Peter were great hosts and had thought of everything. We loved the overall vibe of the house and garden - it’s very Soho Farmhouse chic - and there were even eggs from the local chickens there for us to enjoy. We all said how much we’d love to come back and stay again, and will definitely be recommending it to our friends!

Colliers Cottage at The Barracks, Forest of Dean

ClareRating, 5 stars2 days ago
Excellent space for the four of us (my partner and I, our 18 month old and Labrador) for our break in the Forest of Dean. This Airbnb is so lovely, exactly like the photos and has everything you could want for a self catering break. The Forest tracks are walkable from your door and suitable for an (off road) pushchair. Along with many car parks for other walks within a short drive. We also enjoyed the cycle hire and the Colliers trail track which can easily stop by the Airbnb for lunch. A special mention to the wonderful large garden which was particularly enjoyed by a very happy Labrador. Would highly recommend and we will be coming back.

The Beehive - self catering in the heart of the Forest of Dean

JackRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Lovely, cosy accomodation in a picturesque area. Alice was very friendly, helpful, and communicative. Clear, helpful instructions are provided both for check in and use of the amenities. The Beehive was well equipped, comfortable, and very good value for money. The supplies (toiletries, tea/coffee, milk & butter) were very welcome, as was the surprise Easter egg! We definitely plan to stay here again, hopefully for longer next time!

Private 100” cinema in a whole house just for you

EmmaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Brilliant location for us, as within 200m of Lydney parkrun and ideal for my partner who was doing the Lydney tri. Cinema was a nice touch. Comfortable sofa, that is bigger than it seems in the picture. Nice touch of milk in the fridge on arrival. Very peaceful area. Parking right outside. Great runs from the doorstep right to Lydney Harbour. We did book to take pup Dora, but she ended up sraying at home, but ideal location if you have a dog, as thevpark is so close. We also found a lovely Italian restaurant for Friday tea Sanremo. Thanks for having us!

Cosy hillside cottage in FoD

DannyRating, 5 stars6 days ago
We had a fantastic time at Anita’s beautiful home. The location was superb - the forest of Dean on our doorstep, the river Wye within short walking distance, a comfortable house with beautiful views overlooking the village. The locals were friendly with a nice selection of pubs/restaurants nearby. It was nice to be able to take our dogs along, Anita even left treats and beds for them. A nice touch! Anita was a very attentive host, nothing too much trouble. My family had a very relaxing break. Thank you Anita, highly recommended.

Little Hawthorns Cottage

KayleighRating, 5 stars3 days ago
Lovely couple of nights stay at Aly and Rich’s air b and b with our dog and baby, friendly greeting on arrival. The cottage was very clean and kitted out well (even including a diffuser with the hairdryer for those with curly hair). the only thing we weren’t expecting was the oven to be a counter top oven/grill thing - but it worked okay. The garden is great - both our dog and baby enjoyed it, nice that it is fully enclosed. Very good location for walks in the Forest of Dean.

We enjoyed a lovely walk straight from the house, down to the estuary and along the river to a pub and back again in a large loop. Ideal! We would definitely stay again, and highly recommend 😊

Birdsong Cottage

AamerRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Wow what a place. Every bit of it was perfect just as we imagined. The little girls loved every moment as it gave them the cottage feel they were thinking of. I must say the place is very well equipped, Justine has added small touches like towels, hand wash, shampoos, ear buds, candles. You don’t normally expect them but very well equipped. It literally feels like you’re at home, I’m glad we made this choice. There was an onsite sauna which we didn’t get to use but looked really cool. Maybe on our next visit we will get to use it.. The outdoor garden was magical, nice breezy, birds tweeting, just absolutely beautiful. Well done Justine to you and your partner for having a lovely place. All the best and hopefully we will book your place again in the near future. Thank you once again. You have a lovely flower garden by the way👌🏼

The Bungalow, Forest of Dean

Ms Anne LouiseRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Super easy check-in via lock box and useful to have parking right in front of the property. Everything was clean and smelled fresh (not of dogs, which as I am not a dog owner but knew this was a dog-friendly property I had anticipated might be an issue). The spaciousness of the open plan living space was just what was needed to provide my brain with some space as well as the spaciousness of the green surrounding area. Comfy beds and clean kitchen and bathroom. The linen in the main bedroom had some marks on (although had clearly been washed) which I communicated to the host and this was resolved incredibly promptly by the delivery of fresh linen, which was very much appreciated and added to our sense of 'holiday'. Sofas very comfy and squishy for sinking into. Recommend.

Thanks Claire for a cosy property. Well sited for walking and cycling in the forest. Enjoyed the sunsets and eating in the garden. Easy to park and offload our bikes. Loved the free range eggs from your hens and the beautiful flowers from your garden. Your recommendations for tea and cakes in Deans Forest Cycles, Parkend was spot on, as was dinner at the Woodman. We'd definitely stay again.
