Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Dorset

What a fabulous house for a family break! So much space that for the 11 of us to spread out in,we never felt over crowded. The house was very well equipped,we could all comfortably sit down to eat. The garden was very safe for the children to run around in and it was such a quiet area. David was very responsive to any query I had. I think we could be back next year!

Dolphin Retreat was a wonderful place for our family to stay together as we prepared for our son's wedding. The kitchen/dining/lounge area was a great central space and we even spilled out into the garden with its furniture and BBQ in April! The kitchen is well equipped with a big range cooker, ideal for cooking wedding desserts for 70 people! The property was very clean and had everything we needed. There is a Co op about a 4 minute walk away for the supplies we forgot to bring. There is ample parking for 5 or more vehicles. Nina was a great host and answered all our questions.

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at Anna’s place with our 6 month old and 4 year old children. The house was spacious, stylish and well equipped. My 4 year old loved playing with the duplo, dolls house, trampoline, football and books. It made the world of difference to have her entertained. There are lots of nice coffee places and restaurants nearby and, of course, the beautiful Southbourne beach which we visited every day. We would love to go back and highly recommend to other families.

I stayed at this property with my family and easily one of the best Airbnb I have stayed in terms of comfort, location, surroundings, hospitality, communication from host. The hosts are gem of people who are very thoughtful in providing amenities and services to their guests. They had complementary welcome kit and had two pages with instructions to use listed amenities of the house as well as local grocery and food recommendation. I always had very proactive and positive conversations with Laura and Mike. I would recommend this airbnb to family (esp with kids) and friends. It is so relaxing that you can just relax and bbq in the backyard.

We had a very enjoyable stay. The house was spotless and had everything we needed. Ideal location - we used the park and ride at Odd Down. Supermarket just over the road.

The house is lovely. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped with everything you could want. Plenty of towels supplied. Very quiet area. Would be even better in the summer. Only downside is not having dedicated parking but we found a spot just down the road.

We spent 3 days at this lovely home and will certainly be going back. The house is lovely, especially the kitchen area which looks out into the garden. The kids played in the garden for hours on the climbing frame, tyres and swings and then moved on to the toy room, which they loved! The garden was a huge hit with them! The rooms and bathrooms were nice and clean and the beds are really comfortable! The house is spacious and it was nice to have some space when travelling with a large party. Lee and Stu provided loads of information about the areas and of the various activities to do. We chose to visit Wildheart Animal Sanctuary and the Robin Hill country park - both of these are great if you are travelling with kids. Be prepared to spend an entire day at Robin Hill - it is huge with loads to do! We visited the beach each day and it was perfect when the tide was out for the kids to splash in. Perfect for those with dogs too. Thanks for a great stay!

We had a great stay at Sarah's house in Fordingbridge. There were 2 couples, one child and two dogs. The house is really spacious so you don't feel on top of each other. Sarah has thought of everything you might need with lovely little extras such as milk, coffee pods, bottle of fizz, dog biscuits and bowls. The games room is fun too with pool, ping pong and darts. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely book again.

We stayed in apartment 38 for a week in July 2021. It exceeded my expectations and the pictures do not do it justice (the pictures make it look a bit dated but it really isn’t). It is a lovely 3 bed apartment - very clean throughout. The bedrooms and bathroom are on the first floor and the stairs lead up to the living area and kitchen! The kitchen comes with a fridge, dishwasher, cooker and oven. You also get all your basic cooking utensils and dishes alongside cleaning products including dishwasher tablets. One thing I would suggest is taking some tupperware to store your food in or if you want to make a picnic. The description also stated they provided cooking oil - but there wasn’t any - so it’s worth taking some if you want to make a full english in the morning. We ordered a Tesco online shop which was delivered straight to the apartment without any problems. Note, the pools (indoor and outdoor) are not heated so can be quite cold. The indoor pool area is a bit tired looking with the paint peeling off the floor - but the kids still had a fab time. The gym is also well equipped with weight and cardio machines…but again some of the padding on the machines are a bit worn. Overall we had a fab time, the views are amazing. Meadfoot beach is literally on the doorstep and the town is only a 15min walk away. Paignton beach (10min drive) is great for the kids if you want a bit more hustle and bustle i.e. Pier with arcades and fairground. Also recommend The Inn on the Green for lovely pub grub - they are directly opposite the Paignton pier and the staff were fab too.

We had a wonderful couple of days in the annexe which was surrounded by absolutely beautiful countryside. The accommodation was exactly as described. Carol and Derek were perfect hosts.

Couldn’t have asked for a more attentive and responsive host. Marc property was truly outstanding and reflected his commitment to providing great customer service. A very high end of fixtures and fittings in the property. If we are ever in Southampton again we will certainly book if available his property. Thank you Marc for a great experience.

Enjoyed staying here and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. Well equipped high quality kitchen, 2 floor apartment which is nice. Great private parking, Waitrose or M&S across the road, lovely pubs and shops on your doorstep.

Perfect location for a visit to Bath. We really enjoyed the walk from the house (along the canal) into the town. Margaret was an awesome host. She let us check-in early, and she left us some fresh milk for our tea and coffee upon arrival. Would definitely stay here again.

This is a lovely and very comfortable apartment right on the sea. It was equipped with everything we needed for an excellent stay. It was sparkling clean too!

Lovely space between the city and the Bay, an ideal flat for a group of up to 4. Unfortunately we had to cut our stay short due to my daughter’s illness but wouldn’t hesitate to book again when we try again! Hosts had clear entry instructions and great comms.

Really great value, finished to a good standard and very clean, had everything we needed for a base for the long weekend with two small children and a small dog. Coms were really quick and Amanda was very friendly and accommodating. Has a great parking space and really close to the beach and southbourne. Thanks for our stay

Thankyou for an amazing stay at your beautiful flat, it is in such an incredible location and Exmouth is a really pretty place to visit. The space was beauitfully clean, comfortable and had everything we needed - the added touch of scones jam and cream was a lovely bonus. We will return !

Wonderful, just wonderful! My family and I loved our stay in the Sandpearl apartment. Most of all, the view from the living room and the master bed room is just amazing, I could spend hours just watching the sea waves and the beach and listening to the sea... the apartment itself is spotlessly clean and has everything one might need but nothing feels like clutter. The kitchen even included plastic plates and bowls for children, and the living room had a good selection of books and boardgames. The host, Debbie, was very helpful, always responding very quickly. We asked for local recommendations for food on Easter Sunday and got a few options to choose from. The location itself, right at the beach and right in the middle of Weymouth, couldn't be better either. An overall winner that I would highly recommend. Already talking about maybe coming back to this exactly same place again sometime soon!

Had a booking cancelled at short notice and had to find an alternative sharpish.. found this one and the host was back to us straight away and remained in regular contact. Directions and getting in were easy and we even got notification that the accommodation was ready early. Very clean and comfortable inside - nice and cozy Great job by the host.

Although it’s a while since I last stayed here it still has high standards. Every aspect needed is carefully executed and available. From comfort to cleanliness, peaceful to friendly, solitude to accessibility. From walking on the beach to catching a bus into Weston, this apartment has it all and more. For me it’s just perfect 👌

We had a wonderful stay at Jill’s gorgeous home - so brilliant to stay somewhere that has such a variety of handy amenities and lovely furnishings! We were unlucky with a noisy family in an upstairs holiday apartment but that would not put us off booking again as the place more than made up for it! Super communication and we would love to stay again!

Spacious three bedroom 2nd floor appartment. Lift located next to appartment front door. One parking space which can be seen from living room window. Lots of extras in appartment- eg shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, toilet roll, hand soap etc which was a great addition. Further free parking around the corner on Derby Road. 10 min walk to Boscombe beach. Would thoroughly recommend and look forward to a return trip

Exactly as described and as shown on the photos! Super convenient and cosy and the hosts were really welcoming. I felt at home instantly. The location is perfect, everything is so close, there’s the train and bus stations, restaurants, shops and more. I a 100% recommend staying there 😊!

Firstly we were very fortunate to have such a lovely, helpful and welcoming host so thank you! The flat itself was immaculate, exactly as shown in the pictures and super clean and tidy. Everything we needed was provided and plenty of it! The location was great for walking to town however it is a busy street so was quite noisy at times (but this isn’t anyone’s fault and can’t be helped!) Overall we had a wonderful stay in a lovely flat!
