Petit Farm Cottage Saint-Mesmin 24270 Dordogne.

We have restored an ancient bread oven on our little farm to make a cosy retreat in a quiet corner of the Dordogne. The kitchen and bathroom combine modern fittings with ancient beams and stonework while the comfortable sitting room features a log burning stove and the original paddle for the old bread oven, found when we started the renovation work. It is an ideal base for an active holiday (many options nearby)but the nightlife consists of sharing the stars with the owls and a bottle of wine.

We had a fabulous week in this little hidey hole in a beautiful location with wonderful hosts. Alicia’s cooking is to die for along with Michael’s burgers and both Alicja and Michal were attentive, helpful and happy to look after us. Would thoroughly recommend.

We have just spent a very relaxing 2 weeks at Naomi's lovely gite. The property itself was very clean and comfortable and had everything that we needed; we especially liked the covered terrace off the kitchen and the pool area. The gite is in a very peaceful, secluded location but within easy reach of plenty of picturesque bastide towns. The closest, Villeréal, is only a 10 minute drive away and has plenty of cafes, restaurants and food shops as well as weekly markets and evening food markets - it was really lovely. Naomi and her family are fantastic hosts - very welcoming, helpful and friendly. A great holIday let!

Adrian and Lin are fantastic hosts. They are so welcoming, friendly and hospitable, and nothing felt too much to ask. They were even kind enough to provide an extra toilet roll when the shops were shut on a bank holiday, which we were grateful for. They also regularly checked on us, and gave excellent local recommendations. The gite and the land it is located in are absolutely beautiful, peaceful and relaxing. All of the furniture and fittings in the gite are spotlessly clean, fresh and high quality. The outside area is also perfect for relaxation, with a pool (shared with the other gite) and private patio with a barbecue. It is also in a great location, only half an hour from Bergerac and with countless pretty towns and castles within an hour or two - hiring a car is definitely the best way to go. We felt extremely at home here and want to come back as soon as possible. Thank you Adrian and Lin!

Wonderful stay at the house in the woods! Sylvie and Gilles are so nice, and so discreet. The little woodcutter's cottage is perfect for a quiet and relaxing stay. In the middle of a wood, punctuated by the song of cicadas, the cottage offers everything you need: a functional and complete kitchen, 2 toilets, a bathroom and 2 bedrooms, 1 of which has a view during a full moon night that is magical. The pool is also very comfortable during periods of high heat and very large. Everything is clean, tidy and welcoming, nothing missing. And there are many activities nearby, canoeing, cave, mill... Don't hesitate to stay at the house in the woods!!

Murray andTracy were wonderful hosts who were very welcoming and friendly. They left basic supplies like bread, milk, cheese etc so we had something to eat on arrival. Nothing was too much trouble for them. They even invited us to join a group of their friends to a concert in Duras There was a variety of herbs, spices and cooking oils, as well as plenty of crockery, cutlery, glassware and cooking pots so we had everything we could possibly need. The property was tastefully decorated and furnished with lots of pictures so it felt very homely.

An incredible house in an amazing setting. Inside and out, you feel you are in a fairytale. The house has a medieval look but all the modern amenities and so well taken care of, we loved it so much. Beynac is a wonderful, quiet village and a great jumping off point for exploring this incredible region of France. (Realize a car is a must.) Having breakfast and afternoon drinks on the small patio out front was special. Vincent provided nice restaurant suggestions - highly recommend La Belle Etoille for dinner. Highly recommend La Petite Maison and would certainly stay there again on a return visit.

We had a wonderful stay with our two dogs. Ben made us very welcome, greeting us on arrival and showed us around the property explaining where everything was. The gardens were large and safe and secure for the dogs to roam. We also loved using the private smaller garden attached to the cottage for relaxation. The pool area was well kept and looked inviting but it was too cold to use. The location was very rural and peaceful with a short drive needed to visit boulangerie and restaurants. Ben provided a very detailed information pack with super recommendations for eating out and takeaway pizza. We used one of Ben's canoes to explore the Dordogne and he helpfully drove us to the start and picked us up afterwards. The house was perfect with everything provided and a downstairs bedroom and bathroom. Some care was needed to access the upstairs bedroom due to limited headroom on the stairs. Thank you for a lovely relaxing stay.
