Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Midlothian

Great and clean house approximately 40 min. away from the city center. We were with the 4 of us and 2 of us had to sleep in the living room, but if you're not home that much that is not a problem at all. The neighbourhood was nice and quiet, and despite it not being close by any of the main tourist attractions of the city, the public transport to and from the city was relatively fast. The hosts were nice and easy to communicate with. Overall, a great place to stay! Would definitely recommend :)

Leadburn ist ein wundervoller Ort in der Nähe von Edinburgh. Die Ankunft war durch die gute Wegbeschreibung unkompliziert, und die etwas versteckte Lage des Hauses ist schlicht großartig. Theresa hat uns sehr nett empfangen, und in dem schönen, großzügig dimensionierten Haus mit einer auch für eine große Gruppe vollständig ausgestatteter Küche haben wir uns wirklich wohlgefühlt; für uns (4 Personen) war das Platzangebot schlicht luxuriös. Die Lage an einem kleinen Gewässer ist wunderbar, so dass man versucht ist, gar nicht erst nach Edinburgh (oder in andere Gegenden) zu fahren, sondern nur die unmittelbare Umgebung zu genießen und zu erkunden. Alles in allem eine große Empfehlung, wenn man ein paar Tage in der Nähe von Edinburgh und zugleich in einer - im positiven Sinne - abgeschiedenen Lage inmitten der Natur verbringen möchte!

We enjoyed our stay. Hana’s house was roomy and quiet. It was a short walk to the no. 3 bus, which goes directly to the center of Edinburgh (about 45 minutes). There was a grocery store in easy walking distance. All told, it was a great stay.

This Airbnb stay was excellent! The entire house was clean, cozy, and warm, making it a very comfortable place to stay. The kitchen was well-equipped, with even the condiments fully stocked—perfect for cooking. The bathroom was spotless, with plenty of toilet paper provided, which was a thoughtful touch. Highly recommended!

This is the second time we have stayed at Marie’s, the accommodation is wonderful and very clean, it’s one of the best Airbnb’s we have rented. Marie is a lovely host, very accommodating and great at responding when I had a couple of questions. The extra touches such as milk in the fridge on arrival along with snacks and drinks are really thoughtful and appreciated. The accommodation was ideal for 4 Adults and 1 child and I really hope we can stay here next time we visit Edinburgh.

What a wonderful find! Our stay couldn’t have been more straightforward and comfortable and being on the estate was idyllic. Do explore the grounds or you’ll miss out - I think our young girls discovered their enchanted woods! Thank you, Gwen.

I really enjoyed my stay. Fiona was very responsive to all my messages and the early check in was most appreciated after a long flight. The place was spotless and modern and in a beautiful neighborhood close enough to the city centre while also feeling far enough away from the touristy areas. Local restaurants and grocery stores as well as excellent bus services to get around. Highly recommend!

The flat is modern and well equipped. The shower worked well and had great heat. There was a fairly large fridge. We easily ubered since there were five of us instead of doing public transportation. The apartment is up 1 and 1/3 staircases.

We had such a wonderful stay at Lewis’s place - it was the perfect home base for our first trip to the city. The house is full of character and charm, and it gave us exactly what we needed: a relaxing retreat, time with family, and a great location for exploring. Lewis was an incredibly helpful and thoughtful host from start to finish, which made the whole experience seamless and enjoyable. The space was spotless, well-equipped, and just felt like home. Couldn’t have asked for anything better - we’d absolutely love to return and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

Amazing last minute find. Perfect for what was needed! Yes it’s a small space, but used so so well. Everything you need for a short stay. The area was safe, clean and quiet. Steven and Gillian catered for everything! I wasn’t sure what I was expecting, but it far exceeded whatever that was! Thank you. If ever I’m back in Edinburgh I will be sure to see you again.

We felt at home, everything needed for a comfortable stay. Very quiet area. City buses to downtown in short walking distance: 23, 36. Washer and dryer very helpful. I would stay again when visiting Edinburgh.

Jack's apartment is modern, clean, very smart and has everything you need. Easy to find, secure entry system and has free on site parking. Nice touches like milk in the fridge and shortbread and iron bru, plus Shampoos and shower gels too. Although on main road hardly any traffic after 7pm so very quiet. Bus stops literally outside the door with regular buses straight into the centre of Edinburgh and back again well into the night if you want to enjoy the nightlife which we did. Easy to get to all the attractions in and around the city. We loved staying here and would highly recommend and was really pleased Jack was the perfect host.

We had a great say at the Aaron Glen Guesthouse. Great advice from hosts on public transport links to the city and places to see and things to do. The accommodation was modern, bright and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was do it ourself which was excellent during to the large selection available. It exceeded our expectations and we will definitely return in the future.

Pamela and Brian are great hosts - very friendly, responsive, kind and flexible. We have a great stay at their property. The property itself is great and the surrounding area is peaceful and it is closed to convenient stores and restaurants. We cannot thank Pamela and Brian enough for their hospitality.

The house was just as expected - beautiful peaceful location, well furnished, cozy feel. Local pub and shops within walking distance as well as several bus lines making it very convenient to get around. The Penland hills park was roughly a 20 min walk away through nice quiet neighborhoods which made for a nice day trip. Highly recommend!

This place was fantastic for our family of 4, very spacious and close to everything we needed. The buses make it very easy to get into Edinburgh itself. Kitchen was huge, and we really liked the neighbourhood, there is a park and shops and pubs nearby. Loved it

El espacio que ofrece Martyna es muy confortable para dos. Tiene todas las comodidades. El auto se estaciona fácilmente, sin pago. Está a 20 minutos de Edinburgh pero se llega muy cómodo y hay transportes. Una buena cantidad de lugares para conocer están a 50, 60, 5, km y es un lugar ideal como punto de partida.

Great location, convenient to bus transportation. Peaceful and quiet. Sue and Grant are very responsive, even helping us to secure some additional linens after our arrival. Perfect for our family stay in Edinburgh. We’d definitely stay here again!
