Apartment vacation rentals in Madeira Island

My husband and I are in our 60's, we did not hire a car but relied on the buses. The Number two bus is right outside, the number 1 & 3 are down the hill and a bit of a walk, easier for us if we walk a bit of a zig zag- up one block stop for a wee sip and then continue :) the number 4 bus stops about one block down and over a block. We took the bus to Lido and enjoyed the swimming complex with a huge pool, lockers , showers. We enjoyed a few jazz venues, walking along the promenade and roof top views. The apartment was lovely and had a nice cross breeze and a washer/dryer. We would book again. :)

Great hosts. Welcoming. They go above and beyond to help you. Ana couldn’t find the iron that was at our place and they went out and bought a steamer to ensure we had something. Throughout our stay they made sure we were doing ok. The place was clean and clutter free. Being that I have a dust allergy, I appreciate the cleanliness very much. It does take about 50 min to get there from the airport but with clear google directions provided by Joe & Ana, it was clear to find. We would love to stay here again. Thanks again Joe & Ana

Fantastic location (walkable to the center of Funchal) and bonus private parking! Mauricio was easy to communicate with for both check in and checkout. The place is spacious with comfortable beds and a well stocked kitchen.

We booked Manny's place for the location, and because we liked the photographs, and we could not have made a better choice. The apartment was all we expected and needed, a real home from home, with a balcony to relax on, and a well-equipped kitchen. As a central location, it is perfect for exploring Funchal. Manny is an excellent host. He and his son greeted us at the flat when we arrived with a gift of traditional Madeira cake, local bananas and a fulltray of coffee pods! He talked us through the various appliances (though there's a handy how-to booklet too) and discussed our plans, giving us various recommendations and advice. He also messaged a couple of times during our stay to check everything was OK, and came to the apartment to say goodbye when it was time to leave. It was reassuring to know he would be there if we needed anything. We would definitely book this apartment again - it suited us beautifully, and you won't find a better host than Manny.

Vila da Eva is highly recommended. It is located in a quiet village, a little further from the tourist centers. This does ensure that you can enjoy in peace, which we found a plus. The view from the terrace and living room is truly sublime. You overlook the sea and the hills. The communication with Eva was very good and fast. We were also able to check in a little earlier than listed on the site. The house is perfectly fine. Very neat and clean. The kitchen is fully equipped. We regularly cooked ourselves and everything was at hand. Ah yes... Bar do Russo (100m walking distance) is really recommended if you want to taste a delicious strong poncha among the locals. Absolutely do! In short: Vila da Eva is highly recommended!!!!!!!

we had a great stay in Catherine's apartment. this is a fantastic and superior apartment which is very well equipped with everything in terms of cooking facilities, utensils etc and is very comfortable and relaxing . The Balcony is spacious with fantastic views of the harbour, ocean and town. The rooftop pool and gym are an added bonus . we had the pool to ourselves on most days during our stay. there is a really good fish restaurant just along the street and the main bus stop for funchal etc is just at end of street we would reccomend this apartment to anyone planning a stay in Camara de lobos. The apartment was very clean with all new equipment . There was some road noise during morning traffic but not too bad as just single lane one way street and there is good standard of double glazing. Catherine and Anna Maria communicated well with us at all times and ensured we had everything we needed.

The place was perfect for a holiday in Funchal. The apartment was ideally located and exceptionally clean.

I had a really lovely time. The host was very friendly, welcomed me and communicated throughout my stay. I felt safe as a solo traveller. The roof terrance was lovely to have breakfast on. They had to come and do some electrical work in the room, but they accommodated this with my timings and left me a bottle of wine. The bed was comfortable. The pillows were too big for my liking, but was very comfortable outside of this. The bathroom smelt slightly damp if I left the door closed after showering, but was fine if the door was open. I would stay again.

We stayed at Marco’s apartment with our 1-year-old baby and spent three wonderful weeks there. The accommodation is located in the sunniest part of the island. From the 4th floor, there’s a stunning view of the ocean from both terraces where you can watch the sunset too. The living room is bathed in sunlight all day and overlooks a peaceful park above the plaza. In my opinion, the apartment is even cozier than it appears in the photos and is fully equipped with everything you might need. We cooked and did laundry quite a lot during our stay. There are several restaurants, a hair salon, and a toy shop in the same building as the apartment. Across the street, there’s a greengrocer, and just a few steps away is a shopping mall. The playground is located in park just a block away from the apartment, and at the beginning of the street, there’s a traditional bakery filled with local delicacies. Communication with Marco was very smooth, he’s truly a wonderful host!

Good communication with the host and nearby airport fits my requirements. The apartment is too big for two people; it is better to rent for four people :) Thanks for hosting us and being responsive regarding our delayed flight:)

Isabel’s apartment is centrally located on a quiet street. It’s within short walk to Funchal old town attractions and water front. Restaurants and grocery stores are all nearby. The apartment is gated with a private parking. It is equipped with all household essentials. Isabel greeted us near the building and showed us around inside the apartment. Madeira island is very beautiful. We took two full days on the island for scenic drive and one day walking around central Funchal. We are very happy with our stay and strongly recommend Isabel’s apartment.

This was the perfect stay for my Madeira getaway! I was greeted by my host who was friendly and welcoming and showed me everything I needed to know, and then he left me to enjoy the spectacular view of the ocean. My host was always available to answer questions and even helped me with a transportation recommendation to get to and from the airport. I found the location to be ideal for everything that I wanted to do, and grocery shopping was close by. I am already thinking about my next trip to Madeira and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

Great stay! Betty was very responsive and helpful. We were there with family for a couple weeks and she offered cleaning services and fresh towels several times. The amenities were perfect and we were able to have family dinners without issue. Location was great for walking right downtown, to the market, etc within 10 minutes. House was super clean with great views. Can’t recommend this place enough!

Quality, well-appointed apartment in a great location. Hosts exceptionally professional, dealt with any questions immediately. Same can be said of the Concierge. Immaculate building and apartment. Water front, supermarket, restaurants, cable car etc all reached, on foot, in minutes. We loved this apartment and can highly recommend it.

Susana gave very good instructions and was always ready to help. Apartment is in a very good location and has a beautiful view! As a female solotraveler I felt very safe which is obviously very important! 🫶🏻

Leonel is super friendly and helpful. The apartment is clean and in the quiet area. It was hard to leave, especially the SPA and swimming pool :( Big parking space, highly recommended!

We had a great stay at Paula's place. She responded very quickly to messages and welcomed us herself and showed us around. She also gave us a list of various recommendations- both for places to visit and very good restaurants. She also helped us get a good deal for a car rental. The apartment itself was super well equipped. Paula had even left for us beach towels and a fresh bag of coffee which we found a nice gesture. The location is very good, close to cafes, a big supermarket and down the stairs to the beach. Yes it's steep to get there but this is Madeira! There's not much to dislike. Maybe the bed was a bit hard and narrow but we still slept quite well tired after long days. The water in the pool was also rather on a cold side but it didn't stop the kids from swimming every day.

We stayed in Funchal for week while visiting Madeira for the first time. Betty's place is a great hub to base your stay from - walking down town to everything you need: shopping, restaurants, cable car, everything! And there is a great bakery and a delicious Thai restaurant withing two minutes of the apartment. Having a parking spot is great. Betty is super sweet and was very responsive if we had any questions. I wouldn't hesitate to book this lovely apartment again - great stay!

Just a very good calm place. Both the sea and the mountains/forest are readily available. Incredible views from the balcony. The apartment is large, comfortable and tidy. A good gym nearby in 10 minutes walk.
