Vacation rentals with a kayak in Watauga Lake

If you are looking for a private place to stay this is it. I did not take my boat this trip but if I had I would be extremely comfortable knowing it was safe. The mountains surrounding the house are beautiful. We rented a pontoon boat on Lake Watauga for the day (225.00) and really enjoyed it. Judson and Deanne were very friendly and made sure our stay was a success.

Great location for what we needed would definitely stay again

Great place to stay, spacious and comfortable. We spent a lot of time in the outdoor space. Beds and bedding were super comfy. Kitchen crockery and utensils well stocked. Super walks set within the community. We had a lovely time!

This was my second time staying here. Chris is always very nice and helpful. I’m looking forward to staying a third time ! Thank you Chris for allowing me to stay in this wonderful home !

We absolutely loved our stay at the Barndominium! We've stayed at many Airbnbs throughout the country, and this is now one of our top five! The property looks exactly like it does in the photos, but the photos cannot relay the genuine sense of warmth, comfort, and quality we felt the minute we entered. The furniture and decor were so well done, comfortable and beautiful at the same time, and the kitchen was stocked with everything and anything you could want or need. Everything about this place is impressive, and we will definitely stay here again the next time we are in the area.

Wonderful place for relaxation! James’s place is wonderfully secluded but close to town. It was easy to find even though it’s “off the beaten path” even though we arrived after dark. It has a wonderful porch and fire pit which we unfortunately were unable to enjoy because of the cold and the wind. James is a great host and very responsive. We’ll be back again to enjoy that porch!

Beautiful home and the most well stocked kitchen I’ve ever seen at an AirBnB or VRBO. The family loved it. Only thing is it has houses on each side and not as private as it looked in the photos. River was great but a bit shallow for fishing near th house. Still it was a great time at a lovely home

Wonderful area and very nice home. Beautiful view of the frozen lake in the winter that may be blocked in the summer. The house stayed very warm. Caution to some, if it snows there is a chance you can get left off the mountain. This is nothing against the home, but prepare for this so it does not ruin your stay.

Great place to stay! The view is fantastic and the house is set up nicely for a group with plenty of comfortable seating. Host is very responsive. The only downside currently is the road closures make the drive to nearby activities a little longer than usual, but still not too bad.

Chris's cabin and property are beautiful! We loved having the river right behind us to play in with our puppy. Everything with the cabin was great, comfortable beds, fully stocked kitchen, plenty of wood for the firepit, charcoal for the grills, and an amazing view of the river and surroundings. Very private and very remote, I would strongly recommend having an SUV/all-wheel drive vehicle. We saw two black bears as we were driving back to the property which was fun to see (but glad they weren't any closer or on the property). Chris is very helpful with instructions for getting to the place, and was very responsive when we had questions. We definitely hope to go back and highly recommend this property!

We had the absolute best time at this cabin. The pictures don’t do it justice- I could stay out on that porch or in the hot tub all day :) we enjoyed the movie/game room and all of the beds were very comfortable. It was very peaceful with lots of little trails around. Getting to town was pretty easy as well and you have Boone and Blowing Rock not too far away. We would definitely stay here again!

The cabinets was perfect for our family . Everything was as described. Karen communicated often to ensure we had all that we needed. We will definitely rent from her again when we are in the area.
