“if you are looking for a place to get grounded and enjoy nature for how beautiful it is, while being accompanied by the friendliest dog, chickens, and cats bonanza jellybean is for you. cooling off in the creek only a few steps from the camper was a great activity for a day. there is a book in the camper named “serena” and if you love thriller books i would recommend reading it while you are there. the “hilly billy hot tub” was an amazing way to end the stay at camp g.r.i.t.s..”
Camp Grits offers a camping experience not be found anywhere else in the Smokys. Come stay in our little black cabin in our woodsy yard, put some wood on the wood stove, climb up to the loft and open the hatch: catch the last wisps of camp fire smoke and the owl's calling. Wake up to the smell of your lover cooking eggs, and toasting homemade bread.
“My little family spent our magical babymoon at Camp Grits. I had viewed Rosie's listings earlier in the year and made a note that I wanted to take a trip to her special place. With all that has happened in 2020, we needed a getaway to enjoy nature and just each other. This was a safe place for us to relax and just be. As a newbie to camping/glamping, I felt really good about our trip and stay. Reading the previous reviews helped me prepare (bug spray, extra lighting such as a lantern, and where to swim - Little Pigeon River). We knew where to get firewood - make sure you go to Donna Joe's, not DJ's. They are two separate places. The locals were friendly and we made sure to bring items that would make us more comfortable - our own pillows, swimming towels, fire starters, and a small battery operated fan. Rosie does provide what you really will need but if you have any worry about comfort or just aren't sure - prepare and bring what you would want to have on this type of trip. We stayed in the cabin, yellow camper and the red Jelly Bean camper. I took so many photos of the details and our experiences from feeding the chickens and roosters, to the fresh bread and eggs provided. We loved being with Alex - she is such a sweetie! She guarded us each night - I'm certain she made the rounds each night to each site to ensure everyone was safe. What a good girl! She made the trip all the more special. It's a fantastic spot and getaway. If you are looking to mentally go off grid, this is your place, too. No cell service! It was perfect and ensured we did not do ANY work. The pressure was off. We already know we will go back at some point. It was VERY warm/humid at the end of July so we want to check it out again. when it's cooler. We still enjoyed ourselves and I'm so thankful that Rosie and her family created this oasis for the human spirit and soul. They are amazing hosts and special people. <3 We can't wait to go back!”

“Such an incredible, cozy cabin within a short distance from downtown. The cabin was very clean, neatly decorated, and made us feel right at home! After staying at another airbnb before arriving to Paula's cabin (due to availability with our vacation dates), this cabin was hands down cleaner and of higher quality! Thank you Paula for your hospitality and allowing others to enjoy your sweet cabin!”
