Kamo Riverside Terrace Kyoto Gion 京都鴨川 祇園 桜-Flat B

PaulRating, 5 stars1 week ago
If you’re looking for a convenient place to stay in Kyoto close to lively life, Ken’s place is perfect. The entry is on a beautiful tree lined street on a canal surrounded by restaurants and bars and in the back the deck over looks the Kami River and biking/walking path. The apartments quiet. Wonderful amenities if you want to cook or do laundry. The apt., although well equipped with everything you may need as if you were at home, is a bit tight in the entry, kitchen, bath and toilet area. Not a big deal if you don’t mind beautiful aesthetics. It’s nothing glamorous but who needs that when you’re traveling. You should be outside most of the time! You can pay a fortune and stay at a hotel or be extremely comfortable at Ken’s place. Would definitely recommend and stay again if we ever come back to Kyoto! And worth mentioning…. Ken is a wonderful host and he was quick to respond and give thoughtful suggestions.

It was very clean and the room smelled nice. It's a shame there wasn't a record player, but we had a good time! I would like to use another building if I have the opportunity.

Mulan family

1. The B&B is a detached house with a total of three floors. It is cozy and clean, with all daily necessities. The furniture is very Japanese-style, the bedding is clean and soft and has a light fragrance. The bathroom is separated from the wet area, and the toilet is warm when you sit on it. The host (MULAN) comes to help us with daily garbage every day. 2. The location is excellent, just a few minutes walk from the subway station, very convenient to go to Nanzen-ji Temple, Kamogawa and other famous attractions, very close to Uji and Nara.Surrounded by Family Mart, local supermarkets, post offices and restaurants. 3. The host (MULAN) is super nice, recommended us great attractions, and introduced us to the cultural stories behind the attractions. The host and her husband drove us to the attractions and even drove us to Kyoto station on the last day, which was very convenient for us. Recommended this homestay, perfect for a family and a group of 3-5 friends.

Host is friendly and responsive, house is very traditional with modern upgrades. Though with the amount of space and rooms would be nice if the beds are not all in one room.

A beautiful place that’s really right in the middle of the tea fields in Wazuka! Mao and Tomo and great hosts, but far more than hosts. We were family while we were here. Mao is an enthusiastic force and has unlimited energy. More than that - I had an injury while I was here (not on premises) that I needed to go to a hospital for, and Mao instantly responded to drive us to the right hospital all the way in Nara, waiting while they operated and making sure I was ok. She went above and beyond and moved way past the role of host to make sure I was ok. She cooked for us and drove us all around to show us the sights of the surrounding areas. We had a great week here and really felt the beauty and peace of Wazuka. Despite the injury we were able to have an amazing time here thanks to the compassion and care of the hosts.

Built in 1926, a traditional Japanese house with a beautiful garden. Former reception room

ChristineRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Thankyou Hiroko and Tetsuya for welcoming us into your beautiful home. We are a family of 4 adults and all loved being in a traditional private home, with such a beautiful garden and an interesting history. We had a wonderful private dinner, prepared by Chef Hiroko which was one of our favourite meals that we’ve had in Japan. Thankyou so much Hiroko. Tetsuya gave us great tips to walk from our accomodation to the Philosophers path which was stunning, esp in spring with the cherry blossom still blooming. We loved our stay here.

Overall very satisfied! The actual usable area of the room is large, without the feeling of being cramped, and it is very relaxing when you come home to rest, decorated in the style of an old Japanese house, worth savoring. It should be noted that the house is located on a hillside, and it will consume a certain amount of walking energy every day, so it is not recommended for the elderly and people with mobility issues, but it is very suitable for people who are healthy and love sports and hiking. There are no convenience stores nearby, so remember to buy what you need before you go home, but Larry provides a lot of snacks, drinks, and ingredients, including fresh eggs, tofu, and more, so you can make your own breakfast and meet most of your needs. There are very cute cats and dogs! Kyoto's climate is relatively humid, and it can be cold in the morning and evening. The blanket is a bit narrow, and Larry helped with another thin blanket. It is recommended to prepare a wider one in the future ~ Looking forward to staying again next time, thank you for your hospitality!

We couldn’t have asked for a better host for our first trip to Japan. We had an incident occur before our stay with one of our family members and the host went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. Not only did they show concern, they booked us taxis to assist us to get the help we needed. The home was beautifully appointed and was very comfortable for our family of 6. It was the experience I hoped for when booking. Otsu is a quiet town and made for a nice respite after the hustle and bustle of the crowds in Kyoto and Osaka. I highly recommend booking this home for your trip to Kyoto!
