Apartment vacation rentals in Shiga

Felt like a home away from home. The location is perfect, central to everything but quiet and peaceful. Walking distance to great food spots, grocery stores, bath houses, and super accessible to all the sites in Kyoto and public transportation. The inn has a communal vibe, so you have access to a well-stocked big open kitchen with free tea service, and dining area which makes it feel like family at meal times. The heat, water pressure, and wifi worked perfectly. Free access to bikes. Safe and private for solo female travelers like myself. There's even an area with free second-hand clothing in case you need an extra layer. Everyone respects the quiet of the building so it doesn't feel like loud hostel situation. Tadashi was lovely, the perfect host in all the ways- good-humored, helpful, kind, responsive, warm. I can't say enough good things about my stay. I only hope that I can return again very soon.

This was a fantastic place to stay during our road trip. Felt comfy, peaceful and safe. Included car space too which was super helpful. Will stay again if we find ourselves in the area.

GREAT location! Walkable to the train station and to many amazing restaurants, shrines, convenience stores, parks etc. Instructions for everything were crystal clear. The only thing I wish I had known is that it is on the corner of a very busy intersection so it was noisy at night and in the mornings. Also, there is a restaurant next door on the same floor so people coming and going to eat will be heard. If you are prepared for that, you’ll be totally happy with the convenient location. I went during the peak season (cherry blossom illumination for the neighborhood) so that is probably why it was so crowded/noisy! Possibly other times of the year are quieter. Also wish I had known- you will only be provided 1 towel/person for your entire stay and the towels are small and thin. Bring some if you can! Or you can wash it obviously. It rained while we were there so things took forever to dry. But there’s a laundromat within walking distance for drying if need be! Overall, great stay!

The house is very quiet and suitable for rest, the reception staff are also very welcoming, it was a very good experience!

My husband and I enjoyed staying here very much! The appartment was very central. Great to have an elevator for the heavy suitcases. Washer and dryer worked perfectly to wash our laundry. Beds were a bit hard to sleep on (futon) but other than that it was perfect! Thank you for being wonderful hosts!

The apartment is very nice, my family and I enjoy the entire stay in the apartment. The host is very friendly and keep constant communication with us and recommend local temple for sakura viewing with less tourist! Definitely I will book this apartment if I visit Otsu and Kyoto again!

I stayed at Hoshino’s for a night and was warmly welcomed by him. He showed me everything clearly and efficiently and made sure I felt right at home. Lovely location as well for some nice walks!

Our second time staying here and will come back again. Naoko is very kind, generous, hospitable, and helpful. The apartment is clean and comfortable and in the location that's not overwhelmed by seasonal tourists. We feel very much at home here.

The location for the room is wonderful - minutes walk to two different train stations. Just be warned that it is a busy area! Eri's room is very comfortable, if a little dark. Perfect for exploring Kyoto! Thanks for having us!

Loved our stay in Kyoto. Apartment was in a good, quiet location, very clean and tidy and walking distance to conveniences.

It was just perfect. The area was lively during the day and then quiet again in the evening. There are two train stations right next door, which makes you very flexible and means you can get into the city quickly. You should be aware that there is a railway crossing nearby that makes a bit of noise, but that wasn't so bad for me. If I lived in Kyoto, I would definitely be very happy living in this apartment. If I come back to Kyoto, I will book the same apartment again.

The host, Eri is a really friendly person and always responds to the question immediately. And the room got complete facilities. Really close to Fushimi Inari Shrine, if you would like to have the photo without the crowd, very convenient to get there in late night or early morning. Would definitely choose it again if back to Kyoto another time.

The cosy apartment was perfect for 2 of us. It's located in a quiet and peaceful area of Kyoto and was within walking distance of fantastic coffee shops and restaurants-this was great as a lot of the restaurants in Kyoto centre had extremely long queues. The host was extremely welcoming and met us at the apartment to check in. We'd definitely stay here again if returning to Kyoto.

A fantastic home for one. I wouldn’t recommend more as the bed is really for one person. Really central location between the park, nishiki market, and lots of other things. The host was so sweet and kind, made checking in and out a breeze.

華仔’s place was perfect and exactly what I was looking for; walkable distance to convenience stores and landmarks, cozy room and bed, well-stocked kitchen, all located in a super private and quiet area. I really liked the bathroom- it's super cute and vintage looking, I thought it had so much character! and the bed is MEGA comfy. Also 華仔 place some cold beers in the fridge, which I thought it was such a nice gesture! 華仔 was super friendly, got back to me super quickly and gave me a tour of the place when I arrived. I truly can't recommend this place enough.

The apartment is located in a aparthotels complex, i.e. you will find everything you can expect from a hotel room but with a kitchen. The receptionist is a sweet and lovely woman who served us extremely well. At Tayo we have not seen it; I understand that he will be a speculator more than touristic the area. I will not deny that with his directions I expected it to be an apartment of him or his family, and not a big business, but that's how things are. Still, I can't negatively rate the stay, then despite everything good, beautiful and cheap. A great stay in a super centric place.

Wonderful stay with extremely helpful host! Luggage transfer to the Airbnb was seamless and Yoshimi helped us with an issue we were having. Lovely to meet her at the Airbnb in person. The place itself is great walking distance to Nishiki market and other delicious restaurants. Loved staying here. Thank you so much!

Loved staying here, Taiyo’s family was so friendly and sweet. Was very helpful and I was also able to luggage forward to my next hotel as she called Yamato transport so they could pick up my luggage. Room was very spacious and had everything I needed. Would highly recommend and next time I’m in Kyoto I would definitely stay here again!!

The location of this stay was perfect, within walking distance of many of Kyotos must-see places and great restaurants. The apartment was small (like most Japanese apartments), but incredible value for the price. Taiyo was helpful and responsive.

We had a great time at Taiyo’s apartment. The location is exceptional for the price. We were able to visit many tourist attractions by foot. Taiyo and his mother are lovely hosts. Thank you for being so flexible on our date change and arrival time, we greatly appreciated it.

We had a wonderful stay, Seth offered recommendations for the local area and was very responsive to any questions. The house itself was perfect for our stay with older children. The rooftop bath was a beautiful way to finish the day with the Kyoto skyline as my view! Would definitely love to return if we are ever back in Kyoto.

Guys, just get this place !! If you’re afraid of the bright lighting, it does not look like that at all 😂 it dims, I promise ! The wooden bath was so amazing, we didn’t even end up using the outside one. Place was honestly huge for the price too! The bedroom was also extremely comfy. Beautiful riverside and gardens nearby. Seriously, get this airbnb and you will be happy with your stay 👍 trust me

We stayed at four airBnb‘s in Japan and all have their good points, but this was by far the best. Located in a quiet suburb so not walking distance to the main sites of Kyoto, but with some lovely sites that we would not have seen otherwise Close by. It was as simple Uber ride or train ride to get into Kyoto for main sightseeing and it was lovely to come home to a quiet un bustling local with a wide choice of excellent restaurants to choose among. The apartment itself is spacious, by far the most spacious we stayed in And it’s part of a an apartment complex which has a small gym. Nori and Fumi even served us breakfast all three days we were there in another upstairs breakfast room. To top it off, they picked this up and dropped us off at this train station three days later. All in all it was a really welcoming and comfortable place to stay, well worth the price we paid
