Yurt vacation rentals in Mississippi River

Had an amazing experience at Twisted Twig Yurt! We stayed in February and the snowy location and quiet surroundings were perfect. We stayed warm with the wood stove and wood provided. Clean and had everything we needed and lots of small touches that showed forethought about our experience. Easy drive into Bayfield, shopping and great lunch at Many Penny. Experienced the Chequamegon Bay ice caves and Mt Ashwabay cross country skiing what a great experience with our cozy home base at the Yurt.

The walk in is about 1/2 mile, but at a steep grade - be ready. The yurt was GREAT! A wonderful wood stove, lots of wood, and an AMAZING view. Secluded and peaceful, loved it.

I had an excellent stay. Really enjoyed the experience staying here on a rainy night. The fireplace was perfect for taking off the chill and it was peaceful listening to the rain on the yurt roof while staying dry. I will certainly be back!

Great weekend getaway! We booked pretty last minute, Wil was flexible and place was in great shape when we arrived. Everything we needed was already there!

Susan was a great host! She responded quickly to my questions and was more than accommodating with my plans to stay in a yurt. This is the second time in my life. She greeted us when we arrived and gave an explanation about the property…. Including the history. I love that stuff. There is a barn that has WiFi and some other amenities. It’s not a long walk. The yurt is pretty much like staying in a very large tent, but nicer. It was a quick trip. I wish we could have stayed longer. I would love to go back with my family when we can. Thanks, Susan!

The “Round House” was so cutely decorated and cozy! Katie provided everything you could need. (The weather was cold-the mattress warmer was a happy surprise!!). The view was wonderful. All around great stay!!

We really enjoyed our stay for my husbands birthday! He said all he wanted was peace and quiet and a hot tub and that’s exactly what we got! AND wonderful massage therapists that come to you! Was one of the best massages we’ve ever had!! Will absolutely be coming back here!

Very clean. Provided a brand new grill. Firewood. Everything was fantastic. This will become a yearly thing for us. If not twice a year. We love it.

We had a great time in the yurt, which felt very authentic and distinctive. This trip felt like camping with a very well appointed high-end super tent. The provided cooler and battery bank for lighting created a very comfortable experience. We’ll consider booking again, especially with similar weather to our mid May booking. Thanks again!

Staying in the yurt was nice. We really enjoyed the fire pit, deck, and the hot tub. A great place to unwind and the yurt was very cozy inside. The Daisy Queen is a really good burger joint. Boston Mountain Pizza was excellent We went to the Collier Homestead which was neat, and went ahead and walked the loop to the overlook and that was very scenic. Very nice maintained trail, easy walk. If you’ve never stayed in a yurt, be prepared for noises. You can hear just about everything outside and the tent itself makes a lot of pops and crackles. The grounds were really cool and we spent some time walking around exploring the creek. Drove down to the Buffalo access at the end of Zack Rd but the river was too high to do much. The drive was fun. Overall we enjoyed our stay here and had everything we needed

Was exactly what we needed, an escape from the city and it was a beautiful getaway. I was worried about the yurt being too cold, but the fireplace heats up the space very quickly! They have lots of blankets and heaters and fans and the entire thing has electricity! It was awesome!

Unique & peaceful place to stay that feels like you’re camping, but easy to get into town for food or the store. Also big fan of the friendly dogs who live on the property!!

Very beautiful area with lots of chances for exploring and bird watching.

Katherine was always available and answered all our questions quickly. The location was private yet still close enough to grab a few things from the local Walmart. Would definitely recommend.

My husband and I were looking for a peaceful getaway that was still close enough to make it to our kids’ ball games in Athens, and this place was exactly what we needed. From fishing on the property to exploring the beautiful grounds, we felt like we were worlds away from the chaos of Houston. The home was spotless, cozy, and perfectly tucked away to enjoy nature, yet just 15 minutes from great restaurants and anything we needed. Nathan was incredibly responsive, even with our late check-in. We’ll absolutely be back—and if you’re looking for a quiet escape that still keeps you connected, this is the spot. Can’t recommend it enough.

Danna' yurt was an absolute dream! Close to many restaurants, hiking spots, and beautiful views, while still feeling private and secluded. The yurt was thoughtfully decorated and delightfully cozy. Will definitely be my new go-to spot anytime I'm in the Northwoods. Truly such a gem.

We stayed at John’s place. The AC worked well. We enjoyed the simple tranquility of being out in nature. It was quiet and we used the fire pit, got to see the stars. Looked like the pictures, had the campy outdoor vibe.

We all enjoyed our stay at the Geneseo Campground and in the yurt. The campground hosts were friendly and helpful. The yurt was a lovely change from tent camping.

The yurt was perfect! Truly had everything you need for the weekend! Even a full week or more! The bed was extremely comfortable the most comfortable I’ve had in a yurt or cabin like. Sue was so kind and responsive even when I had 100 questions! It was really cold and rainy the weekend we went so I didn’t want to take a river shower. She allowed us to use her shower in the main house which I was extremely grateful for! Absolutely no downfalls. Just watch out for ticks and make sure you spray yourself. A few latched onto my feet. Thankfully, Sue has bug spray supplied!
