Lovely bedroom and bathroom which were very nicely decorated and very clean. Dinner and breakfast at the pub were very tasty and good value. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location is great for just off the A66 which made an excellent stop off place. Would thoroughly recommend.

Only negative is that we couldn't stay for longer! We stayed in the Garden room for 1 night at the end of our trip to the Lakes but will definitely be returning when we're back in the area. Beautiful and quiet surroundings, perfect for our springer spaniel - the dog blankets were extra helpful to have! Thanks again 😊

We had a lovely stay! The room was clean and just what we needed, the pub was a lovely country pub with good food!

Pretty good location. Everything is just perfect considering the price, except the room is bit of cold, remember to bring warm clothes!

Booked at the last minute fory birthday - everything in our room was perfect and ready for us to check in early despite booking late in the night before - clean and tidy/the location is absolutely perfect close to the lake and the shops and pubs ect. Richard was a great host throughout and we even got to see the badgers in their front garden!

Excellent lodging in a lovely pub with a great selection of food and beers etc. Quiet location a couple of miles from Appleby centre. Highly recommended.

This is a great place to stay with a great bar, good wine selection and menus. It is an old inn with nooks and crannies, beams and smooth stones, arm chairs and outside spaces. The single room was very good, well planned, great en-suite. Towels were huge, white and fluffy. I needed a stopover on a long journey and couldn’t have done better.

Lovely place to stay! Very welcoming and homely. Our kids loved it too and enjoyed the garden space and the animals. Cat was very responsive and helpful in her comms. Provided everything we needed. Thank you!

We stayed here for four nights, and wish we could have stayed longer! It's so peaceful and cosy. The cottage has everything you need, including beautiful views and a wonderful fireplace. An amazing place to relax and unwind. Warm rooms, a good shower, and a suntrap on the deck out front. There is good phone signal (and WiFi) if you need it, but it's a great place to be tech-free. Close to all of the Roman "attractions". Anne and Maurice were very friendly and welcoming. We will be recommending to friends!

We had the most wonderful stay at Bulls Close Cottage. The second we walked in we felt right at home, and so cosy! The cottage is beautifully decorated and Sam had left so many thoughtful touches - treats for our dog and treats for us, extra blankets for us and blankets for the dog! The garden is gorgeous, we didn't get the weather to use it much but we enjoyed looking out at it! The village the cottage is in is very pretty and peaceful and the area is a walker's paradise (close to the Yorkshire 3 peaks and Malham Cove to name a few fantastic walks). Though we didn't meet Sam, she was super responsive and friendly, and made us feel very welcome. I would highly recommend this cottage - one of our favourite places we've stayed.

This is the most beautiful modern lodge I’ve stayed at, everything is high quality, exceptionally clean, everything and more that you need, cozy& comfy the beds are amazing big tv with Netflix etc, Alexa speaker, Vicki even had a bottle of Prosecco ,birthday balloon & happy birthday playing on the tv for my mums birthday& the fire lit for when we walked in , fresh free range eggs, milk , shortbread biscuits and even biscuits for the dog. Vicki goes above and beyond and always there to answer any questions, and the views are just WOW . Woke upto see the highland cow and her baby every morning , chickens and ducks pottering around sheep in field , Honestly it is stunning & I can’t recommend enough. I can’t wait to go back in the summer Thankyou Vicki for an amazing10/10 break

Great cozy cottage! Exactly what we were hoping for and more. Beautiful inside and outside seating area was great too.

Great location in very small village, we were stopping off on way to highlands of Scotland. Sarah was very welcoming- suggested a great walk for the dog and somewhere to eat. Very comfortable, clean room and hosts couldn’t have been more concerned that we had enough tea/ coffee etc, and were warm enough!

Everything about our stay was wonderful from start to finish, some lovely added extras left to sweeten our stay. We’ll most definitely return.

Ruth and James are a lovely couple and nothing was too much trouble. Elegant property, which they have planned and maintained to a very high standard. All their descriptions of the facilities are accurate, and even a bit understated. Their local knowledge of restaurants and walking routes are very helpful. Great stay at a more than reasonable cost! Great stay at Little Winton, ideally located for our visit to the area, delightful, beautifully presented property. Super hosts, highly recommend.

Danny and Deborah were perfect hosts. We were visiting the area as we used to live there, so knew the area. They were both welcoming and we had a welcoming bottle of wine 🍷 and chocolate 🍫 which was nice. They were available if we needed them and always happy to chat, but were not invasive. The accommodation was great, plenty of room for two and everything we needed. The garden, what can I say!! One of the most beautiful gardens I’ve seen, with chickens 🐓 and ducks 🦆, which meant fresh eggs. Outdoor furniture to make the most of the fine weather. All in all a wonderful visit and we will be back. Thanks, Andrew and Jane x

Great stay at Alisons coach house. Alison was fab host, very responsive, good communication. Coach House felt like home, clean, well equipped and as described. Fabulous welcome basket, much appreciated. Great location for Hexham and Hadrains wall. Would have loved to stay longer. Would definitely recommend. Would love to visit again, as the area has lots to do. Thanks Alison for a lovely long weekend, we had a fantastic time. Amanda & Marc 😀

I came here for a short stay and I cannot recommend the suite enough, the photos really don’t do justice about how lovely this suite is. The place was well set up and clean, has all the necessary amenities to cook (Oven, 4 burner hob, large sink, microwave, kettle, toaster etc.) plus all the required utensils, and especially important for me, a big enough fridge with a freezer. Local shops/restaurants are all located in walking distance and the sea is also in walking distance. Location is great for access to lots of walking/hiking/cycling in the Lakes too. I drove to Ennerdale Water (30 min drive) and did a lovely 7 mile walk round there. Plus Wasdale Water and Scafell are close by too. Very clear guidance and information pack. Host contacted before and after stay. 100% going to come back here again. Thank you!
