Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Guimaraes

I spent a glorious month at Maria Celeste’s home. It was simply the best place to reset, connect with nature & rest. I’ve never been to a more peaceful home. Freshly squeezed orange juice (from trees) every morning. Lemons for water. A natural spring to swim off hiking grime. Mountains to climb surrounding the entire home. Lizard & butterfly friends. And so so quiet. Maria Celeste picked me up & drove me to the location. Taxi services available to go to town when needed. I can not recommend staying at this home more. If you need some R’n’R, stay. You won’t regret it.

Rafael's place is absolutely gorgeous! On arrival, he gave us a warm tour and shared the property's history—fascinating. It's beautifully restored, surrounded by trees offering total privacy. His dad keeps bees nearby (we could’ve visited) and grows cherries, lemons, and oranges—he encouraged us to help ourselves, and they were delicious. The property was perfect for two, with a well-appointed bathroom, living area, and a private pool—compact but fits four comfortably. Rafael was super attentive and responsive, a brilliant host who clearly takes pride in the place. A few minor notes: the pool has no cover or hoover, so needs a quick skim due to nearby trees (his dad cleans it regularly); there are only 3 loungers and 2 extra chairs at the front; and indoor seating isn’t the comfiest for four, with 2 chairs being wicker which differs from the listing. These aren’t real negatives—just things to note. Amazing value and we’d love to return when we're back in the area!

We had an amazing time at this lovely house! The place was spotless, beautifully decorated, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The location was perfect—close to the river. What really stood out was the warm hospitality. Our host was incredibly kind and helpful, offering great local tips and making us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. Beautiful location, private and serene, Maria Lurdes is a fantastic host. She took time to show us around and explain the local culture and towns. The house is beautiful with so much space for games, gym, office space, living area is spacious for large groups. The river is right in front with easy access. Will definitely go back again to enjoy the house and Maria’s great hospitality. Would easily give the place 6 STARS out of 5!!!!

Five stars to Casa de Cardido and to Rui and Alexandra for being wonderful hosts. We were a little late checking in, but Rui greeted us with a smile and a very generous tabua of local cheeses and meats. The hosts go above anything expected, with a sound system at the pool, exercise equipment, and fresh bread delivered daily. The house is a traditional Portuguese home - and it feels like a “home” not a rental. We spent two weeks here and it felt like staying with family. I noticed that one review commented on how close the highway is. Please know this is not a problem. You can see the highway when approaching the home from the road, but you cannot hear it and it does not interfere with the experience. This is very high quality stay with caring and involved hosts that will make sure you have all you need. I highly recommend.

We had a great stay, we will definitely go back. The house is extremely comfortable, beautiful and versatile, it gives both a warm and cold height. The location is perfect, both for those who want to know Gerês, and for those who just want to rest and enjoy the amenities of the house. The hosts are super friendly and flexible, I highly recommend!

The accommodation, in the center of the city, is as it appears in the photos: a country house in the middle of the city. Antonio is very friendly and helpful. We had a bit of a problem with the bathroom I fix it quickly and very effectively. Undoubtedly to recommend and go back!!

My husband and I enjoyed a marvelous stay at Art Douro! Great location, stylish decor and efficient kitchen. While it was a bit of a trek to the vibrant area of Nova de Gaia and city of Porto, it was a pleasant walk along the river. We prepared several meals in the kitchen and loved the view while dining from the table in the living room. Evening drinks on the balcony were lovely as we viewed the moon and the lights of Porto glistening on the river. Thank you for the easy check in, prompt communication, and comfortable accommodation!

Everything was excellent! The apartment was very clean when we arrived and had everything we needed to feel at home. Modern and comfortable. The outdoor space was also very nice. The ideal place to spend a few days in peace and tranquility.

This really is an outstanding property, worthy of its 5☆ status. The owners are very welcoming, with lots of local recommendations. The quality of the furnishings, bedding, towels etc go beyond 5 star, and the view from the balcony is amazing, we didn't want to leave. A wonderful stay, in a wonderful city, with amazing hosts, who really go out of their way, to make your stay special. Obrigada.

Third floor apartment in an excellent location in Guimaraes. Three bedrooms and a good sized living room and dining area. Less than 10 minute walk to the historic center and the Castelo at the top of the hill. Would recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay for a group of 4-8.

Beautiful tranquil little converted farmhouse. All the amenities you need, lovely pool and very friendly dog. It is walkable to supermarket and local bars or a cab to Guimarães is very cheap. Our host was very friendly and helpful throughout.

The apartment is great, renovated and comfortable. The stay was lovely The location is perfect, in the central region, it has a full range of services and catering. Visitar Guimarães was amazing. Being at Teresa's apartment made the visit more enjoyable and practical. I recommend.

Nuno was great and the place was in a fantastic location to explore Porto. We were able to walk to all our spots and very reasonably priced as well. Great deal!

Martha is a welcoming host and responds quickly and adequately. The apartment was ready to move in well in time. Great beds & bath linens. The location is nice and central to visit the city, definitely recommended. During our stay there was some noise during the day due to work on the square but that is something of a temporary nature. We had a great time here.

The apartment is currently under renovation and we have been given the one downstairs, which is similar but with a large terrace. The apartment is still new, comfortable and very clean. From May 22 to 29, with my wife and son, we stayed in this apartment equipped with every comfort, all the appliances in the kitchen and bathroom are new. All linens, bed and bath, were available and perfect. Comfortable and large double bed In addition, the house has perfect and fast Wi-Fi and two new air conditioners The accommodation is located near Campanha, in a quiet area and the condominium is very quiet. David was kind and helpful, answering our questions immediately A stay to be repeated definitely... Highly recommended. The apartment is very beautiful and in a great central area. We went everywhere by foot. The communication with Daniel was perfect, he is very nice and responded quickly. We really enjoyed our stay there.

All I can say is wow! We spent 11 days staying at Adriano’s apartment and it felt like home! I don’t think I’ve ever stayed in such a well equipped Air BnB. If you could think of it, Adriano had it. In the bathroom there was shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hair dryer and hair straighteners. In the kitchen there was every utensil you could think of and more, I think you could cook a full Sunday roast dinner and have every pan and dish required! We are a family of four, with children aged 5 and 7. They made the most of the swimming pool during our stay and the beach. The pool is cool but refreshing. The sea was like ice but we made good games of jumping the waves and splashing one another. The beach is less than a five minute walk from the apartment and is a must during your stay, even if it’s just to watch the surfers fight the waves. It’s a very peaceful beach! Adriano is a great host and very helpful. We will be looking to stay again if we come back to the area!

Joao was a super great host, very helpful and very flexible on check in which he met us personally to give us a walk through of everything. Very responsive and the place was perfect with a little garden to have coffee in the morning. Great location and enough provisions for our short stay. Highly recommend!

The apartment is very cozy, clean and very spacious. A very communicative host, responds quickly to messages. We received very accurate directions to the apartment, which was very helpful. Location a short walk from the center, but for us it was not a problem - we wanted the apartment to be close to the university (about 10 minutes walk to the university). I would definitely recommend this place!
