Loved staying at Paula's place! Very quaint and cozy and she left treats out for our travelling dog, Frankie (which he absolutely loved). She also had great recommendations for parks to take Frankie for a walk

Brand new 'Loft' in Chamartín

FazzaRating, 5 stars6 days ago
The airbnb was generally great with easy access and check in. Host was communicative and no issues despite the fact that we had quite a late flight and checked in close to midnight. The location is a little out of the way from the main city centre but it is easy enough to travel using public transport which was around a ten minute walk away. We did have a small issue with one of the pillows having a small stain but there were extra pillows and sheets in the cupboard that we used that were clean so easily fixed problem.

Private pool (April-Oct). 2bd house in Madrid City

ThomasRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We had a fantastic stay! The house was lovely—quiet and peaceful, perfectly located just far enough from central Madrid to feel relaxed, but still close enough to get into the city quickly by cab, metro or a walk if you’re up for it. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and proactive. The real highlight was the pool and garden—an absolute dream to come back to after a day exploring in the Spanish heat. Highly recommended!

JoRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Beautiful roof top apartment in the perfect location for seeing Madrid. Great local and reasonably priced restaurants, far better than the tourist ones. Pablos instructions were very clear and helpful as were his recommendations of where to eat and what to do. There is a supermarket less than 5 minutes walk away. Pablo checked in with us a couple of times via text to ensure we were happy with everything, he’s a great host.

NEW Madrid Best Views Apartment Plaza Colón

EdsonRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
The apartment is very well located. With the Colon subway a few steps away, but the entrance to the property is on a street with little traffic despite being in a very busy area. What makes it private upon arrival. It has a reception in case you want to leave your luggage. Although the entrance is completely independent of this reception. Check-in is key Everything was excellent. Very clean and incredible views. The location is a few steps from the roundabout to Colon.

Very walkable to all the great restaurants and bars and all the sights to see. He had many extras that were unexpected, but very helpful and appreciated. Definitely above and beyond all other stays we’ve been to. We will definitely stay here again when we’re in Madrid!!!

Plaza Mayor 4 Bedrooms 3 Baths Refurbished - 8pax

EricRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We had a lovely two-week stay in Madrid, using this apartment as our home base. Located right on Plaza Mayor, with lovely views out the doors and from the balcony, this is a fabulous location. We were concerned about noise being a problem, but it really just showed the life in the Plaza and was quiet by midnight. We opted to eat off the plaza most meals, as there are better options and more affordable (less touristy). Easy to get to many parts of Madrid from this location, whether by walking, catching the train/subway, or getting a taxi. The apartment is very nicely appointed with a great kitchen and living room. Beds and bathrooms were nice too. We highly recommend this for families and groups visiting Madrid!

REAL SPANISH HOME PLAZA MAYOR

RickRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Pedro’s place in Madrid is wonderfully authentic! Pedro was waiting outside and immediately saw us looking around, and came up and warmly greeted us. He took us up to his place and showed us everything we needed to know. The apartment is beautifully decorated with his many antiques, making it feel so comfortable as a real Spanish home. Looking out the window from high above, you can see activity in the open gathering space below, with incredible Spanish architecture buildings all around. It’s in the heart of Madrid, with Mayor Plaza literally just around the corner! It's a convenient walk to all the sites we wanted to visit, and transportation is nearby as well. This place was one of our favorites during our seven week European trip. It made our stay in Madrid so satisfying! Than you, Pedro!

The ♥ of Madrid: Plaza Mayor seconds away!

DaveRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We thoroughly enjoyed Helen and Martin's flat right in the center of everything in Madrid. We walked everywhere comfortably and were able to see all of the attractions by foot. Helen provided great suggestions for what to see and do with "insider" knowledge. The flat was very clean and a great spot to come back to at the end of the day. We would highly recommend this flat to anyone who wants to be in the middle of the action in this dynamic city!!!

Modern and Central Apartment in Chamberi

JaredRating, 5 stars4 days ago
Very pleasant stay and a very organized host that made checking in/out super easy. The apartment was spotless when I got in and had a great AC which was important given the heat wave in Madrid. Only downside was not related to the host or apartment - one neighbor (upstairs or next door) started the washing machine at midnight and it was loud in the bedroom until it died down. Nothing the host can do about that so I just put earplugs in initially and had a good night sleep overall. Can recommend the flat overall as it's in a nice area and it's secure and managed by the host so everything was very easy to coordinate.

Your guide to Madrid

Welcome to Madrid

Spain’s capital city is an exciting meld of the old and new. Madrid’s streets teem with stately palaces, ornate Belle Époque buildings, and modern architecture, and its skyline is spiky with soaring slate spires. This is also a place that celebrates its abundant open spaces. The River Manzanares, which slices through the city, is crisscrossed by arched bridges and lined with walking paths and green spaces such as the modern Madrid Río Park, a landscaped stretch of riverbank activated with playgrounds, performance spaces, and the Arganzuela Bridge, which looks like an enormous metal spring.

In the evening Madrid’s vibrant nightlife awakens, as revelers flock to bars, clubs, and restaurants that stay open until the morning hours. Thanks to those privileged royals of yore, the city is a marquee arts destination, studded with world-class museums and galleries that still benefit from the largess of rulers who supported famous artists. Madrid’s artistic reputation is only rivaled by its gastronomic one — the food here, from traditional tapas to reservations-required upscale dining, is reliably excellent.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Madrid

Late spring and early summer are prime seasons in Madrid, when temperatures are warm but not scorching, and open-air markets, sidewalk cafes, and plazas hum with activity. Summers are hot and dry, and autumns mild. Winters are cold, although snow is infrequent. In the middle of May, the city comes together for an annual weeklong celebration of the city’s patron saint, Isidor the Laborer, with street festivals, dancing, and feasting. The city’s LGBTQ+ Pride event in June has grown to be one of Madrid’s marquee celebrations, and crowds flow into the city for days of festivities.

Top things to do in Madrid

Museo del Prado

Housed in a circa-1785 palace (with some modern additions) the Museo del Prado is home to more than 7,000 paintings. Its vast collection includes works by only-last-name-needed artists such as Goya, Velázquez, and El Greco. It’s within walking distance of two other heavyweight art museums, the contemporary Museo Reina Sofía — home to Picasso’s Guernica — and the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, which showcases works by European masters.

Parque del Buen Retiro

This 17th-century park is studded with ornate marble buildings, a placid boating lake, and shade trees. Some of its unique features include what is believed to be the oldest tree in Madrid — a 400-year-old Mexican conifer — and the Palacio de Cristal, a glass and iron greenhouse repurposed as a modern art gallery.

Metro Museums

As you zip around the city, take a moment to explore some of the unique displays within the transit system. The Ópera station houses an archeological museum showcasing 16th- and 17th-century artifacts unearthed during construction. A paleontology exhibit in the Carpetana station displays the fossils of prehistoric animals; the Chamberí station, which opened in 1919, is now closed to trains but open to visitors, and retains its original billboards and other period details.
