Canals & Cocktails: Canal view
Welcome to Rosalia’s Menagerie, this modernized 17th-century canal house features a cocktail bar and six personally styled hotel rooms upstairs. Each a unique mix of style, charm and practicality. Our three larger Canal View rooms (22m2) at the front of the building have king-sized beds with views over our lovely wide canal and en bathrooms with rain showers. All our Canal View rooms feature air-conditioning and white-noise machines to lull you to sleep. On the principal floor you will find our cozy little cocktail bar inspired by Dutch heritage with its rich history in the trade, distilling, and innovation. We look forward to sharing our passion for Jenever and great locally-made spirits with you, as well as, showcase extraordinary products from abroad. Upstairs you will find “Rosalia’s Inn Upstairs”, our lovely little hideaway. With six lovely rooms overlooking either the canal or a fetching Amsterdam secret garden. We offer exceptional hospitality for the cultural pilgrim, the hopeless romantic and weary business traveler alike. Rosalia’s Menagerie is a unique canal house hotel with an amazing cocktail bar and appealing rooms that become a home in Amsterdam to our guests. Tucked into Amsterdam's urban fabric, located on the Kloveniersburgwal Rosalia’s menagerie offers the city at your doorstep. You will find the Nieuwmarkt square and Chinatown to the North, the University of Amsterdam and Amstel river to the South, the old Jewish Quarter to the East and the Dam and Red Light District to the West. The perfect hotel for anyone wanting to be in the center of the best Amsterdam has to offer regarding restaurants, cafes, museums, design, shopping and everything else. We are proud to be located on one of Amsterdam's older canals dating from the late 1400's. Directions 1. Amsterdam Schiphol Airport to the hotel By train Trains run from Schiphol airport to "Amsterdam Centraal Station" every 10 to 15 minutes and the journey takes about 15 minutes as well. In addition to the ticket price of approximately €4,50, there is a €1,00 supplement for a single-use chip card and a €0,50 surcharge for credit cards. (Note: Only coins or Visa or MasterCard with chip and pin can be used at the train stations). From the station we are easily reached by foot or public transport (see below). By Taxi Would you like to be picked up at Schiphol airport and brought straight to the hotel hassle-free? We can arrange for a taxi to be waiting for you at the airport to bring you directly to the hotel for a fixed rate of €49,50 (for 1-3 persons & mobile phone number necessary for this rate). Taxi-vans are available for 4-6 persons at a rate of €59,50. Taxi's from the 'Taxi stand' at the airport will charge you anywhere between 50-70 euros. There is no fixed rate for the journey from the airport to the city center, the driver will use his meter and the fare will depend on traffic conditions and the route taken. 2. “Amsterdam Centraal” train station to the hotel By foot The hotel is just a 10 minute walk from the Amsterdam Centraal Station. When you exit the station you'll see a large church on your left hand side and on the right hand side of that a large NH hotel. Walk towards them and on the right hand side of the hotel will be a street called the Zeedijk. Follow this street to the end and you will reach Nieuwmarkt square. Cross the Nieuwmarkt square on the right hand side. On the other side of the square will be a canal. You will find us on the right hand side of this canal (Kloveniersburgwal) at #20, about 200 meters from the square. By Public Transport You can take the Metro (subway) from under Amsterdam Centraal Station. Lines 51, 53 & 54 run from Amsterdam Centraal Station to the Nieuwmarkt square (just one stop). When you get out of the Metro train walk to the Nieuwmarkt exit. When you get out at the square the hotel will be on the canal (Kloveniersburgwal) to your left hand side at #20. We do not advise taking a tram, as this will not get you any closer to the hotel than walking from the station. By Taxi (We DO NOT advise this) You are allowed to choose your taxi and should take a TCA taxi, if possible. Taxi's in Amsterdam charge by the distance driven plus waiting time. Taxi's at Amsterdam Central station are notorious for overcharging and/or taking you on a detour. A taxi ride from Centraal Station to the hotel is only 1 kilometer so it should cost no more than €10,- on the meter. You have the right to refuse to pay anything more than this. In this case you will also need to note the car number, license plate number, name of driver (if possible), date and time so that we can file a complaint. 3. Arriving by Car Please contact us directly if you will be arriving with your own car. We will send a complete pdf with parking information as there are several options for parking your car in Amsterdam. Parking your car on the street in Amsterdam is expensive and difficult. Please note that the rate is €7,00 per hour and must be paid from 9am to 4am! By far the best option is to park your car in the following parking garage: Parking centrum Oosterdok Oosterdoksstraat 140 1011 DK Amsterdam This parking is located next to Amsterdam Central Station. You can reserve a day ticket at their website and then you can park your car in the city center of Amsterdam at a remarkable affordable price. Currently there are 150 places available for € 5 to € 15. Are these places full? Don't worry, you are still welcome for their regular low daily rate of € 20 - € 25 per day. You pay € 6 per hour for the first 6 hours of parking. After 6 hours (up to 24 hours) of long-term parking, the rate will drop and you will pay the discounted daily rate of € 20 - € 25. This build-up will be repeated after 24 hours. There are more parking garages, sometimes, slightly closer to the hotel, but they are far more expensive and some of them have strange opening hours.
