Family-friendly vacation rentals in Amsterdam

This is our third time staying at Tine’s cottage over the past nearly ten years. It feels like a home away from home. We love Tine and she treats everyone like family. In case you don’t know already, this cottage sits on a quiet street, with its own private parking, entrance, and privacy. It is a very short walk into the backside of Zaanse Schans by the Windmills. You can borrow one of Tine’s many bicycles or simply walk the flat peaceful lanes into the open air park and experience clogs making, cheesemaking, stroopwafels, historic homes and neighborhoods well preserved, shops and gifts, a museum, and the most beautiful intact and functioning windmills you’ll find anywhere in the area - plus much more. It’s only 7-8 minutes to the Zaanse Schans train station and a straight shot in 15 minutes on the train to Centraal Station. Also very easy to get to Keukenhof via train, car, bus, etc. Grocery stores and restaurants close by. Our favorite spot out of all we’ve stayed at in Holland!

We stayed for a couple of days while visiting Amsterdam and Leiden - it was fantastic for the train and a real quiet cosy little place Kitty was a lovely host, she sent the most comprehensive directions I’ve ever gotten to find the place from the station and was super speedy to respond. Thanks for having us 😊

Our family (3 kids 9-13) really enjoyed staying at Elisabeth’s home. It was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. The location was beautiful and an easy walk to the village for shopping, dining and necessities.

We had a great time at this house which is superb! Very spacious, clean and perfectly equipped, for both adults and children. Everything necessary for babies is there (high chair, baby bed, play mat, etc.), which is really appreciated. The neighborhood is quiet, with supermarkets nearby, and Amsterdam can easily be reached in 40 minutes by car. The host was lovely, very responsive and welcoming. No complaints, everything was perfect.

We felt right at home, a quiet area, with amenities all nearby 3 km from the center of Haarlem. To get to Amsterdam we used the train that in 10 minutes reaches Amsterdam Central Station. Highly recommended.

Great host, Nice contact person, many materials available, shampoo, and coffee pads and beach toys. Great for kids, except you have to be careful on the stairs. We felt very comfortable. Nearby walking distance. Whether shopping, beach or dunes. What more could you ask for? Thank you very much for our short vacation trip with you. 🙂

If you’re planning a trip to Amsterdam, I highly recommend staying in Haarlem, just half hour away. This home is highly recommended and the neighborhood is a much cleaner, tamer and friendlier Amsterdam. The city center is great with lots of good restaurants and shops and it’s all within a 10 minute walk from this charming home. As far as the hosts, Sjoerd and Judith are among the best and genuine hosts I came across with on AirBnB. Amazing and timely communication and very friendly. Highly recommended!

A little far from city center, but great place to stay outside of the city!

Lovely and authentic family home. Kids enjoyed the garden and park area, and we had everything needed to cook and get around the area.

My family and I felt right at home. It was absolutely as described. Very idyllic, quiet and as soon as the sun came out a dream to spend time outside. Anita was super sweet and even brought some cake. It was really great and this beautiful property was just a dream.

We had a great stay at Keren & Azy. Their house is very welcoming and spacious. In addition, the communication was very simple and convenient. I recommend that anyone wishing to spend their holidays in Amsterdam to select this house.

Very nice and stylish house. Elisabeth provided us very helpful information for the house and for activities and was always available in case of questions. The house is very close to the small village centre and also close to the beach, Harlem and Amsterdam - Just perfect :-)

Truly an amazing stay! The only downsides I believe were a lack of a microwave and toaster. I was also a little surprised by the unexpected tax I had to pay separately Idealy I hope for this Tourist tax to be included in the total payment next time please because nobody carries cash now days Other than that the view was spectacular! The place was super comfy and the area was very peaceful. Thank you so much! had a brilliant experience

Francine's apartment is even more beautiful than the photographs, it is equipped with everything and you really feel at home. The neighborhood is very green and quiet. It's convenient to use the metro to visit all the places in and around Amsterdam. There are various shops and a supermarket nearby. We also had a picnic at the swimmable lake near the house. Francine was always available with us, even though she was not present. He still welcomed us in person with his children, who were also very nice. I recommend this place to everyone.

Beautiful and very comfortable home. Hidde made practically his entire house available to us. It has a beautiful garden that allows you to dine outdoors. Extremely quiet and peaceful area. We had a great time.

Yolande was very friendly and we had pleasant contact before and during the stay. We had a nice weekend in her house and would come back again if we want to be in the area again.

We were a family of 6 and Peter’s place comfortably hosted us. The place has so much potential. We had had everything we needed for our trip.

Very nice place in the heart of Amsterdam and yet nice and quiet inside. The loft has an incredibly comfortable bed while there is a very acceptable sofa bed below. There is also another solution for a smaller individual who wants to sleep alone. The kitchen is well appointed, no microwave but everything you really need. Andrew was very responsive, and the lock system works really well, giving multiple people free movement.

Edam is a great place where you can easily get everything you need on foot. It has lots of great restaurants in walking distance and everywhere has picturesque canals and waterways. Super friendly and relaxed home with top class amenities. Perfect for a family .

Had a lovely weekend in this spacious home. All amenities are available. Also enjoyed the infrared sauna.

We had the most wonderful stay in this charming cabin nestled on the property of a windmill in Alkmaar. From the moment we arrived, our hosts Kelly and Han made us feel completely at home. They went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect—so kind, welcoming, and full of great local tips. The cabin itself is a dream—coziness taken to the next level. Every detail was thoughtfully put together, and it was the perfect place to unwind to relax. Waking up next to a windmill felt like something out of a fairytale. Alkmaar itself is a beautiful village full of history, with adorable shops and restaurants to explore. The charming canals add to the magical atmosphere, and it’s easy to hop on a train to Amsterdam for a day trip. We’re already dreaming of our return and feel so lucky to have made such lovely new friends in Kelly and Han. Highly recommend this magical spot to anyone visiting The Netherlands!

Sander's place is one of the best place that I have ever stay with Airbnb. It comfort and details can even matched the big five stars hotel brands.
