Shepherds hut vacation rentals in West Sussex

This was our second stay here, we last came January 2020 and it was just as beautifully maintained as it was then! We absolutely love the peaceful location, the hut is perfect and Paul is a fab host. Thank you for another wonderful stay.

As a regular walker on the South Downs Way, I always look forward to staying at Pauline's Shepherd's Hut. The welcome is always friendly, the hut is always clean and tidy. Comfort is guaranteed. Highly recommended.

Lovely stay for a few nights. The orchard is beautiful and completely enclosed even for our small dog (and child) so we could let him run around. Next to a quiet road, with occasional cars, the area is peaceful with the sounds of birds and occasionally the cows. We loved having the dining hut too so we could spread out a bit and toast marshmallows. Our five year old loved Dinosaur Island in the nearby country park and paddling in the lake there. We also had a wonderful day out on the Bluebell railway. Great short trip!

Sue is an amazing host and the hut was exactly what we hoped it would be - a peaceful weekend away with beautiful surroundings. Very functional hut - it had everything you would need. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be looking to come back!

We had such a nice time, the hotub was bliss and the animals were a highlight of our stay, especially Rusty the cat and the pig. The location is excellent being a 5 minute drive to the town and a short walk to the scenic winery. Would stay again 100%

Lovely stay at an off the grid shepherd’s hut, about 15 min drive away from Brighton. Hut was situated in a very private area surrounded by fields on the host’s farm property. Host was very helpful recommending things to do in the area including a picturesque walk over to a local pub. We really enjoyed the generous supply of firewood for heating the hut, as well as the selection of board games. Thanks again! We will be back, Ana & Chris

The cabin and the wagon were great and a lovely place to relax with cows and sheep grazing in the next field and walks around the farm and surrounding fields. Really thoughtful touches inside the cabin too. Perfect for a bank holiday, thanks a lot!

Had a lovely, peaceful time. The farm is very private and beautiful with lots of wildlife and farm animals. The accommodation itself is very comfortable and felt right at home. Lots of footpaths nearby and the grounds were nice to explore. Check-in was easy, hosts were responsive and helpful. A great trip all-round. Will definitely be back!

Spent the most beautiful evening in Sarah’s Shepard hut. Sarah could not have been more communicative and helpful with directions. Hut was so clean and a lovely surprise to have stocked with coffee and home made cookies!

We loved to stay at Emily's place, very cosy, peaceful and relaxing. Emily and her family are very approachable and friendly, for sure a place that we want repeat.

We had a wonderful stay at the shepherd’s hut. This was our 3rd stay, we simply love it! Tracey & Will are lovely friendly hosts & so very helpful. The supply of fresh breakfast the afternoon before, along with a flask of hot water & fresh freezer blocks is always so appreciated. The hut is cosy, very clean and comfortable, with everything required for cooking & eating by a fire A compost loo (in its own cute hut) just a stone’s throw away as well as a hot shower under another nearby oak tree, completely private and with amazing views. Perfectly situated for walks and just 5-10 mins drive to a choice of pubs if you fancy a break from the firepit. The shepherd’s hut is on its own in a field next to a nature reserve, making it an ideal place to escape to for some peace and serenity. Watch the sun rise with the mist slowly evaporating over the lake and listen to the dawn chorus - and the sunsets are stunning too! Fantastic place for bird lovers, we saw 2 white storks the last night.

It was our second stay at Emma‘s beautiful ‘woolly hut’. As ever it was a peaceful sanctuary with the comfiest bed I have ever slept in, surrounded by beautiful gardens. The chocolate brownies were absolutely delicious and the breakfast that was left for us every morning. We did a beautiful walk over Bignor hill and around the arundel area . We loved it!

The lake is a little oasis of nature with so much wildlife to take in that I frequently forgot my painting and just sat taking it all in. Cloud cover at night stifled my plan to do a bit of star-gazing, but sitting by the fire watching the bats flit overhead was rather magical in itself. The shepherd's hut has an incredibly comfortable bed and I slept so very well after an invigorating solar shower! I came away with a well rested mind and body and would highly recommend it, if this is what you seek. The site is accessible by bus, but make sure you get off at Tudor Close (don't miss your stop as I did!)

This Air BnB was the perfect stay! It had everything we could ever need including marshmallows for the fire pit! Facilities were super clean, and excellent quality! Fairy lights and blankets made the stay super cosy and we are very grateful for a lovely lovely weekend! thank you soo much!

I had a lovely stay at the shepherd’s hut, it’s a beautiful location and had all the amenities you’d need. Isobel was very friendly and responsive, and even offered to get the heating going on the pool for me. It’s useful that there’s a small M&S and nice cafe within walking distance too, so you’re not forced to drive for the essentials. Would definitely visit again!

We had a wonderful weekend at Katie's shepherds hut - it was absolutely idyllic and we will definitely be back. Katie was also extremely generous with the delicious food and drink provided in the shepherds hut for us to use including delicious eggs from her chickens. Thank you so much!

Had a lovely night in Jennifer’s Shepards hut, beautiful location and felt immediately cosy and comfortable. Beautiful walks in surrounding area and all the facilities to cook a lovely meal around the fire. Slept really well and felt so relaxed. The only downside was no coffee plunger/ jug for the morning, but that’s all. Otherwise perfect and would love to come back. Thank you Jennifer.

Seamless booking, check in check out process. Amenities and supplies (food, toiletries, towels, utensils) all amazing and way more than I expected at the price point. Exceeded expectations Oh and bedding was super comfy 10/10

A lovely place, couldn't fault it at all. Such a quaint hut. Great little private area next to the hut aswell. In top of this right next to Arundel, a gorgeous market town with lots to do. 100% will be recommending to F&F shame we weren't able to use the log burner, but I think we might have roasted!

We had the best time ever at Lycia’s shepherd hut. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the Lycia and Michael who showed us to the hut and made sure we had everything we needed and more for our stay. The hut completely exceeded our expectations. The hand-built fire pit and BBQ were incredible touches and we spent our evenings sitting by the fire, looking up at the stars, such a peaceful and unforgettable experience. The hut itself was cosy, beautifully done and far better than we could have imagined. Honestly, the pictures don’t do it justice! We’d recommend this shepherds to absolutely everyone. Thank you for an amazing stay Lycia and Michael, we’ll definitely be back!
