Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Morningside, Edinburgh

Great and clean house approximately 40 min. away from the city center. We were with the 4 of us and 2 of us had to sleep in the living room, but if you're not home that much that is not a problem at all. The neighbourhood was nice and quiet, and despite it not being close by any of the main tourist attractions of the city, the public transport to and from the city was relatively fast. The hosts were nice and easy to communicate with. Overall, a great place to stay! Would definitely recommend :)

Melissa’s place is amazing. 5 stars! There are a lot of wow characters in her place. The place is huge for just the two of us. The kitchen is spotlessly clean. It had everything we needed. The room is very comfortable and warm. We did not have to use public transport at all to get to all of the tourist spots. It is close to lots of the main sight seeing spots. Very convenient. Melissa is very friendly and helpful. She is very proactively with her communication. We supposed to contact her before we arrive but I did not read the instructions. She contacted us and sorted things. We only stay 2 days in Edinburgh, which we could stay for longer! Would stay in Melissa’s place again! Highly recommend it!

Great location with views of fields whilst being within easy access to Edinburgh. Friendly welcome on arrival. Very clean and tidy. Well furnished with everything you would need in the kitchen. Lovely stay and I would highly recommend.

This is the best place to stay in Edinburgh. The design and facilities are perfect. I really enjoyed my stay in this house. The owner is really kind and friendly.

The apartment was perfect for the two of us. It was about a 10 minute walk to the tram and about the same to Old Town. Shops and restaurants were just around the corner. The apartment was clean, and there was bread on the counter and milk in the fridge when we arrived. The aparment is upstairs, so you do have to go up a flight of stairs. It was a delightful place in the heart of Edinburgh!

The Garden Cottage was everything we hoped for and more. The location was very convenient to Stockbridge and all of its restaurants and shops. There are numerous bus stops within 10-20 mins walk to grab a quick bus up the hill into New Town, across Princes Gardens into Old Town, or even for easy day trips like to Rosslyn Chapel or Portobello. Victoria was a very accommodating host and easy to work with. The cottage had plenty of space, was very well equipped for self-catering, and was stocked with all the basics you need (e.g., coffee, tea, sugar, etc.). Having a washer and dryer (as well as a drying rack) was a luxury we’ve rarely seen in the UK or Europe.

This, by far, is the best stay I have visited. Marie is the perfect host, communicated in an exceptional manner, and provided the loveliest place to centre our stay in Edinburgh. From check in to check out, I felt welcome, comfortable, and well situated. Buses were frequent to go anywhere we needed and the accommodation was a welcome resting place after a long day of exploring. I have stayed many places but Marie's provided both the necessities and little extras that made this a fondly remembered experience rather than just a place to lay my head. I recommend this to anyone who wishes to visit and will be recommending it to family and friends who wish to visit in the future.

such a wonderful place, really enjoyed our 2 nights there, every room was top notch. Edinburgh was only 15mins drive away and really easy to get in to. Portobello Beach was 5 minutes walk with loads of cafes and bars. Gary sent clear instructions before we arrived and also on the day we left.

We stayed here for a weekend in Edinburgh and were more than happy.

Once you arrive at Edinburgh Train Station, you can get here by a 15-minute bus ride, and there are many great restaurants nearby. It’s highly recommended.

I was familiar with the area as it's where my father grew up so I chose this partly for sentimental reasons but also because Dalry is pretty close to the centre and Haymarket station. But the flat was great too, and as I rightly guessed it really was much better quality than the other options I saw elsewhere. I'll always find accommodation in the city expensive but this really was pretty much worth every penny. It met all my requirements. Compact but fully-equipped kitchen (with freebie tea bags, breakfast stuff etc.), really comfy bed (slept like a dream) and modern bathroom with proper shower. The whole flat was well furnished. While I was travelling alone this time, it would be ideal for 2 people too. I know my wife would have loved it. Fiona and Gareth were friendly and helpful in their communication with me, and always responded promptly. Everything was clearly outlined and explained. So to sum up, I genuinely enjoyed my stay here.

Accommodations were just as described and the location was perfect - near everything but off the beaten path. Also, very welcoming with games and books of interest and a kitchen that had just what was needed for cooking meals. The hosts were also friendly and greeted us when we arrived. The written instructions were very helpful especially for the appliances, as they are very different than what we were used to. It was nice to have the space to come back to relax to after a day of exploring. We would definitely look to stay there again in the future.

Great place in Edinburgh! It is a little ways from the main downtown but that’s a good thing since the royal mile is way too crowded, loud and crazy. There are restaurants, coffee shops and a grocery store super close. The apartment is spacious, beautiful and comfortable!

We felt at home, everything needed for a comfortable stay. Very quiet area. City buses to downtown in short walking distance: 23, 36. Washer and dryer very helpful. I would stay again when visiting Edinburgh.

Jack's apartment is modern, clean, very smart and has everything you need. Easy to find, secure entry system and has free on site parking. Nice touches like milk in the fridge and shortbread and iron bru, plus Shampoos and shower gels too. Although on main road hardly any traffic after 7pm so very quiet. Bus stops literally outside the door with regular buses straight into the centre of Edinburgh and back again well into the night if you want to enjoy the nightlife which we did. Easy to get to all the attractions in and around the city. We loved staying here and would highly recommend and was really pleased Jack was the perfect host.

The house was just as expected - beautiful peaceful location, well furnished, cozy feel. Local pub and shops within walking distance as well as several bus lines making it very convenient to get around. The Penland hills park was roughly a 20 min walk away through nice quiet neighborhoods which made for a nice day trip. Highly recommend!

Lovely flat in a perfect location. Easy access to all Edinburgh has to offer with lots of good restaurants and pubs nearby. Aria's flat was so comfortable, clean, and inviting and Aria was great at communicating. I'd highly recommend this flat and would happily stay again.

This place far exceeded our expectations!!! One of the nicest places we’ve ever stayed out. The comfort of the home is amazing and the decor is fun yet homie, yet the architecture was left to amaze and was well preserved. Felt like home right away. The location was great and was an easy walk to the Royal mile and everything else nearby. If returning to Edinburgh I’m booking here again.

Annie's flat was lovely, located on the first floor. There are lots of restaurants, cafes and pubs near by. All very nice. The flat was exactly as described and the facilities were great and we had all the cutlery required to cook meals too. Bus stops into town and the airport were right outside. We walked into the city too which was very pleasant. The neighbourhood felt very safe.

We spent two nights at The Butler's Basement for my husband's birthday and it was an ideal base. We did have an issue getting in as the lockbox didn't work, but her son came down and resolved the issue. The apartment was very clean and in a great area - some lovely bars and restaurants that we preferred to spend time in, more than the busier side of Edinburgh. Gemma was very responsive to my messages and we also had a bottle of fizz in the fridge as well as some short bread and chocolate. It might be an idea to put a small bottle of milk in the fridge, as we did have tea and coffee provided but didn't want to buy a whole pint of milk to make a couple of drinks. However it certainly wasn't an issue that would stop us staying again!

Aileen was an amazing host! The place was amazing and in a perfect location. Everything about the apartment was awesome. I would recommend staying here if it’s available. I will definitely be looking to stay here again next time I am in Edinburgh!

Great location, convenient to bus transportation. Peaceful and quiet. Sue and Grant are very responsive, even helping us to secure some additional linens after our arrival. Perfect for our family stay in Edinburgh. We’d definitely stay here again!
