Quite possibly the best place I've ever stayed at! Such a beautiful and peaceful desert! Tom and Teresa are such thoughtful hosts, such nice, sweet, genuine people! There is so much to see and do here, from exploring the Wind Caves at Catacomb Rock, fossil hunting, kayaking on the Colorado River, and so much more. Their pet tortoise, Kobae, is awesome; I even got to watch them feed a wild ringtail at night. The only caveat is that you will need a decent SUV, pickup truck, or dune buggy to traverse the jagged desert cliffs on the way to the lodge. But fortunately, Moab has places where you can rent vehicles like Jeeps and dune buggies for a few days, and it's pretty much a straight shot to the lodge, and Tom gives great, detailed directions. They have really great Wifi despite the remote area, and they also provide walkie-talkies when you go hiking in case you get lost or require rescuing. I look forward to making more trips here. Thank you so much for your kindness and hospitality!

Last Hurrah Main House

Our family’s first time to Moab with the Bronco and Base Camp did not disappoint! My son and I hiked all over the property and never saw another person. Sunsets and sunrises were picturesque and so so many stars at night. We rented the side by side and went out to chicken corners and wind caves as suggested by the host and they were fantastic. Utah is beautiful and Base Camp is right smack dab in the middle. The instructions that were provided by the host to get there were very clear, we brought our own food and had everything we needed for the few days and nights we were there. Great place to get away and enjoy nature. We did not get a chance to use the kayaks but the place is right in the river and kayaks were offered if we needed them. Fabulous rocks are all over for those rock lovers out there!

This was such an amazing find on Airbnb and Tom was such a great host! He was so welcoming, informative from the moment we booked the Airbnb to showing us to our room and friendly, and the lodge was STUNNING. The view was breathtaking, and although we didn’t have the chance to take advantage of all the amenities that Tom had to offer at the Airbnb, we do plan to come back just to explore more around the lodge itself! A huge plus was the amount of birds, squirrels and chipmunks that were around the whole weekend too, it was so beautiful!

Basecamp is one of the most amazing places I have ever stayed at on or off Airbnb. Tom, along with Theresa and Thomas, are gracious hosts. They make sure each guest feels welcomed throughout the stay and are happy to offer suggestions of hikes, drives or just general exploration. I got the feeling that the road's condition varies throughout the year. As of a few weeks ago it was slow going if you are not an experienced off-road driver. (I am not.) It took me 90 minutes heading in (once during the day and once after dark) and 60 minutes leaving (both daylight). But my stock RAV4 with all season tires made it with no real issues. I kept it in 2nd gear and the AWD never kicked on. That said, I would happily return to stay at Tom's place again. It is 100% worth a frayed nerve or two for me. Next time I'll just drive in once and stay there the whole time. I could wander around the property and the adjoining BLM land for days and never get bored of looking at the views.
The entrance to the cave features a sliding glass door framed by natural rock formations. Two reclining chairs are positioned next to a small fire pit, surrounded by potted plants and colorful flowers. A brown rock adds a natural touch to the outdoor space.

The Caves at Moab - At Private Riverside Ranch

We had a great glamping experience! Waking up to the red rocks and sitting outside with our coffee was so peaceful. Like the listing says- it is about 40 minutes or so from the town of Moab. We still did trips in for dinner and it’s a beautiful drive! The caves seem to be very sound proof as we never heard anything from our neighbors on either side. I would definitely recommend The Caves!
