  • Astronomy Tour
A tour for all ages just outside of Boulder (accessible by Taxi, Lyft & Uber). Tours start at sunset and last for 2 hours. The show will explore the night sky with several large telescopes and a laser pointer. We will see and learn about planets, constellations, navigation, satellites, nebula, clusters, galaxies, maybe some shooting stars, and our universe. Through telescopes we will get up close looks at these objects and take in their beauty with our own eyes. The tour takes place at a easy to find trailhead (no hiking required) where phenomenal sunsets and wildlife are often seen. Guests are provided with a red flashlight, comfy camp seating, bug spray, and bottled water(upon request). Guests are encouraged to bring questions, wonderment, and warm clothing (it can get cool after sunset) I can add availability on most days by request to accommodate your travel plans (the sooner the request the better, I would like to know more than 1 week in advance) Other things to note Please be aware of weather, tour is subject to cancellation if it is too cloudy to see any stars

  • Hiking in the Rockies - Year Round
Beginners to advanced, all levels are welcome. We will do a 2-4 hour hike in the Rocky Mountains within a 1 hour drive from Denver. We will meet at a coffee shop 20 mins drive west of downtown and will carpool to the trailhead. We'll go hiking in the mountains, connect with nature, soak in the sunshine, see jaw dropping mountain views, maybe see some wildlife, take snack and water breaks, learn about the wildflowers and trees, make new friends, get some exercise and breathe in the fresh mountain air! We will take as many photos as you'd like and send them to you at the end of the hike. Our hope is that you'll feel healthier and happier after spending time hiking with us and connecting with the beauty of Colorado. There will be an optional group lunch at a unique cafe after the hike or you can buy lunch at the coffee shop and eat at a picturesque spot on the trail. The hike will be easy to moderate for people in good physical shape, but it can be challenging for people who do not exercise regularly. The hike's elevation will be somewhere between 6,000 and 12,000 ft. A car is not required for this experience, but guests who provide their own transportation and help drive others are eligible for a $10 refund. Private and corporate groups are welcome, we can cater the experience to your preferences. Check out photos on Instagram at @hikingintherockies

  • Downtown Denver Highlights Tour
Your tour begins at the Colorado State Capitol, the perfect place to start off a tour highlighting the best of Denver. You may get a chance to step inside to take in the awe-inspiring architectural features of this historic building and learn more about the founding of the Queen City of the Plains. We’ll then head downtown to the historic Brown Palace Hotel, marveling at the grand atrium, where taking high tea is still in fashion, as you pass through. You’ll also get the scoop on Denver’s more salacious connections to illicit gambling, speakeasies, and the seedy underbelly that once defined the city’s image. Next, we’ll see the more modern side of Denver, entering LoDo (Lower Downtown). Get your architecture fix as you pass through the popular 16th Street Mall, a picturesque tree-lined avenue that’s home to street food, art, and local musicians. Your guide will help you avoid the tourist traps and find the local hidden gems of Denver’s downtown food, shopping, and nightlife scene. Continue on towards one of the most photogenic Denver landmarks: Larimer Square, where you’ll hear about the founding of the city. Cap off your downtown Denver experience at the hub of historic LoDo, Union Station, restored to its former glory and still the main train station in town. • Denver Art Tour with Non-Profit Donation
Your tour of Denver’s art scene in the hip and happening River North (RiNo) Arts District begins at Denver’s Central Market. This hub of the city’s Art District offers everything from creative ice cream flavors (dare to try the whiskey and pistachio combo?) to a variety of locally-sourced and fair trade products. Your guide will fill you in on the fascinating history of the Market and why it’s the perfect kick-off to your art experience. From there, you’ll make your way through the mural-covered streets of RiNo. Having recently seen a boom of revitalization, this part of Denver is now a canvas for creative souls of all types. As you walk, you’ll be struck by the incredible colors, scale, and variety of the art. Your guide will highlight styles ranging from graffiti to massive murals to brain-bending 3D installations. You’ll get to know the stories behind the art, including environmental activism, social causes, music, and inspirational figures. You may get the chance to enter one of RiNo’s dynamic art studio spaces. Your tour ticket includes a donation to an organization directly supporting local Denver artists. • Experience LoDo with a local
What's LoDo? I’m happy you asked! Lower Downtown or as we call it - LoDo is Denver’s oldest neighborhood which is home to some of the best restaurants and attractions in Denver. This experience is perfect for first time visitors and is great to schedule the first day you're in town. You'll learn all the hot spots, where to go, and gain local insight on the best way to experience the city. At the end of the tour you will feel more like a local and less like a tourist! We'll meet at the Union Station flagpole and begin by discussing the iconic Union Station and its significance to the survival of Denver as a city. Over the next hour and a half (+ or - 15 minutes depending on group size or pace) we walk a 1.5 mile loop around LoDo where I'll share stories of Hop Alley (Denver’s first Chinatown), visit Mattie Silks House of Mirrors (the most famous bordello of its time), visit the oldest operating hotel in Denver, and learn about the underground tunnel system that runs beneath the city. We end the tour back at Union Station aka the living room of Denver. Other things to note Rain, snow, or shine our tours take place everyday of the week. Good thing Denver experiences over 300 days of sunshine. Just be sure to check the weather and dress appropriately. In cases of extreme weather we will contact you

Tips from Denver locals

Get advice about the city from the people who know it best. Local hosts share their tips and recommendations for travelers like you.

What should I pack?

Layers! Welcome to colorado, where we can have 40+ degree shifts throughout the day and we can go from sun, to rain, to sun, to lightening, to snow....all in the same day! bring layers that you can easily put on and take off throughout the day.

Steven And Rose

Bring sunglasses and a water bottle The sun is bright and the altitude will get you (especially in the mountains), so drink lots of water.

Bring lots of layers! The weather in denver can change quickly and gets cool in the evening.

What's the best way to get around?

If you are here for skiing, check for traffic info If skiing on a weekend, in general, leave before 7am to avoid the worst traffic on i-70, and leave the resort before 2 or after 5 (get dinner). weekdays are much better. make sure to have or rent a car with 4 wheel drive or at least good snow tires!

MaleeLives in Denver

Local transit The local lightrail station is at 10th and osage. very convenient for getting around the region. there is also a b-cycle station right outside the building. i use it all the time, but pay attention to rates. can get expensive

What should I not miss?

Altitudes effect on alcohol There are lower oxygen levels at higher altitudes, which can impair the ability to metabolize alcohol, leading to quicker absorption and enhanced intoxication (in layman's terms, you may get drunk faster and have worse hangovers). drink lots of water!

Steven And Rose
Steven And RoseLives in Denver

Drink lots of water! You are in the high desert and at high elevation. drink lots of water (more than you normally would closer to sea level). if you start getting headaches, nausea, or dizziness, it could be due to the altitude.....take a break, sit down, and drink lots of water.

Steven And Rose

What are some local customs?

Drink extra water to avoid altitude sickness Being a mile above sea level means that you need to drink extra water to stay hydrated and feeling well!

Your guide to Denver

All About Denver

A city whose skyscrapers are dwarfed by the surrounding Rocky Mountains, Denver is an ideal getaway for visitors who don’t want to choose between wilderness and city. Denver’s past as an Old West boomtown is still present, especially in such historic neighborhoods as Larimer Square, alongside the free-wheeling spirit of a vibrant art scene and new tech energy. Denver makes it easy for you to take a morning hike in the mountains before an afternoon of shopping in the Cherry Creek neighborhood, or to follow a tour of the Denver Art Museum with samplers at a nearby craft brewery. There are plenty of bike trails and parks such as Sloan’s Lake to explore within the city limits, as well as outdoor shops that can supply you with skis or snowboards for an excursion to Colorado Ski Country.

How do I get around Denver?

You won’t have trouble finding flights to Denver, since Denver International Airport (DEN) is a major hub for the Western states. To get into town, pick up a car rental at the airport, hail a taxi, or take the Airport Rail to Union Station downtown. Amtrak’s California Zephyr line, which runs from the San Francisco Bay Area to Chicago, also stops at Union Station, as do many Greyhound bus routes.

Once you’re in town, the Regional Transportation District’s buses and light-rail trains travel to many corners of the city, and rideshares and bikeshares are plentiful.

When is the best time to stay in a vacation rental in Denver?

One of the sunniest major cities in the United States, Denver sees only around 80 days of precipitation a year. Spring and fall are cool but comfortable, and temperatures regularly rise into the 80s and 90s Fahrenheit in July and August.

Nighttime temperatures dip below the freezing point starting in November, but during the day, the city’s winter is relatively mild, averaging in the 40s and 50s. Denver sees a lot of snow during those months, but it doesn’t necessarily stick around — you have to go higher into the mountains for snow sports. No matter what season you visit, when you’re outdoors slather on sunscreen and wear sunglasses.

What are the top things to do in Denver?

City Park

Families with school-age children can easily spend an entire day in this 330-acre park, which offers wide expanses for picnics and running. And kids can explore the wonders of the Earth as well as outer space at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.

River North Art District

Once a swath of crumbling warehouses, RiNo has become the most colorful neighborhood in Denver — literally. You can spend hours wandering outside admiring the multistory murals, or popping into art galleries and boutiques. The art scene here has attracted cafes, food halls, restaurants, and bars, which keep the neighborhood lively well into the night.

Rocky Mountain National Park

Just 90 minutes from downtown Denver is one of the country’s most spectacular wilderness areas. More than 300 miles of trails wind through, and up, the mountains and around the shores of more than a hundred lakes. In the summer, you can stay in your car to drive along Trail Ridge Road, high above the treeline, or hike up to the alpine meadows where elk graze. (Keep in mind: The park charges a per-vehicle entrance fee.)
