Vacation rentals with a fireplace in Charente

This is a beautiful place to stay on the banks of the Charente which we enjoyed from the canoe but just loved seeing it flowing along edging the grounds. We came on the train which is a very easy journey from Paris to Jarnac. It is then less than an hours walk along the cycle path or quicker along the very quiet road. The market in Jarnac is excellent and there’s some nice cafes and bars. In Bourg Charente itself the bar tabac sells morning baguette and croissants, especially good to put an order in the day before. Also in the village La Ribaudiere restaurant was absolutely amazing and an experience not to be missed. So this is a great place to stay if you are car free like us but bicycles really help too especially with direct access to the 400 km path La Flow Velo. Lots of fun! Thanks to Andrea and Dominic.

Séjourner au Moulin de Bord, c’est comme remonter le fil du temps, là où l’eau chantait autrefois sous les meules en pierre. Niché dans un écrin de verdure, ce vieux moulin chargé d’histoire offre aujourd’hui une parenthèse enchantée, loin du tumulte du monde. Le murmure du Bandiat berce les jours et les nuits, et chaque pierre semble raconter les souvenirs d’un passé paisible. Le cadre est d’une beauté rare, authentique et ressourçante. Le calme y est profond, presque sacré. On y respire la nature, on y trouve la paix. Quant à Sabrina, l’hôte, elle incarne la générosité et la douceur. Son accueil chaleureux et attentionné donne à ce lieu déjà magique une âme encore plus lumineuse.

WE de mariage au Château de Brie (si vous faites du tourisme dans la région , ce beau domaine se visite) nous avons apprécié nos quelques heures de repos dans la très paisible petite maison de Jeannette. Nous n'avons pas pû nous rencontrer mais nous avons eu de très bons échanges avec Jeannette pour préparer notre arrivée.

Great place with a lot of interesting features like the lighting. Very nice bathrooms and showers with plenty of towels. Very clean and comfortable place. The drier does not function very well, but overall great place to stay.

We hebben een heerlijk verblijf gehad in dit authentieke Franse huis op het platteland! In alle rust, midden in de natuur. Vrijwel geen menselijke geluiden te horen, zó heerlijk. Een fijn zwembad tot onze beschikking om af te koelen. Tuin is volledig omheind, dus onze hond kon veilig los. Extra (klap)bedden zijn niet geschikt voor volwassenen ;-) Het plaatsje Civray heeft meerder grote supermarkten, waarvan wij de Super- U het fijnste vonden. Het plaatsje Condac (kanoën/sup/zwem gebied), Nateuile-en-Vallée (leuk parkje Jardin de I’Argentor én sfeervol koffietentje Lolly’s), Ruffec (idyllisch dorpje) vonden wij erg leuk; allen in de buurt! O en het gerestaureerde beekje Fontaine et Lavoir de Cornac is ook leuk om even te gaan bekijken (Saint- Gaudent). Ze hebben daar de stroming terug gebracht om te zorgen dat biodiversiteit (insecten, waterplanten en vissen) weer wordt bevorderd. Vergeet niet om ook aan de andere kant van de weg te gaan kijken! :-)

Nous avons passé trois jours et deux nuits dans le magnifique studio d’Anne-Marie et Paul, et nous comptons bien y revenir dès que possible. Un véritable petit cocon, très bien équipé et idéalement situé dans un environnement calme et idyllique. Et quelle vue depuis la terrasse ! Nous avons profité de belles balades tout autour du village, et notre chien Marcus était aux anges. Que dire de l’accueil chaleureux et de la gentillesse d’Anne-Marie et Paul ? Nous nous sommes tout simplement sentis en famille. Anne-Marie a même pris le temps de partir en promenade avec nous, accompagnée de son adorable chien Jojo, pour nous faire découvrir les alentours. Mention spéciale pour les petites attentions qui font toute la différence : des œufs frais des poules de la maison, des bières bien fraîches et de délicieuses cerises nous attendaient à notre arrivée. Bref, allez-y les yeux fermés : ce n’est vraiment pas un Airbnb comme les autres.

We really liked Thomas’ place. The pool is much better than the photos look and the pool was very clean. A great little seating area under a canopy and plenty of sun loungers. Rarely used by anyone else! Good location for road cycling (road cyclists from UK will find the roads undulating and open). Really nice peaceful setting. Really quiet. WiFi good enough to do video calls to work from the house.

Logement très calme et agréable. Beaucoup de place et bien aménagé. j'ai passé un long séjour et j'ai apprécié cet endroit tout du long. Florence est très gentille et a l'écoute. Je recommande fortement.

Absolutely loved staying here! Anthony is friendly and welcoming, check in was easy and the place had everything we needed. Such a lovely location within walking distance to everything. Just bring your muscles if you bring lots of luggage - there’s a stunning wooden spiral staircase to keep you fit! Thank you SO much Anthony!

Hôte réactif lors de notre arrivée et instructions claires . Le logement est fidèle au photos et très agréables. Je le conseille vivement pour un week-end et plus.

Een prachtige plek, in een historisch chateau. Bij aankomst wordt je hartelijk ontvangen en rondgeleid. Er is volop rust, een zwembad en sportfaciliteiten op het terrein. Het dorp heeft een winkel, een bakker en een bar met eten en soms live muziek. Het huis heeft een fijne mix van Franse klasse en Engelse gezelligheid, en er zijn fijne buren. Wij hebben met ons gezin een heerlijke week gehad!

Had a wonderful stay, Nick and his wife are great hosts, with a wonderful 15th century building in which we stayed. Easy to walk into confolens, from apartment We hired a car, in which we was able to explore all surrounding areas, also supermarkets within 3 mins drive Great out door space, with seating area, plus garden to explore with chickens Thanks for a pleasant stay and your information on the area Would definitely book again 🙂

Lovely stay with a spacious apartment. Nice and quiet even when you are less than 1km from busy areas. The host was very helpful and friendly and gave us information about different areas around France as we were travelling around for a week. Nice comfortable, clean bed.

This is a very well equipped villa. The location surrounding was a concern but we slept in late every morning so noise was not an issue. Very secure and not overlooked.

The setting is beautiful, surrounded by vineyards and sunflowers. The local town is 10 mins away, with a market. The property is a lovely old farmhouse, with lots of space and nice furniture, comfortable beds and a refreshing pool. Valerie made us feel very welcomed. A great place to unwind.

Séjour en tous points conformes aux prévisions. La maison est confortable et était adaptée à notre groupe composé de six couples d'amis. Deux cuisines à disposition ce qui était une excellente chose pour le nombre que nous étions. Piscine chauffée. Calme et sans vis à vis

Beautiful location, wonderful accommodations

Excellent séjour entre amis dans cette maison au calme avec de beaux espaces, une jolie tranquillité et la piscine agréable en ce beau weekend. Nous avons passé un bon séjour ! Le seul bémol sera le manque d'un 3ème WC - ce qui pour 12 personnes s'avère utile (mais nous étions prévenu avant notre arrivée, et nous savons que c'était exceptionnel).

Nous avons passé un weekend d'anniversaire fantastique avec nos amis chez Guillaume. Le lieu est paisible et isolé, la maison est magnifique et spacieuse et la piscine a eu un gros succès. Guillaume est très prévenant et nous as bien tout expliqué pour profiter pleinement du séjour !
