A beachfront studio unit sleeping 5 on the same large rural beachfront property as Penguins Retreat and Whitebait Cottage. The sleeping area of the large unit is divided into two so that the queen bed and the second area with another queen bed and single bed have visual privacy but the wall does not go to the ceiling We do not live on the property so this place suits independent travellers who have a car, wanting to spend time on a west coast beach. Only 3 minutes drive to Hokitika township.

I would highly recommend staying with Cam & Dee. They were very accommodating, nice people who went over and above to make sure we had everything we needed during our stay. The place itself is great - clean, comfortable with gorgeous views of the river and surrounding mountains. The sunrises viewable from the main bedroom of the house were particularly awesome. The location is very convenient, perhaps a 2 minute or less walk to the main street of Murchison, but also quiet and peaceful. More generally, we found Murchison to be an optimal base to explore the surrounding rivers and mountains of the region. It would also be a great place to stay for a stopover. The property was as described and communication from the hosts was excellent. Looking forward to staying here again when we're back in Murchison.

This spot was outside my normal comfort zone and I absolutely LOVED it. I did not want to leave. It was a very tranquil spot with the beach nearby and close to the big attraction Pancake rocks. It was clean, functional, every thing was thought of to ensure a comfortable stay! Loved it here would go back in a heartbeat!

If you like getting away from it all and staying in a cosy, peaceful cottage, then this is the place for you. It was absolutely silent while we were there, with incredible night skies. Hugh is very friendly and communicative. The house is gorgeous, with an easy to use wood burner, the comfiest bed and an incredible shower. The kitchen has everything you need to cook, including a hot plate and air fryer. Even though it was minus temps outside the cottage was well insulated and cosy. Highly recommend!
