Cottage vacation rentals in Polk County

We had a great stay at the cabin. Our family of four (two kids under 10) went for a few days during Spring Break. Obviously the area has endured a difficult year and is in varying states of repair. That said, we felt welcomed by everyone we interacted with and its clear they want visitors to come back. We were sad that Chimney Rock and many of the nearby hikes were closed but understand why (and found some lesser known ones that were great). Lake repairs are in full swing so I can only imagine things will be back to normal soon! Even with all of that, our stay at the cabin was great. We spent the crisp mornings on the porch drinking coffee, or in front of the gas fireplace. Used the well appointed kitchen on meals. Used the TVs for family movie nights and the island for breakfasts. The place was perfectly clean, well decorated, and we LOVED the hot tub (and used it daily). It was the perfect getaway that allowed us to experience Asheville while staying in peaceful Lake Lure.

The Loverly is truly lovely—you’ll feel at home! With a fireplace, a chaise lounge, a hot tub, and more, it’s the perfect retreat. Plan a shopping day in Hendersonville. The local consignment shop, which supports hospice care, offers great prices. For a meal, check out Shine—known for unique dishes and excellent service. In Fairview, The Local Joint is a must-visit. This old-fashioned diner, owned by a single mom, serves hearty meals that last all day. Their eggs Benedict, with fresh spinach, avocado, and homemade skillet potatoes, is a standout. Watching “CoCo” cook—his energy is unmatched—is an experience! Get there early; we went twice, and it was packed. Consider contributing to The Local Joint’s “pay it forward” option. A $10 donation covers a meal for someone in need. This region of North Carolina was severely impacted by Hurricane Helene. The destruction is heartbreaking, but the community is rebuilding. Many businesses and walking trails remain closed, so keep that in mind.

Caleb's place is absolutely stunning! The amenities are draw you in but the interior of the home is just as welcoming. Every room is cozy and the home is well-appointed. Communication was easy and timely. There were no shortage of recommendations and the location was perfect.

My boyfriend and I loved staying at this cottage! We took a couples trip to visit Asheville and support the community after the hurricane, and we loved every minute of it! The place was beautiful and private and we felt right at home! The hot tub was definitely a favorite for us!!!! We would absolutely stay again!

We enjoyed our time in Hendersonville and this sweet cozy home made that possible! The home interior was very cute and comfortable. The hosts did a wonderful job with all the little details and thoughtful touches such as dog blankets and a welcome basket. I’ve never went on a trip and not had to contact a host with a question or two but these hosts made everything so easy! Not to mention the house was spotless. Would happily stay here again!

We’ve stayed at a couple of Airbnbs in Asheville and this one was our favorite! The layout of the house was perfect and we loved all of the outdoor spaces. The expansive back porch, huge yard for soccer, and corner hot tub were favorites for the whole family. The beds were so comfortable that we had a hard time getting out of them in the morning. Our bulldog loved the yard, fenced back porch, and wooded area. Jon was so communicative and had wonderful restaurant recommendations. We hope to come back soon for another stay!

We loved our stay at the cottage! Very comfortable, clean, and peaceful. We had plenty of towels, blankets, pillows, etc. the hot tub was easy to use. The shower had great water pressure and a nice size tub. The fireplace was really great in the living room. Overall a great stay! I wish there was a way to know a little about the history of the home.

We enjoyed our stay with our 2 dogs! The cottage was very comfortable and had a well-equipped kitchen with everything we needed.. including coffee and tea! The beds were comfortable and the open living room was perfect. We loved the seating on the deck, and the fenced-in backyard overlooking a creek was perfect for our dogs. Location was great with a short drive into Asheville. Our dogs especially loved the visits from the cows next door!! Hope to return soon!!

Great house, love the horsey decor for our stay while we showed at TIEC. Everything was very clean and our group of 4 was very comfortable. The only negative was the lack of water pressure. Otherwise, it was the perfect house for our 5 day horse show stay!

The cabin was lovely, host quickly responded. We drove in at night and would advise looking over directions very carefully as the road are challenging at night and GPS wants to send you farther up W Fork Creek than is needed.

We stayed at Michael and Sabrina’s place during our destination wedding at Point Lookout Vineyards. We had the wedding of our dreams and the stay was a breeze and super close to our venue.

The owner was very communicative throughout our month-long stay. The property was exactly as described. We found it very comfortable and quiet. Main Street shopping and restaurants are a short walk away. There are lots of outdoor activities nearby.

We came to celebrate our anniversary and stayed a month. When our plans changed and we needed to come earlier, Gail did what she could to get cleaners in earlier and accommodate us. Above and beyond wonderful host. My husband and I took regular hikes around the 5 mile loop around the lake. Great workout. Kayaking was so peaceful. We loved the huge picture window and screened in porch. Gail was one of the best hosts with friendliness and responsiveness. Thanks for the retreat!

A beautiful and peaceful place to stay, located near lots of great hiking spots. The mountain view and running stream provided a peaceful atmosphere. The short drive to two towns where there is dining, coffee and groceries, made our stay more flexible and pleasant. The hot tub and starry views were amazing.

Place was exactly how it’s mentioned. Did have one unexpected encounter but David was really quick with letting us know what was going on! We’d definitely stay again and also recommend to others!

The cottage is charming and simple in style. It was extremely clean. All the check-in info was clear. The description and amenities were exactly as described. Everything we needed for our stay was available. It was a little close to the road, but there was so little traffic and the area was so quiet that it was not an issue at all. The town was quaint in the best way, and the restaurant suggestions were on point. All Good Things Bakery is a must (especially if you are gluten free). We can’t wait to stay again when it gets a little warmer.

We have stayed here before, we always feel at home. Roger and his wife are very responsive. we look forward to staying here again soon.

This Clean cottage was the perfect place to stay while showing at TIEC . Just a short drive and everything was perfect.

Catherine was such a warm and welcoming host and we absolutely loved staying at her place! It was so comfortable and beautifully decorated! She had lots of really nice welcoming touches such as K cups ready there for us and we had absolutely everything we needed! We will definitely stay there again!

We stayed here while my son had an event at the Tryon International Equestrian Center. It was easy to find following the hosts instructions (if we had followed google once off the main rd we would not have gotten there). The place is comfortable and roomy enough for everyone to rest.

10/10 would recommend. This quaint cottage is even better in real life. Visited for our 2 year wedding anniversary and we were able to unplug, relax and enjoy one another’s company just as we had hoped. The cottage itself was beyond clean, looked as if we were the very first guests…. Ever! We were welcomed with freshly baked cookies and even better, the onsite Dexter property cows. We were lucky enough to meet Randy and some of his family while we were there, which made the visit even more special! This oasis is private, calm, quiet and exactly where you should stay if you’re ever in the area! We will definitely be coming back for a visit! Thank you for a very memorable stay ☺️
