Bed and breakfast vacation rentals in Otago

Waiorau Homestead was absolutely stunning and exceeded our expectations. Our hostess Ann was extremely attentive and made sure we had every thing on hand to ensure a relaxing and peaceful stay. The most comfortable bed and luxurious down comforters and pillows were 5 star quality. Our room was thoughtfully decorated and felt like we were in a Parisian Hotel. A lovely buffet breakfast greeted us each morning which comprised of seasonal fruits, cereals , eggs on toast and croissants followed by freshly brewed coffee. Thank you so much for having us & making our stay perfect.

We stayed at Paul’s place for two nights and it was a home away from home. Paul was very friendly and welcoming and let us use the mountain bikes to go around the lakeside and town centre. The room was clean and well equipped. I would highly recommend!!

We stayed at Shirley's place for a night for our little blue penguins trip at Timaru. The place is absolutely lovely, and our room is located on the ground floor where we have a living room and a large balcony of our own. We really appreciated Shirley's hospitality and her serving us a nice New Zealand breakfast in the dining room on the first floor (where the host stays). We couldn't feel more at home and peaceful at Shirley's place, 5 stars!

Absolutely lovely accommodations. Everything was clean and comfortable. I was able to do a load of washing, which was greatly appreciated. Gary was great to talk to and made me feel right at home. Highly recommend.

We had the most wonderful time at Sally’s and Keri’s place. It is located in beautiful surroundings, lots of nature and places to visit the sea and take a walk. The hot tub should win an award for “most beautiful view from a hot tub”. With unmatched hospitality, great breakfast and the friendliest dog we can not recommend this place enough. Thank you so much for having us!

Very nice stay and such a humble full host. Room was clear and tidy. Also, the place is near by Queenstown recommended all the person who didn’t stay in Queenstown because of it’s so expensive. this is the right place for leave and explore Queenstown.

A beautiful and historic manor! As an experience of living in a manor, I recommend staying here, but don't expect too much from the facilities. Due to its long history and other reasons, the furniture and facilities have inevitably become old. The water pressure on the second floor is unstable, and there is an unpleasant smell in the house. Rob seemed tired. He briefly introduced the house and then was busy with other things, so we didn't have much conversation. However, we were allowed to walk around and visit, and use the kitchen freely! Still, thank you very much, Rob. I hope everything goes well for him!

The view from the room was absolutely breathtaking – I’ll never forget falling asleep under the sparkling Milky Way at night. The house’s location was great , with the bus stop just a short walk away, making it so easy to explore the area. The bed was incredibly comfortable (I slept better here than at home!), and I truly appreciated how safe and peaceful the entire stay felt. Peggy ’ve created such a special retreat, and I’m already dreaming of returning someday.

Great southern hospitality, definitely recommend

It was a unique and memorable opportunity to stay at the Middlemarch property where my mother, Natalie, had lived from 1927 to 1944. I had spent many holidays there and so it was a most fulfilling experience to introduce my grownup children and two young grandchildren to the ancestral home and heritage. We also scattered my 97yo mother’s ashes on the Rock & Pillar Range behind Strathmore. Liz was very hospitable and showed us through the main house where she lives. She also provided delicious homemade yogurt with apricots, raspberry and blackcurrant jams and locally sourced honey for breakfast & snacks. We met several lovely neighbours and local personalities during our 3 day stay. We enjoyed eating at the local Kissing Gate cafe and the Strath Taieri Hotel. The landscape was magnificent and we really enjoyed all aspects of our stay.

Sue and John are warm, welcoming, friendly, bright people. Location, accommodations and setting are top drawer, with great attention to creature comforts. Being able to do laundry a bonus. Breakfast tasty and conversation interesting and open. Kiwi hospitality at its finest!

As anticipated and expected from the photos, Quaint and funky, wonderful place at the end of the road. Margaret was friendly and helpful, she felt like a friend immediately on meeting her. A delightful few days away

We really enjoyed our stay with Lynley and Glyn. The accommodation was homely, the bed was big and comfy, the hosts very welcoming and extremely interesting and the house is in a beautiful part of the country. And yes, I have changed the way I cook my eggs :) Thanks Lynley.

We spent 3 nights at Colin and Colleen's place. Their home overlooks beautiful mountains, close to town and absolutely peaceful. Large private room. Hands-down this was the best AirBnB experience I’ve ever had - and I’ve travelled extensively. AirBnB should do a case study on Fred and Samantha, and the service offering they provide to share a template for what best practise looks like. Great hosts, lovely room, amazing cooked breakfast each morning - prepared with local produce and a scenic location. Could not have asked for more. A fabulous stay!!

We had a great stays with Joan and Kevin, wonderful hospitality feel like home straightaway :) The house is modern and squeaky clean. Also, beautifully surroundings with the nature, wildlife and lake. We will definitely stay again next time :)

Such a lovely place to stay! The room was warm and inviting—just what we needed during the holidays. Our host went above and beyond by making us fresh coffee every morning, which was such a thoughtful and appreciated touch. Everything was clean and super comfortable. We felt really well looked after and would absolutely stay here again. Highly recommend!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Kristy's AirBnB. The accommodation was perfect—exactly as pictured—and incredibly comfortable. Parking was a breeze, and Kristy was a fantastic host. We truly enjoyed our experience and will definitely be returning in the future.
