Bed and breakfast vacation rentals in Mid Sussex District

From the moment I stepped into the house and met the host Jane, everything felt warm and welcoming. Jane is an incredibly nice and kind person. She proactively ask if I needed any help and kindly introduced places to visit nearby. She even invited me to attend her friend’s birthday dinner. Every morning, she thoughtfully prepared a healthy breakfast, including fruit salad, toast, coffee and more. Location: It was very easy to find the house by following the map from the train station. The room is located in a small alley just off the main street in the heart of Lewes, surrounded by lots of great restaurants and cafés. The weekend farmer’s market is just a one-minute walk away. I saw someone asking whether the house is warm enough — don’t worry. It can be chilly in Lewes during spring, but Jane keeps the heating on all the time. If you still feel cold, there's also a portable heater available. I didn’t need to use it, because it was already warm enough. I really loved staying here.

Carol and Clive were very welcoming and nothing was any trouble. The cottage is querky and full of character with a lovely back garden next to the river and with beautiful views of the countryside. Check in was flexible and easy to arrange. It is a lovely village and Carol's place is central and walkable to local pubs. I had a lovely time and would return to explore the area more.

John & Mandy were great host. They kept our rooms ready with fresh towels and napkins. The space is filled with personal pictures and has a great character of its own. John was kind to make us proper English breakfast and made us feel really comfortable and special throughout our stay.

There is a gate to get on the property and we were unable to call Miranda when at the gate due to poor reception. I imagine this was because we are from the US and ATT is our carrier and I suppose England does not have a lot of ATT towers for cellular. We were unable to make phone contact at the gate and drove about 5 or so minutes into town to get good phone coverage and drove back. The house was clean and in a pleasant area. Miranda was most helpful.

Chris is an amazing host. We have been several times at his cottage and he has become a friend. Chris is so engaging, very attentive and a fab host. His house is a real gem in Sussex.

Our second fabulous stay in this extraordinary B&B in the countryside. Very tastefully decorated in a rustic eclectic style. L&R are the most welcoming and warmhearted hosts. An exceptional experience.

Andrew is a super experienced host and he makes everything he can to let you feel at home. He's keen of his home and the surrounding area, which is pristine and enjoyable. Have had a pleasant staying.

Jill was a fantastic host, so friendly and easy to communicate with. The room was super cosy and spotless and the house was lovely and full of charm. We didn’t manage to explore the immediate surroundings but it was very beautiful on our way to Brighton. Thanks Again Ben

Was a great stay and great location to gatwick. Richard and his wife was so welcoming, room is lovely, very clean. House is amazing with log fire and all the old beams. The views are amazing, would never know so close to gatwick. Had a lovely meal in the pub, which was 5 minute walk. poppadoms and dips were best ive ever had. Richard was very kind to take us to airport and pick us up for very small fee. Let us leave our car for again a small fee. Will def be back and highely recommend people to stay. Our 1st time using airbnb and wont be our last.

Lovely place to stay. Very handy for train station. Lovely breakfast and little additions of fruit and biscuits in the room was appreciated.

Thank you Bev for such a pleasant stay. We had a wedding at Southlands barn which was only a 6 min drive away from the b&b, perfect location! The room was clean, spacious and Bev really had thought of everything you might need being available in there. I was particularly grateful for the coffee machine and makeup wipes 😍 The breakfast was healthy and again, just what was needed. Thanks for being such a welcoming and thoughtful host!! Sonja was a delight. Attending the Stag theatre in Sevenoaks we needed somewhere close with breakfast. Sonja was charming , funny and very welcoming. The house was spotless and the bed very comfortable. A nice quiet area made for a good nights sleep. Breakfast was perfect and we would definitely return Kiitos Sonja

I had a lovely stay with Mary&Paul. They both made me feel very welcome, they are both very kind&lovely people. My room was lovely clean and cosy, I slept 😴 very well. The breakfast in the morning was delicious 😋 the homemade muesli was really nice and my dippy eggs and toast was made perfectly by Paul, all washed down with a pot of tea. I am already planning my next stay. A big Thank you for everything. 😊

Absolutely loved my stay in the shepherds hut, beautiful scenery of the land. Was very nice and clean. Hot tub was a nice addition to are stay as was the swing in the forest. I would definitely be coming back to sue as she was such a friendly host. And she gave us some nice recommendations of places to go and visit. And lovely homemade breakfasts brought to us every morning. Can’t wait to come back.

Mark was a wonderful host. Very friendly and made us feel right at home straight away. Mark had a great knowledge of the area and we enjoyed great conversations over breakfast. The house is lovely and as described, thoroughly recommend Mark as a host.

Sarah is the perfect hostess, friendly, funny, always helpful with great tips for things to do in the area. We immediately felt so warmly welcome in her cute house, the rooms were cosy and the beds comfortable. She prepared an excellent breakfast with a view into the wonderful garden. Perfect place to stay for the Brighton Marathon. The accommodation was very clean, spacious, comfortable and peaceful. Easy access into Brighton, host very helpful.

I stayed here for one night and was absolutely blown away by how stunning the place was! It was spotless, beautifully kept, and had everything I could possibly need—way better than any hotel I've stayed at, and at a fantastic price too. Communication with the host was excellent—super clear, responsive, and friendly. I couldn't recommend this place more. I’d definitely stay again!

A great, peaceful place to stay at, situated by the river with beautiful surroundings and sounds of nature at your window. Kristina is a friendly person and hospitable. Her house is very welcoming.

Izabela was extremely quick at responding and especially with a last minute request. The place looked like it brand new when we walked in. There was a book with all the info needed and it was perfect for what I wanted.

Trish has been a great host, the house was spotless and she has provided so many little extra's that you just do not normally get. I will defiantly look to stay again when back working in the area.

I used Linda’s place as a place to stay the night before the Brighton Marathon. It was the perfect distance to Brighton and a very easy drive with lots of different routes. The parking spot provided was very safe and we felt very welcome by Linda and her husband and their dog Monti. If you’re visiting Brighton or the surrounding areas it’s perfect.

A lovely, characterful home and an ideal base from which to explore Hartfield and Winnie-the-Pooh country. The bedroom was large and clean, with a huge and very comfortable bed. Val was a friendly and welcoming host. We would thoroughly recommend this place and we would be very happy to stay there again.

As we drove through the double wooden gates, we were in awe by the grandeur of this delightful thatched home with its welcoming Xmas decorations outside and carefully selected decor in every nook. A delicious spread of food awaited us each morning, and we were privy to Chris’s famous orange marmalade. What surprised me was the attention to detail including olives/feta knowing my heritage. A true festive treat was having Xmas crackers on our last morning. Michele’s attention to detail was impeccable. She is such a gem. 💎 However all that aside, what will make our stay forever memorable was our lovely hosts Michele and Chris. We truly loved our conversations each morning. They both created such a lovely, welcoming atmosphere. We came in as guests but we have left as friends. We truly hope we come back again. If Airbnb gave awards to the best hosts, Michele and Chris would win hands down. 🏆
