Charming 2 Bedroom Escape, 7 blocks to lake

TomRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Colleen's place was perfect for our weekend trip up north. The home was clean, welcoming, and we felt right at home. A very short walk to downtown, restaurants, breweries, coffee, the lakefront, it had everything we needed and more. Colleen went out of her way to give us recommendations on things to do as well. It was a very short 5 minute drive to several lakefront hikes, and only 40 minutes to Munising and the entrance to the Pictured Rocks lakeshore. Colleen also left out some special toys for our dog so she felt right at home and had a great time of her own. Highly recommend and we will be staying here again for sure on future visits.

Great location! Travis communicated very well. The 2nd level space was large and comfortable, the only disappointment was that it wasn't clear was that the bathroom was on the first floor. We have no problem with the stairs, except it is very inconvenient for bathroom trips during the night. Quiet neighborhood and close to everything!

Charming & Bright 3 bedroom home on east side

FedericoRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Cara is a fantastic host. My daughter visited Marquette with her service dog for their birthday to enjoy the natural beauty of the Michigan’s upper peninsula. Cara was gracious allowing her to check a little earlier if needed. Her place is pristine, clean, comfortable and within walking distance of all places downtown Marquette yet providing privacy. She was super fast at responding, kind and helpful when my daughter needed an extra night. From her place you can drive to all of the UPs highlights and come back to comfort, feeling at home. Would recommend Cara and her space without a qualm.

Upfront House -Walking Distance to everything!

GinnieRating, 5 stars3 months ago
The house was great for our family, two adults and 3 teens, for a long weekend. It was helpful to have the extra space on the back porch to store our skis and would be great if we come back with our bikes in the future. The location was walkable to shops, restaurants and a short drive to NMU campus and downtown. We appreciated the local coffee and Trenary Toast provided. We also greatly appreciate the time and care that was taken to clear the driveway of snow from a blizzard that passed through before our arrival!

Great location! Loved the recommendations and the only place I’ve stayed where I didn’t need to do anything before check out :) The beds were comfy and plentiful and the house was super kid friendly, even a toy box that my boys loved playing with. Super close to town and Marquette Mountain Resort as well as all the other fun hikes and activities.

This is the fourth time we've stayed at Dennis's, and it never disappoints. It's always extremely clean and well stocked. Dennis is a kind, helpful, and conscientious host. The peaceful atmosphere and walkable neighborhood are lovely, but you're still only a few minutes drive from anything you could possibly need. We love it there and will return soon! Thank you, Dennis!

River Front Log Cabin

AprilRating, 5 stars9 months ago
This place was amazing! My three boys, husband, and dog had such a great peaceful time. There were plenty of things to do in the cabin alone! They have everything fully stocked, including tons of family games, VHS movies to take you back in time, and much more. We loved how peaceful everything was! My kids loved hunting for crawfish, swimming, and riding in the kayaks. It rained almost the entire time until the last night, but honestly, that made it even better and more peaceful. The host was very responsive when we had a little issue with our pup and was extremely helpful and I appreciated that so much. The only thing I would prepare people for is that of course being that secluded/ far out is it well water, which does have a “scent” to it. Other than that everything was absolutely perfect!! Thanks so much for letting us use your home. We would 10000000% recommend.

Beautiful home in a beautiful location! Unfortunately the weather was not warm enough for us to take the kayaks/canoe out, but we fished from the shoreline quite a bit. Our family (ages 18 to 78) had a great time during our stay--much to do, but also peaceful/relaxing...and the sauna was amazing! :)

All About Marquette

Located on the southern shores of Lake Superior, on Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Marquette is a picturesque port town surrounded by dense coniferous and deciduous forests. The waters of Lake Superior provide several opportunities for recreational activities like surfing, kayaking, swimming, and lounging among the area's many soft sandy beaches. In addition, the nearby hills and nature reserves host hiking and mountain biking trails along with ski runs and tubing in the winter months.

As Michigan's largest city on the peninsula, home to Northern Michigan University, Marquette is a spirited college town with plenty of cultural offerings to keep you busy. You’ll also discover several craft breweries and restaurants nestled alongside Gothic and Romanesque-style historic buildings, including the Marquette Maritime Museum showcasing the area’s nautical heritage. Spending an evening on a restaurant patio while checking out the dancing Aurora Borealis lights makes for a wonderful outing in this vibrant, outdoorsy town.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Marquette

Marquette's climate has wide seasonal variations and weather conditions in terms of temperature and precipitation, with the area seeing relatively high humidity levels throughout the year. Summer months tend to bring increased rain levels and hotter temperatures from May to September. The Downtown Marquette Farmers Market is held through much of the summer and includes vendors selling locally sourced produce, baked goods, and crafts in addition to prepared food and artisanal products.

Fall is an excellent time to book vacation rentals in Marquette. Brisk temperatures, moderate weather, and a brilliant display of autumn hues make for enjoyable conditions to walk the town and explore the surrounding nature parks. Winters in Marquette bring temperatures that regularly fall below freezing, occasionally freezing the lake and spurring locals to lace up their ice skates. Snowfall in the surrounding hills means fantastic conditions for skiing and other winter activities.

Black Rock Cliffs

The rock formations rise roughly 20 feet out of the chilly water, providing a fantastic sunset vista after your hike through to the cliffside trails. The surrounding park is adorned with lush forests, coves, beaches, and marshes to explore by kayak, canoe, or paddleboard.
