The local consignment shop, which supports hospice care, offers great prices. For a meal, check out Shine—known for unique dishes and excellent service. In Fairview, The Local Joint is a must-visit. This old-fashioned diner, owned by a single mom, serves hearty meals that last all day. Their eggs Benedict, with fresh spinach, avocado, and homemade skillet potatoes, is a standout. Watching “CoCo” cook—his energy is unmatched—is an experience! Get there early; we went twice, and it was packed. Consider contributing to The Local Joint’s “pay it forward” option. A $10 donation covers a meal for someone in need. This region of North Carolina was severely impacted by Hurricane Helene. The destruction is heartbreaking, but the community is rebuilding. Many businesses and walking trails remain closed, so keep that in mind.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the stone cottage in Hot Springs. The location was far enough from the hustle and bustle to be a peaceful getaway yet still only about 45 minutes from Asheville offering a lot to do. All in all, I would recommend this place to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in western North Carolina.

This space is super-clean, spacious, well-appointed, beautifully decorated, and had everything I needed for a place to come home to after working in the area every day!!! I looked forward to getting there every day! The response time was super quick when I had any questions at all! Grab Door Dash, go out, or cook in! All great possibilities when you stay in Hilary’s place! I can’t say enough about the classy feel of the space and the amenities! She even had bottles of water, snacks, and Lindt Chocolates!! Everything worked famously! The home is super bright with beautiful sunshine when the curtains are open. The back door (9-pane) and the front door (3 slit panes) windows have no covering, so they add extra sunshine to the space! The couch and master room (was just me) bed (with very nice linens) are both super comfy. The bathroom, & all its accoutrements, felt like pure luxury! Also, plenty of storage space to stretch and put my things away, as if I was home!

My experience was great, very cozy cabin and all of the pictures match as well. Would definitely recommend staying here!

This cabin is well decorated, maintained, and homey. The hosts were so sweet and accommodating even left a sweet hand written note and gift for my wife’s birthday. The only thing we didn’t like was how close it proximity it was to the main house and the amenity of the fire pit feeling like it was in a shared space while we wanted a romantic private weekend. It being a guest house was disclosed in the description however was our fault that we didn’t fully read the full description. We enjoyed exploring the town, food was great but closed early even on the weekends (9pm) and catawba falls was beautiful! We would recommend this location and the hosts in a heartbeat.

A beautiful location, right on the Watauga river. A very peaceful and serene environment. My family and I loved staying here and my 3 yr old son especially loved seeing the geese and playing in the river. The house is older construction, but very charming. It has been updated beautifully for modern day comfort. The host was very accommodating. The hot tub was very clean and very relaxing. We would love to stay here again.

The stay was amazing. It was clean, to the point I would say it was spotless. Plenty of amenities are provided. The cottage was temperature controlled and made me and my girlfriend feel at home. I would definitely recommend. For its quality, the cottage is a very cheap stay! It could definitely be more pricey because of how nice it is.

What a perfect spot! Our little family, including our dog, loved David’s place. The fenced in back yard & well stocked kitchen were highlights. As others have noted, it is on a busy road, but from the backyard you can’t really tell — it feels very private. We would absolutely come back and stay again.

Our first ABNB experience and Bill made everything easy. House was perfect for us. We are in our 50s and traveled with my 75yr old mom and too small pups. The house is amazing, clean, quiet area off the main rd. Exactly what we wanted. We will definitely return as my kids and grandkids live up here. Perfect host!

What a great stay! Karen's place is exceptionally quiet, clean and comfortable - even though she allows dogs, we did not see a single dog hair. And Karen has thought of virtually everything; this might be the most well-appointed place we've ever stayed, and Karen is quick to provide anything else you might need. The living room had many comfy places to sit, and good reading light - a big "plus" for us. The kitchen is YUGE and bright, and it was easy to prepare both small and large meals. We LOVED sitting in the rocking chairs on the front porch and watching the hummingbirds! Karen's place is very convenient to great hiking and views, only about 10 minutes from Carver's Gap and even closer to Roan Mountain State Park. The town of Roan Mountain is also about 10 minutes away, and we had an excellent meal at the Puerto Escondido Mexican Restaurant there. Karen is a very thoughtful and responsive host. We highly recommend the Roan Mountain Hideaway, and hope to return!

It was a pleasure to stay at Hilary's home for 2 nights. The location is wonderful; it is an easy 10-15 min drive to downtown but it still feels very secluded. The home was clean, modern, and very spacious for 2 people and a dog! I definitely recommend staying here if you are coming to the area.

This was our second time staying at Black Bear Cottage and it was just as wonderful the second time! Our kids played for hours in the creek, we were comfortable in the cabin and close to all the fun things we wanted to do - hiking and the Biltmore and a day trip to Dollywood! Great place to stay in Linville Falls. Used as a base camp for Grandfather Mountain (~20 min) and Linville Falls Winery (~2 min). Would definitely stay there again.

We absolutely loved this cottage. Very clean and plenty of amenities. As birders, we thoroughly enjoyed the 45 different species identified by our bird app over our two day stay. We would definitely recommend the cozy cottage!

This is our second time staying at one of Claudia's cottages. Always a nice get away and be peaceful. Claudia is a great host. The power went out and right away, she messaged us stating she contacted the power company. I highly recommend Claudia's place. We will definitely come back.

Beautiful home, the directions were great. The home is very large, lots of space to cook and play games. Asheville is a pretty easy 20 minute drive away. It rained our entire stay but there were lots of outdoor spaces to sit on the two patios and a fire pit. Very lovely home!

Great stay! Everything was clean and everything worked. Just like the pictures. We found a Yellowjacket nest on a chair near the fire pit and Becky sent her some with some spray to take care of it for us so we could enjoy the fire. Note that the driveway is very steep so be prepared!
