Ryokan vacation rentals in Kyoto

A beautiful, traditional house overlooking the river. Shops, restaurants and bus/train close, we felt very much at home. Highly recommended.

A wonderful experience. The house adjoins the To-ji temple which is a must to visit especially on the 21st of the month. We slept very well on the modern futons, the bed clothes smelled so good and the onsen was such a pleasant moment. The house is big and w modern equipment. The room at the back is quiet and really nice. We asked Maya some restaurant tips and trips we wanted to do and we always got a super fast answer. Very helpful.

Very warm and helpful household (luggage room option). Good location (quiet and few minutes to Kyoto Station). Rooms very clean, spacious and cosy; beds very comfortable. Everything as described. I highly recommend it!

Wir waren 2 Nächte als Familie mit drei Kindern (18, 18, 15) dort. Die Gastgeberin Yoshino-san ist sehr herzlich und zuvorkommend. Die Kommunikation ist klar, sie hat zu allen möglichen Themen Schilder auf Englisch, z.T. sogar auf Deutsch parat. Die 2 durch Schiebetür getrennten Zimmer sind groß, waren aber mit den insgesamt fünf Futons natürlich recht voll gestellt, wenn auch ausreichend. Es gab viel Platz in Schränken! WC und Badezimmer waren sehr sauber. Man sollte unbedingt einmal das japanische Frühstück von Yoshino-san ausprobieren. Empfehlenswert ist außerdem ein Besuch im Tempel, dessen Priester ihr Sohn ist. Wir hatten die Möglichkeit, einmal an der morgendlichen Zeremonie teilzunehmen, was sehr beeindruckend war. Der Tempel liegt perfekt zwischen Kaiserpalast und Hijo-Burg. Es gibt eine Auswahl von kleinen guten japanischen und anderen Restaurants in der Nähe.  Wer ein authentisches Erlebnis in einem japanischen Heim sucht, ist hier genau richtig! 고풍스러운 느낌이 잘 묻어나서 일본식 숙소에서 묵어보고 싶다 하면 추천함. 숙소에서 지내면서 필요한 모든게 준비되어 있어 부족한 점이 없었음. 다만 2층으로 올라가는 계단이 매우 가파르다는 점과 자다가 화장실 가고 싶으면 그 계단을 내려가야 한다는 단점이 있음. 미닫이 문이 굉장히 많은데 잘 닫고 다니지 않으면 굉장히 추우므로 주의하길. 역이나 유명 관광지로부터 그리 멀지 않은 위치이나 주택들이 모여있는 곳이기 때문에 골목길이 헷갈릴 수 있음.(구글맵 사용 추천) 그나마 큰 도로 바로 옆이라 택시타기엔 유리했음. 가격과 시설을 고려했을때 4인이 가장 적절해보임. 주인분도 매우 친절하시니 호텔이 지겨우면 매우 추천함.

Très bel hébergement, on s'y sent comme à la maison. Yoko nousi avait même mis des fraises dans le frigos, très gentille attention de sa part. L'arrêt de bus est vraiment très près de la maison et permet de rejoindre le métro ou la gare très rapidement. Un super séjour, tout était parfait!!! Merci Yoko.

Close the train station, clean house, it let us happen family trip.

Nous avons passé un agréable séjour. Le logement était assez spacieux pour quatre, très propre et bien équipé. Le quartier était très calme et proche du métro et de bus.

la maison traditionnelle dans une petite ruelle traditionnelle à côté d'un grand axe où il y a métro et bus. La décoration intérieure est très raffinée avec des œuvres d'art très jolies. l'hôte à été très réactive quand nous avons du poser des questions. Nous serions bien resté quelques jours de plus.

La maison de Kitano est une maison traditionnelle japonaise où tout est impeccable, de bon goût et de qualité. Nous nous y sommes sentis à notre aise. Kitano est très attentionnée. Le logement est un peu loin des principales activités touristiques mais le bus a quelques pas du logement nous y emmène facilement.

We had a great time in Kyoto, and enjoyed our stay at this house. Host was very friendly and responsive. The house itself was very clean and well taken care of. Its close location to the train station made travel easy, and local food spots were within walking distance. I would recommend this stay for anyone visiting the area.

This house is located in a fantastic location, only a 6 min walk from the nearest station. Shiho, the host, was very accommodating. She greeted us as we arrived and gave a house tour. She also asked how we were going and made sure everyone was okay, something that is rarely done for Airbnb hosts. Everything in the house was clean and organised, the beds and futons were comfortable, and overall we had a great time staying at this place.

Very nice place with clean and hot tub including place! Drinks, gifts, and quick communications are great to feel welcome at place.

We loved our stay in this Airbnb! So perfectly located in the center of all we wanted to see. Walkable distance to many things or cheap taxi ride. The wash room was so cute! We just loved the wallpaper and that it had a nice shower and bath. Every night I walked to the local onsen alone late at night and felt totally safe. Restaurants close by were delicious. I highly recommend the ramen shop on the same street. The sleeping mats were very comfortable and the home quite warm and shower as well. We really appreciated the guide books which we used to find the best spots for cherry blossoms. Thank you so much for easy instructions and a comfortable stay! We would love to return again.

A delightful, charming building within easy reach of trains, buses and restaurants. Located centrally to the top tourist destinations made it easy to travel in any direction and have an enjoyable day and was quiet enough to be away from the really busy tourist areas. We loved our stay and would definietly recommend to friends. Thank you!

Yuri and Hori’s guest house offers an authentic experience in Kyoto. The house truly gives you the feeling of living in a quaint home inside of the city. Situated near a large train station (5min walk), the location is great. As far as communication goes, Yuri and Hori are proactive, kind, and welcoming hosts. I wholeheartedly recommend staying here!

The home was stunning, the pictures don’t do the room or the garden justice! And the host was lovely. I had a great stay.

Wir hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt. Die Zimmer sind sehr hübsch und das Frühstück war fantastisch! Die Lage war für uns perfekt. Wir wurden sehr nett empfangen und verabschiedet. Die Unterkunft war für uns insgesamt sehr gut, ist allerdings (nachts) hellhörig, was beim Schlafen stören kann. Es werden aber Ohropax kostenlos bereitgestellt. Vielen Dank für die Gastfreundschaft! Séjour inoubliable dans ce logement. Le cadre est magnifique, et nous avons par ailleurs été extrêmement bien accueillis par une équipe aux petits soins. Sans aucun doute le point fort de notre séjour à Kyoto. Merci encore.

Albeit brief, this was my favorite stay of my entire Japan trip. The hosts were incredibly friendly and always proactive in making sure we felt at home not just in our accommodation but also in Kyoto and the lovely and peaceful neighborhood the townhome resides in. They made sure to follow up every question we had and made sure we were able to travel and make our next destination smoothly. We had some stressful travel beforehand, but they were extremely flexible in made our trip much easier. Also their cute daily breakfast was delicious and every single room had so much personality. It has a shared common space and bathroom but it never felt inconvenient and also allows you to get a one of a kind experience in Kyoto. The price was also incredibly reasonable and a great value. I look forward to returning next time I’m in town!

Our stay at Yamashita’s beautiful 100-year-old Japanese villa in Kyoto was the perfect way to end our 2 week vacation in Japan. The house is spacious, very clean, and well-equipped, perfect for our group of 12. It has everything you need and more. It has a serene garden, jacuzzi, and sauna—the kids especially loved the jacuzzi! Yamashita is an EXCEPTIONAL host—very warm, helpful, and accommodating. She drove us to supermarkets and places we wanted to go and even picked us up for a small fee. She prepared simple yet delicious breakfasts. She was quick to respond to messages and even guided us on using local buses. Though the house is a bit far from the touristy areas, the peace and quiet of Yamashita’s home made it the perfect retreat. It offered a more authentic and relaxing experience of Japan. I highly recommend Yamashita’s villa to anyone looking for comfort, culture, and outstanding hospitality. And to anyone looking for a truly memorable stay in a traditional Japanese home.

What a beautiful traditional Japanese home to stay We totally loved the old house, beautiful decorations, the inner courtyard and our room. Everything was perfect! Chieri is a great host, we felt very welcomed and home right away. We were on a road trip, so we also enjoyed that we could wash our clothes. And we tried out the traditional japanese bath. Perfect!
