Creating memories with adult children who are living their own lives can be hard to schedule. We found the perfect opportunity for a quick weekend getaway hosted by Leif. What we thought we were getting was a house big enough to host our group. What we got, was so much more! As soon as you walk into the space, you realize that the pictures you saw on the posting do not do justice to the real thing. You’re transported into another era where life slows down and you realize the simplest of things are the really important things: like family. My children especially enjoyed the opportunity to meet Leif’s animals and feed them rinds and banana peels. Peanut was the star of the show ( if you know, you know). Thank you, Leif, for a beautiful weekend that provided a much needed respite, but offered so much more than we were expecting. We can’t wait to come back and make this a family tradition though next time we will stay longer and be more prepared with our animal food supplies : )

Madison was very attentive and friendly, we were very happy with our stay and look forward to spending the holidays again with the family at her place!

We had a great time at this cabin. Spacious living room and kitchen, all the amenities. The hot tub was great after a day of skiing - magical to be sitting outside warm and comfortable with the snow drifting down.

We enjoyed the stay at Tina's place. Her house is in a quite neighborhood and very close to the sugar pine point state park. Tina provided very detailed check-in instruction and the place is well-equipped (you can even use the bikes from the shed). We had an issue with the hot water from the shower and she quickly communicated back and arranged for the fix. I recommend to stay in this place.

We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful cabin! It's tucked away on a very private and peaceful piece of property, which made it the perfect escape. The owners clearly put a lot of care and thought into the experience—they went above and beyond to make everything welcoming and comfortable. The cabin was spotless, and it was such a joy and unique opportunity to relax and take in the natural surroundings, especially the gardens. We truly didn’t want to leave and tried to extend our stay, but it was already booked—no surprise, considering how special this place is. We can't wait to come back! The hummingbirds were a bonus!

You won’t find a better value, a more charming historic cabin, or a more thoughtful host near Truckee and Lake Tahoe. It was a one-of-a-kind stay we’re really glad we experienced.

Stayed here for the last 2 days of our honeymoon after a busy week in Napa. What a perfect place to unwind, relax, and get back to nature! The cabin was absolutely perfect for us and provided a great home base for anything in and around Lake Tahoe as it’s located pretty much central to everything around while still being secluded enough to not feel like you’re in a city. The neighborhood was super safe and quiet too; I left my wallet on the dash, doors unlocked over night accidentally, and nothing happened, nor would I be worried to start. Jolene was an amazing host, provided exceptional check-in/out directions, and fantastic local recommendations, and was absolutely un-intrusive. The cabin was fully stocked with quality stuff for everything we needed; plenty of towels, soaps, laundry detergent, etc. We plan on returning back here in a few months over summer and definitely over winter for some skiing. 10 out of 10 would recommend to anyone looking for a luxurious, quiet,Tahoe get away!

The house is at a great spot, close to nature and town. And away from noisy highways. We had a great time exploring the Tahoe area, and relaxing back at the house

Had an exceptional weekend at the Workshop for a wedding in town! Gail supplied everything you could possibly need and was so amazing in giving us a recommendation within walking distance for dinner and communicating as needed throughout the stay. Our accommodations were very clean and super comfy, checkout was easy-peasy. Highly recommend, it was truly wonderful - will be back (with the pup this time!) if ever in the El Dorado area again

We had a great stay! The cabin was very clean and thoughtfully designed with lots of details that make it feel like a high-quality retreat, especially for families. The kitchen was incredibly well stocked—much better than most rentals—and made cooking easy and enjoyable. The cabin stayed warm overnight even without turning on the heat, and the WiFi was reliable enough for a work video call. Beds and mattresses were comfortable, and there were plenty of towels and blankets for everyone. One thing to note for families with young kids: I wouldn’t recommend it for toddlers, as the stairs are steep and the heater is floor-mounted. Fortunately, our child was old enough for it not to be an issue. A small tip: the melamine plates are very cute, but not microwave-safe—learned that the hard way! Would definitely recommend and stay again.

We had an awesome experience staying at Stefan’s cabin. It was a peaceful and relaxing retreat for the weekend. We highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a quiet time away from the city.

Cozy cabin, felt right at home. My son loved having the top floor to himself. The downtown was adorable. You are still about 2 hours from Yosemite so plan for that but it’s a beautiful drive and worth it! The deck privacy and trees are amazing. If we are ever in the area again, I would be sure and come back.

We had a relaxing and enjoyable stay with our dog. The home is a peaceful and quiet escape from the busy pace of everyday life. Surrounded by wilderness, it offered a great chance to disconnect and unwind. We even spotted a few deer in the late evening and early morning, which was such a wonderful experience! Just a couple of minor things to note: the bathroom sink was a bit farther than my wife liking due to height, and the bath towels could have been a bit cleaner. Otherwise, everything was great, and we truly appreciated the serene atmosphere. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a tranquil getaway!

We all loved the house, the surroundings, and peaceful/quiet setting. It was comfortable, clean, well stocked, etc. Everything regarding our stay was A+! The pool table was a big hit too. I stayed here with my pup and really enjoyed my stay. The cabin is very cute and cozy, I loved taking relaxing baths and walks around the neighborhood. I was able to explore arnold and get around easily too! Would love to come back!

This cabin is clean and checks all the boxes. Has all the basics. A quality stay. Had a terrific time.

A Perfect Stay! From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the seamless check-in process and Maria’s warm hospitality. The space was immaculate, tastefully decorated, and equipped with all the amenities I needed for a comfortable stay. The location was ideal—peaceful yet conveniently close to local attractions like Jenkins lake. I especially appreciated the private location of the house, its views, and all the games there. Communication with Maria was prompt and helpful throughout my stay. She went above and beyond to ensure I had everything I needed. The Black House was the perfect mountain getaway for us and our dog! The fenced in yard was lovely, with a festive fire pit in the middle lit up with lights. The house was tastefully decorated and well appointed with all the amenities we could ask for. Such a comfortable and scenic spot!

Shannon’s place was lovely. Great space indoors and out for 4-6 people and our huskies. Beautiful redwoods in the yard and visits by turkey and deer. Close driving distance to restaurants. Shannon’s place is very well equipped with anything you would want or need for dining, sleeping and relaxing. I always appreciate a property that feels like someone’s home rather than a hotel. Shannon’s place was exactly that. Shannon is a very responsive, communicative and helpful host! I should add that there are great vineyards and the lovely Sly Park nearby that we weren’t able to explore because we were in the area for a graduation in El Dorado . Would love to come back, stay st Shannon’s & explore more

Our group thoroughly enjoyed this cozy and functional cabin. It had everything we needed for our stay, good Wi-Fi, and well-stocked supplies. Quiet and with a beautiful view and access to the river. Good price point and overall a great experience - would recommend to other travelers!

Perfect place if you're looking to get away and enjoy some peace and quiet. Stunning views all over and a beautiful large deck to enjoy it all. Loved cozying up around the fire at night too.

The cabin was absolutely adorable. It has a super homey feeling, and super comfy. The stove is definitely the highlight of this place! The washer and dryer were super helpful! Cozy beds and towels as well.

Nice house in forest setting close to hwy 50 and El Dorado National Forest. Private but a little too close to the highway. You can hear traffic if sitting outside but not from inside and you can't really see the cars because of all the beautiful trees surrounding the house.
