Peaceful Poolside Garden Retreat

MarkRating, 5 stars1 week ago
This was one of the best Airbnb experiences we’ve ever had. The hosts had incredible communication and made us feel so welcome from the start. They even left a handwritten note for me and my girlfriend, which meant a lot. The house was absolutely spotless, cozy, and had everything we needed and more. They even offered us dinner — something we never expected but deeply appreciated. Their dog Max was the sweetest, most comforting presence and really made the house feel like home. The backyard was beautiful, peaceful, and perfect for relaxing. Every detail of this stay showed how much the hosts care about their guests. If I could give a 10/5 star review, I absolutely would. We’ll definitely be coming back — and we’re already recommending this place to everyone we know. Thank you for such a thoughtful and unforgettable stay!

Sunny cottage, ocean views, private beach access

TrishRating, 5 stars1 week ago
This is my second stay at Haley’s and both times the experience was stellar. The cottage is close enough to see and hear the ocean. If you look out the bedroom window you can see beautiful sunsets between the houses across the street. It’s a great location, Point Arena being close by to the north and with many beautiful beaches along the way. There is a wonderful little health food store in Point Arena as well as a great bakery and coffee shop. Gualala is not much farther down to the south and has several nice restaurants and a couple of small grocery stores. It’s a quiet, peaceful and cozy little cottage and an excellent value for such a nice place on the coast. Haley is super easy to work with and if you need anything she is very responsive and still respectful of privacy.

The home was wonderful with well thought-out and creative details in every room. The beds were comfortable. The location and views were incredible. We spent the evening by the fireplace watching the sunset and then listened to the ocean waves and stargazed while sitting in the hottub. The stay made for an unforgettable experience for my family who had flown in to visit us and the area!

Farmhouse Cabin in the woods w Privacy! AC & WIFI

RachelRating, 5 stars3 days ago
We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful cabin! It's tucked away on a very private and peaceful piece of property, which made it the perfect escape. The owners clearly put a lot of care and thought into the experience—they went above and beyond to make everything welcoming and comfortable. The cabin was spotless, and it was such a joy and unique opportunity to relax and take in the natural surroundings, especially the gardens. We truly didn’t want to leave and tried to extend our stay, but it was already booked—no surprise, considering how special this place is. We can't wait to come back! The hummingbirds were a bonus!

The yard was great for our dog to run around in, and the nearby beach was really fun to explore as well. We hope to return soon!

What a fun weekend! We booked the tree house for my son's birthday, and he was thrilled! It was peaceful, cozy, and so different from a regular hotel. Inside, it was clean and comfortable. The beds were cozy, and there was even a well-equipped little kitchenette. The fully functioning bathroom was a big plus! We also had a great time outside, roasting marshmallows (we’ve brought our own firewood). Sleeping in the tree house was amazing!
Also, thank you for the complimentary snacks and drinks, it’s such a thoughtful touch!

Postmodern Treehouse-like Cabin by Charles Moore

NioRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
The cabin was a great find. The architecture is really interesting. You’ll be climbing stairs a lot both inside and out, but that’s the charm of the unique layout and its integration into the landscape. Everything feels warm and lived-in and has everything you need, more like someone’s home than a more hotel-like Airbnb. The views are incredible. You see trees from every window, and the valley from the front. There are decks on both sides of the house, so there’s always a sunny or shady spot. The surroundings are incredibly quiet and secluded. This is a perfect spot if you’re looking to surround yourself with the quiet of the forest. Correspondingly, the town is very light on shopping and dining options. The trail on the property is a nice bonus and extends further into the back of the property if you look closely. There are also tons of beautiful trails all around Pine Mountain Club. I really recommend Woodland Falls Trail, which runs along a quiet creek.

Eagle's Nest Treehouse Farm Stay

KrystalRating, 5 stars1 month ago
This is a piece of Heaven on Earth. Glamping at its finest ❤️ Bed was toasty and warm, propane heater was easy to light. Hot shower, soft towels. It was so amazing to wake up in the trees. I didn’t have a plan while staying here and ended up checking out Duncans Mills, which is a cute historic logging town. Cute shops and great coffee. Bought some snacks at the general store and had a campfire dinner and it was awesome. Make sure so bring your own firewood. Also went for about a two hour trek on the grounds the morning before I left and it was so beautiful and I highly recommend. So grateful for this place and the wonderful animals I saw. I can’t wait to come back.

Magical Tree House

NancyRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Loved, loved staying in the tree house, it was cozy, yet spacious, had everything we needed for a peaceful stay to disconnect from technology and connect with nature. The thought that was put in to the craftsmanship of the tree house is so impressive and just awe inspiring. Most of all I enjoyed the outdoors bathtub with an incredible and relaxing view. The balcony also has a beautiful view of the pond and property, the right place to have your coffee and listen to the sounds of nature. The bathroom inside was so appreciated as I had understood there was an outhouse. Definitely was a restful and recharged stay and look forward to staying there again.

Your guide to California

All About California

As the third largest state in America and home to a number of famous sites, such as the Golden Gate Bridge, Hollywood, and breathtaking Highway 1 coastline, California has a lot to offer.

In Southern California, Los Angeles is a mix of beach and city living, with world-class international cuisine spread throughout its many neighborhoods, legendary surf spots along its coastline, and hiking in canyons that offer stunning views of the glittering Downtown Los Angeles skyline. Day trips from this sprawling megatropolis bring you into the midcentury design hub of Palm Springs, or the desert landscapes of Joshua Tree National Park.

Up north, San Francisco is a compact city with rolling hills that make driving around or riding its famous cable cars feel like being in a slow-moving roller coaster. The prize for walking to the tops of its many neighborhood parks include views of the Bay Bridge and the iconic orange Golden Gate Bridge, as well as Golden Gate Park, which houses a number of notable museums. The city has a rich history of attracting artists, writers, musicians, who continue to make their marks in San Francisco concerts halls, dive bars, galleries, and museums.

Away from these big metropolises, Santa Cruz and Big Sur draw people to their dramatic Redwood-lined coastlines while Napa Valley and Sonoma bring wine lovers from around the world into town. Yosemite National Park, in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, is a haven for hiking, rafting, and rock climbing.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in California

Depending on where you’re traveling, you could experience all four seasons or remain in the fog for your entire trip. Generally Los Angeles is dry and arid, with occasional heat waves in the summer, while San Francisco experiences a marine layer of fog that remains even through the summer (if you’re visiting San Francisco, always bring layers for the fog and the wind). Snow comes to the state’s mountain ranges in the winter, bringing cross-country and downhill enthusiasts to ski hubs like Mammoth, Lake Tahoe, and Big Bear.

Top things to do in California

San Diego

When it comes to Southern California beaches, San Diego has some of the best opportunities to swim and surf, with notably warm water and air temperatures year-round, great surf breaks, and plenty of outfitters offering gear and lessons. Back on land, San Diego’s iconic Balboa Park houses 17 museums as well as numerous historic and cultural attractions across 1,200 acres. Beer connoisseurs know the city as one of the country’s epicenters of craft breweries.

Yosemite National Park

Yosemite National Park, in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, is known for its epic waterfalls; wildlife sightings of marmots, bobcats, and dozens of species of butterflies; and scenic trails winding to lookouts like Glacier Point. Catch a glimpse of El Capitan, one of the park’s highest peaks, and gaze in wonder at the breathtaking Bridalveil Falls, which are at their best in spring.

Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe carries the prize of being the largest alpine lake in North America, and it’s one of the most iconic natural attractions in California. Its crystal clear waters make it seem like you could almost stare straight down to the bottom of its 1,645 feet. Come here to swim, hike or ride bikes along the paths that line the lake’s exterior, and in the winter, ski the slopes and Nordic trails nearby.
