Vacation rentals with a fire pit in Kumarakom

I was there for a month. Idyllic place in a quiet, rural area, a 45 second walk to the beach, with a porch from which you can hear the sound of waves crashing. Hot shower and cool A/C. The best service I’ve ever had at an Airbnb by Jeffin, who happily made me meals and brought me tea throughout the day. Challenges as a digital nomad: the wifi is usually fast, but it goes down several times a day, and the cellular data is usually only 1 or 2 bars from the room. Power outages are at least once a day. There is a power backup, but it requires turning the generator on (which was done). The room only has a narrow window. I wished that there was a screen on the window so that I could turn the A/C off at night and open the window without bugs coming in. I hope that this place gets more reliable internet by upgrading to fiber and getting a power inverter, and a mobile signal booster. Finally, it states that there is a beach view. This is not true. But overall, I was happy and productive.

Shelter is a Paradise! A dream of Alice and Jacob, imbibed with a lot of love & Passion. We were so grateful to meet them and spend a day with these wonderful souls at The Shelter. The make and built of Shelter is an ART and they’ve scaled up every corners of the space. The natures touch along with Jacob’s farm and Alice’s garden makes the Shelter more green. You could experience every moment lived here with a touch of love and care. Hospitality is off impeccable standards. Please make a note, this can’t be a one time visit as we tend to fall in love with The Shelter. PS: Don’t miss it out and thank me later

Even though the place may be a bit different from the photos, the surroundings are nice and the host is very god and very helpful. He has arranged for the food with in short time even though it is from outside. You will have a good time at the place.

My first stay on Airbnb n I was fortunate. Visited many homestays over the years and am certain I can't find a better place. Thoughtfully done all-in-one property - A century-old (or young) bunglow with ~Indian/Portuguese/ British furniture and artefacts ~Modern, functioning fittings and amenities ~Amazing library ~Multi-purpose hall with Denon/ Polk AV system, pantry, washroom that can be utilised for formal/ informal gatherings or to play TT, indoor games ~A full-fledged gym - most useful on long stays. ~Quiet bedroom with plush bedding. Sleep quality was good - Important to have my head clear. ~Popular destinations - Fort Kochi, Bolgatty, Cherai within 15 - 40 minutes drive I convey my sincere gratitude, regards and appreciation to Mony Aunty, her staff who took care of me very well, Mr Titi, her son & cohost who was available during my stay. I couldn’t find any glitches that required attention. The only regret was that I stayed just one night, buy I'll return for more. Cheers.

The place was absolutely delightful, kudos to caretaker (Sujith and his partner) who keeps the place in its pristine condition. Rooms are spacious and can take you back in time. My pet is extremely choosy about his sleep and people he meets, people there took care of him like their own and made his feel at home. Thanks to Roopa and team for preserving this place in its most beautiful condition. I would go back again! Note : If you’re a heavy breakfast seeker, plan for it with them in advance. The food was delicious but the only in limited quantity. Enjoy!☺️

Roopa’s homestay was ideal. The building and furniture/decor is beautifully done, in a tranquil setting surrounded by nature. We enjoyed the bird sounds and prayer chants and bells from the nearby church each morning, away from the chaos of the city. Roopa and her family is attentive, kind, and very accommodating. Breakfast was traditional and delicious each morning, otherwise we ate outside the property. It’s a 30-35 minute drive from Fort Kochi which we didn’t realize at first, but wasn’t a problem for us. Note only the large bedroom has AC, and in early March it was a little hot to sleep in the other rooms though the fans up there are very powerful so depends on what your tolerance is for heat. Overall, would highly recommend! We have nothing but great things to say!

Wow! I love this place! Roy is an absolute mega-host, the room was big enough for yoga and exercise, the WiFi was fast and stable enough for me to work, and Roy, Raji, and the whole host family welcomed us with open hearts. I also appreciated the outdoor shower (great for washing sand off my feet) and the great times we spent with Roy, his family, and neighbors, playing music, dancing, and eating delicious home-cooked food. It’s felt like the perfect home away from home, right near the beach!!!! 🏝️

I had an incredible stay at Jeffry's Airbnb - it would be better to say I made a new friend in Kerala. Jeffry is incredibly helpful with recommendations and has in-depth knowledge about Kottayam and Kerala. He even introduced me to his family and took me to the family Christmas lunch. I'm glad I stayed at his place and will certainly stay again when I visit Kerala.
