Pet-friendly vacation rentals in Island of Ortigia

Salvatore was very friendly and was waiting for us upon arrival. We immediately felt welcome. The house has everything you need, a nice little outside area and is just a 20 minute walk to the old city center. Very much recommended!

Sebastiano's place is located in the old fishing district in Ortigia. Small winding alleys, small two-story houses. Everything is very romantic. The daily market (open 8 AM - 2 PM) is also accessible via a two-minute walk. The house is an old but totally restored house on two floors and a terrace on the roof. The description in the ad shows what it looks like. Everything in Ortigia is within walking distance. But public transport is also represented everywhere with small buses. And the train station is a 20-minute walk away if you don't want to wait for the bus. We had a wonderful stay at the house and were able to have breakfast on the terrace with a view of the beautiful old houses that are gradually being restored. The market was always an experience, and is also much cheaper for tourist souvenirs than in the tourist shops. All in all we had a wonderful 10 days in the house.

We stayed at Armando's for two nights and had a great time. The location is quiet, in the Syracusan countryside, near the beautiful beaches Le Fontane Bianche, Ognina, Arenella etc. and a few kilometers from the beautiful but confusing Syracuse. The accommodation was perfectly clean and equipped with everything you need, small kitchen, fridge, comfortable bed, air conditioning, a small entrance with table, chairs and umbrella, clothes rack, etc. Armando was very kind and helpful and provided us with great advice. If the opportunity arises, we will definitely return to his accommodation.

Marco arranged a VERY last minute booking for me when my other accommodation was a disaster. He made it easy for me to pack my bag and move in right on the spot! The building has incredible tall ceilings that make it feel expansive. And while the decor is not my style, I SO appreciate that it’s not cookie cutter ikea. Feels like someone really lives there. Do make sure to bring even your most basic cooking stuff (oil, salt) and know that the kitchen is a little short on carving knives, spatula and wooden utensils for use on the Teflon pans. Come prepared and you’ll be happy to stay for ages. Also the location is excellent, close to everything but quiet and tucked away. The neighborhood watch of cats are always looking out for you. I highly recommend this place!

Book with your eyes closed 👍We just spent 3 nights from 16 to 19 /10/2024, in Casa di Mauro , which totally matches the photos and descriptions. Ideally located near the temple of Apollo , we were quiet in this charming ultra clean, functional accommodation, equipped with everything that makes a place comfortable and above all tastefully decorated. The bedding is ultra comfortable . In addition , we enjoyed the warm welcome from our host, Maria . Thank you for his listening, his pro activity, his responsiveness and all his attention that brings the little more magical in the rental... water bottles and toilet products. Thank you also for his good tips and for the great places for lunch and dinner. All the ingredients were there to fully enjoy our stay in Syracuse in the heart of Ortigia and we felt in the accommodation very comfortable as home.…the experience delighted us and we will come back . As I have extended my stay for another month this is my second review of Luca's apartment. His lovely place is in a charming small complex of apartments. Staying here one feels more like a resident,rather than a tourist. A great start to the day is stepping out the door and seeing the across the way neighbors balconies lined with pots of beautiful flowers. A short walk away one comes upon the amazing Fountain of Diana . Along with there being many cafes, restaurants and shops ,the street market,etc the location of the apartment couldn't be better. I love coming back after being out and about to fix lunch with things from the market and nearby grocery store. Then to take a rest in the sun filled bedroom in it's very comfortable bed. What has really made my stay special is Luca. He is a truly caring and kind person that has made me feel at home here from the very first day. I feel grateful to have met him. Whether your stay is short or long term,it will be an enjoyable one.

Casa Nache is extremely lovingly and thoughtfully designed. I immediately felt comfortable there. It is quiet and yet very central. Anna communicated very quickly and courteously and always responded super nicely to messages. I absolutely recommend the place: it's amazing. Immediately I would stay there again!

We stayed here as a family for a week. The place is very nice and well maintained. In particular, the large garden where you always have the choice between sun and shade is great. The accommodation itself has everything you need including coffee and breakfast snacks. By car, supermarkets and restaurants are quickly accessible and the old town of Syracuse is only 15 minutes away. Silvia is very friendly and helpful. We felt very comfortable and enjoyed the tranquility.

Giuseppe was a great host, he told us lots of local places to go which were fantastic. The house was good value and the pool area was very nice. The house was clean and tidy and had everything we needed including an electric orange juice perfect for fresh Sicilian oranges. My negative comments would be that it is on a relatively busy road, you cannot walk to anything in the neighbourhood so you need a car. I also found the beds very hard and uncomfortable. However access to local beaches is easy by car and also into Syracuse/ Ortiga, I noticed lots of buses that if more organised we would have taken!

Stay for 9 including two teenagers and a baby, too short for my taste only 5 days but a change of scenery that feels good. The villa matches the photos and description. The coves are within walking distance. Good restaurants nearby Peppe is a very kind, patient, caring and understanding host. He advised us on beaches, restaurants, outings, car rentals etc... Thanks to him and his friend Manuela for the help and advice provided. I recommend it, you can book without a second thought.

Riccardo & Stefania were the perfect hosts, beautiful people who helped make our stay in Sicily a memorable one. Villa Gioia was a great base for our family as we explored the Syracuse area. Everything is a short drive away with Fontane Bianche not offering much, but nothing is far away either. The villa itself was clean, comfortable and had all we needed, but the standout was undoubtedly the outside space. Whether it was enjoying breakfast, relaxing by the pool, or cooking up a bbq, it was the perfect space for us to relax. In early April you can’t expect the pool to be warm, but it didn’t stop us using it every day. We hope to visit again

We had a lovely stay here and felt very welcomed from when we checked in. Stefania provides us with a guide and map of where to visit. There was milk, biscuits, tea and coffee, as well as oil/vinegar, salt and pepper, so that you could cook if you wished to. The apartment was clean and the gardens are pretty. The pool was lovely, a perfect temperature to escape from the heat! The apartment is not far from the town however I would recommend hiring a car to make it easier to explore the area.

The place is absolutely amazing, high quality build and decorations in everything, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The pool is the best I have seen, including hotel pools, as it’s deep enough at one end (well over 2 meters) to jump in and has a spring board. Location is near a road but it’s well isolated enough that you can’t see the traffic and it’s quiet, just a beautiful retreat. The kitchen is very well equipped and has a big dining room. Hosts are perfect - very responsive when you need them, non intrusive when you don’t. You need a car, but location next to Siracuse is perfect with lots of beautiful places to visit nearby. We would definitely return!

Wonderful place with great facilities. Walking distance to a number of beaches. Our kids lived in the pool. It really makes a difference during summer months. Our host Germana was amazing. Very responsive and attended to any small queries or issues we had. Highly recommend.

Nice place close to the beach! Family of 5 and had plenty of space for all.

This is a convenient flat with loads of great restaurants etc nearby. We recommend a great local bar/restaurant Il Quarto steak house. Proper local bar, full all the time when most other restaurants empty, wide selection of great food, proper bar staff, etc. Parking was Ok. Easy walk to the archeological park which was fantastic. Only issue we faced was that the spiral staircase to the bedroom is hard to negotiate with a large suitcase and you have to do a steep up and down staircase to access the front door - it was not too much of a problem for us as we are fit but it might be hard for some people

This apartment is truly fantastic .It is large with great sea views. It is well equipped and is the best Airbnb we have stayed in Ortigia is a great area full of historic streets and many outstanding restaurants Cannot speak highly enough of the area.We will be coming again

This was a perfect location in Ortigia, on a characteristic narrow street but close to many shops including a small supermarket which was literally 30 mt away from the flat. But what really stood out for us was Carmelo’s availability and hospitality. We rented a car and got a fine because of a misunderstanding. Carmelo went personally to the local police station and managed to get it cancelled. He went well out of his way to help us. Unprecedented in our experience. Thank you so much!

I had an amazing stay at Angela’s. She was very friendly and welcoming. It was nice to sit out in the garden with her lovely cat, Lila!

Very pleasant and quiet house in a clutch of streets near the sea about 15 minutes drive from Syracuse. The gardens are very pretty and immaculately maintained and the kitchen had an excellent supply of cooking equipment. The property is spacious and airy with good bedding and air-conditioning. Shower was very clean with strong pressure of hot water. As other reviews have noted there is no Wi-Fi but the 4G reception is excellent and I was able to use that for video calls et cetera so not a major problem. The host was very prompt and efficient in communicating and was super friendly when we met them at the house.

Small house next to the owner's but a separation is made so that everyone maintains their privacy. The house is very well-equipped for a short or long stay. Great location to explore the Plemmirio Reserve while being a 20-minute drive to downtown Syracuse. Small rocky beach very nice 4 min drive to the accommodation. Salvatore is a very welcoming host and available as needed. We recommend this place if you're visiting the Syracuse area. Great value for money.

Davide and Rosario were wonderful hosts and always nearby to talk to. The apartment was not large but exactly as described, and very comfortable. It's right in the heart of Ortigia, we spent 7 days exploring every street. It is within walking distance to the archeological museums but it did take about 40 minutes. I can't recommend it enough!

Beautiful spacious apartment. Perfect location as restaurants, shops and sight seeing attractions are within a walkable distance. Mario was helpful and always promptly replied to any questions asked.
