Family-friendly vacation rentals in Houghton Lake

Even with cold, rainy weather, we still had the best weekend staying here! The cabin is so cozy with everything we needed, we felt right at home. Being right in the water was fantastic, especially enjoying the view from the hot tub on the colder days. If you're in the area I would highly recommend staying here!

Extremely unique layout and design of house. The house easily accommodated our whole party and the deck, hot tub, River, and kitchens were wonderful. The house is fully stocked with all amenities that other AirBnBs often lack like towels, toiletries, kitchen appliances/basic spice/condiments. The property is densely forested and feels very secluded. Great stay.

April was an awesome communicator. We loved the place. I highly recommend it. The jacuzzi and wildlife watching was wonderful.

The angler's retreat was just what we were looking for. Private, secluded and very peaceful. Jeff & MJ provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay. All we needed to bring was food and clothes. There was even fresh cookies for us to enjoy. Will definitely be visiting again!

Michelle is a fantastic host!!! She is very kind and strives to provide a comfortable and beautiful home for guests to stay in. We really enjoyed having the two separate sides of the cottage, and the overall space was awesome for us. It was nice to have both indoor and outdoor seating. The water is so close, and it’s a great neighborhood to walk in. Thank you for the very enjoyable experience!

Our family took our spring break vacation at this wonderful place! We were able to unplug from the real world and enjoy time together! The location was wonderful! Even though it was cold, we had the game room downstairs and a bunch of board games that were provided by Brenda! The best part was the VHS tapes that our children never had seen before. The kids loved it as much as we did! Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

Enjoyed our stay. Comfortable beds, fully furnished house. Close to town. Just one note, The photos make it look more private than it is although the yard sizes are larger. Just depends on your perspective of private.

William’s cabin was stocked with everything we needed to stay 4 days while working, and playing visiting clients in Traverse City. The location was beyond what we expected and our dogs LOVED playing in the open yard and snow. We would for sure stay here again, thank you!

We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend stay at Matt’s place with our dog. It was exactly the tranquil, comfortable and enjoyable getaway we needed. Beautiful views of the lake. Loved relaxing on the large deck while our dog was able to safely explore, thanks to the fenced in yard. Super clean inside, everything we could need. Our vacation started as soon as we arrived. Great location too as it’s a short drive to several nice parks and trails in Gladwin and the surrounding towns. We highly recommend Matt and his place!

We felt right at home and was the perfect place to take our dogs for their first vacation. Beautiful lakefront and walkable to the local bar/restaurant. Can’t wait to go back.

Best vacation get away ever. This place is perfect for unplugging and enjoying the outdoors. We wanted to extend our time at the river house and hope to make it an annual trek!

A real "Gem" as the name says. We had a very nice time and the host and hostess went above and beyond to make us feel right at home. From check-in to the hugs at check-out, Monica made our stay very enjoyable. We would highly recommend staying at Grem's Gems cottage. We were sad to leave, felt like we were leaving our own family.

Melissa did a nice job and everything was as presented. She provides good communication and instructions were right on. We were golfing at Forest Dunes so the location was perfect. Local restaurants and pizzeria nearby as well as a nice grill for steaks. The place suited our needs perfectly.

The lake house fit all our family members well, lots of space. The air conditioners in all the bedrooms worked great, we loved them! Location is close to all we needed. We loved the shaded yard to play games, great yard.

This a convenient place in town, quiet yet close to Main Street where you can find everything. It was easy to find and get to. Clean, cute, and comfortable.

Robin's place is a great spot for relaxing and spending time on the water. The cottage is very roomy with good sized bedrooms and large living room to hang out and enjoy the views of the lake. We really enjoyed our time there and are planning to come back next year.

Overall great stay. The house had everything you could need and was also super kid friendly. Alex was responsive and provided very detailed information. We were concerned about not having AC and when I said as much Alex offered that they had window units available though there is usually a breeze l, and he was right - we stayed middle of July and opted to not use the AC and both adults and kids slept great. Really enjoyed our stay! The layout of the house was great and the view was beautiful.
