Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Gateshead

We had not been to the area before but were delighted with the accommodation and with Cullercoats. The cottage was stylish and luxurious, ticking all the boxes for a really comfortable bed, great shower, well-equipped, excellent kitchen and everything you needed for a short stay or a longer one. The upstairs ensuite bedroom had a lovely sea view and was really peaceful. The downstairs double room and separate bathroom were practical as we had family visiting. The neighbourhood was quiet and friendly and the location was superb - the cottage was minutes from the beach, a small supermarket and the Metro. You could walk from the door into Whitley Bay or Tynemouth. The beach was excellent and we swam in the sea. The coastal pathway between Whitley Bay and North Shields with its separate cycle lanes will be a wonderful asset and parts of it are already completed. We settled in really well and very quickly and were a bit sad to leave. Thank you to Vikki.

This place was an absolute gem! we loved the location and the house was just amazing. The garden was stunning. Joan was really helpful and friendly! I would definitely like to stay there again.

Had a wonderful stay here. Ideally located (short walk along the river straight into the centre), clean and homely. Patrycja is a friendly and attentive host. Highly recommend staying here and definitely plan on coming back on my next visit to Newcastle!

A delightful cottage that was spotlessly clean and wonderfully fresh, providing a peaceful setting in the countryside, yet only a 15-minute drive from Durham. We loved the charming, spacious cottage with its own private garden. The kitchen had everything we could possibly need, making our stay so easy. The welcome treats were a lovely touch - especially the amazing rocky road, and the fresh eggs and milk were much appreciated. Being on a working farm was brilliant, with fresh produce readily available, and the friendly ginger cat and chickens added real character. Jane, the host, was an absolute star with her excellent communication. We couldn't have asked for a better stay.

We had such an amazing weekend here. The house was a perfect size for our group of 4 adults and 4 children. It was in an ideal location for links to Hexham and Newcastle. This was perfect for us visiting family in both of these places. The kitchen was fully kitted out with everything we needed. Bathrooms had soaps/shampoos included. Kitchen had soap/dishwasher tablets etc. handy to not have to bring everything but the kitchen sink with you for a weekend! We spoke with Dawn a few times over the weekend, and she always responded super quickly, helpfully and friendly. I would highly recommend using this property and I feel like we will use again when we are next back up visiting family!

A lovely cottage to stay in. Easily accessible & lots of shops, bars & restaurants close by. Everything was as stated when we booked the cottage & we were very happy with the accommodation. Anna even left us milk & nibbles for our arrival, which was most appreciated. Family have moved close to the cottage so hopefully if we visit again we will try to book Puddlers Cottage again. A lovely place to stay.

Great accomodation, perfect for short break to see a show at Utilita Arena. Walking distance into the centre of town and walked back from the show at the arena. Lovely view across the river, and great walk along the river to bars and restaurants. Had everything needed in the accommodation and host was responsive and helpful.

Just fabulous!! What a find! Incredibly comfortable, with wonderful extra touches! The chilled Prosecco waiting in the fridge and quality toiletries certainly added to our luxury stay! This private & quiet retreat is in a perfect location to explore the surroundings areas! Highly recommended!

We had a lovely stay at Will & Dawn’s place. They’re very friendly and helpful in providing all the instructions and information we needed ahead of our trip. Our children love playing (and feeding!) their rabbits & hamsters and the indoor heated swimming pool was simply a bonus to have when it’s raining outside. The place was very cosy & clean and it’s a great location to explore Northumberland!

The setting was perfect too—peaceful, charming, and a great base for exploring the area. What really made the experience stand out were the hosts. Super friendly and welcoming, with incredible local knowledge that totally upgraded my trip. From hidden gems to the best spots to eat and explore, their tips made all the difference. Can’t recommend this place enough—already looking forward to coming back!

Great place, easy to get in. Nice pubs and restaurant within 5 mins walking. Lisa was really friendly even when I was late checking out as had not realised the time.

Danielle’s flat was spotlessly clean, comfortable and has all the amenities you need. It’s near to the beautiful Northumberland park and local shops and resturant dare nearby. I would highly recommend a stay and would definitely return.

This a beautiful flat in a lovely area and is great value for money. The flat was spotlessly clean with a much appreciated welcome pack not to mention lots of teas and coffee pods too. Very quiet and peaceful at night. Lots of glorious coastline to walk right from the front door. I definitely want to come back for longer next time!

We stayed in this lovely apartment for a long weekend celebrating with family who live locally. The apartment was perfect, great location, clean, and just want we needed. The hot tub was a complete win with our children. The courtyard is private and a real sun trap. We will be back.

What a fantastic place and host, Hillary was always quick to respond and even allowed us to check in early. the location was great for getting into town walkable or cheap taxi ride.

Jen was very friendly and her place was absolutely lovely. We had privacy and the area was very peaceful and quiet. Jen had a file with recommended restaurants and us being new to the place found it very easy to stay in the area. would definitely recommend Jen's place to everyone. Thank you, Jen!

We throughly enjoyed our stay at Kathryn’s place. She was super helpful and proactive in making sure we had a great stay - and even let us check in early due to an earlier arrival time than planned! The place itself was the perfect size for our stay and was cleaned to a professional standard. It was really clear that there has been a lot of care and detail put into the property! Thank you Lynn for a wonderful 4 days at your apartment. Bringing my mum and dad back to Sunderland after years away has been made so much nicer by having a perfect place to say. Communication has been excellent since the day I booked to the day you met us when we arrived. Seeing my parents smiles when we walked in told me I had made the right choice, you were so welcoming and the views from the living room are amazing, everything was fantastic and your advice on where to go for the football was perfect 👌🏻 Communication has been excellent and it was so good to meet you on our arrival, hopefully we will return in the near future as there are still many places to return to for more reminiscing.

From start to finish I felt really at home at Lisa's place. I know there are comments from Lisa about the location, but actually I found it straightforward to commute into Newcastle city centre on public transport (a bus stop across the street and other options within a 10 minute walk). Even better by car as the motorway is nearby. I found that Lisa had made every effort to make me feel welcome and it was the additional things like providing shower gel, shampoo etc... and milk & bottled water in the fridge was a really nice touch. I would love to stay at Lisa's place again. Thank you.
