A lovely cottage in stunning surroundings - birdsong, cows on the hill, and chickens who greet you every morning! Great facilities, peaceful and restful, and very responsive hosts: when I got too excited by the animals and locked us out, Susan and Howard were immediately on hand to help remotely - despite being on holiday themselves. Which we really appreciated. Catered to our 1y/o very well, and we felt at home. Would love to return. Thanks!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we felt at home from the day we arrived. The cottage was perfect for our extended stay (a month) and we will fondly remember our time in the cottage, Frosterley and the Weardale and North Pennines area. Our hosts were very friendly, laid back and made us feel wonderfully relaxed during our stay. The cottage was warm, comfortable and well appointed and ideal for our needs. We would definitely recommend River View Cottage and the other accommodation in the courtyard to family and friends and we would definitely consider returning in the future for another break.

We absolutely loved our stay. The cottage is extremely homely and cosy while being spacious and surprisingly light. It’s stuffed full of antique furniture, paintings, beautiful artefacts and books which we enjoyed living amongst for the week. We had the absolutely best time exploring the area (which was helped by wall to wall sunshine while we were there.). Four of our six days out were National Trust so do consider joining if you are not already a member. We loved it and could easily have spent another couple of days in the region as we left lots undone!
