The Ferny Fern: Off-grid cabin and sauna near G.M.

Enjoy serene North woods seclusion just two and a half miles from Grand Marais! At the end of a foot path you'll find yourself at this charming off-grid cabin set in the forests of the Lake Superior bluff. This quaint cabin is filled with windows bringing views of the surrounding wood. It features a polished/rustic interior complete with well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and wood stove. Fall River access and guests now have access to a new wood-fired sauna and off grid-shower house.

Riverwood Hideaway

This off-grid, solar powered hideaway is on the Knife River just a few miles outside of Two Harbors, Minnesota. The cabin itself is loaded with comfort. A full kitchen, propane refrigerator, solar powered lights and a gas fireplace/furnace offer the conveniences of home. There is an outhouse and firewood for the outdoor firepit. You will have to bring your own water for drinking, but we provide hand and dish washing water at the sink. We have coffee with pour over utensils, dishes, spices.

Adventures by day: hike, fish or day trip to Grand Marais! The bike trail puts much in reach, jog to Gooseberry, bike to Split Rock, or stroll to Thompson Beach. In the evening the full kitchen is a dream for a foodie, or head fifteen minutes to a brewery. Before bed put up your feet, play a game, read a book, or doze by the fireplace’s heat.

Smart TV, wifi. Books, games Woodstove heats the cabin perfectly in the colder months. All wood provided. There is a minisplit heat/ac unit.

Located 5 minutes from Split Rock Lighthouse, Wild Pines Cabin is a completely renovated 1974 a-frame that sits atop 40 private acres overlooking Lake Superior. During your stay, hike through the property, catch glimpses of wildlife, sip coffee by the fire while taking in the sunrise over the lake, or step out to nearby Gooseberry, Black Beach, or Tettegouche. Lakeside cabin on pristine Diamond Lake in the heart of the Chequamegon National Forest area just outside of Cable, Wisconsin. The Birkebeiner cross country ski trail and scores of other mountain biking, hiking, and snowmobiling trails are close by plus other public recreation opportunities (hunting, snowshoeing, bird watching, etc) abound in the nearby National Forest lands. Several other lakes, including Lake Namekagon and Lake Owen, are nearby for your boating and fishing pleasure.

Visit Bayfield 20 min away or take in the quirky, small-town of Cornucopia and then come home and take a sauna in this peaceful forest! The cabin has an occupancy limit of 2 adults and one dog ($50 pet fee). A SUP board is stored near the beach for guests in summer.
