Vacation rentals with a fireplace in Cape Girardeau

So nice, we stayed twice! I surprised my husband by booking this charming dome as an overnight stop on the way to our anniversary vacation. We loved it so much that we booked it again for our return trip—it ended up being the highlight of our journey! The unique design of the dome added a magical touch to our getaway, perfectly complementing the tranquil surroundings. The host was exceptional—always responsive, answering our questions promptly, and even providing fantastic local recommendations that enriched our stay. Loved everything about this place felt like a place I could call home. They were very nice about everything, instructions was clear and visible to read. Would love to do it again someday.

This was a great place for my wife and I. There are plenty of trails to hike within 20 minutes. One trail basically starts right along the property. Giant City is very close for dinner or many great hikes. There are several wineries in the area and Carbondale is less than 20 minutes away. Having the hot tub outside on the deck was a perfect way for us to unwind with a glass of wine after hiking for the day. There was plenty of privacy. The kitchen had everything we needed. We will keep this place in mind for future travels to this area.

All I wanted for my 46th birthday was 48 hours of relaxation and I got it! Pictures don’t do this place justice. It is beautifully decorated and incredibly cozy. Perfect romantic getaway. We loved the selection of DVDs and really enjoyed being unplugged, aside from not being able to receive weather alerts. We were able to get enough signal to call and check on my kid by driving up the road a bit.

We stayed at Renee’s place for our wedding anniversary. It was peaceful and quiet! Their winery is my favorite on the trail, so I am biased, but I enjoyed sipping on wine in their tasting room by the fireplace. We will definitely stay again!

We had a fantastic stay at the treehouse. It was a great homebase as we explored the hikes and wineries that Southern Illinois has to offer. We loved the location being right near the Panthers Den hike, Blue Sky, and Feather Hills. Many other things were with 15-20 minutes. We were especially grateful to be able to bring our dog. He loves hiking and wineries too. Such a peaceful location surrounded by the trees and creek. This was our third trip to Southern Illinois and would definitely book this place again.

This is a truly magical location that offers a serene atmosphere perfect for relaxation. It's easy to immerse yourself in the beauty of nature right on the property through forest bathing, and it's also conveniently located near state parks, as well as various food and drink options. Bonnie and Paul have created a stunning, private space where I felt completely safe as a solo traveler, knowing they lived nearby. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and hope to return in the future.

Adams Rock cabin was a great home base for our Shawnee trip! The place looks exactly as pictured/described. We appreciated the Native American decor as well as informative books in the cabin. The location is not super remote, but the large yard was perfect for our kids and dog to play and just enjoy being outside. We particularly enjoyed roasting marshmallows around the fire pit! For others traveling with kids, it is worth knowing that the loft bedroom is up a steep ladder without any particularly good way to block the ladder at the bottom or top. The kitchen was equipped with necessities but not a lot of extras. If you’re planning to pack picnic lunches for your hikes, make sure to bring storage containers! Overall, we had a wonderful stay, appreciated all of Mary’s helpful communication, and really enjoyed exploring a new-to-us part of the country!
