Beautiful cabin in the woods

HaydenRating, 5 stars2 months ago
We had a great stay at the Plumtree Cabin, it was nice to journey through the mountains and find ourselves in a private Cabin next to a farm. We were also welcomed by a family of 7 deer each night of our stay. Very affordable and comfortable cabin. Will definitely keep in mind for future travels.

Sky Retreat Cabin #6

JamieRating, 5 stars2 months ago
These cabins are a perfect get a way. The host called prior to our arrival to tell us the pipes were frozen. He already had an alternate plan which worked out even better. He went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. I highly recommend staying here. It’s so peaceful and relaxing and the cabins are cute and quaint. We definitely plan on staying here again.

We had a great time here!! A beautiful little cabin with all the amenities needed for a stay. Very responsive host and friendly. Loved having a private hot tub surrounded by trees to relax in and a great spot to view some stars. We dined for breakfast at Louise’s Famous Rockhouse right down the street and highly highly recommend. Best biscuits ever had! We loved our visit to Newland!

We have never stayed at an Air BNB before. This was a great first experience! We loved staying here for our kids spring break. The boys loved the game room downstairs. It was close to Boone and Blowing Rock and lots to do. The directions were very organized. Lauren checked to see how we were doing. I would definitely recommend!

Kilarney Hideaway - A Romantic Getaway

KristinaRating, 5 stars1 week ago
The hosts, John and Mary, were accommodating, friendly, and responsive. This adorable home gives you the perfect combination of being a quiet getaway in the mountains but still close to areas with a ton to do! You feel like you are in a remote cabin in the woods, but you are able to make quick jaunts to Boone to eat at amazing restaurants or head to Blowing Rock for a hike. My father's 69th birthday celebration was truly special, and we cannot wait to come back for a future visit.

Spacious 3 bedroom house in downtown Boone, NC.

JosieRating, 5 stars2 months ago
Adam and Debra were great hosts - they were extremely flexible and understanding when we were concerned we'd have to cancel our trip due to the snow/roads. Thankfully we were still able to visit Boone for our scheduled weekend, and we had a great time! The house is so close to downtown you could walk there (we didn't, just due to time). They're right across from App Cookie Co (AMAZING cookies and coffee), and the house was amazing. Will definitely book with them again :)

Mountain Cabin-Hot Tub, 1/4 mile off BR Parkway

LanceRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Easy to find location. Home matched the description. The instructions to the AC/heating units was very helpful, and all the amenities were in great shape. It was also really helpful to have the checkout instructions posted on the wall, which made checkout a breeze. The home was also clean upon check-in. Great, secluded and peaceful location near multiple hiking trails. Was perfect for a quick weekend getaway. Just be aware the neighborhood area is not super walkable. No sidewalks or shoulders. But there is so little traffic on the back county roads that safety while walking is not a concern. I walked my dog first thing in the morning, and cars always have us gave room as they passed on the local neighborhood rural roads.

This was my 1st Airbnb experience and it could not have been better. Carl & son were waiting outside @ 8:45pm. Thorough tour & instructions. Very nice people. Clean, private property. Well equipped. Instant hot water. Hot tub, grill, 2 AC units. Everything worked perfectly. I was surprised to find a stocked fridge with eggs, milk, ,bread, various cereals, snacks, peanut butter, jam, several flavors of coffee.A basket full of packets of condiments.

Cozy Sugar Shack in Banner Elk

AshleeRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Such a cute place! It was a perfect stay while dropping my son back off at college after spring break. Place is clean and there are portable heaters available, because it gets cold in the mountains. My son and I enjoyed playing darts. I would’ve loved to stay there a few days, but I was only in town for a short bit. The only thing I didn’t like was having to take the garbage down the road after checkout, but I understand that it’s because of the wild animals. Would definitely stay again, and it’s now on my list for favorite places near Boone.

Pet-Friendly Escape: 5 Miles from Blowing Rock

LizyRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We had a wonderful time at Kristine & Chris's place near Blowing Rock! It's about 5 miles from the town and about a 10 minute drive to Blue Ridge Parkway so we spent a lot of time sightseeing, hiking, and enjoying the mountains. They had a great yard for our pup and had left some dog toys that we threw around to get some good energy out. Our first night, we had dinner in town, then came back and enjoyed the fire and had some wine. The place is in a very quiet little neighborhood with very friendly neighbors and in a great location close to all of the fun spots that area offers. We will definitely be back!

Your guide to Blowing Rock

All About Blowing Rock

Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, the village of Blowing Rock, with its quaint main street, would look at home in a snowglobe. Visitors seeking a getaway in North Carolina’s vaunted High Country region have been flocking to Blowing Rock since just after the Civil War, when several townspeople converted their homes into hotels. Today the town caters to travelers with upscale dining, a small but robust art and history museum celebrating the heritage of Southern Appalachia, and such quirky local attractions as the Tweetsie Railroad amusement park, where you can ride a steam locomotive built in 1917. It is also the only full-service town to be found on the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway, and an ideal base for winter trips to Appalachian Ski Mountain.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Blowing Rock

Temperatures are cool in this high mountain town. May through September, expect temperatures in the low 60s to mid-70 degrees Fahrenheit. October through February, temperatures dip into the 30s and even 20s before rising into the 50s in March and April. If you are here for a ski trip, know that winters can bring snow, sleet, and freezing rains, so pack accordingly.

Top things to do in Blowing Rock

Blowing Rock

The village was named for its most famous local attraction, a distinctive rocky outcropping located high in the Blue Ridge Mountains that juts out 3,000 feet above Johns River Gorge. The walls of the gorge force air past the rock in such a way that light objects are blown upward, which earned the landmark its moniker. Reportedly the state’s oldest tourist attraction, the rock can be accessed via a short trail, affording you uninterrupted views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, which look especially spectacular in fall when the trees erupt in brilliant oranges, golds, and reds.

Blue Ridge Parkway

Often called America’s Favorite Drive, Blue Ridge Parkway is a meandering 469-mile highway that runs along the spine of the Blue Ridge Mountains, slicing through astonishingly beautiful scenery. Start your journey just outside town at the Moses H. Cone Memorial Park, where you can explore a Gilded Age Mansion built by a rich textile entrepreneur, and shop local crafts curated by the Southern Highland Craft Guild. If waterfalls are your thing, there are several nearby that can be accessed from the highway, including the Cascades, a long series of falls accessed by steep wooden steps; Hebron Falls, which courses across massive boulders; and the majestic 60-foot Crabtree Falls.

Appalachian Ski Mountain

Swoosh down your choice of 12 slopes at Appalachian Ski Mountain, or show off your freestyle ski and snowboarding skills at three terrain parks. On Friday and Saturday nights, the park lights up, allowing visitors to stay on the slopes until midnight. You can also strap on a pair of skates and glide around an outdoor ice skating rink. When you need a break, head to the expansive Bavarian-style lodge, where you’ll find a massive fireplace, food and drink, and a large viewing deck. Equipment and clothing rentals are available on site.
