Vacation rentals with a kayak in Ayrshire

The East Wing of Islay House was very spacious and comfy. It was clean and tidy and did not lack any amenities. Sandra provided firewood for the fireplace and plenty of local information. The village of Pencaitland is quiet an peaceful with a shop/petrol station within walking distance and lots of short walks. There were lots of longer walks within 12-30 mins, including those in Edinburgh. Even better if: queen or king bed instead of double bed, description and external photos more accurately reflect that the accommodation is part of a larger house, and it is made clear whether or not both sets of gates can be shut to provide a full secured outside space for dogs. Overall we were very happy with our stay and would recommend :).

Thank you for allowing us to stay in your lovely home. It was a short walk to the play park and beach. House was as described. Kids enjoyed trying out the games and attempting to play chess. A lovely attentive host.

Great house in a beautiful location. The size of the rooms was perfect for our group. The hot tub was ready for us arriving and the fridge was generously stocked with complimentary drinks! The hosts were very prompt and helpful with their responses to our messages. Thank you for a great weekend!

Our stay was just the best. The location was beautiful, peaceful and quiet with its own loch and kayaks which the children loved. It was also close by to local amenities and many places to visit nearby. The house was so spacious and comfortable. The kitchen was very well stocked and Theresa had very kindly left us some groceries, a very welcome addition. Pets were also welcomed and it was a great place for dogs to run around in. We would not hesitate to recommend Theresa’s house as it had everything and more that we were looking for.

It felt like we stayed at a friend's house and he went out of his way to make us feel welcome. Thank you!

Our experience at this property in Scotland was wonderful from start to finish. The booking process was straightforward, and our reservation was confirmed almost immediately, making everything effortless. Arriving at the property, however, turned into quite an adventure. We arrived in the evening amid heavy rain, with visibility low, and had to navigate a few remaining potholes along the way (though most had been filled in). Thankfully, we managed to find the key safe, unload our luggage, and settle in for the night. The next morning was a completely different scene. We woke up to clear skies and stunning views across the bay from both the bedroom and the lounge—it was breathtaking. Our first instinct was to get dressed and head straight to the beach for a morning walk, which was the perfect way to start the day. Inside, the house is beautifully decorated and immaculately clean, with attention to detail everywhere. Premium shower gels were stocked in the bathrooms—a thoughtful touch

This place was incredible! The view from the house is stunning and ever changing looking out on to the loch and mountains. We saw Deer on the front, snow on the mountains, and swam in the loch most days (in February!❄️) then came back to the amazing hot shower! we used the kayaks which were fun too! The house is lovely and warm considering it’s so open plan. It was beautiful! Highly recommend!

Our family of 5 had an amazing time here. Easy walk to the beach (generally quiet) and had fun with the kayak. Lovely views of the sea and the sunsets from the loft bedroom. Stuart was very helpful and friendly as a host.

No pictures or reviews do this place justice!We have been to the estate twice now and it’s our favourite place to visit when we need to recharge. It’s great for the dogs, private beach, clear water, hikes at the back of the cottage , lots of wildlife, beautiful cottage. Views are out of this world. It’s worth every penny. Facilities are amazing especially in point cottage with the aga stove. We cooked many amazing meals. It’s the most relaxing place we have been regardless of the weather, and it’s beautiful all year round. Hosts were amazing and got back in contact straight away. Can’t wait to make another trip soon!

Yasmin’s place is lovely. She and her family are wonderful hosts, making you feel totally at home, providing local knowledge, baking, tea and biscuits and showing a keen interest in you and ensuring you have a lovely holiday. A truly wonderful stay in one of the most beautiful properties Ive ever had the pleasure of staying at. The house is spotless and much bigger than what the photos show which is great as we were a large group. There was ample parking for 3 small cars which was a big relief over Easter as the town got very busy with walkers. Kitchen was full of everything we needed for the three days we stayed, albeit we were not brave enough to tackle the aga! The standout from the weekend though was Grahams hosting. A bit of a cult hero in our group now. Always responsive, informative and very resourceful, even going out of his way to source more parking options and check on life jacket sizes. Thanks Graham for making it a wonderful stay, we will be back!

Peaceful, cosy cottage in a beautiful area - just what we were after for our new year’s getaway. Everything we needed was provided, and Chris’s helpful instructions made it easy to locate. Plenty of parking for our small car. The cottage is really clean and there’s plenty of supplies, as well as local shop very close by. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area!

We had a fab time at Joanna’s place. The cottage was cosy, beautiful views and had everything we needed. Corrie is a lovely village, loved Mara Seafood bar in particular. Joanna was really quick to respond and was a great host.

Sarah & Pete have been such friendly and gracious hosts with excellent attention to detail in this beautiful and picturesque cottage. Even better than the pictures and it has been kept in such immaculate condition. It's also modern in all the right places while maintaining the gorgeous cottage charm we were after. Cosiest weekend away and with so much to explore in the surrounding areas. Highly recommend!

Lovely lodge, beautiful surroundings. Our children (age 4 and 7) really enjoyed the hot tub. Going out on the boat was beautiful - request buoyancy vests in advance. House clean and comfortable. Well equipped for cooking.

An amazing stay for our Easter weekend getaway! The location is beautiful, waking up overlooking the lake was a daily high. The cabin was extremely spacious and clean - the photos for us didn’t quite do it justice - and the hot tub is well maintained. The only minor things I would comment on would be that the welcome pack is very basic for a 5* stay and that the hot tub maintenance gentleman came to empty the hot tub an hour before check-out on our last day, coming onto the cabin decking without notice. But overall, amazing stay, we’d do it again!

Absolutely loved our stay here. Pictures do not do this place justice, easily one of the nicest if not the nicest AirBnb I’ve ever stayed in. Great amenities for 4 adults and a big big hot tub! It was so peaceful being able to look out of the windows / decking and watch the wildlife too. Can’t wait to revisit, thankyou!

an incredible few nights away at The Tranquil Otter for my partners birthday. From booking to checking out, we were left fully satisfied. clean, accessible and in a lovely location with access to a private row boat to explore the lake. We will definitely be recommending this place to all our friends and family. thank you for the perfect stay!

We had a lovely, relaxing time. Hot tub and sunken bath was a lovely touch 😌 😍 only downside was the hot tub in our cabin wasn't very private... a fence up blocking from the car park would be a nice touch 👌
