Yurt vacation rentals in Shenandoah Valley

The location was in a peaceful setting along the river bank. I needed a break in between semesters for grad school and this was exactly what I needed. My yurt was fairly close to the road, so I could hear traffic as it went by, but later at night it wasn’t bad. This place had everything needed for a weekend getaway. I made reservations the night before after making last minute plans. I would definitely make plans to stay again if I come back to the area and would recommend for anyone looking for a weekend getaway along the river.

Really pleasant stay just outside of downtown Luray. Annette was responsive to my initial questions and the setting was really pretty along the river.

Our stay at Experience Learning was great. Drive in - easy for I believe a couple reasons: 1) the video the host sent to us, and 2) having an offline map of the area. The last few miles were gravelly. Power outage - upon arrival 3pm (bathroom was fully functional). Outage had little impact: 1) no access to wifi (no cell service in the area at all) (also wifi does not reach the yurt), and 2) cooked our dinner in dim lighting (not even an issue as Annie the kitchen aid was helpful to show us around). Yurt - as expected from listing. We were the only AirBnb guests that night, so Jackie the host allowed us to choose any yurts - decided to stay w/ the original booking. This yurt was the warmest of the 3 we saw since it has little tree coverage and is insulated. The yurt stayed warm and cooled off late night, esp after light rain. The bed was uncomfortable for us but fine for one night. Bathroom - as expected: clean but bring your own towels and amenities. Overall, would recommended staying.

Great place, amazing location, truly historical, and fun. Simple. You get beds, a historic design, and everything you need within walking distance. Don’t look for cable or air conditioning, look for serious time with time with your partner in front of a fire and a great time biking, hiking, rafting and chilling. Wild location. Bars, food, forests and rivers. Actually, don’t go there, I will.

This is our 2nd time at Annette’s yurts. We enjoyed our stay in the peaceful, beautiful environment!

Erika’s three story yurt was exactly as pictured - charming and creative! It worked well as a home base for our family while we were in town for a graduation. We look forward to returning when we have more time to hike some nearby trails and relax out on the deck with coffee.

This stay was exactly as described! It was an absolutely beautiful location on the river, with a VERY comfortable yurt and space for us to add some tent camping outside of it. Annette also helped us use their kayak, canoe and tube for a reasonable price without any hassle. No complaints!

Very well maintained and amazing property. Plenary of activities to keep kids occupied. It was unfortunate that we couldn’t do much outdoor activities as it rained through your the day during our stay. Would love to go again and again.

It was amazing, hope to go again in the future. Everyone had a wonderful time :) We had easy access to fish everyday and enjoyed “glamping”, great for those who are able to do real camping but still have a similar experience.

Wonderful family getaway! Close to the pool and other amenities. Place was clean and exactly as advertised.

We had a great time staying at Martha’s yurt! It felt both cozy and spacious and gave us a real respite in nature. We woke up to the sound of the birds and the stream behind us. It was peaceful and secluded, but only a quick drive into downtown Staunton, with lots of shops and great restaurants. Martha was very responsive and hospitable and shared great recommendations.

Chris was very helpful and responsive, and proactively reached out to offer local recommendations. The resort staff was incredibly nice and responsive, and the yurt was spacious and clean. It was a short drive to Gordonsville for restaurants, and a slightly longer but convenient and manageable drive to Charlottesville. I’d strongly suggest BBQ exchange and Well Hung winery restaurant in Gordonsville, and Barboursville Winery was incredible.

The yurt was unique and fun to stay in - very well designed. Everything inside was quality and had really good lighting from both the skylight and the surrounding windows. I especially enjoyed the sauna which was one of the best ones I've used in an AirBnB. It heated up very well an you could pour water on the stones to steam it. They also conveniently have another door so you don't have to walk to far to access it in the winter. The shower was cool too and great for a couple. My only gripe is that should have provided a third chair for the dining table.

My family stayed at this beautiful yurt over Mother’s Day weekend and it was the best airbnb experience yet! The home itself is an experience to remember, not to mention the proximity to all that Massanutten has to offer. We hope to go back regularly to re-experience the relaxation and beauty of this property. Our kids loved every minute of it and the owners clearly thought deeply about every detail of the visitors experience. If there was an option for six stars, we’d give it!

Terri Jo was a wonderful host!!! We absolutely loved our stay in the yurt! It was the perfect mix of comfort and nature. We spent our days hiking, relaxing, and enjoying quiet time together. A peaceful getaway — we can’t wait to come back!

Had a relaxing weekend at the owl house with our kids, who absolutely loved the place. It was a snowy weekend and the area was very fun to explore that way. The yurt was a neat and unique place to stay and was well appointed with all we needed for our short stay.

Great spot off of the Shenandoah River! We were able to rent a kayak from Annette and easily access the river right from the camp site. The amenities are great, especially the on site firewood and fire pit. There are other yurts on the site, but everyone was respectful and kept quiet after 9pm

We had such a great time at Sarah’s Yurt. The noise from the road is definitely loud but she provided ear plugs to combat that which was much appreciated! Would definitely stay here again!

We were 2 couples looking to get away for some hiking and relaxation. We found the cabin to be very cozy, ~25 minutes to a moderate hiking trail and a cool farm brewery. We enjoyed the deck for morning coffee, listening to the birds and watching the deer wander thru the wooded lot. We didn't use the inside fireplace, but took advantage of the outdoor fire pit and grill. Loved the mid century modern motif and record player. The game room was really awesome with the lighting and fun games!

A little slice of Heaven in the woods! This is the cutest and most eclectic place we have even stayed in! The yurt was so beautifully and thoughtfully decorated! The small touches were amazing. The welcome sign and the welcome basket of snacks was so much appreciated and well used! The “In case you forgot something “ basket in the bathroom was such a great help because, I forgot the toothpaste and my deodorant so I was able to use those from the basket! The jacuzzi tub was so nice to soak in and we did every night! Loved the rain shower!! I just cannot say enough about how much I loved the vibe of the Yurt! 🛖 It’s like Farmhouse/Boho Modern/ and Eclectic! Being right on the creek was so amazing! Listening to the sound of the rushing water at night was so relaxing! We sat on the porch every night after cooking and it was just so peaceful! The hosts were so very helpful and accommodating when it rained and we lost power offering a generator! Great comm. and such a great stay! 10 stars
