Barn vacation rentals in Shenandoah Valley

My wife and I loved this spot! It was private, peaceful, and located close to several good hiking trails, restaurants, and wineries. Not to mention, only about 20 mins from downtown Charlottesville. There was a guestbook that provided ideas on things to do and places to see, but on top of this— Lynn also chimed in and provided specific places we could visit with our dog. We definitely recommend staying with Lynn, and will for sure we back!

We throughly enjoyed our stay in the Barn Loft. Andrea and Steve are gracious hosts. Prior to our arrival, we received information to prepare for our stay. We received timely communication on the date of our arrival. The property is even better than the pictures display. We truly felt welcome and at home. The furnishings are cozy and the beds are so comfortable. Our family enjoyed meeting the hosts, exploring the property, and the opportunity to rest and to relax in such a beautiful scenic area. We appreciated the fact that our dog could accompany us on this trip. Thank you for sharing your home with us. We look forward to returning.

The Galleywinter farm offered an experience we will never forget. Overall, the accommodations were comfortable with the surrounding farm peaceful and serene.

This was the perfect place to relax and and unwind after an eventful day of commencement at Liberty University. My family and I loved all aspects of this amazingly-renovated barn. The property was absolutely stunning! So much to explore. We hope to come back for a longer stay in the future. Thank you Nicole for being a great host!

This is just someone opening their home, it is someone who loves to host; and it shows! Not only was the view incredible but the place felt like a home. From the little details (the “I forgot it at home” box, plenty of pool and bathroom towels, shampoo/conditioner/bodywash, having freshly ground coffee/sugar/sweetener, having spices and any kitchen utensils you could need, and even a heart keychain on the door and my name on the chalkboard). The bed was so comfortable and the shower pressure was amazing. The pool was great (although the weather was a little too cold for us to enjoy it fully)! The ceiling upstairs on one side of the bed was a little low but it was fine and worth it for a king bed. Every uber driver we had didn’t mind waiting for us as he just looked at the view. Would definitely stay here again!

We truly enjoyed our weekend at "Idyllic Mountain Home - Dog Friendly/great views"! It was all of that and more! Charlotte provided detailed info on how to run the wood stove (early March can get chilly) and we were warm and cozy on both levels all weekend. Other info about the house was very detailed. Our two corgis loved wandering around the property, which is elevated and very private! We took a hike with them on Saturday off of Skyline Drive, which was only about a half hour away; lovely! Dinner Saturday night was a milestone birthday celebration at The Inn at Little Washington, and it was worth the splurge! There's a small area near the bedroom where we set up the dogs crates and they were very comfy while we were gone. I highly recommend Charlotte's home for a weekend getaway!!

We had a wonderful stay at this home. The location is stunning, the farm manager is very friendly and knowledgeable, and the cows were so fun! We will definitely consider a return visit!

This is hands down my favorite airbnb rental ever. It's also the only one I've ever returned to. We so enjoyed our time in Rapidan! We brought pretty much all our food, so i only left the property once in 5 days. Heaven!! (though the rooster was quite talkative, the cows went serenely on their way!)

My stay at this house was wonderful. Gorgeous farmland and forests surrounding the home. I loved seeing the cows from my bed in the morning! I was in the area to go birding and kayaking and the proximity to Lake Moomaw and the trails was perfect. The space itself was very clean and very comfortable. I especially love the garage for style window in the living room. I would absolutely stay again.

We had a lovely stay at Wyatt's Barn! You can tell Wyatt put a lot of effort into creating a functional and very inviting space. The room and the bathroom felt much bigger than the pictures! The bed was very comfortable, and the linens were impeccable and soft. Plush and pretty towels. We loved everything about our stay and the peace that came with it. Waking up to the beautiful, lush forest was just what we needed after the days of the hustle and bustle of our daughter's graduation!

What a fabulous place to stay. We rented all three places for our large family and everything was just perfect. From the spacious accommodations to the thoughtful details ensuring we had everything we needed! This location was very convenient to Lexington and the nearby attractions! The owners made sure it was spotless and the beds were so comfortable! The kitchen was well equipped and the washers and dryers were a wonderful bonus!! We enjoyed the fire-pit in the evenings with our wine! Thanks again for everything, we will definitely be back!!

We had the most wonderful holiday weekend at the Silo House! First, the house itself was so comfortable and had everything you could need - including plenty of towels and kitchen supplies. Second, the swimming pond was magical - with all the frogs and newts swimming around, and perfect for an afternoon dip. The hiking trails and island were so beautiful and peaceful, the kayaks were such a nice amenity and we used them on the lake every day, and the farm store and game room were such a nice extra touch (including the treehouse for the kids and homemade ice cream sandwiches). Not to mention Ashleigh and Michael were so responsive and accommodating. We will definitely be back!

This was a sweet spot near the park and walking distance to coffee shops and restaurants! We had two outdoor areas of sitting to read with plenty of privacy. I was a great stay!

Loved this air bnb, one of my favorites. It’s a quiet place. Nice farm setting. You feel safe on the property. Clean and nice comfortable bed. Allows pets, which is a must for me. A few downsides. There’s a flight of stairs getting up to the living area. So if you have a lot of luggage, it makes it difficult. The pathway is also gravel, so pulling a cart behind to the entrance can also take some effort. Other than that, no big issues. Again, one of my favorite places!!

Went with my friend and we found the place very comfortable. The kitchen is very nicely stocked! We brought food so that we could prepare most meals and the kitchen had more than we could ever need by way of kitchen gear! There was also a full stash of coffee, cream, honey and sugar! The location is great. We went to the White's Ferry Brewery that was just down the street and thoroughly enjoyed it! I would strongly recommend a visit. We also walked around the neighborhood to include down to the Potomac! Very nice! We took a day trip to Harper's Ferry (45-min drive) and of course to the little downtown area of Leesburg (7-min drive)! Rita was super responsive and brough us batteries quickly when requested for the remote and a container of eggs from the chickens! The beds are comfortable. I did sleep on the sleeper sofa and while it isn't a typical bed, it was fairly comfortable. Having the animals just below us was really sweet! Loved them all! Enjoyed our visit very much!

This place is pure bliss. I rented it for a girls weekend and we loved everything about this beautiful and unique space. We spent the evening enjoying the clear night sky at the fire pit, brunch in Middleburg and dinner in Marshall. Beautiful linens, bathrooms and comfortable beds. This place is SPECIAL. Thank you- we’ll be back.

This is a lovely barn apartment, about ten minutes from the Virginia Horse Center. It's easy to find, clean, and lovely. The bed is amazingly comfortable, the space is sunny and well decorated, and there is a great fire pit just outside. Having a washer/dryer was an extra plus!

My fiancé and I stayed at Martha's barn with our dog for a nearby wedding and had the most wonderful weekend. The Barn is spectacular - this is probably our favorite AirBnB ever! It has been renovated but maintains much of the original wood and beautiful features of the old structure. While a relatively small space, it has been so thoughtfully designed that it never felt cramped and would have comfortably fit more people. Martha stocked the Barn with snacks, beverages, eggs, toiletries - really anything you could think of - and gave plenty of recommendations for outdoor adventures, restaurants, and more. She is truly the most gracious host. The property itself is also stunning. Our dog loved walking along the trails and just soaking up the outdoors. We hope to return and bring our families to see and stay at Martha's gorgeous and relaxing place!

Cottage in the Plains was terrific! Emily communicated well and made things simple. We loved the beautiful scenery and surroundings of Virginia horse country. Everything was so peaceful! We had a 4-day event in Middleburg and this location was perfect to save time and money compared to those who stayed in local hotels. Plus, the four of us were able to spend causal time together that we wouldn't have in a hotel. Middleburg is very quaint with a nice diversity of shops and restaurants. I highly recommend Cottage in the Plains!

What a great location! Very beautiful and serene, yet close to 81, markets, etc. There are no windows or natural light in the living space, so we just spent all our time sitting at the bar at the window - and what a view!! It changes all day long, as the sun shifts across the sky, and the horses are like jewels on the landscape. We sat outside late at night and enjoyed the stars and fireflies. The space was very clean and comfortable, John was available and welcoming, We're very glad to have stayed at his home.

Such a beautiful place! Feels like a privilege to stay at such a charming old house. Very comfortable, great amenities including a well-stocked, modern kitchen, and wonderful porches. Don't miss the clawfoot tub, too. Shelly is extremely responsive and friendly, very flexible and accommodating for us. She's great! There are neighboring houses but they are quiet, it's quite a peaceful spot. And the grounds are gorgeous. Highest recommendation!

The loft has a view of the garden with a black cat 🐈‍⬛️ on the fence. I enjoyed the natural surroundings and listening to the birds singing as the sun came up.

We had a wonderful stay at this tranquil retreat. Michael and Jennifer were excellent hosts: highly communicative, clear in expectations, and the home was super hospitable. Everything is tastefully decorated, the amenities in the home are more than expected (e.g. the snack basket in the kitchen), and the location is superior. We enjoyed walking on the private road directly adjacent to the property, sitting on the patio with wine or breakfast and looking at the picturesque landscape - including vineyards and cows, and touring the adorable town and surrounding vineyards. We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone coming to the area.

Another great stay at Seaton Hall. Such a beautiful farm and wonderful hosts. Our family loves to relax and enjoy the peaceful cottage, fishing and farm animals. We'll be back again next year.
