Places to stay in Ranchos de Taos
Cute, cozy and compact cottage that has all you need--queen bed + queen mattress in the loft, a private patio with stunning views and the quiet of a country setting at Los Pajaritos. If you are 5'11 or taller the loft may not be for you. Like so much of Taos, you will need a car to get here. PLEASE USE MY DIRECTIONS to find us. During the pandemic we will entertain long term guests though there will be a 72 hour gap between guests.
Our light filled Country Cottage is a stone's throw from our house -- Los Pajaritos -- and sports a sleeping loft with a queen sized mattress and a separate bedroom with a queen sized bed. One bath with shower, + a sunny living/dining room wrapped in glass and with views of Taos Mountain and Picuris Mountain complete the picture. In terms of the setting, we are a short hop into town, but like a recent guest said, the coyotes visit daily--the other day they spotted the magpies chasing one. And our outdoor cats come over to visit even though they are not allowed in. To cut the edge of the summer, we do have A/C. Your own beautiful and private outdoor patio let you relish and drink in the big Taos skies by day or warm by a fire in the outdoor fire pit and watch the stars at night. Sunrises and sunsets are yours to enjoy and come nightfall, all those stars look close enough to pick out of the sky. A short stroll across the field you can enjoy wine and hor'd oeuvres at a picnic table. If you stay with us please use the directions provided; do not attempt to find us via mapquest or a smartphone. And if you are a light sleeper and sleep late we have earplugs - our rooster is an early bird.
A quiet country neighbourhood on the edge of Taos and Ranchos de Taos with big, wide-open views of the mountains all around. The Acequia del Rio Chiquito runs by and in summer evenings you will hear the splash of water on its way down to the fields to the west.
  • Perfectly set up to cook or grill. Lot's of pots, pans and plates. There is a nice outdoor fireplace stocked with wood as well. The master bedroom is cozy and enough space for 2. The loft area has a very short ceiling and probably best for kids to sleep. There were many nice touches to the cottage. It was a great value and a joy to stay in.

  • Sanjay’s home was absolutely great! My husband and I take a yearly anniversary trip and this home was just perfect a cozy for the both of us!

    Emily2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • It's bright and warm with great 270-degree mountain views during the day and it's quiet and dark during the night as an excellent city getaway. Sanjay is very accommodating. I enjoyed my stay and would like to come back again.

Very quiet. Enjoy your coffee and/or cocktail on the portal enchanted by the scenery and the lush gardens. Minimal light pollution at night. Ideal spot for star watching in the hot tub. Easy to find on the south side of Taos, 2 blocks east of Paseo del Pueblo Sur, I block south of the Canon Bypass leading to Angel Fire. 3 minutes from Sagebrush Inn and 5 Star burgers, 5-10 minutes from Taos Inn and Taos Plaza, depending on traffic. 5 minutes north of the Ranchos church and Old Martina's Hall.
  • We stayed at John's place when all of this weird Covid-19 stuff started going down. We decided to cut our trip short since the ski valley closed down while we were there. John was incredibly understanding and kind during our whole experience. Aside from the Covid-19 situation, the house was just as described and having John around to chat with and to ask questions about local places to check out was super helpful. If anyone is worried about staying in a house with the host there, don't worry about it! John was incredibly considerate and accomodating. The hot tub was a huge plus as well!

    Rebecca2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • John's place was great to crash at (and even get some work done - I had to work remotely for a part of a day) for a stay in Taos. John is remarkably kind and a great host. Due to traffic coming down from Denver, I was a bit later than anticipated. He gave a great recommendation for where to eat in town and stayed up to show me around, which I was grateful for. John's place is a little south of center of town, about a 5-minute drive. It's nice and quiet though, which is great! Thanks John.

    Kate2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Centrally located, and oh that hot tub!! Very comfy bed too!

    Suzanne2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable place with lots of interesting books to check out. The hot tub was a nice plus after a long day of travel. Would definitely stay here again.

    Josh2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • John was a great host and the room was very comfortable. He also provided tons of recommendations.

    Noah2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • There's really nothing to add to John's already stellar reviews. If you are okay with sharing a bathroom and kitchen, John's place will be great for you. On my stay of seven days, John was away on a trip for the first four days. Entry into his house was very easy. John is a great communicator and a very pleasant and easy-going host. I did not utilize (as so many others have) any of his knowledge of the area or recommendations for things to do, as I was just there to ski for a week so my dance card was full. The skiing at Taos is great and unique, if you haven't experienced it and if you are a proficient enough skier to enjoy it. Highly recommend the "Taos Ski Week," if you're going to Taos to ski--awesome experience!

    Mark2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • John has a very lovely spot in Taos, with beautiful views of the mountains and plains from the hot tub. We'll be back, it's just a matter of time!

    Wallace2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • John has been a great host. He has made me feel like home. It has been my first experience in Airbnb and it has been beyond awesome. I highly recommend John if you want to visit Taos or skiing at Taos Ski Valley.

  • I enjoyed my stay with Robert! He was a wonderful host and make sure we had everything we needed. The place was very clean and had a beautiful view!

    Haley2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • The sunset was amazing from the view of the porch! Worth it for that alone!

    Alicia2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Incredibly lovely and warm oasis

    Jane2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Robert's place is conveniently located close to Taos plaza and not far from Taos Ski Valley. Though it was chilly and rainy outside, the unit was warm and there were plenty of blankets. Although I didn't personally meet Robert, he called me around check-in time to make sure I understood how to get into the unit and to ask if I had any questions about getting around Taos.

    Rhea2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The place was exactly as advertised, great location every point of interest in Taos is less than 15 minutes away. On the final day we had limited hot water (which wasn't an issue) However Robert offered to cover a day at the local spa for us to freshen up. Overall 10/10 experience and look forward to coming back.

  • Beautiful cozy Adobe in Taos. We stayed in the coldest time of winter and even with the heat it’s a little chilly waking up in the morning but it’s just part of the Adobe way :) would absolutely stay again. Appreciated the beautiful view and close proximity to town.

    Sarah2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was better than expected. Robert has such a cute space and was perfect for my final evening in New Mexico. Would definitely stay again!

    Julie2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome Airbnb in a quiet area, was a bit hard to find at night but would definitley stay here again. Robert even brought us some snacks for our ski party!

Just a couple miles from the center of Taos, our cozy casita can accommodate a couple comfortably. A futon makes it easy to add one or two children. Space includes: one bedroom, living room w/kiva, small kitchen, bathroom, 2 TVs & use of on premises hot tub. Incredible sunset views!
Having moved from New England, the casita is decorated with a smattering of early American antiques giving it a very comfortable feel. The lighting is amazing with a southern exposure bringing warmth into the main living space. Western views from both the living room and bedroom offer a nightly view of Taos' spectacular sunsets.
Our neighborhood is comprised of about 50% residents and 50% second homes the owners of which are all wonderful. It is very quiet bordering a very large arroyo offering interesting walks along the upper edge and through the bottom. A short walk will take you to the access of the Southern Boundary hiking trail in the foothills of the Sangre de Christo range.
  • We planned our trip to Taos right in the middle of the COVID-19 crisis, so we were unsure if we would even have fun! Leo’s adorable casita was just what we needed to unwind and enjoy ourselves. The casita has everything you could need and was very clean and organized. Leo’s personal artwork adorns the entire space and we had fun admiring her work. There is a private patio with an outdoor chimenea and beautiful mountain views all around, as well as a shared hot tub that was sparkling clean. Leo was a wonderful host and even left some groceries for us in the fridge! The neighborhood was fun to walk around and explore, and there is a neat walking trail attached. The town of Taos is a short drive, with lots to do! Several ski resorts are within 20-30 minute drives, including Taos, Angelfire and Sipapu. We would definitely recommend booking this adorable casita and we hope to make it back soon!! The Rooney Family (Tulsa, OK)

  • Perfect getaway spot- stylish, clean, quiet, every amenity you might need!

    Natalie2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great visit! The space was exactly as described, and we loved being able to use the hot tub after a long day of skiing/snowboarding. Jay even offered to take my boyfriend out on the slopes! There was plenty of space for us, our 8 year old, and 11 month old. We'd definitely book here again. Thanks Leo. :)

    Jenny2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely night at Leolyn’s place. The space is perfect for two and the hot tub was a nice touch. We would definitely stay again if we come back to Taos!

    Ashley2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing as always! I will definitely be back

    Alexander2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay! It was very peaceful and relaxing.

    Emily2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • The casita was the perfect size for my husband, myself, and our dog. It was about 35 minutes to the ski valley, and the hot tub was amazing after skiing! We loved being able to bring our dog with us, and there were plenty of walking trails around to take her on. Would definitely stay here again on our next ski trip!

    Erin2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Desert Retreat Taos in the winter for non-skiers might seem an odd choice of destination. Yes, it can be quite chilly. Yes, it snows. But Leolyn’s lovely casita provided us a perfect retreat, full of natural beauty and restful quiet. Leolyn is an attentive and non-intrusive host, a gifted artist (the space shows it) and a delightful person. This was our second visit, and we were just as thrilled as the first time. We did visit some museums and galleries, found great coffee, ate our share of red and green sauce, used the well-appointed kitchen for some food prep, did a couple nearby excursions, marveled at the nightly sunsets, enjoyed the hot tub and the fireplace. Mostly we relaxed, rested and renewed. A perfect retreat week indeed.

Our rustic little cabin is located in a small residential neighborhood 4.5 miles outside of the town of Taos (10-15 minute drive)--off the beaten track, but still on the outskirts of town. The cabin is a charming one room structure including a full bed and single (twin) sleep sofa, dining area, kitchenette, and full bathroom with stall shower. As a writer's or artist's retreat, you may be inspired by the sweeping mountain views, the light and the sheer magic of the area.
The cabin, a pebble's toss from our own small house, was originally a Ute Valley Park, Colorado, summer camp cabin, moved here about twenty-five years ago. Sunrises and sunsets are daily marvels, and at night the stars shine bright. The romance of the area has been enough to have inspired guests to elope while here or to become engaged! Visiting the nearby yet remote Ponce de Leon Hot Springs is a must. The hot springs are a 1.5 mile drive and then a short hike away. It is a peaceful, quiet, remarkably private outdoor place. Our guests have told us that this off the beaten track destination was the highlight of their trip to Taos (and it is a sacred place so remember to be respectful if you visit). There are biking, hiking and walking trails nearby, also within reasonable distance to the Ski Valley, the little mountain villages in the Picuris mountain range (the High Road to Santa Fe), and the Rio Grande. The beautiful San Francisco de Asis Church, an old and impressive adobe Mission building, is not to be missed, and it's just a mile down the road in the Ranchos Plaza, which has shops and restaurants, including our own Two Graces Plaza Gallery, full of art, books and curios of the Southwest. The town of Taos has museums, galleries, shops, and lots of great places to eat.
Llano Quemado is an old residential neighborhood outside of and to the south of Taos. We have big, wide-open views of the mountains all around. The Acequia Llano Quemado runs a few feet from the cabin on its way to water the fields of the community. The little farm right next door raises sheep and goats, and there are dogs, cats, chickens, and horses, too. Even Georgia O'Keeffe found found this neighborhood charming--she was a frequent overnight guest of one of our neighbors!
  • Had a wonderful and peaceful time!! Great getaway!

    Sasha2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is too cute for words! The views are absolutely stunning and Holly was super communicative and hospitable during our stay. The home was cozy and had everything we could need. Close to Taos proper as well, the value for this place truly can't be beat!

    Christina2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Cute cabin, they've put together a book of local places and directions that was super helpful. Thanks for everything!

    Russ2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • A totally lovely, charming, restful place with everything one needs - lovingly attended too.

    Regina2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful spot. Unique cabin. Had everything we could have wanted. Highly recommend!

    Claudia2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • This little cabin was my personal heaven. It has such a warmth to it and I loved all the wood and unique decor! Holly and Robert could not have been sweeter (one of these lovely people scraped ice and snow off my car before I even woke up!), and I had a beautiful morning hike up to the hot springs among many other things. It was a gorgeous experience in a gorgeous place. If you’re seeking peace and beauty this place will be a salve for the soul.

    Jenni2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Cute cabin near a fantastic hot spring we were lucky enough to have all to ourselves 2 mornings in a row.

    Luke2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • The Cabin on the Hot Springs Road is lovely, comfortable and charming. The hosts, Robert and Holly, are artists, have a knack for decorating, and a gallery in downtown Taos. They welcomed me in person right away, and were very responsive to my questions and needs. Highly recommended.

The Taos Cool Bus (Tilly) used to deliver ice cream treats all over Taos. She was a popular fixture among kids of all ages. Sadly, Tilly had to retire in 2013. It is with great joy then, that Tilly has "reincarnated" as a unique Airbnb rental. 100% off-grid, she is powered by solar and wood. She even has a portable flush toilet! Tilly's resting place boasts amazing sunset views and tons of tranquility for guests who want to have an authentic, off-grid, Taos hippy experience.
Tilly is an authentic, converted hippy bus. There is no electricity but she comes with a solar phone/laptop charger, solar-powered lights, an outdoor grill and charcoals for cooking. Inside there's a woodstove (with a hot water reservoir) for warmth and cooking. The "bathroom" is outside and consists of a private, enclosed, portable toilet and a solar shower (if you aren't familiar with a solar shower, please look it up so that you understand their limits). Your experience in the bus is more like camping than staying in a motel and we've priced it accordingly--less expensive than many campgrounds but with more privacy and amenities. Plus, there's no set-up to do, it's in a beautiful setting, is very cozy, and the sunsets and views are amazing!
Tilly is located within walking distance of a post office, the historic Ranchos Church and the historic Ranchos Plaza. Also within walking distance (1/2 mile) are the Ranchos Grill, Oh My Garden restaurant, Old Martina's Hall bar and restaurant and a few galleries.
  • This place is sooo cute. I will definitely be coming back. Perfect little spot to enjoy nature. The host Kelly is very attentive to your needs. Checking in and out was so simple.

    Jennifer2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • The value for this unique experience can't be beat. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Tilly, as it had been unlike any other place I have stayed before. Tilly was exactly as I had expected and in a nice, quiet location. Thank you to Kelly for allowing me to add Tilly to my first New Mexico experience!

    Shane2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • A fun and funky place to stay! Nice views, very cozy and totally unique!

    Nancy2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing! If you are looking for the hippie experience, Tilly the bus is the way to do it. Great location just t the south of Taos and the drive into town is absolutely gorgeous with the mountains in the backdrop. Kelly was great to provide us with everything that we could possibly need. Even setting us up with firewood in the wood stove in the bus. Thanks again!

    Angel2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • The bus is a cozy spot for a night in Taos. A quick ride from historic downtown it’s the perfect place to sleep in the outdoors without camping. The fire pit was a great bonus! I even got dog and cat snuggles which is my fav! Kelly was very responsive. The bus has cots which were great. I used my bed roll on it and slept soundly. It’s a gorgeous spot to wake up and start your day!

    AmyLynn2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Kelly & Teddy are super awesome folk with an awesome spot there just on the outskirts of town, it's absolutely, I will be staying there again next time thru!!- DASHDOWN

Two adjoining rooms (one bedroom, one sitting room with couch), and a private bathroom. Mini-fridge and coffee set-up. Your own private access to quite courtyard. About 2 miles from the Taos Plaza, a 5-minute drive or 40-minute walk. NOTE: g00gle maps lists my street name wrong! I will send you directions upon booking. Also, in case of any allergies and sensitivities, please know that I have three cats and a dog :)
My home is in a residential neighborhood of Taos. You can walk to the movie theater and a few places to eat: Koko cafe, Yu Garden, 5 Star Burger, among a few others. You would want to drive into the center of town, to the Plaza, etc...
  • Lisa's place is comfortable and spacious, and the area is quiet. It's not too far from downtown, and a few minutes away by walking you can reach the main road where there are restaurants, stores, and even a cinema. Lisa is really nice and helpful too, she was willing to go out of her way to help me out with my concerns during my stay. I'd definitely recommend her place to anyone visiting Taos.

    Kim2019-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa's place was great. A large bathroom, a sitting room with a sofa, desk and stocked bookshelves, and a good-sized bedroom with a comfy bed. You can see the mountains from the deck outside the door. It's less than two miles from town, an easy bike ride. And Lisa could not have been sweeter.

    Rick2019-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa is a wonderful host!

    Heidi2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa's place was just as described, and much more spacious than expected. It was so comfortable and cozy, and we really liked how there is a little seating area with a sofa and desk separate from the bathroom. Nice sheets and luxe towels from the Company Store were appreciated touches. It was also great to have the microwave, hot pot, coffee and teas there so we could enjoy relaxing and slow mornings. The location was superb - the house is located on a corner in a very quiet and peaceful neighborhood and the corner lot opened to a nice view of open space across the way, so it actually felt kind of rural. But you could be in town in a matter of minutes. Lisa was a great host - very friendly and welcoming but also allowed us our privacy. Great communication, easy coming and going, and a great vibe. Highly recommend and would definitely stay here again next time we are in Taos.

    Zia2019-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • The space is very cozy and warm. Plenty of space ..feels very homey. Lisa is an incredible host!

    Marissa2019-05-18T00:00:00Z
  • We very much enjoyed staying at Lisa's place. It was a bit bigger than we expected, and we enjoyed the cozy Southwest decor. Lisa was a great host and I'd highly recommend staying with her!

Scenic simplicity in beautiful Taos, New Mexico. Our recently converted garage-to-studio apartment features stunning views of the Taos Valley and Pueblo Peak in a private yet convenient setting. The studio's location on the south side of town is a minute away from Holy Cross Hospital, and serves as an excellent jumping off point for Taos Ski Valley (40 min.), Angel Fire (40 min.), and Sipapu Ski And Summer Resort (30 min.). Explore nearby Taos Plaza and Taos Pueblo for unique art and culture.
Understated without being rustic, this simple studio space has everything you need for a nice vacation in Northern New Mexico. Please be aware that the studio has a kitchenette. There is a refrigerator, two burner hot plate, toaster, griddle and microwave.
The southern part of Taos is one of the areas where the locals live, with quick access to downtown, the hospital, dining options and more.
  • Super cute and cozy studio that's very conveniently located to Taos and not too far from the Taos Ski Valley. The bed was comfy and everything was spotless. The host was responsive and provided great driving directions, since Google maps isn't accurate to find the location. Great worth for the cost! I would definitely recommend this place for people wanting to visit Taos or ski nearby, and also wanting a reasonable price for 1 or 2 people.

    Eleni2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Place is just as described, clean, warm and beautiful! sweet space.

    Suni2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place! Was super easy to check in and check out. Can be hard to find but host provided great directions for it. Nice area to go ski Taos!

    Alexander2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay because of the location right off main road in Taos and an easy drive to Taos ski resort. The room is very nice and clean.

    Elizabeth2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great spot! The host is close and takes great care of the property. Great privacy and seclusion but also very close to town.

    Trevor2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The place was nice but the host was rude. I just spent my honeymoon, and husband's birthday, and Valentine's day and when we left she started making excuses to charge us more saying that she needed to charge us extra money for cleaning fees because her rug and towels got dirty which is ridiculous to us, if she doesn't want a rug to get dirty then why to put it there in the first place especially such a light colored rug. It seems she failed to provide enough cleaning supplies deliberately just to charge more, because there was no mop (well knowing that there is no road only mud). Also, There were faulty electrical plugs, If you wanna make coffee or toast bread you have to find a plug that actually works which is not even at the kitchen itself. All this after having such a happy feeling that we spent our special time together, we ended up being extremely disappointed of the bad reviews and feedback from the host and unexpected remarks. She failed to provide house rules and said to us that we had to use "common sense". I advice you future guests, take off your shoes before you enter the house if you don't want the same thing to happen to you.

  • Great place to stay! The instructions for arrival we're very helpful and the place had everything we needed. Definitely a little colder than expected inside, but was comfortable for sleeping! Perfect jumping off point to explore the town or go ski!

Cute, comfortable, convenient micro home; 1 block from the famous San Fransisco Church. Fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, DishTV, WIFI, air conditioning. Quiet neighborhood - a quick drive from Taos Plaza, less than one hour from 2 world-renowned ski resorts.
This affordable micro home is the perfect place to stay while enjoying everything Taos and the surrounding areas have to offer. Our bright and cheery space takes full advantage of all the New Mexico sunshine with skylights and a large window. The space is about the size of med-sized Airstream, and features a fully equipped kitchen, including dishware, gas range, oven, microwave and refrigerator - everything you need to cook! Comfy double size bed and linens sleeps a single or a couple. Robes and slippers are provided. There is also a washer/dryer. The building is tucked behind the main gate to the property, and shares the driveway with the main house. Guests enjoy the experience of living in an exquisite tiny house. It's perfect for two people for short visits, or one person for extended stays. Please inquire about special monthly rates ( 28 nights +) too! Taos has many exciting tourist attractions, but if you chose to stay in, take advantage of the lovely yard and seating areas. It is located in Taos' oldest neighborhood, Ranchos de Taos, one block from the most photographed church in the southwest. It is also just two blocks from the bus stop (bus runs Mon-Fri.) if you don't have a car.
"Ranchos" has the oldest buildings in Taos Valley and three of them house restaurants. Old Martina's is a good choice for their early dinner special (and sometimes they have music and dancing in the dance hall. The Trading Post Cafe (sign in front says ITALIAN RESTAURANT) is not really very Italian - it is my favorite neighborhood restaurant. Also there is great New Mexican food at the Ranchos Plaza Grill which looks onto the Church. I can never decide which is better, the green or red chili so I ask for both ( referred to as Christmas) on the blue corn chicken enchiladas.
  • This quaint little place is a perfect getaway in Taos! We came for a long ski weekend and the location is perfect. Just a short drive to Red River and Angel Fire. The fresh flowers and snacks were a perfect touch and Pat was very accommodating! We will definitely be back!

  • The gate house seems much larger on the inside than it does from the outside. It's a very well curated space with all the amenities as listed. Girlfriend thought it was very cute. Pat left some treats as I mentioned we were on a birthday trip. Very thoughtful. I'm 6'3", and I had enough space to sleep and shower. Very comfy bed.

    William2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Pat was a great host! The place was perfect for my needs and in a perfect location (cross country skiing). The backyard view of the mountains was marvelous. Pat was great with communication leading up to the trip and also while I was there. This will definitely be my home base again next time I visit the area.

  • Pat’s tiny house is adorable and so comfortable - we were happy campers for a few days with two of us. Ranchos de Taos is a great location; it’s a quick drive into town and it’s so nice walking to Ranchos plaza. Most importantly, Pat is incredibly thoughtful and hospitable. The tiny house was full of treats and personal touches, and Pat was so helpful.

The authentic Wild West has never been this close or this comfortable! Our 1898 oak Chile Line boxcar is loaded with unique charm, hand-crafted touches and complimentary treats. Views across hundreds of acres of cattle-grazing pasture to the Taos Mountains beyond will make your stay in beautiful Taos, New Mexico unforgettable.
Quiet, private and on a dead-end road with views over the open Taos landscape, some call the boxcar a sanctuary. This historic boxcar-casita is nestled next to the ever-changing organic garden and is perfect for those seeking sports & adventure, historic sightseeing, budget small family lodging, a romantic getaway, or a quiet retreat. It is great for quiet celebrations, but it is not a party house! For the weary traveler the queen-sized bed, nestled in the garden-end of the box car, is well-appointed. Guests have called it the "most comfortable", and "best sleep I have had in ages". The sleeper sofa is easily made up to accommodate a third guest in the living room/library. A walk-in closet provides ample storage for short stays. The big flat screen TV (with local channels, Netflix, Amazon Prime & a DVD player) and Bose surround sound can be luxuriously viewed from bed, the state-of-the-art loungers, and the dining nook. More entertainment choices include a radio/tape/CD player, cards, scrabble and a few other games, the library & wifi internet. It has been photovoltaic-powered for the last 15 years. The compact kitchenette includes china, silverware, glasses, mugs, wine glasses, a two-burner electric stove, a small fridge, sink, toaster oven, microwave, coffee grinder and tea kettle. We also offer complimentary bubbly water, home-made granola, eggs, English muffins or equivalent, fresh fruit, coffee, a variety of teas, 1/2&1/2 and basic condiments. Next to the kitchenette is the dining nook with stunning views. The luxurious claw-foot 'slipper tub' is the main feature of the bathroom annex, and invites leisurely baths or hand-held showers while viewing hundreds of acres of agricultural land, seasonally resplendent with coyotes, rabbits, soaring hawks, nesting magpies, cows and calves. The bathroom also features a low-flow toilet and sink, bathrobes, organic hand soaps, shampoo, bubble-bath and body creams.
Our property overlooks 400 acres of pastureland, with the Taos Mountains as a back drop. We are located in Ranchos de Taos, 3.5 miles from the Taos Plaza, and 4.5 miles from the Taos Pueblo. The Winter and Summer seasons are packed with exciting activities, including kayaking, whitewater rafting on the Rio Grande, fly fishing, swimming, & wildlife viewing in summer and skiing, snowboarding and cross country skiing at Taos Ski Valley (30min away), Angel Fire and Sipapu Ski Areas (< 1hr away) in winter. The golf course at Taos Country Club and tennis & swimming at The Spa are only minutes away. Other great activities & cultural events found in Taos include historic church visiting, hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking, mountaineering, hot springs, health & beauty spas, bird watching, scenic drives, gambling casinos, art festivals, museums, live theater, chamber music & wine tasting.
  • Spectacular stay with you Jean & Stephen! We had such a blast, and really appreciated the extra touches (spare toiletries, coffee + bfast supplies, etc.). The hot tub was awesome after a long day of skiing, too. Hopefully not the last time we'll get to stay here!

    Nishant2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Jean and Stephen were wonderful hosts. The boxcar is a one-of-a-kind home that offers an excellent escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

    Allison2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • My dog and I stayed in Jean and Steve's boxcar for two nights, and it was among the most memorable experience of my two-week road trip through the Southwest. The boxcar, despite being historic, was clean and cozy, with modern amenities - a perfect balance of comfort and character. The property sits next to undeveloped grassy fields, some distance from the main road, which meant my dog could run around outside to his heart's content, and I could enjoy peace, privacy, and beautiful views. All while food, galleries, and the Taos Pueblo were just a short drive away. The biggest highlight of this stay was my interaction with the hosts, Jean and Steve. They are warm, worldly people who take a genuine interest in their guests, and are glad to share their love for Taos (they've lived there for decades) as well as their personal stories, with those who are curious. During my stay, I was able to join them for breakfast and a nice trail walk with the dogs, where we chatted about things like art, sustainability, and entrepreneurship. Of course I also had plenty of time to myself, exploring town, soaking in the hot tub, and flipping through all the different books provided in the train car. To me, the best part of travel is meeting people and learning their perspectives, and I am grateful to Jean and Steve for so generously sharing their space as well as their ideas!

    Sharon2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Wounderful place to stay in Taos! So lovely and cozy. Jean and Steve are amazing hosts and the Boxcar is perfect for a couples weekend away!

    Madeline2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The boxcar sanctuary is full of nice touches; it has a beautiful valley view, stained glass windows in places, and all the necessary amenities for a relaxing and thorough stay in Taos. You can feel the thoughtfulness that Jean and Stephen have put into this property and it really stands out as a beautiful and unique space.

    Russell2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The box car is a perfect home base while skiing in Taos. Pup and I spent the better part of a week at this one-of-a-kind accommodation. The owners, Jean and Stephen are longtime Taos residents who are are everything you could ask for in an airbnb host. The boxcar has everything you need creating a cozy mountain retreat. After spending the day skiing, nothing is better than sitting in the hot tub, gazing up at the incredible, star filled sky above. For those of us over the six foot mark, make sure to move around at a slower pace. Being an old box car, it’s a bit low in places. Can’t wait to go back!

    Reagan2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint and unique boxcar surrounded with beautiful views. Less than 10 minutes from the Taos Plaza, and filled with thoughtful touches and amenities (coffee, tea, eggs, flowers, granola and more). Jean and Steve are wonderful hosts and even better people!

This is a spacious two bedroom, two bath home in a small community of similar houses centrally located in Taos. It is adobe style with two enclosed courtyards. This is a quiet neighborhood but only a block away from the main street. Multiple restaurants, coffee shops, and bars are a short walk away.
  • The house is beautiful! Perfect for a small group and a layout that gives the full New Mexico feel. It was clean, spacious, and had beautiful pottery and art throughout! We loved it and will definitely be back next time we are in Taos! Thanks again!

  • This home was perfect for my parents who came to visit. As a local in Taos, I chose this home because it is centrally located in a convenient, quiet, secure neighborhood. The house is pleasant, airy and spacious with high ceilings, a nice outdoor patio and walled-in front and back yards with pretty landscaping. We enjoyed preparing family meals in the kitchen/greatroom. It has 2 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. There is no parking on the street, but there is a 1-car garage and driveway for parking.

The artistic maps above the bed are of cities in which we lived in the U.S., Canada and Haiti, and some of the elements of the décor, such as the bedside rugs, are handwoven products made by skilled artisans of Ethiopia, where our careers took us in 2017. We are so happy to welcome you into this space and share a bit of our journey with you.
Casita Turquoise is located just 2 blocks from the Historic District in a safe and quiet residential neighborhood. It boasts beautifully landscaped grounds with cottonwood and juniper trees. The unit comes with one free parking spot and additional public parking is just one block away.
  • Walking distance to town. This room is about the size of a hotel room but adds the benefit of a stove. Easy access with a keypad lock. I might suggest bringing your own pillow if you prefer a firm pillow. Great for a quick ski trip!

  • Comfortable, cozy, and luxurious! We loved our stay. The perfect place to stay while attending a wedding at El Monte Sagrado.

    Maggie2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Well-located in the heart of downtown Taos, I highly recommend a stay here. It was welcoming, clean, and well-maintained with all the amenities one could hope for (including the most comfortable bed ever) in a cozy, romantic, getaway.

    Karl2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely little place. Cozy and comfortable.

    Shannon2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was perfect! The place was the perfect launching pad for both exploring town and skiing at Taos. The ski area is only 30 minutes driving and town is walking distance. We were able to explore the plaza and hit up some museums without driving, which is always an added bonus. The place is super cozy and stylish and the perfect size for 2 people. Loved being able to have a fire!

  • Great location! Super cute cottage!!!

    Sue2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • The casita is such a lovely and cozy space. It has so many special touches, including the traditional kiva fireplace, the fully-equipped and colorful kitchen, the beautiful exposed-wood beam ceiling, and the wonderfully comfortable bed. And on top of that, the location truly can’t be beat. I walked & wandered all thru the historic district every day I was there, grabbing coffee down the street, dipping into countless art galleries and finding so much amazing food within a couple blocks. I also snowboarded one day and the resort was an easy and scenic 20 minutes away. Hugo was very friendly with his messages and thorough with his check-in process, as well as with their guestbook, which has some great restaurant tips. I really hope to come back soon!

    Dylan2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • The condo is beautifully decorated and makes for a cozy stay for one or two people. Check-in is a breeze with Hugo and Jessica providing detailed information you need to make yourself at home. The location is also great - easy walking distance to a number of restaurants, bars, and galleries. Highly recommend.

  • Whitney’s place is super clean and very nicely decorated. The check-in process was easy and Whitney was responsive to questions. I was pleasantly surprised to find whole bean coffee and a grinder. The location was perfect!

    Laurie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Whitney's place is stocked and ready to roll. Nice touches with the coffee maker, Toaster, Etc. We spent most of our time at Taos ski valley and the location was within 30-40 minutes away depending on traffic. The home is situated to take advantage of the natural light. Whitney was fast to respond and the place was immaculate.

  • What a great place: spacious, clean, comfortable, stylish and well priced. As a bonus: yummy snacks on arrival and even fresh flowers. We loved our stay at Whitney's place and will definitely return next time we're Taos.

  • A great home to enhance your visit to Taos. I only wish we had been there in during warmer months to take advantage of the outdoor areas.

    Conor2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • There is plenty of space for everyone to spread out, but cozy enough to allow for socializing. We really enjoyed having the coffee maker, tea kettle, toaster, etc. to help us get started with our day! There is plenty of space outdoors, and it would be nice to enjoy it in the spring/summer/fall.

  • 5* unit!!! Joanne was VERY responsive, usually answered my questions in less than 1 hour. This property is outstanding and even better than the photos. Nicely furnished rural cabin with upgraded fixtures, well decorated with coordinated furniture and elegant accessories. Second bedroom is tiny, but the large bath was luxurious. Kitchen was fully equipped with completely new cooking & serving items; even some basic food supplies. You are sure to enjoy Taos from this comfortable base camp. It was easy to relax in this quiet setting after a full day of adventures in & around Taos. Thank you for sharing your lovely home May 23--28, 2019! Nancy

  • Joannes Place was a great treat for our ski trip to Taos. It is about a 40 min drive to Taos Ski Valley and 55 min to Red River Ski area, but being that distance allowed us to the closeness to Taos and also being able to sight see all that these beautiful cities the area has offer - and is close to restaurant and shops. We enjoyed everything about the cabin VERY much, it was cozy and the thoughtful amenities were a plus. It fit our family of 3 very well. We hope to come back and enjoy it again!!!

  • The Sister Casita was everything we hoped for on our vacation to Taos. Authentic decor made for the ultimate New Mexico experience and the convenient location made exploring all the shops, restaurants, scenery and Taos Ski Valley very easy. Jessica was not only a phenomenal host, she helped us through our first experience with AirBnB, quickly replied to all messages, and went above and beyond to assist us late at night. I’ve traveled the world and there are very few places like Taos, you’ll love it here.

    Jordan2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at the Casita!! We came to Taos to ski as a last minute trip. We are so delighted that we got to stay here! Check in was a breeze, Jessica was very informative. She was always quick to answer any questions I had, and even checked on us to see how we were enjoying our stay! The casita has everything we needed, I like to cook so I was very happy that she had a well stocked kitchen! The casita was clean and tidy, and also decorated very nicely! The location was great, everything was close! Plenty of great restaurants nearby ( our favorite was Orlando’s) and there was a organic healthy grocery store right across the street. We didn’t get to see any of the Taos local attractions but they were all fairly close. The drive to the ski resort was only about 25-30 min. Would highly recommend staying at Jessica’s casita! Can’t wait to stay here again next ski season! Thank you Jessica for sharing your beautiful home with us!

    Sasha2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Very charming, super clean, great location, reasonable price, dog friendly, friendly host, couldn't have asked for anything more. Hope to be coming back this summer!

    Hilary2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • The Sister Casita is a cute, one bedroom located within a duplex. The walls are quite thin, and we could hear the other side of the duplex's conversation early in the morning. However, other than that, the space is perfect, and Jessica is extremely timely with communications. The check-in is simple, and the casita has its own private space. The location is great - near The Love Apple, and we also walked to coffee at The Spot.

    Katie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place was perfect for our short stay in Taos. It was very clean, cozy, and charming! The bed was very comfortable and the hosts were just amazing with super quick response time and lots of info on things to do and places to see. The Casita is close to everything in town and only 15 miles to the ski area, which was a bonus for us. The kitchen is well equipped with pretty much everything you'd need for a short or long term stay and we loved the beautiful bathroom. We didn't want to leave, but it's time to get back to work :). We will definitely be staying here again!

Gorgeous mountain views and all of the comforts of home greet you in this beautiful 1954 Silver Dome travel trailer located just minutes from town and the area's outdoor and culinary attractions. Enjoy a full bedroom, bathroom (with new plumbing finally!), kitchen and living room with a mid-century aesthetic and inviting fenced yard.
Bright sunshine streams through the many windows of this rare mid century coach and provide stunning views of the mountains in nearly every direction. Sunrise, sunset and the starry nights are unencumbered by city lights, and you can enjoy the show from the coziness of the trailer or from the huge fenced yard. The trailer itself boasts many amazing original features, along with updated plumbing and electrical systems, a stove, microwave and refrigerator and a darling turquoise bathroom with a tub and shower. The bedroom features a full sized bed with a brand new mattress, lots of cozy linens, a built-in vanity, and of course those gorgeous windows to the stars. The sofa in the living rooms pulls out into another full sized bed if you need additional sleeping space. Heat is provided by two radiant heaters and the original crank windows can be opened to let in the fresh mountain air. All outlets work and wireless internet is available 24/7. Step out the door and enjoy a deck and fire pit in a large, fully fenced yard shared with my own home (a pristine 1957 Spartan Imperial Villa mobile home). This is a great place to spend a night or two in the tranquility of the mountain, under the New Mexico stars. We are all about respecting the space and our neighbors on the hill by keeping the noise down and limiting access only to those on the reservation. You'll find this makes for a wonderful evening for all! Whether you've been trailer park dreamin' and want to try the vintage trailer life on for size or are just looking for a unique, comfy home away from home in Taos, you've found it!
The trailer is located off Lower Los Colonias Road in El Prado, just 5 miles from the intersection with Highway 64. From that intersection (known by locals as the blinking light), it's just a few minutes to the Taos Mesa Brewery and the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge to the west and a few minutes to historic Arroyo Seco and the Taos Ski Valley the other direction. The Taos plaza with its abundance of art, culture and culinary delights is just 12 minutes away, and there are plenty of shopping and eating opportunities in between.

    Ann2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Very cool place! Amy has it decorated very chic and it truly is a vintage trailer. The yard has plenty of deck space and fire pits for hanging out. My stop was quick since we had to get on the road the next day, so it would be great to come back with a group and even utilize both trailers on the property. For the night, it was comfy, cozy and warm! Thanks, Amy!

    Jenna2020-03-07T00:00:00Z

This newly remodeled bright and pretty suite has epic views of Taos Mountain to the north and a spacious deck with vistas of the southern mountain range. Only 10 minutes to the Taos plaza and a straight shot to Taos Ski Valley in 25 minutes. A six-foot deep soak tub helps you relax after a day of fun! There is a twin bed that can be used as a sofa when occupied by 1-2 guests, or as a comfortable sleeping space for a third person. A Roku tv has Netflix, Hulu, Amazon. Coffee and tea provided.
We are on three acres, surrounded by sage brush. The suite is close to town, but it has a rural feel. This suite is adjoined to the main house and is separated by a door with a deadbolt. Soundproofing has been added for privacy. You may hear murmurs on our side of the house. It's just me and my partner, Martin with no pets, although some neighborhood dogs may come onto the property. They are friendly dogs, and will sometimes sniff around to keep us all safe! The deck is all yours-it's private and looks out onto the mountains and valley bellow. This kitchenette has a mini-fridge, microwave, tea kettle, coffee maker and cutting board. Supplies include plates, bowls, cups, silverware, a small cutting knife, wine opener, vegetable peeler, and cheese grater. Salt, pepper, sugar and creamer for the coffee or tea are available. There are two walkways. One is in front of my living room windows and the other is more private, on the backside of the house. Feel free to use either option.
Taos has art, history, skiing, fine dining, farming, hiking, rafting, earthships, communes, handcrafted artistry and more. In my neighborhood, every direction offers a picturesque view.

The kitchen is great for both cooking and eating. The bathroom is roomy and a great place to take a long bath. I loved going outside at sunset to watch Taos Mountain turn pink. This home is a great value. I highly recommend it.

  • Jackie was such a great host. She was very responsive and flexible throughout our stay, and made us feel welcome. We stayed at Jackie's with our Great Dane who thoroughly enjoyed the nice size private yard. Definitely highly recommend to those traveling with a pet.

  • Very clean and comfortable with everything you need. Good communication. You peasant easy stay.

    Ruston2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • While this house is in a remote and challenging place to find at first, we cherished the remote beauty and privacy that Jackie's place provided. Our little dog also loved the freedom to run around the fenced in property. We were extremely comfortable and since we were driving across the country, we really appreciated the feeling of being home - and the ability to do our laundry. Honestly, we wanted to stay!

    Elaine2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay. Great place the only downside is the road that the property is located on was a little rough.

    Mary Kay2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Jackie’s place, which is rustic, clean, spacious, aesthetically pleasing and very thoughtfully arranged, suited us perfectly. We appreciated being able to do laundry.

    Cris2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Homey and comfortable house in Instagram- worthyTaos neighborhood - winding dirt road, sluice gates, falling-down barn, taxidermy studio, colorful graveyard. My dog enjoyed exploring the large fenced yard, sunbathing on the front porch. Washer/dryer was a much appreciated amenity. Neighborhood is dark at night. Make sure to note some landmarks before venturing out in the evening. Stars were unbelievable!

    Cynthia2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great little space. Nice and cozy but fresh. The yard area looks great for summer days. It was stormy weather during my stay so I missed out on that part.

Enjoy this private and unique adobe house on 14 acres with its secluded but perfectly situated location 17 miles from Taos Ski Valley and 2.5 miles north of Taos Plaza. You'll have the whole house and all the land to yourself--perfect for a quiet retreat or a romantic getaway. In case your group requires more space, there is an additional 2 person room available through Airbnb (only available to guests that book the Relaxing Taos Adobe Abode.) Please inquire!
The room is just a small part of a 3000 square foot classic old adobe with 30" thick walls. The house was originally built in the early 1900's and features locally milled pine wood floors and counter tops, soft mud plaster with latilla and split cedar ceilings. It sits on 14 acres with incredible unobstructed views of Taos Mountain. It has mature cottonwoods, dozens of (somewhat feral) fruit trees and an acequia (irrigation stream) along its eastern border. The large guest room suite (roughly 350 square feet) features wonderful radiant heat from a Kuma oil stove (winter), a couch, a club chair, 40" HDTV, HULU with Live TV (includes multiple HBO stations, local channels, ESPN channels, NBC Sports, and many other traditional cable channels.) Disney+, Netflix, HBO NOW, Amazon Prime, ESPN+, PBS and many other APPs are also available on a 100Mbs wireless network. The room is also equipped with A/C for the summer months (though the nights in Taos are very cool and the A/C is rarely needed.) The queen sized bed has a feather comforter with duvet, feather pillows, (neck and memory foam pillows are also available as are down alternative comforters and pillows) premium cotton sheets, wool blankets and a mattress pad heater (warm up the sheets before you go to bed!) for extra coziness. There is a small desk with pens, pencils and notepads and a flashlight in case of emergencies. There is an iron inside the wardrobe and an ironing board next to the wardrobe. Lastly, there is an additional 2 person bedroom (king sized bed) that can be booked through AirBnB if you are looking for more space. (The additional room is only available to guests that book this listing--you'll never be sharing the house with strangers.) Enjoy!
The house is located off a paved road but is a 1.5 miles from the nearest grocery stores (Cid's is a wonderful locally owned natural food grocery store similar to Whole Foods) and restaurants. Its about a 45 minute walk into town and a 25 minute drive to Taos Ski Valley. Other places to check out: Coffee: World Cup, The Apothecary Grocery Stores: Cid's Food Market, Taos Market, Smiths Restaurants: Dinner: The Love Apple, Orlandos, Parcht. Lunch/Breakfast: Taos Diner, Gutiz, Manzanita Market, Koko
  • Chris was responsive. The house is clean and off the beaten path. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

  • My husband and I stayed 3 nights here and we LOVED it! Easily one of the most unique properties we have stayed in. The historic adobe architecture is amazing, super quiet and cozy during cold nights. We cooked a lot of meals there and felt like a queen and king in the epic dining room. The view of the mountains, the incredible stars, and the proximity to town make it an ideal location. Chris is a very thoughtful, detail oriented host. He gave great recommendations and always responded quickly. Don't pass this place up!!

    Alexis2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Chris's place is nothing short of awesome! So quiet and private you feel like you're miles away from everything. But your only a few minutes to town and under a half hour to the mountain! Many thoughtful touches, super well appointed space and great communication. Our room was already warm upon arrival and kept us cozy our entire trip. We would definitely stay here again!

    Niki2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • What a unique experience to stay at Chris’ place! The kitchen was amazingly outfitted. We really enjoyed our peace and quiet and close proximity to town as well as skiing!

  • If you are looking for the perfect embodiment of Taos charm, then you have found it here. Chris's earthship has everything to make your vacation home feel like your own home. Very well equipped with kitchen and bathroom essentials, with thoughtful perks throughout! You can tell this home and property has a lot of good energy to share with fellow adventurers. Beds are super comfortable, lovely linens, and amazing host who has thought of it all!

  • Incredible home with beautiful views, charming details, and easy access to Taos Ski Valley. We loved making fires in the little stove every night. We also cooked most of our meals in the well equipped kitchen. The interior of the home is beautiful and cozy. It's the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway.

  • Hugo and Jessica's adobe style casita is cosy and inviting with all the amenities needed for a long weekend. It is in a great location, in walking distance to historic Taos and an easy drive to Taos Ski Valley. The directions provided to find the place were clear and check in was easy.

    Julie2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect for our stay in Taos. My lady loved staying here. Walk to downtown and the drive the the Ski Valley felt very fast.

    Austin2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Hugo and Jessica's space is SO CUTE! It's perfect for one person or a couple, I think it would be tight for more people. The fireplace was so cozy and perfect on the cold nights of the winter. The space was easy to access and Hugo and Jessica were incredibly flexible and responsive when I had many questions. I would definitely recommend this place for folks coming to Taos - it's close enough to walk but far enough away from the hubbub. The sound machine was a great touch, as the bedroom is on the main street. It wasn't loud, by any means, but when there was extra noise the sound machine was GREAT!

Set 10 minutes outside of town, this amazingly well-preserved mid-century beauty offers all of the comforts of home in just over 400 carefully designed square feet. Constructed in 1957 by the Spartan Aircraft company, this trailer was meant to be the epitome of modern luxury, with many windows offering expansive views of the mountains and a front row seat to the dramatic weather and sky that make northern New Mexico so enchanting. A huge fenced yard with multiple decks is also yours to enjoy!
Bright sunshine streams through the many windows of this rare mid century home and provide stunning views of the mountains in nearly every direction. Sunrise, sunset and the starry nights are unencumbered by city lights, and you can enjoy the show from the coziness of the trailer or from the huge fenced yard. The trailer itself boasts many amazing original features, along with updated plumbing (including an on-demand hot water heater that allows for an endless supply of hot water) and electrical systems, a stove, microwave and refrigerator and a full bathroom with a standard sized tub and shower. The bedroom features a queen sized bed with a brand new mattress, lots of cozy linens, a built-in vanity, and of course those gorgeous windows to the stars. The sofa in the second bedroom / movie room pulls out into another full sized bed. Heat is provided by a propane furnace which keeps the trailer nice and toasty in the winter and will soon be converted to also provide central air conditioning. And of course, the original crank windows can be opened to let in the fresh mountain air. All outlets work and wireless internet is available 24/7. Step out the door and enjoy a deck and fire pit in a large, fully fenced yard shared with two other fabulous vintage trailers, the yellow Silver Dome seen in the photos and a soon-to-arrive 1964 Barth travel trailer.

  • My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time staying at Amy's place. We were able to experience staying in a vintage trailer. The place was close enough to Taos but far enough to get some quite at the end of the day. Amy was wonderful and very helpful with the directions to her place. She was also very respectful of our privacy. We would definetly come back sometime to stay.

Sway in an indoor hammock in a wide open, light-filled space. This period adobe was originally the dance studio of renowned flamenco artist, Maria Benitez. Today it's been reimagined as a semi-rustic, romantic getaway in a private park-like setting.
Built in the 1950's as a dance studio, this large (860 square foot) open plan stand studio house still has it's original oak flooring and rough hewn vigas (beams). It has a rustic southwestern feel without the cliche: a mix of antique, mid-century and contemporary features. There are large new windows and skylights which provide an abundance of natural light and a lovely view of the large trees your own private 1/4 acre property. Casita Benitez feels romantic, whimsical, cozy, bohemian, and a retreat like getaway as well as a fabulous place to unwind. It is also an excellent home base for exploring Taos and surrounding areas. The kingsize bed is dressed with premium organic bedding and very comfortable. The living area has a cozy sofa, chairs and hammock for the ultimate relaxing. The kitchen area has a full size refrigerator, gas oven/stove, all the necessary dish-ware, cook-ware, coffeemaker, toaster, blender, and microwave. The dining table seats 4. The bathroom has a brand new clawfoot tub with shower. There is a large covered porch with views of the big silver poplar trees as well as a enclosed porch with bistro. There is high speed WIFI, Cable TV, and Netflix. For those that need to work there is also is a desk and chair. Although the Casita is large and spacious there are no walls so if you are planning on having more then two guests just be aware there is not much privacy for 3. The sofa is not a pull out but comfortable enough to sleep 1 under 6ft tall. I also can provide a single fold out mattress so please indicate in advance if you plan on having a 3rd guest and I will set aside the proper provisions.
Casita Benitez is in the Canon neighborhood, a mile from Taos city limits, in the foothills of Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The area is filled with Spanish and Native history. Great hiking trails at El Nogal in the Carson National Forest are nearby.
  • LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! Had to take a picture of the sheets to order some myself because that bed was so comfy. Major fan of the hammock!! The entire place was so creative and artistic looking!

    Maxwell2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely escape from the hustle and bustle. The Casita was beautifully decorated and cozy. Justin made us feel so welcome and cared for. The bed is very comfortable with amazingly soft sheets and cozy bedding. We loved sipping wine on the front patio and swinging in the hammock while listening to the birds in the trees. We enjoyed a lovely and meaningful tea ceremony with Jade, and all the recommended hikes and restaurants were great. We especially loved the Love Apple and Chokola. We were not able to go to the Pueblo because it was closed for religious ceremonies until April, but overall we had a memorable and restful stay and would love to come back.

  • Great space - very much enjoyed it. Host was super nice and always looking for ways to offer advice and make stay a good experience. One of the better Airbnb experiences I’ve had.

  • Located just 2 miles out of town but felt very secluded. The space itself was beautiful and felt like home. Very relaxing. If you’re on the edge, book it, you won’t regret it.

    Lindsey2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Exceeded my expectations for sure. Open, comfortable and private! I look forward to returning for a longer stay!

    Rob2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re considering booking this place, JUST DO IT! It was exactly what we wanted for our little getaway. The location was excellent & the space couldn’t have been cuter. There were so many thoughtful details that made everything extra special. The communication was easy and they even checked in to make sure we were doing okay. The only downfall was that we couldn’t stay longer and had to get back to real life! 10/10!

    Tana2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • WOW! What a fantastic experience from start to finish. Justin was such a lovely host. He was in communication to make sure we were well taken care of - he provided recommendations around town, easy check-in instructions, and made sure we had everything we needed once we had arrived. The Casita itself is simply beautiful. Better than photos! The decor is special and the space felt private and cozy. We couldn't have had a better stay. Oh - the BED! It's possibly more comfortable than my bed at home, which I take great pride in :) The bamboo sheets are buttery soft and the bed feels like a cloud. Easily the best Airbnb bed experience we've ever had. I 100% recommend staying here and can't wait to return.

Perfect for a couple, but can accommodate a third person on sofa bed. Five minutes from the golf course, 10 minutes to hiking and mt. bike trails, 15 minutes to Taos Plaza, and 45 minutes to Taos Ski Valley. We welcome all.

  • This is the best possible place to stay if you're in Ranchos de Taos. The views are fantastic, and it felt like a place where someone could live long term, rather than a hotel room. There is a lot to do nearby, and our hosts were very helpful. Highly recommended!

  • My husband and I stayed at John's place for our anniversary. He was very accommodating of our dog, Daisy and provided her a few treats too! The place was clean and welcoming when we arrived and had also had a washer and dryer which I didn't expect. The amenities are great and included coffee beans, a grinder, creamer and cinnamon! I was thankful for that because I forgot to bring mine. The shower is also quite wonderful! Overall, we enjoyed our stay and had a wonderful time in Taos. Thank you for everything, John!
