Nomad Tree Lodge isn’t for everyone… Off-grid terrain and climbing 60 stairs to your cabin high in the RAINforest jungle canopy isn’t for everyone. Water conservation and eco conscious traveling isn’t for everyone. Having the island's best reef break within walking distance isn’t for everyone. It's for anyone looking to escape the 4 walls of a hotel room and experience something truly unique. Nomad Tree Lodge is for the wanderers, the seekers; is it for you? www.airbnb.com/p/nomadtreelodge
Your private 130 sq ft cabin, with 30 sq ft porch is situated on an amazing rainforest hillside connected to the rest of the lodge via rope bridges and elevated pathways. Connect with nature and experience the jungle while still enjoying a comfortable bed, electricity, wifi and access to a modern bathroom and kitchen. Enjoy being high up in the trees, listening to the waves of the ocean crash, or walk less than 5 minutes to the beach to watch the sunrise over the ocean. The cabin sits above the ground in the trees and is fully screened in, so you enjoy the view and ocean breeze without any bugs. That means you don't have to sleep with an annoying bug net. They may look cute and exotic, but we've found bug nets are really no fun to sleep under. Each cabin features a queen-sized cooling gel memory foam mattress, lockable cabinetry and desk. Share a large bathroom with only one other cabin. The bathroom is close enough for comfort, but far enough for privacy. Each shared bathroom includes a private open air shower situated 16ft high up in the trees. All cabins are fully furnished with linens and towels. Please note, the color of your cabin can vary. We have multiple cabins spread out on our 2.5 acre property. The central common areas of the lodge are all have great wifi access. Each of the cabins access to wifi vary depending on your device and the location in proximity to the central common areas. Some of the cabins have great wifi inside the cabin itself, while others might require you access the wifi from the deck. Please, remember to read the entire listing this includes the neighborhood and location section. Nomad is a unique and awesome experience, but understanding our location will help you decide if it's right for you! Other cabin types: www.airbnb.com/p/nomadtreelodge
We are located just steps away from a shallow reef surf beach. Also, there are a few restaurants and bars within walking distance. Please understand world class surf beaches aren't always great places to swim. This beach has reef and rock on it for a perfect left and right reef break. There are swimming beaches located about a 15-20 minute walk from our lodge, but the beach closest to us is for surfing. Nomad really is an awesome experience, but it's not for everyone! As mentioned, we are not located in Bocas Town, or even walking distance to town. We are about 6km from town. You can easily take a $3-5, per person, cab to town every single day if you want. Bocas Town itself is built on the bayside, so it's a great place for bars and restaurants, but not a great place to enjoy the ocean. That's why so many people choose to stay in our neighborhood. If you can't afford a 15 minute cab ride, or wouldn't enjoy a 30 minute bike ride then don't book with us. If you think being 6km from town means we aren't worthy of 5 stars for location, then don't book with us! Please remember, you are choosing to stay with us, not the other way around. Please don't arrive here knowing our distance from town and knowing we are in the jungle behind a surf beach and not a swimming beach, and then say the location isn't great. We understand it's not great for everyone, so if you wouldn't consider being outside of town, in the jungle, just behind a surf beach great, just don't stay with us!
  • Thanks to Amanda & Asher, but also to Nicole & Lily. Our stay was just perfect and everything was better than expected. We met cool people, the cabins were just magical and we couldn’t hope for a better hospitality. We also enjoyed that its a eco-friendly place. Food was amazing too and it was easy to get to town with cabs. The restaurants and places around Nomad were very cool too, and we enjoyed yoga with Ashley and Nicole! Thanks again for everything guys. We didnt want to leave and we will hopefully come back one day. :)

  • Amanda is a very sweet host. She gave us always good advice and were intersted in our plans for the day. The atmosphere is in general very chilled and friendly also with the other guests. I am fascinated about the fact that the whole water system works with rain water. Cool experience in the jungle! :-)

  • Thank you very much, it has been beautiful to stay in your cabin

  • This place is an incredible experience, Amanda and Asher are excellent hosts, Nicole (the bar manager) is a super sweet and predisposed person. Super recommended, it is a paradise. The bungalows are beautiful, they are in the middle of the vegetation and are super clean. The place takes great care of the ecosystem and the environment. The wi fi works perfect. The pool can be used 24 hours. And there is a 24-hour self-service bar system for those who want to drink a beer or a fefresco at any time. The impeccable bathrooms. A wonderful experience!

  • Nomad owners and staff go above and beyond to make guests feel welcome and valued. My month here was magical, special, and unforgettable.

  • Thank you Amanda & Asher for having us! We loved our stay at your place and wish we could have stayed longer. Rooms are stylish and very clean, no bugs inside. The main house, the pool, the food, the hospitality, the location, everything was just amazing!

  • It was my boyfriend’s birthday on one of the nights we stayed at Nomad and they helped me put up a birthday banner for him! What a thoughtful team!! We both were very impressed by our tree house and would definitely visit again if we ever come back to Bocas! Would definitely recommend!

    Miranda2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Cool place in the trees - we enjoyed listening to the howler monkeys in the morning and saw some toucans from the deck. The relaxed vibe was nice.

    Kirk2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Nomad is truly a one of a kind place in the most amazing setting. Asher, Amanda, and their staff created such a special experience for us on our week long stay in Bocas. Every morning Amanda personally greeted us and ensured that we had something special planned for the day. She made arrangements, provided recommendations, and called taxis to ensure we were able to get to our outings on time. The dinner and breakfasts were some of the best we had in Panama, and the cocktails were top notch. You can tell that Amanda, Asher, and crew have put their heart and soul into Nomad, and we simply can't wait to go back!

    Kiel2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent hosts, great communication, and very attentive to their guests needs. Clean & comfortable accommodation with prepared food available onsite as well as staples in the canteen. Relaxing jungle location within close walking distance to Playa Paunch and Paki Point. Recommended!

    Christopher2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Amanda and Asher are amazing hosts! The food is incredible (Especially the banana coffee smoothie and the pulled chicken burger) they have an awesome team (including Kilo the pup) who not only make you feel totally at home but a part of the Nomad family as soon as you walk through the door. The drinks, the music and the whole vibe is set to completely relax you in this jungle oasis. The pool and the deck are perfect, and there's plenty of beaches and bars to walk to. I don't think I've slept as well as I did to the sounds of the jungle and the waves. Thank you for such a magical experience!

  • See previous review. We rented 3 cabins.

    Katherine2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Amanda was a kind and thoughtful host. We enjoyed the screened in bedroom and additional living space. The fan provided a good breeze for sleeping. The bed was comfortable. We enjoyed a breakfast and dinner at the lodge. We loved seeing the monkeys and we saw a sloth one morning. We rented bikes before heading to the lodge. It was an easy 25 minute bike ride to the lodge, except for the last 1/2 mile. The pavement ends and you have to ride on the sand. Getting a taxi is always an option. There are plenty that travel the road. We really enjoyed our stay.

    Christine2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Amanda and Asher’s place is truly magical! Really the best of both worlds. You have everything you need at nomad including A beautiful tree house, excellent prepared food, or a kitchen to cook for yourself. They provided a great sense of community and are always available for suggestions, ordering cabs, mixing cocktails... really anything you might need. My husband and I would definitely recommend this place. We hope to stay again soon!

Location is everything, If you are looking for the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the daily routine with a spectacular view, Bocas Ridge Hotel and Residence is the perfect location, with onsite restaurant/bar, and medical clinic, 20 minutes from Almirante.
  • Hotel resort with clean, comfortable rooms and a very nice view from the balcony. A bit remote though - you'll need to get a taxi if you're coming from Almirante, which should be ~$8 (taxi drivers at the bus stop will try to rip you off and demand 15, but you can bargain with them). Staff doesn't really speak English and was a bit confused, but the owner of the resort was very helpful and cleared everything up. He even offered us a ride and drove us back down to Almirante harbor the next day. (note however that not all rooms offer a sunset view - most seem to be north/east facing, as is the restaurant terrace) The restaurant is unfortunately only average - the menu is huge and offers all kinds of food, but staff is not particularly attentive or fast, and the food quality was so-so. Still very recommended stay for the rooms and view alone. Just go somewhere else for dinner :)

Almirante, Provincia de Bocas del Toro, Panama

Our hotel, Los Balcones over the Sea, is located over the calm waters of Isla Carenero, close to town yet far enough away to relax and feel free from the chaos. This room is on the second floor and has a private patio & queen sized bed. We are within walking distance to a market, restaurants, beaches and surf breaks, but you can also easily hail a water taxi from our dock to avoid town altogether. We also have a large shared space with a dock for swimming, with kayaks available for rent.
Your room has a private balcony, as well as a large shared waterfront deck over the sea! Our location on the island allows for a cool breeze even on the hottest of days. You can walk to the island's surf breaks and beaches, or take a quick water taxi instead. Everything is close by on Carenero- restaurants, bars, a grocery store, etc. and the taxi to town is only $1. We offer breakfast service in the morning and can provide dinner on request.
Isla Carenero is located very close to Bocas Town by way of water taxi. The island is small and has a relaxed vibe. We are within walking distance to restaurants, beaches, and surf breaks. It should be noted that while the neighborhood adjacent is safe to walk through, it is an indigenous village where people live in a simple manner (likely, very different from the travelers who stay with us at the hotel). Please be respectful in understanding that Panama is a developing country and poverty is still present in many areas, although this should not impact your stay in any negative manner:)
  • Really spectacular, we loved the hotel, the island and the friendliness of the hosts

  • This is truly a hidden gem in the Bocas Province. Beautiful common space, large rooms (very comfortable bed), large bathroom, and very clean. Both Jerry and Lesley introduced themselves and made sure everything was to my liking. They offered any desired info on the local food and things to do. I have stayed several places in Bocas and surrounding islands, and this is one I will return to and recommend. Amenities were perfect, communication was fast and check in and out was easy. Can not say enough good things about Jerry, Lesley and their beautiful place.

  • Our second time there. We just love the place. Great place, great hosts.

  • Very cool location on the water with spacious neat rooms with balconies and beautiful views. The host Jerry gives you many good tips and is very involved with the guests. Isla Carenero is perfectly located to stay and go to the other islands from here. All in all a great stay and definitely recommended!

    Marissa2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I stayed at this spot for a few days and loved it. Jerry and Lesley are extremely hospitable, immediately made us feel at home and provided help in planning excursions for stay. The location is right outside of the busy main town which provides a more peaceful atmosphere but still only a quick boat ride into town if desired.

    Kyle2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Lesley’s place was great. Location was just across the water from BocasTown and very easily accessible by water taxi ($1 per person). She was a very helpful host and had plenty of information for us. She suggested the all-day boat tour and it ended up being the highlight of our 4 days in town. Do it. Already trying to figure out when we’ll get back down to Panama. Would definitely recommend staying here.

  • The room was lovely and Jerry & Lesley were the perfect hosts. The location is great - just a 2 min boat taxi from Bocas town, but quiet enough to enjoy a relaxing visit. They have a couple of kayaks which they let us hire for free which we can fully recommend and Jerry also arranged a tour for us which was great fun. Breakfast was delicious - I can fully recommend the pancakes!

  • Los Balcones is in a great location, a 1$ water taxi ride to about anywhere! The room was large and clean with great A/C (very important). The hosts were awesome, we had breakfast there one morning and it was very good!

  • Lesley and Jerry are amazing hosts! Check in was easy, they even gave us an early check in and helped us with baggage storage on our last day! They provided us with tips and suggestions for the local area and they were a pleasure having around! The space itself was in a great location and very clean and stylish. I would recommend staying here for anyone that wants to enjoy their time in Bocas. Once again, this place was amazing.

  • Lesley and Jerry are wonderful hosts. They are working hard on renovating their property. The location is great and it is easy to grab a water taxi anywhere you want to go. There are some great places to eat close by. Jerry and Lesley are very responsive and also had great tips on things to see and do.

    Karen2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • This place is definitely the best in Bocas. The rooms are comfy and clean, you’ll get a delicious breakfast, the view is amazing and the hosts are just THE BEST!

    Laura2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • We spent 5 nights at this place. The hosts are very attentive and a great help to advise us in the choice of activities or beaches. The only drawback is that we must always use a water taxi to get everywhere on the main island. So plan about $ 5 / person per day to leave and return to the room. Thanks again

    Alexandre2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay.

    Xio2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Lesley and Jerry's place is great to be when visiting Bocas. The a/c and ceiling fan are a godsend in hot humid Bocas. Beaches on the other side of the island are easily gotten to by foot. Lovely restaurant just on the southern tip of the island (Leaf Eaters) and more choices towards the beach area. Quick $1 water taxis ride into town. We've lived in Bocas a few years back and the whole town (not just near this place) can be very noisy on weekends. The week days are quiet. We had no problems with noise or loud music, or any music night or day during our mid week stay. The indigenous village on the south end is very basic, as another reviewer noted. But the children are happy and playing and always ready to say hi! And well, it does remind us how lucky we are to be able to take vacations. And our “cheap” vacations often take us to places like this village. But these folks are willing to share their island with us.

    Bocas del Toro, Panama

Paradise seekers welcome to enjoy off-grid luxury living less than 100m from Bocas del Toro's most pristine beachfront. Custom-built 1 bedroom vacation home using local hardwoods with king-sized & double beds. Special artistic features include a mosaic rain water shower, fully equipped kitchen, cozy living room & large deck. Spend a few nights or an extended stay while taking in the sounds of Bocas' monkeys, sloths, tropical birds & other wildlife in the surrounding rain forests.
Abracadabra is one of the few home rentals available on Bluff Beach- a truly magical place with 7 kilometers of pristine golden sand beach backed by untouched rainforests. It is a nature-lovers paradise filled with incredible wildlife...howler monkeys, white-faced monkeys, sloths, caimans, leatherback turtles, parrots, and poison dart frogs are just a few of the animals that you may be fortunate enough to see up close during your stay. Every home and business in Bluff Beach is "off the grid", meaning that all of our water comes from the rain and all of our electricity comes from the sun, so you can feel great about being a responsible and eco-friendly tourist.
Bluff Beach is a protected nature reserve and turtle nesting beach. There are several small B&B's in the neighborhood and 3 restaurant-bars within walking distance of Abracabra. The nearest stores are located in town where you can bring provisions like beverages, snacks and any food you plan to prepare in the custom kitchen. We provide drinking water and the basics- olive and sunflower oil, salt, pepper, coffee and sugar as well as locally made organic soap and shampoo.
  • Abracadabra is a stylish and very welcome place. Also a very suitable place for the eco-traveler, because really everything is being done to minimize consumption, but still keep it comfortable. Martin and Nicole are ready for you at any time and can help you with anything! This is definitely recommended

    Yanniek2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic three night stay at Nicole and Martin’s place and strongly recommend it! Martin made us feel so very welcome throughout our stay - we appreciated knowing that he was on hand but that we had a lovely space to ourselves. The hospitality went above and beyond - Martin even managed to find us a sloth in the trees when we mentioned that we hadn’t been able to spot one. The little touches in the cabin were great and the mosaic shower is amazing. We had dinner at the nearby Hummingbird one night and enjoyed exploring the area and listening to the waves. The bed was exceptionally comfortable (and huge!) and the kitchen and living space is really generous. We would love to return one day!

    Joy2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • This place appealed to us as we had 3 weeks in the area and wanted a variety of places. After spending time in the city & Bocas town we chose this spot foe a week. The location was great, and cab driver new of Martin and the area. We loved the larger cabin with jungle vibes. Heard and saw all sorts of creatures and even had a snake (a small boa) visited the deck! We loved the easy beach access and watching surfers, even a pro was in the area! We hiked easily to the blue lagoon twice and were pleased to see sloths, monkeys and fancy birds along the way! Martin also provided an early check in/ later check out! He also happily set up the bbq and gave us additional condiments to cook with. The kitchen had everything we needed, with lots of drinking water. I further enjoyed the fresh cut tropical flowers, funky art and local soaps! Kept our showers short , but they were hot& fantastic! The beautiful mosaic made the shower unique with large rain faucet and soft towels! There was some construction next door, but all noises ended by 10 pm nightly... except the cool jungle sounds & crashing waves from yonder ! Highly recommend this place!

    Sandra2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Martin was a pleasure to deal with. He assisted us with ferry service to Bacos and with Taxi. Also provided us with local tips. Great location away from the bustle of Boca Town.

    Mike2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • The space is new and spacious. Our hosts were welcoming and really helped us when we accidentally left some clothes. They also provided great tips on a local restaurant and the welcome guide to the area was Extensive. We definitely recommend this site.

    Tom2019-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Martin and Nicole’s was the best option for us as our last days in this beautiful country! The hosts were very positive people and really nice to talk to! The house has everything you need for a wonderful stay in a relatively unspoilt corner of Bocas. We cooked a lot at home, and all utensils were there for it. Beautiful beach right in front of the house 3 min away by foot with great surfing waves, nice trails in nature too! You can hear monkeys, birds, waves, that’s what I call paradise!! • Martin and Nicole inspire with their warm hospitality and high flexibility regarding the check in / check out. We felt very welcome. The accommodation is beautiful and decorated with attention to detail. You can hear the howler monkeys roar and many other animals, as well as the sea rushing. Bluff Beach is beautiful, lonely and quiet.

    Francesca2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended if you want to retreat to a paradise away from the hustle and bustle of Bocas town. Martin and Nicole were great hosts helping organize a taxi from the airport, suggesting we pick up snacks and drinks on the way in from town. Both hosts were extremely helpful and never instrusive. Always smiling and waving. Sweet dogs too! The casita is beautiful, and the layout with the main area and bedrooms and decks allowed my daughter and I to have our own space when we needed it. Be prepared to wake up to the sounds of birds and howlers monkeys and insects churring in the forest and the thunder of the waves in the distance. Everything was clean and worked. The shower was lovely. Filtered water was provided. Easy to prepare meals on your own with a nice stovetop and ample frig. Four spots to eat within walking distance. Food and drinks were great at all of them. Town is not close so you will need to grab a bus or call a cab to get there, and the road is bumpy and fun. A great hour hike through the jungle and across streams to reach a snorkeling area. Beach in front of casita was only swimmable one day when the water was calm. Amazing sand, no trash, miles of forest meeting the sand. Truly spectacular. This place is perfect if you want to get away and slow down the pace for a couple of days.

Saigoncito #3 is a small wooden cabin/studio with private bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen. It has a queen size bed and a hot water shower. Also, WiFi and safe box. The cabana is basic but you will feel right at home. A spacious veranda with a hammock may be shared with another room (max. 2 guests) and it's just waiting for you to come hang out and enjoy this quiet getaway!
On the main Island of the archipelago Bocas del Toro, named Isla Colon, you'll find Panama's Paradise. Our cabanas are comprised of 10 different properties, divided into rooms, apartments and cabanas. All are situated on a small property near the water, surrounded by lots of lush, green tropical plants in a quiet neighborhood with that perfect tropical vibe. Saigoncitos are built with a caribbean feel and colonial style that is widely seen in Bocas. The wooden cabanas stand on stilts, are colorfully painted and have spacious verandas with hammocks. The cabanas are surrounded by lots of trees and tropical plants. Fairly hidden in your hammock you'll enjoy the numerous visits of the hummingbirds to the garden while sometimes you will see local chickens wandering around. The cabanas are fully furnished and nicely decorated. Inside them you will find all the luxuries that you're familiar with at home: WiFi, equipped kitchens, semi-orthopedic mattresses, safe boxes, ceiling fans and warm water showers.
The Saigoncitos are located in a small and friendly neighborhood with a mix of locals and foreigners, called Saigon. It is a quiet area but gives you a real taste of the local life. The Istmito beach is just 3 mins walking and you're only a five minute bike-ride away from Bocas Town or 20 mins slow walk.
  • If you’re traveling to Bocas de Toro and want to live a little bit aways from the downtown area, I strongly suggest this place! The cottages are super cool, the staff is nice, and beaches, markets, everything are within walking distance.

    Brennan2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Comfortable and comfortable place to stay. Equipped with everything you need in the kitchen. The attention of the staff very friendly and attentive. A little cabin surrounded by nature and plants. We had no problems with mosquitoes. Walking to town 20 minutes. It's close ... and on the Camino you find curious places to eat or drink coffee. There are also taxis, constant buses.

  • Absolutely love the place! Super cute cabanas with good and well thought out equipment, even in the kitchen, that's very rare. Super cozy balconies with hammocks, perfect to relax.  I walked about 25 minutes from the ferry which is ok. For a cab you would probably pay 2-3$. Next beach is 3 minutes to walk, but a little further to the nicer ones. It's a lively neighborhood at daytime which easily gets you in Caribbean mood, but superquiet at night.  All in all great experience for an absolutely reasonable price.

    Astrid2019-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • A little out of the way but well equipped apartment!

    Joachim2018-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed in Bocas for spanish lessons and it was the best home I could have. The room is spacous, the kitchen has everything you need and the bathroom is nice with the paintings on the wall. I could even make smoothies! The decorations and the colours fits and it's made by love. You can relax in the hammock on the terrace and watching the birds. Also the free bike was great to go to school, for shopping and more. I could highly recommend Saigoncito to everyone and Jenny (also Nana and Helen) are very helpful and friendly.

Fall asleep to the sounds of the jungle and wake up to the sound of the waves. Our bright and simple cabins are built on 14 feet stilts to get you closer to the tree canopy and its wildlife - its feels like a tree-house, totally immersed in lush nature! Ideal for: surfers, beach lovers, explorers, day-dreamers! Outside of Bocas town (3.7mi) close enough for nights outs, groceries and tours but far enough for tranquility, privacy and secluded coves. Be barefoot & free!
Relax on your private deck, watch the wildlife, be captivated by the sounds and light of lush jungle around you. Enjoy your own fully equipped kitchen (mini-fridge, stove, utensils etc) with service hatch connecting the kitchen to the covered deck, where you could spend hours watching the wildlife, practicing yoga or just napping in a hammock. Get a restful night sleep in a queen size bed (orthopedic mattress, quality cotton sheets) protected by the square mosquito net above. Our "wow" factor is carefully designed luminous bathroom with walk-in jungle-view rain-water shower, that has an outdoor feel to it. High vaulted ceilings, numerous screened openings and roof sky-lights bring lots of light and gives an open and airy feel to the space. If you dream about relaxing with a book, captivated by nature all around, this is the place for you! Unfortunately this is not a place for you if you: * Have extreme phobia of insects * Require air-conditioning (we do have floor fans) or TV to feel at home * People with restricted mobility that are unable to walk up the stairs to the equivalent of first floor. We have designed our place with following eco-principles and hope you'll appreciate them too.. * construction of the cabins was planned around existing forest as not to cut down any tree or disturb canopy that is used by the wildlife as their "roads" and "bridges". * there is no trash collection so ingenious recycling is a must * all the water comes from the rain catchment system, good on your skin and the environment * grey water is returned back to water the garden (we use biodegradable laundry detergent) * biological septic tank is designed on "Watson & Wick" principles (where aerobic bacteria biodegrade waste) * all the wood for our cabins is locally sourced * reducing environmental impact: minimal use of cement, no grass lawns, no air-conditioning, LED lights only.. Our objective is to offer an unique, comfortable, sustainable place, right in the tropical forest to an independent travelers.
This is very green and peaceful area of the Island. Paunch surf break is 3 min walk, Tiger Tail break: 4 min. Bluff beach: unspoiled, amazing stretch of sand of 5 km long, where marine turtles come to lay their eggs (Apr-Aug) - 30 min walk. On our street you will also find two very local huts where indigenous Panamanian Gnabe Bugle people live.
  • Jane and Max are wonderful hosts. They communicate so well before hand you feel like you are ready to go when you arrive .They had special touches like a fresh flowers and tea and cold beer and fruit for our arrival. We had a true jungle experience. Our cabin was clean and efficient. We heard the howler monkeys each day and the ocean at night. We texted with them through our our two week stay if we needed anything. However they are on the property for anything important.

    Regina & Dan2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We'd read the good reviews, but none of them (or the pictures) did the cabin justice. Jane and Maxi were super easy to communicate with and gave us all the info we needed to find the place easily. The cabin itself is incredible, amazingly built and it has everything you could possibly need. It's off the beaten track and a proper jungle experience, but it's also not cut off from the rest of Bocas and it's really easy to go into town/the beach. We'd definitely stay there again if we were back in Bocas!

    Bettina2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • The property is a bit out of the way in the middle of the jungle. Maxi and Jane are super nice hosts. You gave us great tips.

    James2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Would you like to swap the sounds of the city for the sounds of nature? How about waking up to howler monkeys and bird calls (including the neighborhood roosters) rather than car traffic? Consider escaping the city scene and spend some time in the treehouses that Max and Jane have tucked into their jungle lot near Paunch Beach. Simple cabins on platforms raises guests into the jungle canopy to better enjoy the local flora and fauna. Max and Jane are great hosts, attentive and informative without being intrusive. Local knowledge was generously shared and 2 free cold ones, as well as basic supplies, awaited our arrival. Be sure to bring shoes or sandals that can get muddy or wet as it rains regularly to keep the surrounding jungle lush. We loved going native in style.

    Wendy2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • First of all, you really get the jungle experience at Paunch. A howler monkey was 5 meters from our kitchen window on our second day. We had a well appointed cabin with all the conveniences we needed. Our cabin was above a little stream. We slept to the lullaby of jungle sounds. There was a huge buttress tree in full view from our deck. Max and Jane are friendly, thoughtful, and always looking for ways to make your stay enjoyable. The local bus was okay, but we relied more on the local taxis. The rates were reasonable and the drivers were friendly. I would highly recommend this Airbnb if you are wanting to get away from it all. The cabins are away from the hustle and bustle of Bocas Town yet easy to reach in a few minutes. Totally relaxing. Lots to see and do. No regrets. Great experience.

    Alvin2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation was a dream and one of the best we had on our trip. The open design of the tree house really integrated us into nature and once we were even greeted by a horde of monkeys. Because there is nothing missing in the kitchen, we could enjoy our own breakfast on the cosy terrace. Although the location is quiet and beautiful, the way to the centre (supermarkets) can only be done by taxi, shuttle or bike. We really recommend this cabin :)

    Simone2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful retreat close enough to town for supplies and fun, far enough into the jungle to forget about the world. Everything we wanted in an idyllic retreat.

    Anna2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • The location of the cabins is an absolute dream. Been able to wake up everyday to the sight and noises of the jungle was a bliss! The cabins were very comfortable and included many amenities. Walking distance from the beach and restaurants. We highly recommend it!

This double suite is located at Los Balcones over the Sea, an over-the-water hotel with a private patio. Enjoy breakfast on the deck, relax in the water or take a kayak out for a tour around the island. We are located a short boat ride from the main town of Bocas del Toro, but we have everything you need on this island too. Beaches, surf, bars/restaurants and more!
Your room has a private balcony, as well as a large waterfront deck over the sea!
It should be noted that while the adjacent neighborhood is safe to walk through, it is an indigenous village where people live in a simple manner (likely, very different from the travelers who stay with us at the hotel). Please be respectful in understanding that Panama is a developing country and poverty is still present in many areas, although this should not impact your stay in any negative manner:)
  • Great hotel on the water. An awesome option if you are staying in town and want to check out isla carenero. Super easy to get a water taxi to and from their dock which makes for convenient transportation around bocas.

  • This was a hidden gem! Jorge was wonderful with communication so we knew right where to find him, and he met us at the bottom of road. Our 2 wheel drive rental could never have made it up, but there was an easy and safe place to park at the bottom. Once to the house, we were surprised by how lovely and clean it was! For an extra fee, Jorge's sister prepared us a wonderful dinner (which is important because there are NO restaurants closeby!!). The bed was comfortable and we slept well. Unfortunately, my husband was very sick the next morning (public service announcement- do NOT eat the empanadas at the PAC airport!!). I had business to attend to, and Jorge was nice enough to get some medicine for my husband and let him stay while I went to my meeting. The hospitality we were shown was wonderful! I highly recommend a stay with Jorge in his spotlessly clean casita!

  • Very good just take note that you can’t reach the structure with a small car, but the owner will take you on the main road, let you park the car, and drive you to the destination

  • Totally exceeding our expectations! It was a little ged to find the place, but Jorge and Yorleny were awesome hosts. They cooked dinner and breakfast for us and made us feel at home. Instead of taking the normal boats out of Almirante to Isla Colon, Jorge took us out in his boat. This was a much more personalized experience as we were able to fish and get information about all the islands we were passing. Jorge and Yorleny took us to both the Islas zapatillas and we spent the day snorkeling. Yorleny even prepared lunch and brought it out with us. Great hosts!

Alcibiades Apartment is a two bedroom apartment built over the water In Saigon Bay. This room has a double bed with a private bathroom. The rest of the house (kitchen, living room and terrace) is shared with a maximum of other two people. The beds have good mattresses and Wi-Fi. Alcibiades Apartment will make you feel right at home. This is by far the best budget Caribbean experience over the water in Saigon Bay!
Asibiades Apartment is located in the Saigon area. As many of the other houses it is built on the water. This is a very friendly neighborhood with a mix of locals and tourists blended together. The apartment is built over the water, so you see the water, you hear the water, but there is still a house in front of then you've just a partial view of the sea. The apartment is perfect for friends travelling together or small families. You will most definitely enjoy it! The apartment is just five minutes away from Bocas Town by bike. We rent bikes! Walking is about 20 minutes. A taxi is only $1 each person. Tony's Market, our closest supermarket is only two minutes away by foot. There are also a couple of beaches and restaurants nearby that are within walking distance. The house is owned by a local man named Asibiades and managed by us, just across the street.
We have beaches and supermarkets within walking distance and is in a quiet area away from the loud and noisy part of Bocas nightlife (but within short reach if you wish to join the fun!).
  • Very good relation cost quality!!! The location is excellent (10-15 min from the center walking and near the beaches). The communication was fantastic, considering I made the reservation last night. All the time they were predisposed to help me and they were very friendly! The room has a very comfortable bed, private bathroom and shower. Only the kitchen is shared - common space - I would return without a doubt!

We are so thankful for this unique view on Isla Pajaros (or also Bird Island) - a designated protected bird sanctuary.
Bocas del Toro: Bocas del Toro is the name given to a large province (a region of land including part of mainland Panama) as well as the archipelago (group of small islands) on the north Caribbean coast of Panama. Bird Island Bungalows is located on the main island, Isla Colon. We are uniquely located on the far (north) side of the island, removed from the noisy tourist zone, immersed in tropical jungle and beautiful beaches. Our side of the island: The far side of the island has a few unique destinations that you can travel to without heading all the way into town. While we have a small private beach here at Bird Island Bungalows and two other beautiful beaches within easy walking distance, there are other options just a short trip away. For a beautiful day at the beach, head to Playa Drago, where you can have a bite to eat and a beer or cocktail at one of the surf shacks and then enjoy the sun and sand. Playa Estrella (Starfish Beach) is named for the abundant starfish that can be seen on the bottom of the shallow, clear, calm turquoise waters. Make sure to bring snorkel gear! One of the more unique tours available on our side of the island is heading out to Bird Island. You can book a tour on Playa Drago with a local guide who will bring you by boat to go around the island and observe the unique birds that nest on the island. On calm days, you can even pass through the arches. In Town: In town, you can find restaurants, bars, street food shops, and everything in between. If you’re interested in other activities or tours, Bocas Town is the place to go. You can find half-day, full-day, or multi-day excursions and packages depending on what you’re looking for; activities include island-hopping, snorkeling, diving, and more. There are multiple companies selling the same or similar tours, so it’s best to ask around and find the best price for your chosen tour. Check out our Tours section for different options and recommended tours. Isla Carenero: The small island in between Isla Colon and Isla Bastimentos is mostly inhabited by locals and has only a small tourist area. Leaf Eaters Cafe is a beautiful place to have vegetarian/vegan food and fresh fish right on the water and enjoy the view of Bocas. The waters in Carenero are always calm and crystal clear, making it the perfect place to go for a swim or relax on the beach. Isla Carenero is best enjoyed during the daytime, since there are quite a few sand fleas that come out once the sun goes down. Isla Bastimentos: 75% of Isla Bastimentos is part of the Marine Reserve, so development is controlled and the island is less crowded than most others. There are no roads here, just one main sidewalk running through Old Bank, a small town area with a few shops and restaurants. Bastimentos has beautiful beaches, the most popular of which is Red Frog Beach. You can take a water taxi right to Red Frog Beach for $5-8/person. This beach is privately maintained (kept nice and clean) so there is a $3-5 entry fee. Once here, you can enjoy food and drinks from a few bars & restaurants and enjoy the large expanse of white sand. Depending on the weather, the water may be swimmable, but there is a strong current (which makes for great waves for experienced surfers!) Other nice beaches on Bastimentos include Palmar, Turtle Beach, and Polo Beach (great snorkeling!) Cayos Zapatillas: These two small islands are within the Bastimentos Marine Reserve and have no tourism infrastructure. If you book an island tour, they will usually be included. You can also hire a private boat to take you here (bring a cooler with drinks and food!) and enjoy the beaches in this secluded, pristine paradise. There is a $10 entry fee since the islands are within the Marine Reserve. Please ask our staff and we will be happy to help you book a local guide for your adventure.

The attention of the hosts and all the staff very warm and professional! Definitely a place to spend some quiet days and in the middle of nature!

The property is stunning and the nature around it was amazing. We were lucky to have calm sea and saw sting rays while snorkelling and sloths close by! Thank you Kat for being so attentive and your great hosting/super cooking !

  • We were a little nervous about what to expect of a small hotel in an isolated location, but Alex and Kat’s place exceeded our expectations and was absolutely stunning! We thought we would want to do some day trips around Bocas but Bird Island Bungalows was so beautiful, the food so delicious, and private beaches and a pool right at our doorstep made it very hard to leave! This is such a beautiful and serene spot, we frequently asked ourselves if it was even real. Kat and Alex are amazing hosts and we would love to visit again!

    Lily2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Alex and Kat are two of the most hard-working and genuine people I have ever met. We were received with such warmth and amazing hospitality that we extended our stay by an extra night (would have been far longer had we had the time!) Their place is beautiful and the focus on being as sustainable as possible is hugely commendable. The food was delicious, fairly priced and portions were very generous too! There’s kayaks, snorkels and surfing available. The walk to popular starfish beach is about 1hr 15mins through the forest. What more could you want! It is secluded and completely worth the effort to get there but definitely stay for more than a night to make it worth your while! If you want to save money and make your own way there it is possible but you need to be patient. You can get the local bus from Bocas Town main square which costs $2.5 and takes around 45mins. They supposedly leave every 30mins but this is definitely not always the case. Leave plenty of time though to make sure you can get on one of the free shuttles Alex and Kat run! A wonderful experience, thank you both so much!

  • This place is probably the best AirBnB hotel ever. Kat and Alex are lovely and helpful hosts. Kats meals are awesome and Alex drinks a great, too. The hotel is simple but very comfortable and clean. Very nice side information: the whole building is off the grid and they power everything with solar energy. The view on bird island every morning is just stunning. We can highly recommend this place.

    Frank2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • The place is wonderful and the hosts are lovely. If you are looking for a place to relax and disconnect, do not hesitate, this is what you are looking for. However, if you want a place from which to move and make visits to other islands, perhaps it is not the best. Although it is not far from Bocas, the road takes about 45 minutes by taxi. However, Boca del Drago and Playa Estrella are very close and you can go to spend the morning or day on your own. Kat's food is prepared with very good taste, it is delicious. Both Kat and Alex are always attentive so that you are at ease and enjoy your stay there. I would repeat without a doubt.

Are your dreams made of chocolate? Want to spot dolphins from your own private balcony as soon as you wake up? Go snorkeling, hike up the hill for amazing views, let the cacao forest enchant you or go paddling in a cayuco, a traditional wooden canoe made by the Ngöbe natives. Or get into a hammock & snooze like a sloth, or get out & spot some! At night, swim in the bioluminescent water, gaze at the countless stars or marvel at the sight of all the fireflies... Your next adventure begins here!
This is the perfect place for a romantic getaway, and a unique chance to spot dolphins right from your balcony & to spot several sloths in the backyard. We have more than 10 sloths on our property all the time, so it will be easy to at least spot a few. The breezy sea cabin has hammocks downstairs to assist with your relaxing. This open area is not shared with other guests for added privacy. There is a shared platform about 30 feet away from your room where you can hang out with other guests, if there are any. A lockable staircase leads to your cabin. Upstairs you'll find a double high quality mattress with optional mosquito net & cotton bed linnen. There is a screened in relaxing area with view of the garden (and the sea). You also have a breezy private terrace on the other side from where you can enjoy the wonderful view over Dolphin Bay. The bathroom for this cabin is located on land, a few steps from the other end of the dock. There is an outdoor bamboo shower, a pretty outdoor sink on a wooden platform outside & a flush toilet inside. Note we have a 2nd flush toilet for workers/visitors/volunteers in the same building. We have an extra cabin by the sea that can be set up with 2 single beds if you want to bring your friends to double the fun. The extra cabin is conveniently located above the bathroom area. The extra cabin has a private staircase outside leading to the balcony with seaview. Just like the main cabin, this room has sea view on both sides of the cabin. It can be booked for 30 USD per person.
Discover a different side of Bocas del Toro in Dolphin Bay... Enjoy the tranquil waters on the seaside & explore the jungle in the back, whether you're an avid birder or just an adventurous traveler. Finca Montezuma, our cacao (& much more) farm, is a spectacular place for lovers of the outdoors thanks to the rather unique bioluminescent water, the fireflies, the non-lightpolluted sky full of stars, the wildlife & the birds... Our guests have access to the shared walking trails of the Finca Buena Vida community through the jungle or to a small lagoon where you can spot caymans. We have another property close to the lagoon, where our private trail will lead you up the hill so you can enjoy wonderful views over Dolphin Bay with its many mangrove islands. Sloths hang out all around the property. We also get visits from howler monkeys in the jungle right behind the main house & at night we get to see kinkajous. These are wild animals so of course they decide when they show up. My best advice is to just go & explore and take your time to observe! Birders will love this place. These are a few of the birds that have been spotted here: gold-hooded tanager, mealy amazon, collared aracari, montezuma oropendola, slaty-tailed trogon, keel-billed toucan,... It's also becoming a little botanical paradise with many varieties of tropical flowers & fruit trees in our own garden & the common area. Some examples are cashew trees, jackfruit trees, mamey sapote, soursop trees, fig trees, a cinnamon tree, vanilla orchids, rose apples, 4 types of passion flowers including the giant granadilla (passiflora quadrangularis), butterfly gingers, calla lilies,... Snorkeling fans can also get their kicks here, our favourite little mangrove island in Dolphin Bay has a truly magical underwater garden with giant starfish, coral in all colours of the rainbow, fish, rays & impressive growth on the mangrove roots. There is another snorkeling spot you can access from the shore, wearing water shoes, after a 15 minute walk through an old cacao forest. Dolphin Bay itself has year-round calm waters & has a resident pod of bottlenose dolphins that have their own set of unique genetics compared to other bottlenose dolphins. The dolphin watching activities can at times be disturbing to them as in high season many boats come to see them at the same time without respecting their boundaries, so if you wish to see dolphins without taking part in these activities, this is the perfect place to start as you can see them right from your balcony or the shared deck without harassing them. There are a few good restaurants in the neighbourhood, but most need to be accessed by boat unless you are in pretty good shape & want to go by kayak or cayuco. On the opening days of these restaurants we often offer our guests a ride free of charge. We'll be serving you breakfast, fresh juices, chocolate desserts in our Jungle Café at the main house as well, and Papito or Dormelinda can make you a delicious lunch or dinner. Papito opened "Papito's Caribbean Bar" in August 2019 on a neighbouring property. He serves ice cold beer for 1.25 USD, ceviche, soup, fried fish with patacones,... at very reasonable prices. We have created a walking trail that will bring you there in 10 minutes, and you can also ask Papito to drop you off at the dock.
  • This is the ultimate off-the-Grid ocean meets jungle experience!!! Dorien and her staff are kind and exceptional hosts and very good cooks. We had breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and even my very picky 13-year-old daughter enjoyed the food! Papito was super kind and when I had a medical emergency was ready in a snap to help me get to a pharmacy off of the island for help. The chocolate farm is like something out of a storybook with beautiful trees and sloths and butterflies and a variety of other animals like howler monkeys and roosters and chickens and a couple of helpful dogs and a tricky cat that finds its way into the dining room! My daughter and a few other guests thoroughly enjoyed the chocolate farm tour and workshop and what my kid made was delicious!!! This is the perfect place for R&R. My girls stayed in the cabin overlooking the water and it was perfect. Bring a flashlight because you will need it to walk the property at night - even to the toilet- or if you decide to take a boat ride. Bug spray and sunscreen is also a MUST!! If you prefer the feel of “camping” over “glamping” this place is perfect for you, meaning your toes and fingers will get dirty, but the food, scenery, outdoor activities, kind hosts, weather variety, beautiful nature will cause you to love this side of heaven on earth. We stayed for four days and it was the perfect time for me and my younger daughter however my 16-year-old would have stayed there for a year as she loved the serene environment. We made some great memories there as a family and I’ll forever be grateful to Dorien, Bianka and Papito for making our stay a wonderful one!!!

  • One night stay with friends. The place is magic, far from everything but with the necessary comfort (delicious food and impeccable wifi). Ideal for those who want to get away from the noise and bustle of Bocas del Toro. We could see and hear nature at work: we saw two dolphins from our cabin on the water, bioluminescence before going to bed, a stingray during the night. We could admire the view and enjoy the sounds from the jungle (birds, insects, howler monkeys), a chance to reconnect with this rich nature. It is possible to explore the jungle alone but the best is to do it with a guide. For our part, Rogelio took us on a super tour during which we finally saw several sloths, red frogs and caimans. Dorien is very welcoming and good advice. Thank you for this unforgettable experience. Angeline & Melanie

  • We have fond memories of our stay in the cabin on the water. The place is conducive to rest and we enjoy it. The food is also excellent, and the rates are very fair. The only negative is the quality of the mattress, and dogs and cats are sometimes a little too present with customers. We shared it with Dorien. Remember that it is only possible to get around by boat, and that there are not too many choices of restaurants nearby. But the restoration of Dorien and Papito is perfect. A lot of activities are offered by Dorien and Papito but it remains a budget. We were also able to observe sloths and nice frogs.

    Marie2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay in the accommodation at Dorien and Papito. The accommodation is just a dream, the hammocks were great to relax in and in the morning we could even watch dolphins in the water. Dporien and Papito are great hosts. The food was great and the chocolate workshop was awesome. You have to make them when you are there. My friend stated that she is allergic to to sand flies. Be sure to cream yourself with coconut oil, which Dorien has provided for you. You'll have a lot of trouble with those annoying sand flies. We would come back anytime. Thanks again for your great hospitality :)

    Steffi2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend staying here!! It’s hard to describe how amazing Dorien and Papito’s place is. It’s unique, charming, and off the beaten path. Dorien’s chocolate tour is a must and the food is great as well. We kayaked, swam in the bioluminescent bay, saw sloths, and more. We didn’t do any other tours but I’m sure those would’ve been great as well and Dorien puts such thoughtful touches and her tips are spot on as well.

    Dhruv2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely breath taking and unforgettable. My only disappointment was that we where only able to stay one night due to our short trip. I would highly recommend Dorien and Papitos place to any fellow nature lovers. The bungalow is an experience, exactly as described and more (I wasn’t expecting electricity). Dorien and Papito gave us a ride to and from Almirante for an extremely reasonable price (other taxis quoted us 30$USD per person each way while D & P gave us a lift for 50$ USD round trip) we where met with charm and hospitality that instantly eased us into relaxation and a homey vibe. Dorien gave us a tour of of the chocolate farm and had such an extensive knowledge of not only chocolate making but also of the wildlife and plants. We where well fed at lunch and dinner and during our evening we where absolutely giddy as we hung out on the dock accompanied by their pup Blue. You could hear the evening chatter of the forest, the stars glowed, the water was like glass and sparkled from the bioluminescence. Gorgeous. Loved every minute.

    Dayna2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place is so beautiful. Absolutely calm and relaxing. Dorien answered super fast to all my questions. Unfortunately the weather was not so good but Dorien and Papito made the best out of it for us. In the farm you can see different plants and animals for example sloths. And in the morning we could so dolphins.

    Julia2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Papito and Doriens cacao farm. The cabin over the water was a awesome experience and we could perfectly relax in our hammocks over the nice water. It was great to canoe around. This airbnb is a perfect mixture between jungle and the sea. We also did a cacao adventure with Dorien which was very exiting, interesting and delicious. We totally recommend to stay at the Dorien&Papito’s farm with a special charme and many animals like sloths and mokeys! :-)

  • Travelling two months through Costa Rica and Panama it was up to now our best place to stay and for us worth beeing star-rated dinners. Karine is an outstanding cook!!! Also the excursions with Eric were fantastic. Go there - it is a MUST

    Thomas2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Karine and Eric made their own paradise in the mangroves which they shared with us. We stayed in the floating lodge 8 nights and it was perfect! The lodge is well equipped and everything was very clean. Karine's cooking skills are amazing... We loved her food!!! The two were perfect hosts! With Eric we did a lot of tours with his boat and they were incredible like dolphins watching, seeing sloths, driving to Bocas, the cave, red frog beach etc. He is such a funny guy and had every day a new adventure for us! The love to their two dogs I could not hide after the first day. So special greetings to Buffy and Arena😘. Thank you Karine and Eric for the perfect end of our stay in Panama!

    Tanja2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the floating lodge was a real highlight of our holiday. Karine and Eric are excellent hosts and nothing seems too much for them. Eric took us out in the kayaks to see the sloths and in the boat to dolphin bay. Karine’s food was amazing and their house is beautiful! A truly unique stay and our only regret is that we wish we could have stayed longer!

    Lily2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • This place met all our expectations and then some. From the easy communication, to transport very early in the morning, food and then lodging—all were superb. Karine’s cooking is beyond words. Her fruit smoothies, fresh jams, and cocoa cake were among our favorites. We had a blast in the kayak searching for area sloths (finding 2 adults and a baby). Paul had fun fishing from the dock each night and I had a blast on the paddleboard. This is NOT your normal vacation. But if you are looking to escape the world and have a change of pace- this is for you.

    Jami2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • Perfection! We spent two nights - far too few nights - at Floating Lodge, and loved every second. Karine and Eric are perfect hosts, attending to every possible requirement and filling the space with so much beauty and charm. Their assistance with local knowledge was invaluable and the amenities they provided allowed us to make the most of the area during our stay. I can honestly say that this is THE GREATEST AIR BNB WE HAVE EVER STAYED AT. We will return and we highly recommend!

    Jennifer2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • We spent 6 unforgettable days with Karine and Eric. The two have built their little paradise, where they let us participate. Eric picked us up in Almirante and took us by boat to Floating Lodge. He showed us sloths and dolphins on excursions. Karine is a great hostess and excellent cook. We were looking forward to dinner every day. The sea at the lodge is usually very quiet and ideal for swimming as well as for excursions by SUP or kayak. Eric also drove us to Bocas Town one day and picked us up there. We then rented e-bikes and went to Bluff Beach, which was very worthwhile. If you want to spend a few days in peace away from streets, shops, people, noise, etc., is just right.

    Teresa2019-12-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay with Karine and Eric. Both of them are very friendly and courteous as hosts. From the pick-up at the harbour to the return to the harbour (after 4 days) everything worked out super and uncomplicated. We could borrow the kayak and the SUP at any time. At breakfast we discussed the day and organized the offered tours. Everything went smoothly. The small tour through her self-created paradise is also worth experiencing. From a culinary point of view we were absolutely spoiled. Karin has responded to our wishes and even considered our preferences when choosing the food. The homemade coconut jam for breakfast was our highlight to start the day. Karin bakes the brioche herself and also all jams are made by herself. We were very well fed! Karine and Eric try so hard that the stay becomes something very special. With us, the two have more than succeeded and we can only recommend them to others. Many thanks to both of you for this unforgettable experience.

    Verena2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • The Airbnb of Eric and Karine is the best Airbnb we ever had! Such an unique experience! The apartment is cozy and romantic. Eric and Karine are lovely people who do their best to make you feel at home. Eric knows a lot about the area (showed us sloths and dolphins) and Karine is a great chef! We would recommend this stay in Bocas del Toro. Definitely the best Airbnb we ever had (and we have had a lot :))!

For excursions, fishing ask Steve he knows the people you need ... A mobile phone in the house to call the taxis boat (present 3 minutes later). And also his faithful Niňa, an adorable dog. Thank you for this unforgettable stay

  • This house is fantastic. We travel a lot and we found a wonderful place with steeve. Everything is perfect: steeve, the house, and especially the site which is one of the best in Bocas del Toro. You are close to the city and at the same time in a beautiful and above all very quiet location. The private beach is one of the most beautiful we have seen. Steeve gave us very good advice and great plans for exclusive visits and far from tourist outings. Do not hesitate and book this house you will be very happy. Steeve thank you again very much

    Alexandra2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Steve is the PERFECT host! As Airbnb hosts ourselves we’re very picky and Steve is the best we’ve ever had! SO hospitable, always on hand for any questions but not overbearing. The location is AMAZING, we stayed in Bocas town for part of our trip and Steve’s was so much better - it’s $2pp taxi boat and Steve left us a cell phone so we could call the dispatch office any time day or night. He’s on a great bit of the island, has kayaks and loungers for use, a dock right out front and the perfect sunset view. We can’t wait to come back again, it’s the perfect spot!

    Sam2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Steve and niña are awesome hosts. The cabin is a great place to relax with nice amenities, a washer and dryer are very appreciated, nicely decorated and super comfy beds. Our only regret is not booking the cabin longer.

    Tanya2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Steeve is a great host ! He provided precise directions information as his place is not on any Map even provided a phone to call water taxi. The cottage description is accurate with enough room for 4 to 5 pax. The terrace is fantastic for dining/tea time ans the beach is 50 m away. Stayed with 2 young kids.

    Cécile2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Ideal and quiet location to know this beautiful archipelago. The wooden house is very comfortable. Unforgettable breakfasts on the swing next to the sea. And Steve, an excellent host, always willing to help and make the stay as pleasant as possible.

    Kristi2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing cottage at great location for stay at Bocas del Toro! Steve is a perfect host - very helpful with any questions we had.

  • Staying a Casa Palmera was the best experience that we had during our month stay in bocas. The house is so clean and well equipped, an amazing value. The location is so great, quiet, away from a lot of noise but just a 2 dollar pp boat ride to bocas town for any provisions you might need. The little beach front is well kept and beautiful, nice swim spot to cool down during the afternoons. The kayaks were asemos to go explore the island. I could go on about how much we loved this place! The best part of our stay was visiting with our hosts Steve and Niña (his dog). They were welcoming and helpful, warm and hospitable! They made it feel like home. Both my husband and I would recommend staying here to experience the islands! We hope to go back and visit soon!

Rafael’s House is an original Caribbean house, located in the heart of Bastimentos Town, called Old Bank. The house is basic but complete with a full kitchen ready to go. You will feel right at home at Rafael's House! This is the smaller of the two bedrooms with double bed. That's mean you may share the bathroom and the common areas of the house with a maximum of other two guests. You have the greatest outdoor Living Room over the water, just steps away from your place. GENIAL!
It will not be hard to find Rafael's House on Isla Bastimentos. Rafael has lived here his entire life and he is known by everyone on the island. Rafael's house is situated right on Main Street, just meters away from the Park, the favorite hangout for the local people. Close by you will find one of the two supermarkets, various waterfront restaurants and bars, the Police Station, the hospital and public phones. This is also a nearby dock to catch a boat back to Bocas. You are truly in the center of Bastimentos Town! The front porch of Rafael's House gives you first class view on Main Street. From your hammock you witness all the daily activities that take place in the lives of the local people living around you. Soon you might pick up some of the local language Guari Guari: "Whappin man!" In the mean time enjoying the numerous hummingbirds visits to Rafael's tropical garden. If you're looking for some more privacy, the balcony behind the house is surrounded by palm trees and has sea view on Bastimentos Bay and Isla Solarte. This is the perfect place to enjoy your freshly blended fruit shake, with or without Abuelo rum. Or just a nice and cool Balboa beer! Rafael's kitchen is fully equipped, ready for some of your own Home cooking. All cookware and utensils are present, as well as the blender, coffeemaker and toaster. Rafael's House has a large living-area, with a dining area and comfortable chairs. The bathroom has a warm water shower. There are two bedrooms. Both have a double bed with semi- orthopedic mattresses, Sky TV and a security box. In the living area are two extra single beds and Sky TV. There's Wireless Internet. Rafael's House has two bedrooms and sleeps up to 4 people. The is basic but complete with a full kitchen ready to go. You will feel right at home at Rafael's House! If you want to find out what life in Panama's paradise is like, stay at Rafael's House on Isla Bastimentos and find out!
We're proud to say this houses were built by locals in the local way. Our regular staff is local people, born and raised in the island. If you like simple life and you want to know what life is like in Bocas del Toro, come to Bastimentos and find it out! It could sound funny for some of you, but we should advice that if you don't like mosquitoes no place in the Caribbean is good for you; if you are scared of gekos or small ants, our place may not fit for you as is surrounded by a lush garden and they sneak in sometimes; if you din't want to interact with locals, definitely this is not the right choice; if you're looking for something different than simple life, maybe our properties are not made for you.
  • The accommodation was very nice and cozy. The kitchen is well equipped, even with a blender. It is no problem to share the kitchen and the bathroom and above all the cozy balcony with hammock. The location is also great and it is not far to the boat where you can get to other islands.

  • Sebastian and Aaron created a wonderful oasis in paradise. Our favorite place in Bocas, an absolute gem. Comfy bed, hot shower, great kitchenette, outstanding beach and restaurant! We loved our whole experience.

  • After spending a month bouncing all around Bocas and staying in various locations this was hands down our favorite place. We fell in love with Palmar. Red frog beach is the nicest beach in bocas. Perfect waves, sand, and crystal clear water. The food was fantastic and the staff was all very friendly. Take a walk to polo beach one day for some snorkeling and some more great food! The bungalow was absolutely perfect. We already can't wait to come back! Thanks again for everything!

  • Palmar beach lodge exceeded our expectations! We stayed in a bungalow with AC and it was perfect. It was steps from the ocean and in the middle of the jungle. If you love nature and the beach this is the place for you!! The food was also amazing and super affordable, can't beat $2 beers and on happy hour they are 2 for 1. Every staff member seemed to truly love their job and they were always happy to help. We had the pleasure to make friends with Ricardo who was super helpful throughout our whole stay! Walter and Jim made a lasting impression as well. Again the whole staff was amazing! We carried all our luggage in backpacks which I would highly recommend due to the walk through the jungle from the boat dock to the lodge. This walk was one of my favorite parts but would not be fun with big luggage. We got to see monkeys, sloths and caimans on the path 🙂 hopefully we can return to Palmar Beach Lodge.

  • From the express reservation the communication with Simon was quick and simple. Upon arrival Leo (the manager) supported me at all times with everything I needed, his recommendations were essential to enjoy Bocas to the fullest. Beverlys Hill is located in Bastimentos, but it feels super private and away from the hustle and bustle. A delicious place to rest :)

  • Cami is a nice person and very quickly replies to all messages. Even she was not at the place during our stay, she was fully reachable by the app. Juanco welcomed us in the morning and we had our room ready before the check in time! (That was great after 12h spent in the bus from Panama City.) The place is not in the Bocas Town, so you can really relax out there, and it’s just 1$ for getting to the town by taxi. There is a very nice kitchen area so you can bring your food and cook a bit, or if not enjoying cooking you can go next door to the camping and buy something there. To sum up, I really enjoyed the stay :)

    Maria2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • I really like the place of Cami and Juanco - they are so nice and very helpful with giving tipps :) The room was very clean and you had everthing you need - there are nice flowers in the little garden and a kitchen where you can store your stuff and also sit and relax. If you are searching for a more quite location a bit far from bocas town, this is your place - only the neigbours are sometimes a bit loud with cars, machines, kids and dogs- but for me that was no problem and during the night it was always quiet. There is a small beach 100m away and you can walk or drive to Bluff beach easily from the location - also there are taxis and busses right in front of the door. As well a super small supermarket is next to the camping right, where you can buy water. Thanks for being such a good host - Bocas del Toro is so beautiful and I already miss it!

    Britta2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • the place of cami and her fiancé was much better than expected: sparkling clean and very hard-working hosts. everything I needed for my well-being - extra towels, extra water pot - came immediately. and in the end the host very kindly helped me to get to the shuttle in time - I felt in very good hands. because the place is outside of bocas, it is very quiet - the garden is closed and not visible, so that I could get a good rest when I came "home". the bedroom is very small, but nicely done - and it was big enough to sleep :-) thanks cami !!! soana

    Soana2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • We loved it! The room and bathroom are clean and spacious, the garden and kitchen space are spacious and the location is ideal! We drive by bike to go to town and pass taxis at all times. We were met by Cami's boyfriend, Juanco, who was very helpful and considerate. Recommended!

    Malena2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location! Taxi only 1$ to the city, Cami is really quick to answer if anything, it better then a hotel for the service! Me and my girl friend loved it, the kitchen is some how really romantic. For the price it’s really good honestly. Thank you Cami!

    Matthias2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and nice place to stay, better than expected! I especially have to praise the open kitchen as it was the first one that also invites you to cook! Taxis come by on the street corner and drive you to the center for a dollar. The bus stop is also in front of the door. Communication with Cami was great! All in all, I was very happy

    Stanko2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet, safe space just outside of the busy center. I booked this place because I wanted to be in a quiet place at night, but close enough to where I could get into town quickly. The cab rides were only a dollar between here and town, and the bus $5 each way to Bocas Del Drago/Playa Estrella passes in front of the space. Taxis also pass by on a regular basis so I found the location to be super convenient. The WiFi was good too! The space was sparkling clean, and the kitchen area is large and open-air, equipped with all necessary things for cooking meals. I had no trouble with mosquitos and the fan was perfect for me because it cooled off at night. I woke up to the sounds of hummingbirds every morning. Peaceful place. Cami was an exceptionally responsive host and when I had troubles with opening the gate she sent someone right away to fix it. I was attended by her mother in law, Lurli, who was ever so kind and helpful. She made me feel at home and safe as I was the only person staying at the location at the time. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for an affordable, private room outside of the busy center of town.

    Angela2019-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • I had a nice stay at Cami's place. The room is simple but nice and is a great value. It's away from town a little bit so it's quieter but only until about 9am when the mechanic shop next door opens (only on weekdays). The kitchen is very nice and although Cami was out of town she was always checking in to make sure I had everything I needed. Ants were a bit of an issue but I think that's a problem all over Bocas and a quick spray with vinegar will make them leave. Overall I would recommend. Thanks Cami!

Beautiful island home on Isla Colon in Bocas Del Toro with 1 RENTABLE ROOM ON THE MAIN LEVEL. The ocean and a swimming beach are only 100 yards from the house! Night life and restaurants in town are only 2 miles away and the surfing beach is only a 10-minute bike ride from the house. Beautiful vegetation surrounds the property and jungle is in the backyard so you can see and hear the howler monkeys!
Casa Oceana has just undergone a complete renovation of our guest rooms. Top of the line memory foam mattresses, linens, pillows, and bathrooms. We, the property owners, live upstairs, so we can assist you with anything you need: Snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing, surfing and any eco tours you may be interested in. The guest rooms have air conditioning, wireless internet, televisions with access to Netflix, and DVD players. We also have a complete DVD library, books, and board games for your entertainment. The food at Casa Oceana is what sets us apart. Wil is an award-winning chef with over 35 years of experience from Hong Kong to London and almost every city in America. Wil has appeared on various travel shows, cooking shows, and online media interviews. Wil and his wife, Annie, have a deep passion for hospitality and will provide a memorable experience for everyone!
The beach is 100 yards from the house. The water is about 80 degrees and wonderful for tanning or swimming (tide permitting). We are only a short bike ride away to great surfing, restaurants and Bocas town. As for the property, it has a beautiful deck, lush scenery, and amazing wildlife and vegetation. This house is also in the perfect location on the island! We are close to town, but far enough to be quiet and private.
  • Wi and Anne are what other AirBnB hosts should strive for. They have a beautiful property. It's just the right location - far enough outside of town so it's quiet but still convenient. It's a one minute walk to the beach. Every morning we saw howler monkeys, parrots, and iguanas while eating breakfast. More important than the property are Wil and Anne's attention to hospitality. It ranks up there with any luxury hotel which isn’t surprising given their background working in and owning those types of properties. Wil is a world class chef. His breakfasts were one of the highlights of our trip to Panama and Costa Rica. We highly recommend you stay with Wil and Anne. You will not be disappointed. These guys could host in a tent and we'd still happily stay with them.

    Charles2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a great time staying at Wil's place. It was very clean and we enjoyed the breakfast every morning and the great conversation. The jungle surroundings were beautiful and we enjoyed riding the bikes every day in the beautiful sunshine. The beaches and beauty in nature is what drew us to Bocas and it did not disappoint. The tours you recommended exceeded expectations and were well worth it. The hike to Blue Lagoon was good, but it was pretty hard, I'm so glad you suggested taking extra water. Seeing monkeys, sloths, parrots, and iguanas was fun too. We really enjoyed eating at Skully's, but our favorite place is Ultimo Refugio in Bocas Town, that was an excellent recommendation also. Thanks again for making our week so enjoyable!

  • Excellent place to stay. Super recommend

    Artur2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation is not in the center of Bocas del Toro and is therefore very nice and quiet. Will is a great cook and makes an exceptional breakfast. He also gives great tips to explore the surrounding area and Colon fantastic.

    Isabelle2019-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, what can we even say about our stay this weekend with Will. he went above and beyond in order to make our stay as comfortable as possible. from keeping the bed and bathroom clean, organized and well stocked, he made sure we felt at home in his home. he suggested numerous restaurants and attractions we should invest in our time in Bocas Town. he made sure we made the most of every experience we had. the breakfast was exceptional, there are seriously no words. i cannot stress enough that you should stay here. well worth the investment. Great ambiance, AMAZING BREAKFAST cooked by Will himself and the best hospitality you will find. 100% will recommend and hope to be back! THANK YOU WIL!

  • If you are planning to visit Bocas Del Toro, there is no better place to stay than Casa Oceana. The hosts Anne and Wil are simply amazing. They went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and happy on multiple occasions. Their home and guest rooms are impeccably clean and comfortable. The accommodation is located a one minute walk from a perfect swimming beach and a very quick cab ride into town. The breakfasts prepared by Wil, a retired chef, were by far the best food we ate on the island and likely our entire time in Panama.

    Kelcie2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Anne and Wil are gracious hosts that were very helpful and kind. Our room was clean and comfy with everything you need and more. Wils food is the best on the island. We even got to eat a four course dinner when they hosted a dinner for the locals. The bikes were fun to take to Skullys restaurant for an afternoon too. Anne and Wil are also very knowledgeable of the islands so don’t hesitate to ask them anything. Overall, a great, safe place to stay. Thanks!

    Sarah2019-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • Anne & Wil were excellent hosts! We received a warm welcome and had the pleasure to meet her three loving dogs. The accommodation was very large, detailed and nicely decorated. Anne and Wil have always looked after our well being, were very friendly and helpful. The highlight here was our morning breakfast, which was really remarkably good. We can only recommend a stay with the two :)

Video: https://youtu.be/ANO0Et2sHDU 2 bedroom treehouse built around a huge tree & overlooking the lush jungle & garden in a hidden setting. Artistically designed & comfortable; welcoming romantic souls, nature lovers & the adventurous. Enjoy nature in the harmony of an eco environment; ocean breezes, sound of waves, bird songs & monkeys. Spectacular sandy beaches are only steps away. Surf, swim, bike, explore & live the adventure!. (2nd TREEHOUSE: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/19376873?
The tree house is open to nature. The beds are shrouded in a mosquito net. You will experience the wonder of the jungle and all the spectacular birds, tree frogs, monkeys and other creatures that inhabit this part of the world and surround the treehouse. Located in the jungle across the road from the ocean. This feels like a secret hideaway. You are hidden by the jungle yet surrounded underneath the treehouse by a sunny garden. The treehouse feels very secluded. A magnificent sandy beach is just a 4 minute walk from the property. The ocean is pristine clean and always warm. The ocean changes regularly. It can be as calm as a lake or have spectacular waves. You can snorkel and surf. There is much to do and explore in this area. We are a 15 minute walk to Bluff beach, which offers miles of quiet sandy shore line, beautiful beaches and great restaurants. Biking is very popular and offers access to many adventures on the island. We encourage mountain biking and will help you with finding incredible trails and secluded beaches. PLEASE NOTE THE TREEHOUSE IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR CHILDREN UNDER AGE 10 FOR SECURITY REASONS.
We are within close proximity to some excellent restaurants and three beach bars. Some of the best surf spots on the island are within walking distance. A great way to explore is to rent a bike, ATV or golf cart. There is much to explore and many hidden gems to be found. We are a 20 minute taxi ride to the Bohemian town of Bocas, where you will find a variety of good restaurants, boutique shops and night life. There are also 2 mini buses (the Bluff Bus) which pass our property every 40 minutes, travelling to town in one direction and to Bluff beach the other way. Bluff beach is a short bike ride away or a 15 minute walk. Our closest beach, which is stunningly beautiful, is a 4 minute walk down the road from the property and you will often find yourself all alone on it.
  • One of my best friends and I stayed in Diane’s Jungle Treehouse and it was by far one of our favourite stays through out our entire trip in Panama! The treehouse itself is so beautiful, not to mention the location - we easily could walk to the beach, swim and find places to eat. Diane was so friendly and helpful with suggesting places to go during our stay, and responded to any questions we had very quickly. I would highly recommend staying here - it’s truly such a unique and beautiful experience! I hope to visit again during my next trip to Panama :)

    Kate2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Diane & Todd's place is absolutely incredible! The design alone is breathtaking of course, but the real treat is the nature that surrounds you. On 2 days we had monkeys swinging through the trees next to our treehouse! We heard the howler monkeys each morning and saw a variety of birds, frogs, and the most huge crickets I have ever seen! It was amazing! The treehouse itself is beautiful inside and out---the space is perfect for playing some cards while waiting out the rain like we did. The kitchen is equipped to cook, and although we did not make any meals, I loved that we had the kettle to boil water for tea, as I used that daily. The bed was super comfortable and just being surrounded by nature was so peaceful. The shower is gorgeous and such an incredible experience. I initially didn't like the cold water, but got used to it and it was refreshing! The treehouse was also immaculately clean. Soap, shampoo, dishsoap, towels, etc are provided. There was a minor issue our first day with water not coming through to the shower head and Todd rectified it immediately. Bed was comfortable and waking up to the sights and sounds of nature, including hearing the waves crashing in the distance is an experience we will not soon forget! A few tips: bring good-soled shower shoes or flip flops----I had a cheap pair to walk to the shower and the rock walkway was a bit slick at times walking back, mostly because my shoes were wet and the soles didn't have traction. Ask Todd for directions to the cave on the property---absolutely worth the small hike to get there (you can spend about 30 min there). If you go for a run or walk, one of their dogs Mogli may join you! We loved it when he trotted along with us! Rent a quad----we rented bikes the first day but renting the ATV allowed us to explore more of the island. Also bring beach towels as the towels provided were for showering only. We would not hesitate to stay with Todd & Diane, Mogli & Baloo again!

    Anne2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Defies all expectation- you will not be disappointed! This is the real deal, no platform on stilts or a cabin ‘near a tree’ this is a real treehouse!

    Peter2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Unique experience. The shower under or on the tree is sensational - if only with cold water. A bit of a thirst for adventure is part of it. If you let yourself in for the experience, you can really enjoy the whole thing. Hearing the animals and the sea at night is a dream. We slept very, very well; only the beds are a bit small - but very comfortable.

    Christian2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful sleeping with a family of howlers resting in the trees . A wonderful place near the best beach of the island .

    Stéphane2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • the tree house is awesome! we had four adults and it was a bit tight quarters but it was magical! we saw lots of birds and could hear the howler monkeys ever day! It rained every day and night we were there so we just watched the jungle in all it's glory!

    Liz2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • What a place! Maybe not for everyone, but if you have any sense of adventure you will love it. My barely grown up kids loved it ("a bit like glamping," one said), and they're hard to please. This tree house is absolutely ingenious in design and has a ton of elegant little touches. It is only exceeded, perhaps, by the unbelievably clever outdoor shower. Diane and Todd know what they're doing; great hosts.

    Al2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely unique stay! Can't recommend Diane's treehouse highly enough. Fantastic treehouse on its own in the jungle so completely private. Wake to the sound of monkeys and watch them swinging from surrounding trees. Far less bugs than expected, but great mozzie nets over beds to protect you. Nice breeze so easy to sleep. Great kitchen facilities (2 gas rings, sink, fridge) with condiments, pans, plates etc. Flushing toilet in the treehouse, then separate bathroom with shower across the bridge. Decent wifi! Lots of good places to eat within 20 mins walk, very dark at night so suggest breakfast and dinner in the treehouse as you'll want to spend time there - we recommend at least 3 nights. Less than 10 mins walk to lovely sand beach (note it's a surf beach with big waves so unconfident swimmers may only be paddling). There are further treehouses on the property if this one is booked up.

  • Everything was perfect, Mauricio was very attentive and friendly. We especially liked the blender and the Italian expresso machinetta that allowed us to make great breakfast!

    Charlotte2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • At first it feels that it is a little far from the center and knowing the island in reality the location is well recommended for people who like to prepare food. Fully recommended

    Ricardo2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • A clean, quiet place with privacy. A bit far from the center but you can walk and get there in 5 minutes.

  • It was great!! Probably the place that will leave us the best memories of our trip. The apartment is in front of the mamallenas, an incredibly beautiful hostel where it is possible to swim, with blue water and balencoirs. We spent all our time at the Mamallenas but we were very happy to meet our apartment at night. Maurizio is also great! We arrived very late at night and he came in his pajamas on his 4 wheels welcome us! Thanks again :)

    Zoé2019-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • The view from the apartment is great, and the interior is very spacious and modern. At the end apparently the key to the building was missing even though all the other keys were on the keychain. The receptionist was the last person to see them so be wary of who you hand your keys to I guess?

    Connor2019-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • A little out of the way of the major strip, but that makes for an easy walk and a quieter stay. We enjoyed our stay, and felt it was a good value.

Surfari Bocas is close to restaurants and dining, nightlife, family-friendly activities, the airport, water-taxis, and great views. You’ll love Surfari because of its proximity to everything, the ambiance, and the beautiful ocean view Terrace. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families. Apartments only have private kitchen and TV cable.
  • All good and as shown on the pictures. The space is huge and it can easily fit 4 ppl. With nice balcony where you can smoke.

  • The complete surfari department is an excellent option to meet mouths, to be able to enjoy excellent comforts and to have a good attention and costs much less than all the other options of that level, 100% recommended.

  • This place is very well located and the truth, very good for the price. The apartment I used was very spacious, clean and with the essentials to live and share with several people. In addition, Thomas is most attentive and relaxed. I highly recommend it

  • Surfari is a hostel 4 blocks from the pier Bocas del Toro, very close to all the necessary places on the island. Although it is a hostel it has private apartments that have everything you need for a good stay. A plus are the recommendations on the board, pay attention! Thomas is very kind. I will stay there again if I return to the island.

The studios are equipped with a comfortable queen size bed, a private bathroom with hot shower, a kitchenette with a small fridge, cooker and oven, cookware and utensils, so you have everything needed to make yourself a nice meal. The balcony offers sea view and gorgeous sunsets, so you can kick back and relax, and watch all sorts of fish swim by. The studios are about 26sqm in size, the lofts are twice the size. Adjacent to the house with private studios and lofts is also a communal area, where you can hang out with others when you feel like socializing. There is also a bigger communal kitchen, available to all guests, and we sometimes have spontaneous communal dinners and other sorts of gatherings. There is a pool table and we just got a new addition - a ping pong table.
El Colectivo de Saigon is located on the main island Isla Colon in Bocas del toro. We are right on the water of Saigon bay and just across the street of Ismito beach, with a 100 meters in between both waters... You literally just cross the street to get to the beach. We are away from the town center's noise but still close to its services, so the locations really gives you best of both worlds... You can walk to town, starting by the beach, and continuing through a quiet neighbourhood, or walk through lively Saigon bay village. Depending on your pace and leg length, it takes 10 to 15 min. Alternatively, you can go by bicycle or grab a taxi or colectivo bus. There are several beaches you can walk or cycle to, or take a boat to other islands. The lovely bus ride to Bocas del drago takes about 30 mins from where you can continue the beautiful walk to Playa de estrellas. There is a nice yoga place in town and is very reasonably priced with classes 5 days a week. SeVeral dive centers offer a variety of options and agencies offer day trips to various places. There are plenty of different kinds of restaurants and bars both in town and in our neighborhood. Our neighbourhood is laid back and gives you an insight into local Carribean every day life.
  • The place is very beautiful, made entirely of wood, giving it a rustic and unique touch. Although it is far from the center, it is easy to find a taxi or bus to get to and from the accommodation.

  • This place has a stunning view. We loved sitting out on the balcony every morning and evening. We spotted so many fish in the clear water. It is very well located being across the road from the beach or a 20 minute walk ($2 taxi ride) from town. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need for basic cooking. The bed is very comfortable. Great response from Daniel. They are both very friendly and helpful. We truly enjoyed our 2 week stay there.

  • The lodging is incredible, it has a spectacular ocean view. It is all rustic in wood, excellently equipped. With the fans and the sea breeze is more than enough for the heat. It is about 15min walk from the center. Daniel is a great host!

    Diego2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at Daniel and Tanja’s. Our room was clean and we had all the amenities we needed. Our hosts provided helpful information, quickly took care of any needs. We found the cultural differences in Bocas stimulating and highly recommend this rental.

  • The structure is built entirely in well-worked and clean wood our room overlooks the sea nice smoking on the terrace enjoying a wonderful view

  • Great location, great house and great host - would definitely recommend!

    David2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation is not in the center of the village, but is very nice, right on the water. Taxis, if you get one, get you quickly into the center. Then there are some restaurants and very soon a supermarket in the area. The accommodation has its very own style, which comes across very well in the pictures. Everything is clean and set up so that you can easily cook for two people. The balcony and the view are simply a dream!

This secluded loft-style treehouse sits on stilts above the water, 30 feet from our colorful coral reef. Transparent and airy but bug proof walls let you enjoy the fresh ocean breeze and views while keeping you safe and cozy. When a sloth comes to visit, no need to leave the house to see him! Blend in with the surroundings of mangrove, lagoon and jungle, and enjoy water and reef access from your own deck. Bright and airy, 100% eco-conscious.
Located on the southern tip of Isla San Cristobal, a remote and tropical island, with no roads. Here you will find a healthy coral reef and 55 acres of jungle for you to explore. The Mangrove Treehouse is a loft-style house perched above the water and tucked in amongst the mangroves. The transparent and bug-proof walls offer a stunning 360 degree view of the lagoon and the back yard jungle. The house is a split level design, that can accommodate up to 5 people. Upstairs is a king sized bed surrounded by curtains for your privacy, there is also a hammock there for your ultimate relaxation, that can be exchanged for a single bed for the 5th guest. On the ground floor, there is a king sized convertible couch, perfect for a second couple or your kids. The kitchen is equipped with a propane stove, a fridge and the basic kitchen necessities should you decide to cook for yourself. If you would like to join us on the communal dock, we offer group meal services upon request, menus depend on available local ingredients and the taste of our guests. There is a small bathroom within the house for your convenience. In order to protect the reef however, we encourage the use of the composting toilet outside- for your longer bathroom visits ;) The bamboo shower is also outside, with 180 degree view of the surrounding jungle. Please bring Bio-degradable soap, and be conscious of water and electricity use, as we are all sharing our rain catchment and solar system.
This neighborhood is WILD! You really become PART of the eco-system when you stay at CocoVivo. We take sharing this paradise very seriously and we want to keep it comfortable for our animal neighbors too. The fish, the dolphins, the sloths, the howler monkeys, the herons, the parrots, the kinkajous and the iguanas were all here before us, and luckily still are. Please be conscious of trash you bring; remember that cold beer and soda are available for a reasonable price, in bottles that will be reused. No need to bring beer/cans/plastic bottles. Most sunscreens can harm the coral reef; if you plan on using sunscreen when snorkeling, swimming, or kayaking, please bring reef-safe sunscreen or ask us for it.
  • Such a unique and charming place! There is everything you need to have a comfortable and relaxed time. It feels secluded but you are just a couple of blocks to the beach. Wonderful food nearby. The beds are comfortable and Elisabeth is a great hostess!

    Jason2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I absolutely loved this place. We were so sad to leave. El’Capitón is so sweet. He hung around and even went on a kayak ride with us. I wanted to steal him and take him with us. Coco Vivo is a very special place and we will for sure make our way back. Thank you so much!

    Lacey2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • A really extraordinary experience! The area really lets you relax and offers many activities. The hosts are super warm and it was really hard for us to go again!

    Ronja2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • The room and location were great! Just make sure to bring plenty of bug spray. DEET free is best to maintain the eco friendly vibe. Works much better than you’d think! The atmosphere, views, and room were just amazing. But our favorite part were the cooks, how friendly and accommodating they were, and their insights on the region to make sure we had an amazing time. And their food, just incredible! Honestly, there is much more to go on about with just the wildlife alone, but I won’t spoil everything. Only counsel is to be mindful of the many beautiful urchins and the occasional jelly fish when snorkeling on the property.

    Ryan2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • The place is beautiful, charming and the huts are clean and organized. Melissa and her husband are excellent and made the accommodation special by taking care of every detail. The food is without a doubt the best we have eaten in all of panama with a varied menu and good drinks to close I would definitely return

    Nelson2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • I could not describe how amazing this place and people are; everything was beyond our expectations. My boyfriend and I rented the Mangrove Treehouse which was very private, had a great outdoor shower, and was well decorated and very clean. There is also a great little dock out from the Treehouse that was nice for reading and to swim from (just dont stand until its deep enough.) Melisa and Luciano were our hosts, Melisa was very helpful with any questions, made great drinks, and was overall the sweetest person. Luciano made the best food with a great fresh breakfast and a 3 course dinner that was fantastic. Leo also provided the boat transport and was very friendly and helpful. While we were there we swam nightly to see the beautiful bioluminescents, went paddle boarding with the property dog (so cute), snorkeled the gorgeous coral reef that was very close to the main cabin area, jumped from the upper diving area, and hung out on all the swings and hammocks. We were on the island for 3 nights but wished we had at least one more day! I cant wait to revisit one day!

    Lisa Marie2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is a magical place with great hosts. You will not be disappointed by booking this location. Some of the best coral reefs right outside your dock! Wildlife abound and delicious food prepared by an Argentina couple who go out of their way to make sure everything is perfect. Don’t wait, Book this place!!

Rafael’s Sleep Inn is an original Caribbean house, located in the heart of Bastimentos Town, called Old Bank. It has two en-suite bedrooms (one has a double plus a bunk bed and the other has a double plus two single beds). The house is basic but complete with a full kitchen ready to go. You will feel right at home at Rafael's Sleep Inn! You have the greatest outdoor Living Room over the water, just steps away from your place. GENIAL!
It will not be hard to find Rafael's Sleep Inn on Isla Bastimentos. The front porch of Rafael's Sleep Inn gives you first class view on Main Street. Rafael's Sleep Inn has a large living-area, with a dining area and comfortable chairs. The bathrooms has a warm water shower. There are two ensuite bedrooms. Both have one double plus singles or bunk beds with semi-orthopedic mattresses, Sky TV and a security box. There's Wireless Internet. Rafael's Sleep Inn has two ensuite bedrooms and sleeps up to 8 people. The is basic but complete with a full kitchen ready to go. You will feel right at home at Rafael's Sleep Inn! If you want to find out what life in Panama's paradise is like, stay at Rafael's Sleep Inn on Isla Bastimentos and find out!
  • Super nice house! We rent the whole place and it was super comfy to have our place to cook and had an amazing view to the island plus Lucas could transport us every time where we needed. Clean and comfy.

Enough large kitchen and lots of common space to eat if it's more economical for you or like us, you have food allergies. Sophie

  • Nice place. Has clean kitchen, I had a private bath and air conditioning, which is SUPER in a hostel atmosphere. I got to check in early with no extra charges, this was SO awesome on a really hot day!! Social, but not too noisey (#12 was right by the common area so a bit more noisy than most, not too bad). Friendly staff, close to everything, nice place.

    Marti2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Surfari has been better than we expected and we have extended the stay. The bed very comfortable, very good air conditioning, good shower, good kitchen with free coffee in the mornings, excellent wifi and location. The common area is a quiet place, we have had everything we have needed and they have been very nice with us and they have helped us at all times. We would repeat! Thank you!

Nomad Tree Lodge isn’t for everyone… Off-grid terrain and climbing 60 stairs to your cabin high in the RAINforest jungle canopy isn’t for everyone. Water conservation and eco conscious traveling isn’t for everyone. Walking to the islands best shallow reef break isn’t for everyone. It’s for anyone looking to escape the 4 walls of a hotel room and experience something truly unique. Nomad Tree Lodge is for the wanderers, the seekers; is it for you? Cabin types: www.airbnb.com/p/nomadtreelodge
Your private 156 sq ft cabin with a 58 square foot patio is situated on an amazing rainforest hillside. The private 70 foot square foot bathroom is detached from the A-frame, but is very closely connected to the cabin (less than a minute walking distance). The bathroom includes an open air shower with a rainfall shower. All rooms are fully furnished with linens, towels, and soap. Plus each room includes umbrellas for the occasional rainy day. Please, remember to scroll down to the very bottom of the page and click the "Read more about the neighborhood" link in the Neighborhood section for more info on our location. Nomad is a unique and awesome experience, but understanding our location will help you decide if it's right for you! View All Cabin Types: www.airbnb.com/p/nomadtreelodge
  • This is a very quite place, away from the crowds, in the middle of the trees, 5 minute walk from the beaches. Asher and Amanda were great hosts. The food is great, especially the chocolate brownie :) Would definitely recommend this place.

    René2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • A relaxing place, a friendly welcome while living an extraordinary experience by sleeping directly with the sounds of the jungle! The food is so good (the 3 tacos and the brownie: miiaamm), Amanda and her employees made us feel at home, I highly recommend it!

    Noémie2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Amanda is the best. Very good attention. Very chill everything. Away from the center, but 5 minutes by car or bike in 20 you move everywhere. Clean, ecological place and above all the good vibes of the place. Place attended with passion and a lot of work. Do not hesitate to go because it is far, it is worth it.

    Lu2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely amazing time in Bocas del toro and that was largely thanks to Nomad. The place is idyllic, set back in a forest with a quick walk to great surf. We couldn’t have felt more welcomed and met great people while staying there. The rooms are simple, tasteful and incredibly comfortable. Everyone who works there is super friendly and really help make the great vibe and atmosphere of the place. Thank you to everyone for making our stay what it was. When we come back to the amazing Bocas, we’ll be going straight to Nomad. Gracias.

Our over-the-water hotel, Los Balcones over the Sea, has 6 newly constructed suites available, all with their own private balconies. Enjoy breakfast served on our huge waterfront deck, take a dip in the ocean, or rent a kayak for a tour around the island. We are located a short boat ride from the main town of Bocas del Toro, but we have everything you need on this island to make your vacation unforgettable. Beaches, surf, bars/restaurants and more!
  • Fantastic hosting by Jerry, Lesley and the staff! Can recommend both Bocas Del Toro and their place to everyone (if you can tolerate some noise).

  • This is a great place to stay, she did more than expected. Rooms were sparkly clean, A/C worked great, outstanding views. The island is much more recommended since there's no much noise other than the school next door but it was fine. Breakfast was delicious and on point. Nothing went wrong. Nada. 100% approved.

  • I'd like to thanks Jerry for all the hospitality and information provided, this is my second time staying with them and in my experience this second one was better, everything is clean, safe, I arrived early in the morning and Jerry took care of my belongings and put them all in my bedroom, that was really nice from him. I hope to stay with you guys the next time... all pictures and descriptions are really according to the reality.

  • What makes this place incredible are the hosts Jerry and Lesley. They are welcoming, helpful and fun. Even though we had rain for three days, they made our stay enjoyable. The place is good value for money, the room was clean. You can also get a decent breakfast for 5 dollars. It’s also easy to catch the taxi boat to the busy Isla Colon that’s is only 1 min ride.
