Cottage vacation rentals in Rethymno

Stayed here for three weeks in April. The Makis mother did her absolute best to make us feel at home right away - she often brought us home cooked pastries and Greek desserts. Starlink Internet was stable and fast, had no issues with it. You are pretty high up in the mountains so it can get chilly if you are not going in summer, when we arrived it was pretty cold inside. Water pressure is not great but manageable, it's also solar hot water, so the temperature can be hit and miss. The place has hotel-like access card for the lights and sockets, so when you leave everything turns off, which can be a bit of nuisance. Not much natural light inside, but the mains lighting inside is more than sufficient during night time. For better or worse you are middle of nowhere surrounded by mountains and sheep's, thus there is really no reception in the area, for sms and calls you need to go outside.

Absolutely beautiful home in a stunning area. The ride out to Theriso was beautiful and the village was so peaceful. We sat outside in the evening listening to the night sounds and watching the stars. The beds were comfortable and the house had everything we needed. lovely restaurants close by. Great place with a lot of character

Logement impeccable, belle petite maison rénovée avec goût. Le jacuzzi est très agréable surtout à cette période ou une fois la nuit tombée la température tombe vite! Nous remercions les hôtes pour leurs petites attention. Ideale pour y rester quelques jours en famille! Seul petit point négatif, la route principale du village un peu passante devant le logement (ne pas hésiter à fermer le portillon à clé avec des enfants!) cependant, une fois à l'intérieur celui ci est très bien insonorisé.

Die Wohnung und die Lage waren unschlagbar gut. Auch der Check-in war super organisiert. Wir würden es jederzeit wieder buchen.

Die Villa liegt wunderschön in einer Sackgasse am Berg des kleinen Örtchens Armenoi. Alles ist prima gepflegt, sauber und stimmungsvoll. Alle Sanitärfunktionen sind sehr gut in Schuss, die Küche gut incl. Spülmaschine ausgestattet und die Schlafbereiche gepflegt. Der Grill hat tadellos funktioniert und Kohle und Anzünder lagen bereit. Die Kommunikation mit Elina war toll, sehr hilfsbereit und aufmerksam. Ein PKW ist unverzichtbar, wenn man mal ans Meer möchte ( 8 min. Fahrzeit nach Kalyves ). Ich würde jederzeit wiederkommen und somit auch besten Gewissens weiterempfehlen.

Beautiful location in the heart of Crete - easy to get anywhere on ghe island from here. Very quiet and private small mountain village, very comfortable homw that was very clean and perfectly furnished. Stavros was an amazing host , very attentive (but not interruptive), brought us multiple local delights & fresh produce. This is a fantastic place to comfoortanly relax without being too far away from all of the action on the beaches. Highly recommend!

This is my family’s second time staying with casa magnolia and believe me when I say you really will not find a more generous, loving, and friendly family who genuinely care about your comfort and want to show you the beautiful hospitality that Crete is known for. We were overjoyed to see them again and are very thankful that this family has chosen to share their little paradise on earth with the world. The home is spotless clean, organized, beautifully decorated and in a countryside location that is unique and breathtaking. The owners, without asking, went out of their way to buy us essential groceries and prepare delicious local food and drink for when we arrived. We are grateful for this! Bed linens are of high quality and freshly laundered professionally and were much appreciated after a long day out and about in Chania. Bathrooms are exceptionally clean and so is the rest of the house. We will never hesitate to visit again and hope to do so in future because of this family. ❤

We had a perfect stay at Albore, Sofia is a great host. She greeted us warmly, was always approachable and gave us nice recommendations for restaurants nearby. The interior of the cottage was exactly as shown, even more, it felt like being at home rather than a guest. We also loved her thoughtful welcome gifts. The spot is perfect to reach the Ammoudara beaches and Heraklion in a short drive. Our highlight was the Chelidoni Beach close by with very chilled beach club atmosphere. I can highly recommend a stay at Sofias Albore and we will surely come back to experience the great Greek hospitality

Kefalas is a great village to stay in, its very typical Greek and not spoiled and touristic. It has two nice restaurants, two little supermarkets for groceries, al within walking distance. The location is great to travel to Chania, Rethimnon, Georgioupoli, but also Aptera, Lake Kournas, Plakias, or walk one of the Gorges. The house is unbelievable with multiple lighted places to sit in the garden of balcony. So if you want Sun or Shade it is easy to find. The house is very spacious with 3 nice bedrooms, and also room to relay and sit as well downstairs as upstairs. You can park your car on the own terrain next to the house.

Nous avons adoré cette maison l emplacement est paradisiaque, tranquillité absolue, vue merveilleuse face à la mer ce logement a tout pour plaire. Pleins de douceurs nous attendaient dans le frigo fantastique 😍 Merci aux hôtes de la maison qui ont été remarquables. Nous avions tout l essentiel dans la maison tout était parfait 👍 le rêve absolu.

We've spent two great nights at Filia's place as a couple. A bottle of wine and raki waited for us. The house is really cosy and has everything that may be needed during your stay!

We had a magical time here with our family in your beautifully restored house close to some stunning and quiet beaches (compared to others on south coast) we loved the bbq area and shaded courtyard for lunch. Although a small pool it was perfect for cooling off and kids loved it. The local beach Taverna’s were relaxed and delicious food. Thanks so much and hope to be back soon!

Sehr empfehlenswert! Wir haben in Palaiokastro unseren ersten Urlaub zu dritt verbracht, und waren sehr zufrieden. Wir haben uns von Anfang an wohl gefühlt, alles nötige war vorhanden, von Babyutensilien bis hin zu einem Sonnenschirm für den Strand. Maria und Yannis sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit, und haben uns herzlich empfangen und persönlich verabschiedet. Das Haus ist wunderschön, sauber und gemütlich, der Garten ist super gepflegt. Warmes Wasser muss allerdings mit einem Boiler erhitzt werden. Der Strand in Laufnähe (10min) hat uns leider nicht gefallen, da eine Autobrücke direkt darüber führt. Mit dem Auto sind schöne Strände jedoch leicht zu erreichen. Wir waren meist in Agia Pelagia. Wir hatten einen tollen Urlaub und können das Haus nur empfehlen!

Rustig gelegen stenen huisje, met mooi terras en prachtig uitzicht. Van alle gemakken voorzien. Contact met Vasilis was prettig, hij reageert meteen. Aan ons verzoek om een extra bed bij te plaatsen werd meteen voldaan. Wij hebben heerlijke dagen gehad.

We had stayed in this stone cottage 8 years ago and our return confirmed the delightful setting in a wooded valley full of greenery and birdsong with the old abandoned buildings adjacent adding an air of mystery. The cottage is equipped with all the facilities two people need, though the sleeping mezzanine, accessed by a steep wooden staircase, is a little short of headspace! Outside, the terraced area is beautiful with many mature plants, and it is almost completely private save for the very occasional walkers on the path above. Much sun-bathing was enjoyed, whether direct or in the dappled shade. Above all, there is a wonderful feeling of tranquillity to this place that finds a place in your heart. Angela and her family were very good in maintaining contact: full marks there! One last point: if you wish to drive to park as close as possible, it is essential to have the smallest car available as the stone-walled access was obviously made to suit tiny donkey-carts! A great stay!

Gonia is a great, quiet village. Perfect for a relaxing getaway after the chaos of the more populated areas of Greece, yet still close enough to get to the other areas of Crete that we wanted to visit. The host is a super-host for a reason! She brought us fresh produce from her garden throughout our stay, including the most beautiful tomatoes that we had ever seen. The house is very quaint and the stone keeps it cooler during the very hot summer months. The outdoor space offered here is wonderful for relaxing, either downstairs in the shade or upstairs in the sun in the hammock or at the second dinner table. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here!

Sotirias bolig var helt perfekt til os (vi var 5 voksne, en lille dreng og en baby). Hendes onkel tog imod os da vi ankom om aftenen (bor i underetagen), og gjorde indtjekning super nem. Videre var kommunikation med Sotiria både inden og under opholdet nemt, høfligt og lige til, hun kom også med gode anbefalinger. Lejligheden ligger i gåafstand til Chania, med udsigt udover havet - virkelig smukt. Nabo restauranten laver gode pizzaer og der er en bager 5 min fra lejligheden. Anbefaler klart et ophold med Sotiria!

Das zweigeschossige Haus ist wunderschön und authentisch renoviert, blitzsauber und es gibt keinen unnötigen Krimskrams. Es gibt eine großartige Terrasse im Obergeschoss (wo das Schlafzimmer und Bad sind) mit Sonnenschirm und großen Steintisch. Sie ist so groß, dass auch 2 oder 3 Personen Yoga machen könnten. Es herrscht eine herrliche Ruhe und ist somit maximal erholsam. Durch Fensterläden ist das Schlafzimmer gut abzudunkeln, sodass ein erholsamer Schlaf möglich ist. In der Küche ist alles vorhanden, was man braucht. Stella und ihr Mann sind sehr nett es gab sogar einen liebevoll hergerichteten Obstkorb und sogar selbst gebackenen Kuchen. Absolut empfehlenswert!

Ich bin sehr froh, vorbeigekommen zu sein, aber Niko, er ist ein sehr netter hat viel Geduld hat auf uns gewartet fast 2 Stunden, hilfsbereiter Typ. Wir fanden eine kleine Geste wie ein Geschenk seiner Frau . Das Haus ist großartig, man muss nichts mitbringen, zum Beispiel Toilettenpapier, Handtücher und Strandtücher, Sonnenschirme. Darüber hinaus sind es nur 20 Minuten nach Shania, 10 Minuten zum Flughafen und 10 Minuten zu anderen Stränden, maximal 15 Minuten Restaurant und Apotheke Supermarkt das ist alles in der Nähe. Ich habe mich wirklich sehr gut erholt und hoffe, dass ich wieder zurückkomme, vielen Dank

What a perfect stay. We stayed at Doxa's home for a month and it was absolutely wonderful. If I could give it 10 stars I would! The location was perfect either for staying close to home and wandering down to the beach or to check out the great local restaurants. It is also centrally located and a close drive to Chania. We loved having it as our home base and then would make day trips out to the area of Kissamos, and other beautiful beaches like Elafonisi, Falasarna, Lake Kournas. The home was spacious, elegant, and meticulously clean. We loved having the beautiful big BBQ and had many nights under the stars, amidst Doxa's lovely olive tree garden. The home has all of the amenities you need for a beach stay, including toys for children, beach umbrellas, a washer and dryer, beach towels. As a host, Doxa embodies the beautiful generosity of the Greek people. Everything from the welcome basket, her responsive messages, and her kind and welcoming demeanour made us feel so at home!

Wir dürften eine Woche in AnnaMarias Unterkunft verbringen. Alles wie beschrieben und schön eingerichtet. Betten sind bequem. Es gab sogar ein Reisebett für Kinder und Kindergeschirr. Wichtig: kein Hochstuhl vorhanden aber das wussten wir vorher und haben unsere eigene Sitzerhöhung mitgebracht. Der Spielplatz gegenüber ist perfekt und der kleine Garten super zum spielen. Wir hatten eine tolle Zeit!

We had a great stay at Sara’s place. The apartment is on the 2nd fl (one flight up as in the picture). We stayed comfortably in their olive groves. We like the big balcony and the bathroom is also big. Snack, Olive oil and lemon were offered, appreciated, thank to them. Sara gave us detailed information where to go for some sightseeing. Sara and her husband are very friendly. We could easily go to the city and the beach from here. Highly recommended.

Nous avons adoré notre séjour. Les hôtes étaient très gentils, chaleureux et arrangeants. Ils ont vite répondu à nos messages et nous ont même laissé des biscuits, boissons, fruits et bonbons à disposition. Le studio est spacieux et confortable. On a son espace privé. Les environs sont très naturels et beaux. Il est nécessaire d'avoir une voiture. Les 2 chiens et le.chst qui sont autour de la propriété sont très mignons. Nous recommandons à 100% !

The house is located in a really small village on the mountains. As far as the arhitecture of the house and the interior is really nice. There is a fireplace if you want to visit during winter period. The only negative part is that you have to go to another village if you want to go to a cafeteria cause that village doesnt have anything like that.Overall it was a nice experience, quiet with beautiful views. Make sure to have supplies to cook before you go.Last but not least you need to have a car to move around in Crete.
