The Millpond Caravan, Machynlleth

AnnaRating, 5 stars22 months ago
We loved staying in the Mill Pond Caravan. The grounds are just stunning! Julie's instructions were very clear, so we found it and got in easily. The caravan is cosy and well equipped. fresh clean towels and bed linens and extra blankets if you get chilly. We had a bit of a wet week weather-wise, so it was great to be able to pop the heating on quickly in the morning to take the edge off. Otherwise, the caravan is warm and dry and cosy. Julie is definitely a super host, very friendly and welcoming. The kids absolutely loved the walk up into the orchard and then back down by the waterfall to follow the mill stream back. This place is stunning. Thank you for a lovely sta x

Large caravan in beautiful South Shropshire

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our extended stay in Jan’s accommodation. We arrived 1st week of March and were greeted with a very clean, warm living space. The freshly cut Daffodils were a nice touch. You get your own little boundary containing a lush lawn, 2 beautiful apple trees and lots of seasonal flowers, it’s pretty and you get a nice sense of privacy. Jan is a great host. She is very friendly & communicative, has great local knowledge and always happy to help with whatever she can. She gives you plenty of space to enjoy your break but if you’re up for a chinwag she has all the time for you. The town of Bishops Castle has a lot to offer, with lots of small businesses that seem to be thriving. There are a selection of pubs, restaurants and cafes all of which are good in their own ways. Our favourite was probably the Happy Bap for a small bite and a coffee. There is also an excellent quality butcher, petrol station, 2 convenience shops and variety of cute crafty shops.
A tranquil courtyard setting features natural stone paving and is surrounded by rustic stone walls. The barn conversion stands out with its wooden-framed doors and windows, and greenery from nearby trees enhances the serene atmosphere.

Y Star family room

What a great find this was! As a couple of hiking friends, we were looking for clean and comfortable accommodation and were absolutely delighted with the warm welcome received at Y Star. Parking was plentiful and the beds really comfortable! Unfortunately we couldn’t stay for breakfast as our hike required an early start but we couldn’t fault anything we did experience. A wonderful quiet setting - just what we needed!

Thank you Michael and Barbara for your pristine barn conversion, that has all essentials and additional luxuries to make it a perfect place to base yourself and explore mid-Wales. We loved the beautiful garden and peaceful outlook from the terrace. This is a spotlessly clean, characterful and stylist conversion, so many extra thoughtful things in the kitchen and bathroom, very handy local guide books and leaflets, such a comfy bed, spacious surroundings plus loads of tv channels and a beautifully friendly welcome and check out super easy. We will definitely return. For anyone loving history, castles, countryside, gardens, canals, we would recommend this place and would especially recommend visiting Powys Castle and the castle town of Montgomery both short trips away and much more in the area too. We look forward to returning to visit more that the area has to offer, and loved our time in Wales.

Another excellent stay. The fact that this was our second visit in as many months speaks for itself. A cosy, warm, and spotlessly clean place with a seriously comfortable bed and excellent internet speeds. We've only been able to use it for stopovers to date, but hopefully one day we'll be back for a longer stay in this beautiful part of the world. Very good value and highly recommended.

A great retreat, perfect for a few days hiking. Great local butcher in the village, plus a pizza pub that serves excellent Detroit style pizzas. The cottage was comfy and clean. The surroundings are beautiful and peaceful, no noisy roads etc. The sugar loaf is achievable by walking out from the cottage, a great long round trip with 15km + 600m+ elevation gain.
