Cottage vacation rentals in Norway

We recently stayed at Terje’s charming farmhouse in Norway’s Hjørundfjord, and it was a special experience. The farmhouse blends old-world charm with modern amenities and offers breathtaking views of the fjord. The house is equipped with all modern comforts, including a well-stocked kitchen, fast Wi-Fi, a big-screen smart TV, an outdoor hot tub, and comfortable beds to accommodate a large group. Two ferry ports a short drive from the farmhouse offer free rides to Ålesund, the roadless village of Trandal, and other destinations. Terje was exceptionally hospitable, providing great recommendations for local hiking activities and promptly responding to all our inquiries. He went above and beyond to make our stay at the farmhouse exceptional. Highly recommend this place for a peaceful and picturesque getaway!

Lovely cabin, amazing area!

I cannot emphasize enough how relaxing and splendid our experience was! We had an amazing time staying there for our honeymoon! The host and her husband were very kind, friendly, and hospitable. Even though we came during Christmas, they went out of their way to make us feel welcome! They even set us up a Christmas tree in the cabin and provided home-made snacks. There was plenty of fire wood, so we stayed nice and warm. The beds were so soft! The back four beds could easily fit two people each, for those who are wondering. If you stay with them, I highly recommend renting the sauna paired with swimming in the fresh water lake! The eggs from the chickens are delicious! The sheep are friendly. It was the coziest, most relaxing place we have ever stayed. We are so grateful to have been able to visit! It really made our honeymoon special. We hope to one day come back during the summer to see how the area differs, but we suspect it is spectacular at any point in the year.

This place is a gem! The setting is truly phenomenal with magnificent views and the frozen lake allowed us to experience a magical stay! We were also able to use the sauna and the jacuzzi, it was really the icing on the cake! A huge thank you for your time and this unforgettable stay!

Super peaceful location - and open space.

We enjoyed ourselves in the house at Lyngøy and would like to come back. Surprisingly nice inside the house, nicer and cozier than on the photos. Lovely view and nature We saw eagles several times and went for a lovely walk on the island. Nice to fire in the fireplace, when cold outside. Great amenities and plenty of linens and towels available. Arne is an enjoyable and helpful host.

We arrived late at night after a 4 hour drive from Narvik. The next day Cato showed me how to fill and heat the hottub and even took it upon himself to get it up to temp while we were out grocery shopping. That night we enjoyed gazing at the aurora borealis dancing above our heads in the hottub. A couple days later it got rainy and extremely windy preventing us from heating the hottub. As compensation Cato offered us use of his sauna and to take a swim in the sea, which we gladly did. He also gave us a whole cod for free from his fisherman's friend Tom which we used to make typical Norwegian dishes. Cato was extremely helpful and kind, he replied within minutes whenever we needed help or had any questions and he was full of amazing recommendations, as to where to hike and which towns and restaurants to visit. Towards the end of our stay it snowed a lot turning the surroundings into winter wonderland. We were very lucky to see all sides of Norway including the Northern lights!

What a wonderful house in a perfect peaceful location great for exploring Andøya.

Family of five plus a dog who had a great time at Hidra. The house is beautifully located by the sea, so here you can take the morning bath right from the jetty. Extra stas it was with the lambs in the garden to top the Easter vibe. Highly recommend 😊

Jorun has had many guests in her house on Sommaroy. Like all guests before us, I can only confirm from the heart what a great hostess Jorun is and how comfortable we felt in her house from beginning to end!!!!! Even when arriving, the weather was anything but smooth, she was there for us with help and advice, thank you very much for that;) We will definitely come back again, on the one hand to enjoy Jorun's hospitality again and on the other hand to get a second chance to see the aurora lights, which unfortunately was not the case this time. A beautiful, quietly located cottage with lots of charm. I brought my dogs, which was most welcome and which you can take long, long walks with in the neighborhood. Everything was available in the house, from kitchenware to towels, firewood, games, etc. Landlord is very friendly and replies fast. This accommodation is highly recommended.

Lovely overnight stay. Arrived late at night but check in was easy, beautiful surroundings to wake up to in the morning and easy to get back to the main roads on departure. Would recommend to anyone travelling through the Sogndal region for a single night or even a longer stay

Perfect place for us this night

we went to have a disconnected weekend with my partner and found these Cabin in an incredible souroundings!! we have enjoyed waking up with mountains view and spend the evening next to the fire after some ski. 100% recommend

Anne-Kristine welcomed us very warmly and told us a lot about this historic house. She and her husband were always available and always very friendly for questions. The old house is a dream, tastefully prepared and furnished and carefully retrofitted in the right places with modern comforts (heat pump/air conditioning, great bathroom with shower). Another highlight is the very nice place right on the fjord, which we were allowed to use. Here you can spend beautiful evenings next to the boathouse with a great view. Overall, one of our most beautiful Airbnb experiences. Thanks also for the delicious apples. We will be back.

Arnfinn gave us a very friendly welcome and is a very good host. The beds were very cozy and on the balcony you had a great view. The surroundings are very nice and quiet and we liked the Airbnb very much. In summary, we had a great night and the value for money is great.

We simply Loooved Emilie's and Elna's place. Such a priviledge that they shared their home with us. We didn't even want to explore much of the surroundings because it was simply exactly what we needed - watching the waves and water, the clouds and the everchanging weather (torrential rain, wind, sun - all in one day). Just what the doctor ordered! And we could watch that from the deck, but also from inside when the wind and cold got a bit too much outside ;) Even the boys just enjoyed hanging out. And in addition for the home to be so wonderful, Elna and Emilie are such wonderful hosts. They go way beyond and above anyone could expect of a host. We would love to come back.

Great hosts, great accommodation.

You can feel at home in Per's cottage. The living room area where you can relax and drink in front of the fire while listening to classical music. The dining room and kitchen overlook the fjord, which is a few hundred meters away, offering a beautiful landscape.

What a fantastic time we have spent in Trude and Andreas’ magnificent house in Haukanes on Huglo! The charming, secluded and well equipped traditional red house and its quiet surroundings are breathtaking with ever changing views, the greens and flowers, the small cottages, the boathouse, the pier, the boat and of course the sea only a few meters away. Despite some fairly rainy days we (two adults and a youngster of 16) enjoyed a lot the cozy house and had plenty to do exploring the island; hiking the Natur/Kulturstien, “climbing” Høgafjellet more than once, and talking to the very friendly and helpful Huglare. Other highlights included ice cream sessions at the Huglabutikken (with a surprisingly good selection of groceries), the multiple ferry trips to Hodnanes and Jektavik and the hiking on Stord (Stovegolvet). Trude and Andreas are fantastic hosts, extremely fast in answering any questions we had and we would warmly recommend to visit their magic place on Huglo.
