Castle vacation rentals in Northern Europe

A magical experience in a wonderful castle! Everything was perfect. We got a warm welcome with little tour around the castle and sweet biscuits, big, cozy and very clean room with everything in it. The bed was extremely comfortable and the fireplace made our stay even more romantic. So many details and Gisella’s good care of them cannot stay unnoticed and add their charm to the room. I could only recommend this place and will definitely come again.

The lodge was unbelievably beautiful and the pictures don’t do it justice. Felt like a dream and the host was great. Made sure we had what we needed for a peaceful and pleasant stay. Probably one of the best views we’ve had while enjoying our breakfast. Would absolutely recommend East Lodge and will have to come back

Amazing stay in the cutest place in a real castle! You can't beat that! Clean and organized with all the essentials. The courtyard was lovely for fresh air and an afternoon and morning walk after coffee. Ohma was very communicative and responded quickly to my inquiries. 10/10!

We want to thank Pat for her warm welcome to her castle. He is a passionate host who knows how to convey the history of his family home. The castle has an old-world charm that delighted us. Even with two nights we wished we could have stayed longer. Great stay.

We had the most wonderful time in this beautiful place. The Old Brewhouse was lovely - very comfortable, cosy and homely. The surrounding gardens and estate are stunning and the chance to watch the wild beavers at work was incredibly special. It is also a brilliant area for birdwatching. We didn't use our car at all - just went on a variety of walks from the cottage. We would love to go back again. Thank you!

We stayed here a few years ago but loved it so much we returned. Happy to report it was still a great place to say. So much space that a group of 12 (6 kids) could disappear into their own spaces or gather together for meals and games. East access to city or countryside. The castle is very well equipped and beds are comfortable. Hope this was not our last visit.

Fantastic flat, huge 2nd floor with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Master bedroom connects to walk-in wardrobe and from there to own bathroom - very nice! Cosy kitchen with extensive equipment. Outstanding location!

Zowie was quick and easy to communicate with. Her instructions were clear and helpful. The location is an easy 45 minute drive into Edinburgh but if you prefer not to drive, a bus stop is just down the hill. Huge bathtub was relaxing, Netflix worked great on the TV, everything we needed was in the kitchen. Great place! Thanks Zowie!

We’ve stayed in some very impressive Air B&Bs across the world but this was far and away the most impressive. It was an extraordinary experience staying in the apartment in the old school building. The view from the great windows was breathtaking and everything inside the apartment was so well done - would highly recommend, in fact it’s a Must if coming to Loch Ness & the western Highlands.

Wonderful stay at Eight Bells Cottage. The cottage is cosy and very tastefully furnished with well equipped kitchen and bathroom. The hosts are responsive and very friendly with helpful advice about the area. We would definitely return to this beautiful cottage and stunning area.

A great place to stay as a group! Fantastic views of Loch Lomond. Was a perfect location for our trip for my brother’s wedding at Cameron House! Graham was a very responsive and accommodating host!

Staying at the Tower of Oto was an absolute dream! The location is perfect—just minutes from the entrance to Ordesa-Monte Perdido National Park, which made it incredibly convenient for all our hiking and exploring. The peaceful village of Oto is full of charm, and being so close to the neighboring town of Broto (walkable on a really cool hiking path) gave us easy access to great restaurants, shops, and anything else we needed during our stay. The tower itself was full of character—beautifully restored, with thoughtful touches that made it both unique and comfortable. The kids loved the tower and we all really loved the village and didn’t want to leave. Waking up to the views of the surrounding Pyrenees was something we looked forward to every morning. This is the perfect base for anyone looking to explore the beauty of the Ordesa Valley while enjoying a peaceful and authentic mountain village experience. We’re so grateful we found this gem!

Amazing place to stay! We came after our wedding for a quiet weekend away and got exactly that; had such a lovely time in the hot tub in the evening and waking up with the sunshine through the sky light in the morning. Wonderful hosts, reachable when needed and thought of everything you may possibly need. Would recommend a hundred times over! -Ella and Jay

A unique location. Beautiful castle. Very happy with this weekend. My husband did want to go back. The driveway is a bit messy, but as homeowners we understand better than anyone that a house (and certainly a castle) costs a lot of work. The interior is typical German, the carpet-like wall covering not ideal for possible dust mite intolerance, but otherwise we were very satisfied with the large special space! Good and clear communication, and great value for money!

It was a real pleasure to stay in the lavender gite in the grounds of the chateau Michael's renovating. What made our stay special was the warm and friendly hospitality from Michael and his friend Gabi, and the beautiful gardens he's created around the gites, the chateau and the swimming pool. It was a bit too chilly to use the pool in our stay, but it looked very inviting in better weather!

A wonderful stay to celebrate our history buff friend - truly felt like staying in the castle itself! We used all Ed’s and a sofa. Which was comfy, and even booked the extra bedroom. The walks around the gate house are wonderful and provide great views. Hosts are super responsive and very helpful, and we even made use of the 25% at the castle during our stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our family vacation to Normandy this year. The chateau was beautiful and an easy driving distance to the D-Day Beaches and Mont Saint Michele. Bayeux, Caen and Falaise are close and have an interesting mixture of which medieval and WW2 history. We are very grateful to Annika as she provided excursion and restaurant suggestions which were spot on. We had also wanted a chef to come in and cook a meal for us based on the local cuisine. The chef Annika recommended cooked a delicious meal for us and this was one of many highlights of our trip. Please utilize Florence the housekeeper. She had home cooked meals ready for us to enjoy for both lunch and dinner. I highly recommend for those who fly in overnight, We also loved the grounds. We played yard games daily and loved watching the children play the Duke of Normandy. Thank you Annika for helping us to have such a wonderful vacation!

We wanted something peaceful and in the countryside and this was perfect. A little town nearby for a wander round and a good pub for a nice meal at The Raven. The log burner was a great feature for us too to be able to sit and chat and relax in the evening. If you want to get away from your everyday routine modern life this will be as perfect for you as it was for us. Also the hosts responded quickly and were really friendly and helpful.

A lovely place that has private access to lake Windermere. Great base to explore the area. Very spacious accommodation and the garden views are wonderful, and a lovely scenic view of the lake as well.
